Litha; Connecting To The Vibrant, And Life Giving Energy Of The Longest Day Of The Year

The Summer Solstice; the longest day of the year! This pagan holiday, also known as Litha, is all about celebrating the light in our lives the sun! As the days grow longer and the sun shines brighter, the world around us begins to come alive in a vibrant display of color and warmth. As we look around us and see in nature; our gardens are sprouting, flowers blooming, the birds flying around, the bees zooming about pollinating, and the grass coming back from winter; we know we have the warm, bright, and vibrant sun to thank for it. Litha is a time to celebrate the abundance and beauty of the Earth. It’s a time to celebrate the warmth of the sun’s rays on us and its nourishing effect on the Earth. It truly is the celebration of the fullness of nature and the strength and power of the sun. It’s the time the goddess is heavy with child and the god is preparing to help with the birth.

It’s a fire festival where we both, celebrate the Sun while also remembering that darker days are coming. With the realization that the days will steadily begin to grow shorter; and this is a fire festival. It becomes another sabbatt when we get to connect to our passions, desires, and the things that truly bring us joy in life. With the sun also being the planet that is the keeper of our ego, pride, and identity this holiday is a time to allow the sun’s rays to shine a light on who you truly are and allow them reconnect you to that version of yourself. Let’s follow the rays of the sun to have litha illuminated to us in this blogpost.

The History Of Litha

Litha AKA, Midsummers Night is the longest day of the year, now known as the summer solstice and has been celebrated in some fashion since ancient times. Litha is a pagan holiday and also one of Wicca’s eight sabbats that takes place on the summer solstice, the longest day of the year. It’s also known as Midsummer and is celebrated around June 21 in the Northern Hemisphere. The word “Litha” comes from the Anglo-Saxon word for “midsummer”. It has roots in ancient agricultural societies that relied on the sun for their livelihoods. It’s celebrated by many cultures around the world, including Pagans, Celts, and Norse people, and has its roots in ancient agricultural societies.

Historical evidence shows that Litha celebrations date back thousands of years and as far as the Neolithic period though they may be called by different names and worship different deities in each culture. Many agricultural societies used the period to indicate a time for planting and harvesting. Many ancient monuments like Stonehenge, the Egyptian pyramids, and the Temple of Kukulcan, were built to align with the sun’s position during the Summer solstice and thought to not only be used as a calendar but, places of worship to honor this day as well.

Litha is believed to be an ancient Germanic word for the months of June and July as well. The Anglo-Saxons (germanic)brought Aerra Litha with them to the British Isles when they settled there in the 5th and 6th centuries AD.

In Celtic culture and mythology Litha was a celebration of the Celtic goddess Danu (Anu) who represents earth and fruitfulness. According to Irish mythology Danu was the Universal Mother of Tuatha De Danaan – a tribe of ancient people in Ireland believed to have invaded Ireland and ruled until being defeated in war on midsummer’s day, after which they retreated to the hills and eventually became the Faerie folk.

In ancient Rome, this celebration was known as Vestalia which was the celebration of Vesta, the goddess of virginity, chastity and the sacred flame. Women would visit the temple of Vesta and make offerings to this goddess.

In many Neopaganism and Wiccan traditions, Litha marked the end of the Oak King’s reign and the rise of the Holly King, who oversees the world as the days gradually get shorter as the world descends into the cold dark of winter. The Oak King is associated with strength, growth, and vitality, while the Holly King is associated with rest, reflection, and regeneration. Together, they represent the cyclical nature of the seasons and the constant flow of life, death, and rebirth in the natural world. They are in fact, in many traditions, two faces of the Horned God, representing the polarity that exists in all things. In the Wiccan practice, it’s a bit deeper with an added layer as well. The Oak King(The God) and The Goddess are at the height of their power, and the Goddess is heavily pregnant and it is the oak king who will help her give birth. She is filled with the life of her coming son just as the earth is sown with seeds that will soon come to harvest.

Later in history as Christianity swept across Europe in the early middle ages, Litha / Midsummer Night was adopted by the Catholic church as St. John’s Day, celebrating John the Baptist.

When Is Litha?


Litha, or the Midsummer sabbat, is celebrated as a lesser sabbat in modern paganism and also one of the main fire festivals in the Celtic calendar. Litha happens at the summer solstice, when the day is longest and the night shortest. It is celebrated around June 21st, usually falling on any day from June 20th to June 23rd in the Northern hemisphere. In the southern hemisphere, it falls around December 21st to December 22nd. The changes in the dates depend on the shifting earth’s rotation around the sun. Litha marks the longest day of the year, the end of spring, and the start of summer astronomically.

The Fires Of Litha

First and foremost, Litha was and is a fire festival. Fire holds a significant role during Litha, symbolizing purification, transformation, and the height of solar energy. It was common to build bonfires and make wishes on Litha across cultures. Though it is thought this tradition may have originated with Celtic, Slavic, and Germanic people in Neolithic cultures in Northern and Central Europe, who lit bonfires to strengthen the sun’s power for the rest of the growing season. Family, friends, loved ones, and neighbors would gather and sit around the bonfire all night long waiting to greet the sun as it rises on its longest day. Catching the very first glimpse and energies of the first rays of the day. Some believe that fire symbolizes the sun and wards off unwanted entities. Others think that lighting and jumping over bonfires on the solstice brings good luck to lovers and keeps demons away.

A Celebration of The Sun

It is the height of celebration, as the triumphant sun shines bright and majestic, full of passion and success. Litha is a symbol of light, love and happiness, as well as, warmth and the power of the sun. At the heart of Litha celebrations, is the recognition and reverence for the sun’s life-giving energy. We rejoice in the seasons and the source of the light that is the basis of life. The sun is seen as a powerful symbol of vitality, strength, and for many the masculine aspect of divinity.

A Time To Connect To Yourself and Nature Around You

There are many ways to celebrate and connect to Litha. At the heart of these festivities, they are about getting in tune and connecting with the world around you and your place in it. Litha is a time to connect deeply with nature and embrace its abundance. The earth is in full bloom, with vibrant colors, fragrant flowers, and bountiful harvests. Humanity is busy with festivals, bbqs, and family gatherings almost every weekend. It’s a time when fertile energy is at its peak, and all around us, new life is rapidly growing. Litha celebrates the growing crops, the Sun, abundance, and the first day of Summer. Litha is your time to connect to and honor nature’s incredible fertile energy at this time of year, and to connect with our natural world on a deeper, more meaningful level.

Litha And Duality

Since, I am a grey witch I look for the duality in every single energy I work with including sacred days and/or holidays like Litha. We see the duality in Litha in the reason for why we celebrate it; for being the longest day of the year, and preparing us for the days to begin to shorten. We must embrace the good days before the darker days arrive. If we don’t celebrate our abundance, our fertility, and our success, then the darker days become even more bleak and unbearable.

Common Traditions

Since Litha is a fire festival in honor of the sun and it’s power, one of the most common ways to celebrate it was by lighting a bonfire on the top of a hillside. Using the bonfire to connect to the strength of the sun to carry them through the upcoming harvest season and long winter to follow. Another common practice was setting large wheels on fire and rolling them down into bodies of water.

Romans celebrated Juno during this time, which meant this month was often filled with many marriages. Vesta was also another celebrated goddess, and was often given offerings of salted meat for eight days in exchange for blessings upon the home. Along with lighting the fire in your hearths. In Norse traditions, the solstice was celebrated with feasts dedicated to Freyr, the fertility god.

Litha Deities

In many mythologies, and pantheons, gods and goddesses of Litha play a vital role in the seasonal cycle, symbolizing fertility, abundance, the earth, the sun, fire, and our personal power. They remind us to be grateful for all the sun has provided us with this yearly cycle and to begin to prepare for the winter to come. Working with deities is one of my favorite things to do. You can honor them during their festivals for them and by bringing them into any of your prayers, rituals, and spells you want to in order to celebrate and connect to this holiday. Juno

Juno, the Roman goddess of marriage, the family, and childbirth was a paramount figure embodying the sanctity and power of matrimonial union and the family. The Roman goddess Juno is among the first gods and goddesses of ancient Rome who is in charge of the women’s lives in the state. Juno’s symbol, which is a peacock, represents her watchful vigilance and her role as the protector of the community. It is assumed that the term “Juno” meant “the young one” because of her association as the goddess of the new and waxing moon. This celestial connection perhaps implying the idea of growth and beginnings, aligns with her domains.

Today, it is accepted that the Roman goddess Juno has the title “Regina” meaning Queen which gives her the title of the “Queen of the Gods.” Juno, being a multifaceted deity, was also the wife and sister of Jupiter, the King of all the Roman gods. She was often represented as the female counterpart to Mars the god of war, highlighting her influence in both the domestic and political spheres. Although the Roman goddess Juno had dominion over family, marriage, and childbirth, she is often depicted to be in a warlike stance, an illustration that is often favored upon by Roman soldiers.

Pan

Part man and part goat, Pan was the Greek god who was patron of shepherds and hunters, who watched their flocks. Pan was the Greek god of nature and the untamed wilderness. PAN was the god of the meadows and forests of the mountain wilds. His unseen presence aroused panic in those who traversed his realm. He was even thought to be the cause of the musical sound of the wind through the trees. He was Associated with music, fertility, and spring. In ancient Greek art, he was often depicted as a horned man with the legs of a goat; he was the chief of the satyrs, who were similar in appearance and character to Pan.

Pan, ruled over nature and pasturelands. Pan is essentially the father of the wild things. He is frequently depicted in literature and artworks. Although he is not one of the major gods of Ancient Greece, he is one of most often referenced figures in Greek mythology. Pan has come to represent the unstoppable power of nature throughout the ages and still today. To learn more about pan and how to connect to him you can do so in my previous blog post here.

Lugh

The Irish god of the sun, Lugh is a powerful deity associated with Litha. He is often invoked for protection and blessings of abundance. Lugh is a powerful deity said to have brought learning and knowledge to man. He is an Irish God of the Tuatha De Dannan, associated with Litha and the summer season. As the Celtic solar deity, Lugh has hegemony over life, light and law. His traditional symbols represent energy and creativity, from a shining sun held aloft in his hands to fiery arrows that stand for passion and lust.

Hathor

Of the many different gods and goddesses that were worshipped in ancient Egypt, Hathor is considered one of the most important. Hathor is the Egyptian goddess of love and beauty and her history is quite intriguing among the many that are around in the Egyptian pantheon. The Egyptian goddess of beauty and love is the daughter of the sky goddess Nut and the god of the sun and creation, Ra. Hathor is not only the daughter of Egypt’s main deities for she is also the ‘eye of Ra,’ the most powerful force in the world. This makes her one of the most significant deities in Egyptian mythology. The Egyptian goddess of love and beauty is also the goddess of the underworld. She welcomes the dead as they reach the underworld and serves them food and drinks. She is thought to be later connected with the Greek goddess Aphrodite this is why she is a great deity to work with this month to help you with self love, nourishment, and fertility workings.

Danu

Danu a celtic goddess, also known as Anu or Dana, she represents the divine maternal figure and her influence spread throughout Eastern Europe to Ireland. Danu was worshipped as a goddess of fertility, wisdom, and the wind. She nurtured the gods and she adopted became known as; the Tuatha Dé Danann, the Irish pantheon associated with the fairy folk.

Danu played a vital role in Celtic cosmology, embodying the nurturing and fertile aspects of femininity. As a goddess of fertility, she was associated with the abundance of the land and the growth of crops. Danu was also revered for her wisdom and connection to the wind. It was believed that she possessed profound knowledge, acting as a guide for the gods and the mortal inhabitants of the Celtic world. According to ancient Celtic beliefs, Danu not only nurtured the gods but also served as a protector and sustainer of life.

Ra

The sun god Ra was ancient Egypt’s most revered and sacred deity, who they worshipped as king of the gods and father of creation. King of the deities and father of creation, he was the most sacred of all the gods, a solar deity who embodied the sheer power of the sun and gave life to the universe. As such, he symbolized the great reverence ancient Egyptians had for the sun as an agricultural society in the desert whose lives revolved around growth and regeneration. According to many Egyptian myths, sun god Ra was responsible for the creation of all life. Out of eternal darkness, an entity called Atum called forth the beginning of creation. An island slowly emerged out of the Primeval Ocean, which turned into Ra, the sun god and than Ra spawned the first gods. As creator of the universe, Ra became father and king to all gods, humans and living creatures. Egyptians believed that it was Ra’s duty to travel across the sky every day, bringing light and life to the world. As the sun set, Ra would descend into the underworld, where he battled against forces of darkness, including the evil serpent Apopis, in order to ensure the sun could rise again in the morning. Egyptians likened this daily pattern of light and darkness to the entire cycle of life, in which humans live, die and rise again in the afterlife.

Amaterasu

Amaterasu is the primary deity of the Shinto religion in Japanese mythology, revered as the goddess of the sun, universe, and creation itself, and considered the highest manifestation of the spirit of the universe. Amaterasu was born from the left eye of her father, Izanagi, when he purified himself after visiting the underworld. Her birth gave her the unique status of being the only deity born from Izanagi alone. As the source of all light, life, and creation, the sun goddess sustains heaven and earth with a light so compelling that her father appointed her ruler of the universe when he first laid eyes on her. Amaterasu is also known for her role as the ruler of the Higher Celestial Plane. In this realm, she was responsible for bringing light to the world through the sun that she embodied. Amaterasu is the rising and setting sun: without her, all forms of life would cease to exist. As ruler of the heavens, she governs over all spirits (kami), and her divine powers brought about the cultivation of rice and wheat: she is also credited with first using silkworms and looms for weaving. Amaterasu’s role as the ruler of heaven is to ensure the continuity of life by maintaining order. As the embodiment of the sun, she assimilates all of its qualities and provides comfort and assurance to all those who look to her for guidance and protection. Having served as the mother of the imperial family she is revered as the goddess of the state, and is both nurturing and maternal. Magical Themes Of Litha

Every season and every pagan holiday has certain concepts and magical themes. Which means, depending on your tradition and needs, you can weave one or more of these themes into your personal celebrations. Litha is a great time for empowering spell work. Spells for healing, self-growth, self-love, love, and protection are all great choices. On Litha, we see the following magical rituals and spells below as well. First, what is a correspondence? A correspondence is an item or symbol that is meant to connect you to a specific energy thru it’s representation. It is seen also as an item to respect, honor, and venerate that energy as well whether it be a deity, an archetype energy, the zodiac energy the moon is currently or for A holiday or sacred time like Litha, I will list below for you to use.Remember this is not an all encompassing list and there may be other correspondences to use. Ways To Celebrate Litha

We have talked about many different themes, and energies you can connect to during this time from fertility, abundance, joy, passion, connecting to nature, empowerment, transformation, and more. Let’s talk about how we can connect to and celebrate those themes and energies now. First, you can participate and honor any of the deities listed above or that are associated with Summer or the sun. You can work with any affirmations, mantras, and visualization work for manifestation, passion, abundance, fertility, joy, empowerment, and transformation. Have a bonfire

As we talked about above, first and foremost beltane was celebrated as fire festival and the ancient celts used to pass their cattle through two of them to purify and cleanse them. So, what better way to connect to Litha and celebrate it than to build, lit, and enjoy a bonfire of your own! It’s common to do this with others, have some drinks, and leap over the flames for good luck and prosperity. Just be safe!

Perform a burning release

You already have the fire burning so why not use it for some release magic? One of my favorite ways to release unwanted habits, energies, people, and things from my life is to burn it away with fire. Take a piece of paper, focus on what it is you want to release from your life, write it on that piece of paper than walk up to your bonfire and as you let the paper fall and be burned in the flames visualize what you wrote being burned to ashes in your life as well.

Perform Solar magic

At the heart of Litha celebrations is the recognition and reverence for the sun’s life-giving energy. Which makes it one or if not the most potent day to perform solar magic. There are so many different ways to work with solar magic and the sun from meditating under its bright rays, making sun water, drawing down the sun and more. Dance

Litha is a very fertile time full of energy, passion, and abundance, so what better way to connect to that energy than to move with it. We can do this by moving our hips, our womb spaces and moving our body through dance. Dancing allows us to move energy around, connect to the movements of energy around us in a dynamic way, and opens up our womb space to connect to sexual energy. So, get up move your body through dance and maybe even do so around a bonfire!

Wild Flower Crafting
Wild flowers have always been a big part of the Litha celebrations. In ancient times, it was common to pick flowers like sunflowers and create crown wreaths out of them to wear or place on an altar. Or to take them and create a beautiful handfasting basket for a couple whose getting married.So go and pick wildflowers, Litha is the perfect day for it! Then return home and make a bouquet. Or if you’re feeling really crafty, make flower wreaths, crowns or garland to decorate yourself, your home, to place on your altar, or gift to a couple.

Refresh Your Altar
Another way to connect to a holiday and/or sacred day I always recommend is to cleanse and refresh your altar and/or sacred space. Use water or fire to cleanse, then decorate with wildflowers, images of the fae, Litha deities, and any of the litha correspondences we talked about earlier.

Simmer pot for beltane

Whether you consider yourself a Kitchen Witch, are vaguely interested in Kitchen Magic or just want to bring some good vibes and good smells into your home, simmer pots are an easy, accessible and fun ritual for any time of year! Simmer pots are easy to create and customize to your liking, so you can make your kitchen a sacred space whenever you want! So, why not make one specifically to call in and honor the energy of Litha.

What are simmer pots? Simmer pots are basically potpourri in a pot! You choose your ingredients, put them in a pot with water, bring to a boil, then turn down to a simmer and let it do its thing. They couldn’t be any easier, just be sure you don’t let your pot boil dry! If you want to keep the pot going simply add more water when it gets low. Perform Fae Magic
In ancient times, and up to the modern era, the Celtic people believed strongly in the Fae, also called the faery folk. Litha, the Summer Solstice, is one of the three annual Feasts of Faeries, the Fae. The day of the Summer Solstice is when access to their realm is the easiest and the Faes’ powers, strongest. They frolic about bonfires, joyously singing and dancing. Five Senses Nature Walk

Litha is all about the cycle and movement of nature and marking the most fertile time of the year. Connecting to the blooming and buzzing of nature all around us. So why not take the time to connect to nature itself? Soak in all the fertility and abundance in nature right now. You can do this by going on a five sense nature walk. After you have engaged all your senses, walk back to your home. Reflect on your experience by writing it down in a journal

Make a Litha Spell Jar

Spell Jars are one of my most favorite spells to create and tools to use in my magical practice and life. Spell jars are great to create a container of energy for you to harness and come back to over and over again when you need it! A quick run down on how to create a spell jar. Pick your items, and add them to your jar after you wash, cleanse and charger your jar. As you add your items focus on visualizing the energy of abundance and what it is you very specifically want to call into your life with that energy. Once you feel the intention and energy is set inside the jar you can take your lid and seal it shut. To add more power to your jar you can add sigils to the outside or seal the lid with wax even. Place the jar on your altar or anywhere in your home, office, or car where you can see it and come back to it when you need to call on the energy and spell again. You can shake the jar to activate the magic whenever you come back to it as well. Working With The Powerful, Protective, And Transformative Gorgon Goddess; Medusa

The legend of Medusa is well-known in greek mythology. It tells of a beautiful woman transformed into a gorgon: who some would consider to be a hideous monster with venomous serpents for hair. She is feared by many, especially men. This is because, she is incredibly misunderstood. Due to the fact that most of her myth and story isn’t commonly told and her tragic beginning many have tried to have lost in the waters of time. The truth behind the myth of Medusa doesn’t start with Perseus. It doesn’t even start with Medusa being cursed by Athena. It starts long before that, with the god of the sea Poseidon.

Because of her story many pagans and witches, especially women chose to work with her as a goddess. She’s a powerful symbol of transformation. Transformation of anger and pain into passion and drive, accountability for oneself and growing from it. Seeing ourselves for who we truly are at our core, and approaching your obstacles and challenges with ferocity. Her name says it all; “Medusa” means “guardian, or protectress”. As a Gorgon, Medusa also represents a primordial force of chaos and destruction, embodying the untamed and unpredictable aspects of the natural world. Her petrifying gaze can be interpreted as a reminder of the inherent danger and potential for devastation that exists within the natural order. She uses it to protect others, especially women. And to show others their true nature; if they choose to take from another something they have no right to take.

Let go of your fear about her and come with me to stare into the slithering snakes upon her head to learn the truth about her myth, how she is much more than a monster but, a goddess who was demonized, and how to work with her.

Who Is Medusa?

Most view Medusa as a monster and they would be partially correct, but she is a goddess as well born of divine blood. Medusa is a complex being whose name evokes different emotions: fear, awe, anger, fascination and even courage. Her name means “guardian” or “protectress”. Medusa was born to two sea deities Ceto and Phorcyos, along with her sisters, Euryale (The far springer) and Stheno ( the mighty or strong). For some reason I can’t quite figure out why, but Medusa was mortal unlike her sisters. Medusa was shockingly beautiful as a mortal. She had long, silky hair and a beautiful body. She was a devotee of the Goddess Athena. Medusa was loyal to Athena and vowed to follow her path.

Medusa The Guardian and Protector

Medusa is a very powerful goddess to work with for protection. I mean her name says it all; “Medusa” means “guardian, or protectress”. Medusa literally means the definition of power and being the powerful one. Not only that but, she was devoted to Athena and had learned many forms of protection while guarding her temple. Which allows her to lend her guardianship to those who seek it when they call to her. Don’t forget her origin either which adds even more power behind her protection. Born of the sea gods Phorcys and Ceto, it is often forgotten that Medusa herself is a goddess of the sea. Which is a place of immense power and has the capability to do serious damage to the earth and humans if it chooses to. Her rage which she calls on for protection, is as powerful as the most ravenous hurricane and has the ability to drown those who seek to harm her.

Medusa The Demonized Victim

Medusa’s story is the tale of the deep cut of society’s knife: creating, blaming, and demonizing the victim for being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Medusa’s tale is unfortunately a common one in myths and legends especially for the greek pantheon. It’s a tale of a beautiful women being defiled by a man who decided he would take something without permission. But, with Medusa she gets victimized even further after her rape and is turned into, what many consider a monster instead of getting protection from the goddess she served. This happening to her, leads to her story being retold in a way that paints her as a monster instead of the victim and to many erases her trauma completely. Which eventually leads to her murder and many thinking she was just another monster being slain by a hero. Instead of a victim of multiple gods and society, whose rage is justified and used to protect others from befalling the same fate.

Medusa The Goddess Of Femininity

Medusa is also known as a goddess of femininity, fertility, and menstruation. During her story we see representations of all phases of fertility and the aspects of women from her vow of chastity, her loss of that through the violation of rape, her hair being turned into a symbol of fertility the snakes, and the birth of children at her death. We also see it in many of her descriptions as a maiden and being a very beautiful one at that. Medusa’s power extends to those who need aid in these areas, so seek her out if you’re looking for guidance while trying to conceive or experiencing any sort of reproductive health issues.

Medusa’s Connection To Snakes

When she is cursed by Athena she acquires her famous hair made of snakes, when she is transformed into a gorgon. This has great significance to who she is, what she represents, and the powers she holds. When we look at the symbolism of snakes themselves they represent; fertility, a closeness to the earth, and the continued cycle of shedding in life. We see these themes throughout her story and who she is. She goes through many different changes in her story. Where she sheds many different skins from a mortal temple maiden, to a violated victim, what some view as a fearsome monster, and finally a mother upon her death.

Medusa’s Birth and Sisters

As we dive deeper into greek mythology medusa’s’ origin, and family is something that for me seems to be unique to most prominent figures in the pantheon. I say this because, usually there is a plethora of information with many differences in details. But, with medusa we don’t have a lot of information about her origin and family and what we do have I can only find one place of difference in her family history. So, who is her family and what is her origin?

Medusa was one of the daughters of the primordial sea-god Phorcys and his sister and wife, Ceto, deities of the hidden dangers of the deep and large sea creatures, like the kraken. She had siblings as well, two sisters named; Euryale (The far springer) and Stheno ( the mighty or strong). The three of them together are commonly known now, as the three gorgon sisters. But, their origin and identities is where we have differences with her family.

In many of the stories, the sisters were all BORN Gorgons not turned into them, while in others only Stheno and Euryale were. In some tales, specifically Ovid’s Metamorphoses, the most commonly known version of her story. Medusa was born MORTAL and was turned into a gorgon, while her sisters were already immortal. In that version of the story her sisters were turned into gorgons alongside her since they attempted to protect her from Athena. All three of the sisters were close and they fiercely loved and protected each other and we see that in every version of the story. Even when medusa was murdered her sisters heard it, and immediately went to take chase of the killer. When they failed they went back to their island to mourn. It’s said to have moved Athena so much, that she modeled after it the mournful music of the double pipe, the aulos.

The Story Of Medusa

Medusa the Priestess to Athena and Poseidon

The story of Medusa first appeared in Ovid’s work. There are now two versions to the beginning of her myth and story. Let me tell you the most commonly known and accepted version first.

Medusa was a priestess to Athena. Athens is the goddess of war and wisdom. She is also one of the virgin goddesses. Part of the requirements of being a priestess to Athena would have included Medusa promising to remain chaste while in service.

One day while Medusa was out gathering water for service in the temple, Poseidon happens to come upon her and he sees her. Medusa was rumored to be incredibly beautiful. So, as to what happens next; something far to common in many greek myths; Poseidon sees her, wants her, and decides she is his to take even amidst her rejections. It is said that she ran to the Temple of Athena seeking protection.

I mean why wouldn’t she? It was nearby, she was a servant to her, she protected women’s Chastity, and her and poseidon weren’t exactly friends either. But, Protection isn’t what she got. Poseidon rapes Medusa on the floor of the Temple of Athena.

Athena comes and sees that her temple has been defiled. She doesn’t blame her fellow god though; she blames the mortal Medusa. Medusa’s sisters come to her defense and thus suffer part of the punishment. Athena curses Medusa with a head full of snakes, and that any man who looks at her will be turned to stone. This punishment turned Medusa into a monster that is isolated from the world of men thus she can never be near another man again for breaking her vow of celibacy.

The second version of the beginning of her myth looks at the goddess Athena and what some call a curse a little differently. The initial telling of this myth depicts Athena acting out in anger and Athena punishing her. But, in this version Athena’s response is one from a place of understanding and concern. After all, Medusa took a vow of celibacy; she never wanted to be touched in the first place.

Instead of looking at it from the view of a curse look at it as a gift. Athena then gifts Medusa with a special weapon that frees her from the possibility of ever suffering such an assault ever again. From then on, men would fear the very sight of her, and Medusa would be protected from the unwanted touch of them. She wouldn’t have to deal with being violated, ever again. Those snakes on her head and her gaze to turn others into stone were truly a gift of protection and compassion in this version of the myth.

I also think that Medusa wanted the power of the snakes especially after what she went through. Though the transition may have been difficult, she probably chose to live this life in order to feel safe and protected. Medusa is all about finding your own inner power and using it. This power also allows her to protect others and stop them from having to suffer they way she had too.

Medusa and Perseus

In what is probably the most popular myth about the story of Medusa, the so-called hero Perseus was sent to slay Medusa.

The Greek “hero” Perseus is sent to take Medusa’s head in order to save his mother from marrying a selfish, evil king. Perseus was granted help by the gods in the form of divine tools. From Athena, Perseus received a mirrored shield. He uses this shield to gaze upon Medusa without being turned to stone and then he beheads her with a divine sword. A key note here as well, in most versions he waited until Medusa was asleep. But from Medusa’s tragic death springs new life and beauty; because every time the gods have sex a child is born. So at the moment Perseus cuts off her head, a Pegasus flies out of her body and is born. And the giant Chrysaor was born through the wound in her neck. Their father being Poseidon who had impregnated her during her rape. After the battle Perseus returns and gives the head to Athena, who in turn places it on her shield, protecting her as she goes into battle from than on.

Once this story comes into play it’s hard to imagine that Athena had good intentions in mind when cursing Medusa to begin with. Ultimately, it’s Athena’s tool that leads to her death. Why would a deity she served and gifted her with protection, than later provide the man with the tool to kill her? So, I will leave that up to you to decide how you feel about it.

No matter the point-of-view you believe of these tales, there is one common theme: Medusa befalls tragedies that no woman or man should have to suffer. As a result, she is persecuted further by the very goddess she sought to serve. Her rage is unmet, and her ferocity is as deep and as strong as the seas. It’s a story about society creating, blaming, and demonizing the victim for being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Medusa’s Worship In History

Medusa and an image of a gorgan shows up in other cultures as well outside of Greece. People would carve her image over their doors to ward off evil and protect their homes. Medusa’s name in ancient Greek means “to guard and protect.” They recently discovered an amulet with the head of Medusa on it carried by a Roman soldier to England. Anthropologists believe that Roman soldiers would carry her image with them in their travels as protection. It’s even said, Medusa’s head was ultimately buried under the agora at Argos.

There is also the thought and belief that has become more popular recently, that there existed a matriarchal religion that she become the center of after her curse. Which is what led to her beheading, murder, and the demonization of her story after that throughout history. The gods sent Perseus to slay her and the threat to the very patriarchal religion and society of Greece.

What Is A Gorgon?

Medusa was transformed into a gorgon and is considered to be a gorgon goddess so what is one? It’s thought that the word gorgon comes from the word gorgos which means fierce or terrible which makes sense when you look at their description. Gorgons are described as winged serpentine creatures. Their bodies are covered in scales and they have large, round heads with snakes sprouting from them instead of hair. Most of the sources I have read claim those snakes are venomous as well. Some poets even went so far as to describe their boar-like tusks and massive lolling tongue. Their large eyes are not often remembered, for they transform you to stone at a moment’s glance. The gorgons originate from Greek mythology and we only see 3 mentioned by name in texts and poems; Medusa the queen and her two sisters. Other than that we do not know if others exist or its simply these three sister as a result of Medusa’s curse. I lean towards that others exist since we have similar creatures like Nagas in other cultures as well.

What Does Medusa Look Like?

It’s said that Medusa was incredibly beautiful before she was transformed. She has been described by the Poet Ovid as having a beautiful face and long, flowing hair. I have to note many poets wrote of the maiden as a seductress despite her chastity bonds. But, you have to remember who the author is and that most of them were men. So, was she really a seductress or just a beautiful young women confident in her own body? However, once transformed, Medusa’s appearance tremendously changed. She had been transformed into a gorgon and her appearance changed to resemble that. It was said though by some poets including Pindar that she still appeared as a beautiful women underneath the scales and snakes for hair, unlike her sisters.

Medusa’s Gaze

Medusa has many powers but, her most famous power: the ability to turn men to stone is probably the most intriguing. It’s very important to note that throughout all the myths and epic poems, I have read, there is never once a record of her ever turning any woman to stone with her deadly gaze. Which really shows us that she uses it as a way to protect women. To take vengeance upon those who have taken advantage of women and binding those who intend to do them harm. It also shows the emphasis on her power lying in the feminine shadow and her connection to femininity.

Her gaze not only is a powerful weapon men fear, but it has a lot of symbolism for those who work with her to ponder. Medusa’s gaze can represent the inability to face certain truths or confronting one’s fears. To the point they leave us paralyzed in life or stuck. Medusa’s gaze can also represent the contrast between romantic idealism and reality. Avoiding looking into her eyes can represent avoiding our reality and the reality of the cosmos around us. So, when we choose to gaze into them we become paralyzed by the overwhelm of reality.

Medusa And Duality

Since I am a grey witch every single energy I work with I look at how it can help me maintain balance and how it can represent the cosmic energy of duality. Medusa embodies the complexity and duality of human nature. On one hand, she is depicted as a monster capable of petrifying men. But prior to that she was once a beautiful woman who was betrayed by the goddess she served. This duality reflects the intricate nature of humanity, showcasing how individuals can possess both positive vs negative or wanted vs unwanted aspects within themselves.

She also shows us the complex duality that exist within being a victim. Being victimized, abused, or violated can push us into a place of darkness, despair and deep hurting. It can set you back in your mental health, your life, and your journey to healing. Which doesn’t allow you to transform into your true self. Or instead we can take that pain and darkness and turn it into personal power and our ultimate weapon to protect ourselves. Just like we see Medusa do. She could have taken the curse and hid away but, instead she uses it to protect herself and others who come to her seeking it with a rage as fierce as a hurricane.

Correspondences To Connect To Medusa

First, what is a correspondence? A correspondence is an item or symbol that is meant to connect you to a specific energy thru it’s representation. It is seen also as an item to respect, honor, and venerate that energy as well whether it be an archetype energy , or the zodiac energy the moon is currently, or a deity, like I will list below for you to use. Keep in mind there isn’t written documentation in antiquity that will give you this list for her. This list is compiled by my own personal experience with her, and aligning with each of her energies we can connect too.

  • Animal-Snakes, reptiles,

  • Sex- Feminine
  • Symbol- snakes, Aegis, the sea or ocean, gorgons, the maiden, the pegasus, seashells,
  • colors- silver, green, black

  • Herbs- nettle, mugroot, sage, mandrake, frankincense, myrrh, rosemary, lavender, black cohosh, sea kelp
  • Stones/ crystals- Serpentine, black obsidian, smokey quartz, aquamarine, bloodstone, Labradorite, malachite, black tourmaline, moss agate,snakeskin jasper, tigers eye

How To Know Medusa Is Calling To Work With You

I get asked this question every time I write or teach about a goddess and even though some consider her a monster, for many witches and pagans, myself included she comes to them as a goddess. Remember, signs and messages appear in many different ways and are unique to the individual. It’s ultimately up to you to discern by opening up your clares, paying attention and listening to your intuition. Also, remember you can choose to work with her as well even if you don’t feel her calling to you. You can be the one to begin building that relationship by reaching out. Below is a list of some ways that you may know she is reaching out to you.

  • You hear her name randomly throughout the day or think of her often
  • She pops up around you in your life like in tv, movies, games, social media, books etc.
  • You get gifted something that is related to her
  • You see the symbol of snakes or actual snakes often cross your path
  • If you live near an ocean and you keep finding big chunks of coral
  • She appears to you in a vision, dream, meditation, or prayer
  • You are going through a time of transition, and shedding of your identity
  • When you are trying to conceive
  • If you are having issues with your femininity and/or menstrual cycle
  • You need protection especially if you are a woman seeking protection from a man
  • Seeking justice against someone who has violated you
  • You are working on healing sexual trauma
  • If you experience an awakening at a cave and/or body of water especially the ocean
  • If you feel called to work in women’s rights or volunteer at a women’s shelter
  • You are going through a time where society or your family is ostracizing you
  • You are ready to stand in your own power
  • You have been paralyzed in life or stuck and are ready to move forward
  • You have a deep bond with your sisters or are looking to create a deep bond
  • You are recovering from domestic violence

Ways To Work With and Connect To Medusa

Everyone’s relationship with deities is different and we all work with and believe in them differently. You might believe in multiple gods and goddesses and work with them each as though they are close, personal friends. Or maybe you believe the old gods are reflections of Universal energy and simply archetype energies that you can learn a lesson from. However you incorporate deities in your practice is up to you. But here are some ideas to get you started on ways to work with Medusa. Remember; it’s important to approach her with respect, reverence, gratitude and by building a relationship with her. Every time you work with a deity it is an even energetic exchange; which means what you put into your intention when working with them and building your relationship to them is what you get back.

Study, get to know her

As with every deity I have ever written about or taught about, The first way to get to know a deity, specifically a goddess like Medusa is to study all you can about her. I’ll be honest finding information on her can be a little scarce but, you can start by going back to the mythology section of this blog and go read the myths and stories she is in like; the different tellings of her rape, and being cursed, and her Murder at the hand of Perseus. Take time to consider how you interpret her story as well. Did Athena curse her and she turned it into a powerful tool of protection? Or did she give Medusa a gift to protect her from all men going forward? But, if that is the case why did she later gift perseus with the tool that led to her death? There is a lot to think about with her when learning about her, to build your relationship with her. Make sure to Learn about her sisters the other gorgons as well since they have such a fierce bond. You can even, study the culture, region, and worship of the people of Greece where she is from. The more you study and learn the better! When working with a deity it is all about building a true relationship with them and you do this first by getting to know who they are.

Dedicate Altar Space

Set aside some space in honor of Medusa. This can be an elaborate large altar or as simple as a small shelf or corner of a counter. Place a representation of Medusa there; be sure to cleanse the space before you invite her in. Include all of her colors, her symbols, and representations of snakes and any of her other correspondences you can use to connect to her. This will be a container that reminds you to connect with her and her energy. To allow you a container of protection, connecting to your power, and shedding your skin in transformation. Make sure when you create an altar for her that you keep poseidon far from it even though they both are connected to the oceans. I also don’t allow Athena near her either but, that will depend on your interpretation of her role in Medusa’s story. Remember to NEVER put a mirror or reflective item on her altar. It will turn her stone and it’s just disrespectful to represent the tool that led to her murder.

Offerings

Everyone loves receiving gifts, and that includes deities like Medusa. You don’t have to give her offerings every day, but when you feel it is appropriate. You can place these offerings at your altar or if you live near a body of water you can place them at the shoreline.You can even place them at the mouth of a cave if you have one available to you. You can also give her offerings when performing any work to connect to her like meditation, prayer, visualization, and spellwork. Below I will list some of the best offerings you can give her, but keep in mind these are just some ideas from my own personal experience with her and her corresponding energies. Just follow your intuition.

  • Seawater or representations of the sea
  • Pieces of coral
  • Plates of seafood and wine
  • snake skins or representations of snakes
  • seashells, driftwood, or other things found washed up on the shoreline
  • Evil eye charms
  • Any of the correspondences listed above like herbs and crystals that associate with her
  • sand
  • hagstone
  • Pearls
  • Seaweed
  • sea salt
  • Image or statue of her; especially of her gaze
  • Serving others in need especially women

Call on her during protection spells and magic

The Goddess Medusa is a known guardian, so she lends her aid to those who need her protection. If you are seeking aid or guardianship after a domestic dispute, a violation, or after being demonized, evoke the power of Medusa. With her ability to turn men to stone, when you call on her gaze for protection she is able to assist in some of the most potent bindings I have done. She can help bind those particularly, who pose a threat to women. She is also an intense force for justice and female empowerment which can be used in protection spells that challenge your enemies, allow you to face your deepest fears and to hex those who have abused or violated you. The goddess Medusa is a fierce force to aid you in protection. She rages with the force of a hurricane to assist you to stand up for yourself, seek vengeance, and break free from any chains, those who have hurt still bind you in.

Work With the Snake

Medusa is the goddess of snakes. The snake is her familiar and fierce protector. If you want to work with Medusa the snake should become an ally of yours. Now, this doesn’t mean you have to own one as a pet but, you can add them to your magical workings. You can work with them as a spirit guide or familar depending on your belief system. When working with them in that way, the snake or serpents can guide you to universal truths, cosmic knowledge, the shedding of skins, and profound healing. Lastly, you can even use the image of the snake in protection workings or snakeskins being added as spell ingredients, like in spell jars.

Shadow work To understand your own personal power

Just like with every other deity I have ever written or taught about shadow work is a phenomenal way to connect to and work with the goddess Medusa. I find that the most important thing Medusa will teach you is how to use your power. She’ll show you that you don’t need to be afraid of power and that the innate power you have inside of you is already strong and beautiful; you simply need to learn how to use it. She will show you through shadow work how powerful you truly can be, when you become the best version of yourself. When you don’t allow your emotions, past traumas, and the actions of others to drown you but, to empower you and fill you with rage!

Meditation, visualization and Dream work

One of the best ways to channel divine energy and tap into goddesses like Medusa is through meditation, visualization and dreaming. These practices allow you to open up and receive/ connect to divine energy in a very intuitive, clear, and transformative way. You will find a plethora of guided meditations on YouTube that will lead you to your spirit guide or god/goddess.. Try those if you have a hard time meditating on your own. I have many classes on youtube as well on previous deities you can watch where I even summon and guide you to them in sacred container. In addition, ask Medusa to visit you in your dreams and teach you lessons that you currently need to learn. Then record every encounter with her in your journal, book of shadows, or grimoire.

Ward off the Evil eye

Because of Medusa’s fearsome looks, her image was used for centuries in ancient Greece to ward off the evil eye. We see her image used in antiquity on soldiers armor, pieces of jewelry, and above the doors of homes. So, you to can use her image as a way to ward it off still today. You can carry an image of her with you or wear an amulet with one on it. You can even place it at the threshold of your home or above your doorway.

Water based magic

Medusa is a sea goddess. Because of this, all water-related magic, including working with the sea, storm magic, water scrying, and elemental magic. Water magic encompasses themes of emotions, intuition, healing, and spiritual transformation. It allows witches to dive deep into their emotions, heal past wounds, and connect with their inner wisdom. You can connect to this aspect of her for guidance when you need strong feminine power and the innately intuitive energy of water in your rituals. Or for spiritual and healing energy for true transformation.

Mirror Magic

Mirror gazing is a profound and symbolic aspect of working with the goddess Medusa, as it allows you to connect with the essence of her reflective power. The mirror, as a tool in your magical practice, represents introspection, self-reflection, and the power of seeing beyond the surface. This practice serves as a potent gateway to tap into Medusa’s transformative energy while acknowledging her famous mirrored shield. Prayers

One very powerful way to connect to a deity is through prayer. Things to Pray for: protection, power, healing from sexual trauma, aid with rage, justice, female empowerment, understanding and unlocking your own personal power, fertility, transformation, shedding an identity, breaking free from abusive bonds

Prayer To Medusa

This prayer is written by me and one I use especially during shadow work with her. You won’t find any written prayers from antiquity so, this is one you can use or you can follow your intuition and write your own.

I call to you dear goddess Medusa, the one who some call a monster But, I see your snakes as the protectors they are
I call to you dear goddess Medusa now is the time for me to shed my skin
To take my pain, my abuse, and violations committed against me and turn them into a fierce personal power
I call to you dear goddess Medusa to show me the way through your gaze
Guiding me into the depths of my emotions for healing and transformation and justice.
Dear goddess Medusa guide me so I may leave the seas within myself ready to rage with the power of hurricane behind me. To stand my ground in the face of any adversity.
To seek justice and vengeance against those who have abused and violated me.
Lend me your hair of snakes to petrify those who wish me harm into stone for eternity.

Fight for women’s rights and empowerment

Lastly, In recent years, Medusa has become a symbol of female empowerment. A statue was erected in Manhattan outside of the courthouse where Weinstein was brought to stand trial for numerous acts of assault against women even! Medusa stands proud and strong, holding Perseus’ severed head in her hand. In this we see the symbolic representation of women standing up against their abuser, and ultimately getting the justice owed to them. So, one great way to work with and connect to Medusa is by Standing up for women’s rights in whatever way you can and invoking the fierce, protective energy of Medusa the goddess. You can do things like join your local pro abortion activism group, volunteer at a domestic violence shelter, lobby at your local government for pro women legislation, vote, or become a sexual assault advocate.

Why work with Medusa?

So, after all we have talked about why should you work with Medusa? Working with the goddess Medusa encourages you to dive deep into a journey of self-discovery and empowerment, ultimately leading to a deeper understanding and trust in your inner power. Embracing Medusa is fundamental for personal growth and transformation. Medusa’s mythology, is a testament to the enduring strength and resilience that resides within her. About taking what was meant to be a curse and turning it into an ultimate tool for protection. Through the things that befall her, being victimized, and her many transformations, she emerged as a symbol of empowerment and fierce protection. Teaching us that even in the face of adversity, our inner strength can prevail. By trusting your inner power, you are aligning with Medusa’s spirit of unwavering resilience, rage, and justice. This trust in your inner power becomes the driving force for personal growth, resilience, protection and empowerment, aligning you with the essence of the goddess Medusa.

Working With The Expressive, Mind-Stirring, And Perspective Shifting Gemini New Moon

We are entering a new lunar phase this week; the New moon. As the Moon changes signs approximately every 2-3 days, we feel her influence over our moods and intuition shift. As the moon begins her cycle in Gemini it becomes an opportune time to initiate change, take action towards goals, renew oneself and shift your perspective. The Moon beginning her cycle in the curious and communicative sign of the Twins will stir our minds, increase our desire for variety, we will thirst for information, shift our perspectives and awaken our urge to connect with others. This very optimistic New Moon tends to gloss over potential problems, but its can-do attitude is one of its greatest strengths and makes it one of the least emotional new moons to experience.

Gemini is the sign of the mind, so the Gemini New Moon really stirs things up in our mind, and makes us more engaged, expressive, and communicative. We can connect with our minds, ideas can flow, our perspective can shift, and we can take action with our plans. We can share what we’re thinking, and information can be passed along. It’s a good time for learning anything, sharing knowledge, writing, or speaking.

With this new moon, we want a variety of projects and ideas to focus on, and we can go from one thing to the next quickly. So this new moon embrace the possibility that there are many ways and paths to reach the same destination. It is a time to honor new beginnings, and the turning over of a cycle. Think of these intentions as seeds you are planting for this lunar cycle to be ready to harvest by the full moon. Use this time to rest, reflect, and plant what you will grow just as your ancestors across many cultures did while there was little light in the night sky for them to use.

Gemini is an air sign and ruled by the planet Mercury, it’s about communication and trying different things in life, being adventurous, socializing, and using language as a tool. Our minds are a gift, a powerful tool that we can guide and use in whatever direction and purpose we desire. And so it’s time to use our minds for a higher purpose and for the highest purpose of humanity.

Gemini New Moon and Duality

Since, I am a grey witch every single energy I work with I look for the duality in that energy and how I can connect to it. This includes the new moon and the sign it currently is in; Gemini. This month’s new moon might seem pretty obvious to you; that it is literally the definition of dualistic energy to work with. First let’s talk about the duality of Gemini; the sign of the twins and aka the sign of duality in the zodiac. Gemini focuses on duality which means; the relationship between opposites. Logic and emotion, creator and created, “good and evil”, Wanted and unwanted, masculine and feminine, conscious and subconscious etc. and the union that exist between them. All of these are topics we can reflect on and work with using Gemini energy including using grey magic.

Gemini, represented by the twins, is all about the duality within us. Whether you call the two competing voices within the Ego and Soul, Higher Mind vs Lower Mind, or Inner critic vs Inner cheerleader, these dual voices exist within us all, and our role is to learn how to balance them out and keep them lovingly communicating with each other. This New Moon is less about manifesting new “things” and more about manifesting new thoughts that support us emotionally. This requires us to change our minds in order to change the thought patterns that aren’t currently supporting us and allowing us to truly be in alignment with our intentions.

Gemini reminds us that duality is a natural expression. YES, unity may be a goal, but duality is our reality on this planet right now, and to feel that internally is normal. The energy of duality allows us to be flexible, change our mind, go new directions and be multifaceted with our thoughts, reactions, and how we interact with others. If you’re feeling the tug between opposites, it’s actually okay.

Second; the new moon itself is all about duality and illuminating the night sky in both light and shadows. The new moon is all about rebirth, renewal, and the beginning of a new cycle, which puts you in a transitional liminal space and energy. In order for you to be in a space to begin again, to transition, and be reborn you had to just come from and ending and death.

What To Be Cautious Of This Gemini New Moon

We may be a little bit more scattered when this sign is aligned with the moon. Astrologers would categorize the Gemini Moon personality as easily distracted it’s hard to focus when there’s always something else that could use our attention. So, do your best to use skills that can help you focus like making to do lists, and grounding or centering often. We also need to be careful about the intensity level for how we react to things. When Gemini is affecting the moon each and every event no matter how small seems like it’s the most significant thing to happen to us. Cornucopia New Moon Abundance Spell

New moons are a great time to work on calling in the intention of abundance, prosperity, good luck, and wealth. Especially during a Gemini new moon which will open up new paths for you to receive abundance from which can lead to a massive increase in your life. The purpose of this spell is to attract prosperity, fortune, and abundance during the new moon through the use of an ancient sacred symbol of abundance the cornucopia.

What you will need:

  • A green candle; a votive size will work
  • Some bay leaves
  • A stick of cinnamon
  • A handful of Rice
  • Some coins and paper money ( I recommend doing 8 of each to connect to abundance)
  • Green aventurine *optional
  • A green piece of paper preferably cardstock
  • Tape

How to perform the spell:

Find a place you can be alone for a little bit undisturbed, and in quiet. Then put yourself into your sacred container connecting to the energy of abundance and the new moon. You can do this by meditating, grounding, calling your energy back, or doing breathing techniques like boxed breathing.

Once you feel anchored to the energy of abundance and the new moon. Begin by rolling the paper into a cone shape and securing the paper cone with a few pieces of tape. This cone becomes your cornucopia. As your roll the paper into a cone shape, say the following: “By the magic and abundance of the new moon I make this cornucopia tonight. To be a vessel of wealth, good luck, and prosperity”

Now grab your green candle and say: “As I hold this green candle in my hands I enchant it to send abundance across the land.” Now set your candle down feeling the energy of abundance filling the container around you. As you light your candle say; “Now burn with purpose both bright and true, green candle of abundance. May I be blessed in all that I do.”

While your flame continues to burn. Take and add the dollars, coins, bay leaves, cinnamon stick, and rice to the paper cornucopia. As you add each item thank it for the abundance it is about to bring to you. Once your cornucopia of abundance is overflowing hold it in your hands visualizing the energy of abundance and say: “This cornucopia is an ancient symbol of plenty. Now filled with coins, dollar bills, herbs connected to abundance, this spell will attract abundance swiftly to me! May this manifest in the most wanted possible way to bring healthy abundance to all of my days and in every way.”

Allow the candle to burn out in a safe place. Leave the cash, coins, bay leaves, cinnamon stick, and rice in the cornucopia for a full month. During this time, whenever you have an extra bill or loss change, add it to the cornucopia. This cornucopia will serve as your prosperity/abundance bowl for the month until the next new moon.

Candle Spell For Learning During Gemini New Moon

Do you want to strengthen your mind and be able to absorb knowledge better? This spells purpose is to do just that during a new moon in Gemini. All you will need is yourself, a quiet area, and a yellow candle. To make this spell more potent you can also hold selenite and then keep it on you when you are studying or learning the rest of the lunar cycle.

How to do spell:

Find a place you can be alone for a little bit undisturbed, and in quiet. Then put yourself into your sacred container connecting to the energy of knowledge, learning, studying and Gemini. You can do this by meditating, grounding, calling your energy back, or doing breathing techniques like boxed breathing.

Once you feel anchored to the energy of learning and Gemini. Light a yellow candle for mental clarity. If you’d like, you can hold a piece of selenite in your non-dominant hand as you write down the ways you want to improve your learning. Visualize yourself learning easily, taking in new ideas and being receptive to lessons you can learn. Once you vision seems clear recite this spell out loud; “I am open to learning anything and everything there is to learn. I learn easily and quickly. My mind works perfectly.” Blow out the candle when you are done and come place in your favorite place to study and learn.

Working With The Loving, Bright, Vital, And Balancing Energy Of June

Every single month has its own energy, and frequencies we can connect to that are unique. When we connect to the month’s energy and frequencies we can find ourselves living a much more aligned, and magical life. We have the ability to amplify our magical workings, intentions, and manifesting. Let’s talk about how to do that with the month of June.

An explosion of vitality shines brightly down on the Earth this month from the Sun. And that joy of living is transferred to the spirit in everything all around us like; in the activities of humans, like camping, BBQS, concerts, community events, and an increase in weddings this month. In the full hustle and bustle of nature with young running around now, gardens fully growing, and flowers blooming. We see it even in celebrations this month. Like the arrival of midsummer with Litha and the longest day of the year when we observe the height of the sun. The celebration of all kinds of love, with the celebration of the LGBT community being Pride month. Then the focus of fatherly love on father’s day. This month has also been known from antiquity in rome and greece to be the best and most popular month to get married. Love is around every corner in June; sexual love as well as self-love through your self worth, fatherly love and romantic love through marriage and relationships.

The month of June continues the fiery and passionate energy of May with the sun intensifying that energy and the days beginning to get longer. The month of June is vibrant, energetic, creative, lustful, fertile, joyous, bright, loving, and brimming full with the vitality of the sun. Once the celebration of Litha happens, the days begin to get longer, and we enter the second half of the year; this month becomes all about self improvement, reevaluating our goals and intentions, organization, cleaning/cleansing, and performing magic for strength and motivation.

In the month of June we see some themes from both May and April continued as well. It’s a time like the previous months to honor the sun’s power, celebrate the Earth’s abundance, and harness the energy of growth and vitality. This month continues to be a time to focus on positive change, growth and new opportunities. As well as taking the time to celebrate under the vibrant rays of the sun your successes you have already had this yearly cycle. This month is a time to truly focus on aligning ourselves with the natural rhythms of the solar system and the turning of the wheel through the brightest rays of the sun we will have access to throughout the year. This month is a time to align ourselves with the sense of balance that we are pushed into with it also being the midway mark of our chronological year.

Make sure to use those energies and themes to nourish your seeds planted in March, that you watered in April, and you Nourished in May. Focus on making sure you are allowing the joyous, loving and Vital rays of the sun to shine onto your manifestations, intentions, and goals for the year. History Of The Month Of June

The month of June is named after the Roman Goddess of Marriage, Juno. It may also be derived from the Roman word iuniores meaning “young ones”. Some scholars also believe it is also possible that this month was dedicated to the Junior branch of the legislature. June is known as the sixth month of the Gregorian Calendar, and June is considered the first month of summer.

The month of June also featured other prominent symbols like hera, Danu, and even Zeus where we see balance in this month again. Zeus, the ‘father of all gods’, was honored in mid-June (mid-summer) in Ancient Greece, which is the reason many believe the origins of Father’s Day, our honoring and celebration of fathers this month, is actually associated with this god.

Zodiac Signs For The Month Of June

People born in June are either Geminis (May 21–June 20) or Cancers (June 21–July 22):
Geminis are represented by the Twins, Geminis are said to be smart, curious, quick-witted, and social butterflies. They are also known for juggling many passions, hobbies, careers, and friend groups.
Cancers are represented by the Crab, Cancers are said to be intuitive, caring, protective, and empathetic. They are also said to be able to exist in both emotional and material realms, and are willing to do whatever it takes to protect themselves emotionally.

Sacred Days And Celebrations In June

Every Single month has sacred and important days and celebrations to help you connect to the energies of the month. Plus they usually are a lot of fun to take part in! Let’s talk about a couple of the sacred days and celebrations for the month of June.

Litha/ Midsummer

The Summer Solstice; the longest day of the year! This pagan holiday, also known as Litha, is all about celebrating the light in our lives the sun! As we look around us and see in nature our gardens starting to sprout, flowers blooming, the birds flying around, the bees zooming about pollinating, and the grass coming back from winter we know we have the warm, bright, and vibrant sun to thank for it. Litha is a time to celebrate the abundance and beauty of the Earth. It truly is the celebration of the fullness of nature and the strength and power of the sun.

It’s another fire festival like the one we celebrated last month Beltane. But, it also is a time when we both celebrate the Sun while also remembering that darker days are coming. With the realization that the days will steadily begin to grow shorter; and that this is a fire festival it becomes another sabbatt when we get to connect to our passions, desires, and the things that truly bring us joy in life.

Litha is a pagan holiday and also one of Wicca’s eight sabbats that takes place on the summer solstice, the longest day of the year. It’s also known as Midsummer and is celebrated around June 21 in the Northern Hemisphere. The word “Litha” comes from the Anglo-Saxon word for “midsummer”. Father’s Day

Father’s Day is a holiday honoring one’s father, as well as fatherhood, paternal bonds, love from the divine masculine and the influence of fathers in society. In Catholic countries of Europe, it has been celebrated on 19 March as Saint Joseph’s Day since the Middle Ages. Zeus, the ‘father of all gods’, was honoured in mid-June (mid-summer) in Ancient Greece, which is the reason many believe he is the origin of Father’s Day in that region as well.

In more modern times in the United States there are two different versions of the history of father’s day. According to some accounts, the first Father’s Day was celebrated in Washington state on June 19, 1910. A woman by the name of Sonora Smart Dodd came up with the idea of honoring and celebrating her father while listening to a Mother’s Day sermon at church in 1909. She felt as though mothers were getting all the acclaim while fathers were equally deserving of a day of praise. The other story of the first Father’s Day in America happened all the way on the other side of the country in Fairmont, West Virginia on July 5, 1908. Grace Golden Clayton suggested to the minister of the local Methodist church that they hold services to celebrate father’s after a deadly mine explosion killed 361 men.

Pride Month

LGBTQ Pride Month is a commemoration of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer community that is part celebration and part protest. It is often associated with massive parades and parties that honor the community’s joys and accomplishments. This month is really all about the idea of celebrating all kinds of love no matter how it may look to others. But the rallies, marches and political actions can be just as important to draw attention to the issues still facing the community. LGBTQ Pride Month traces its roots back to the 1969 Stonewall riots, which started on June 28, 1969. The first Pride marches started the following year, on June 28, 1970, to commemorate the multi day riots, and these one-day celebrations eventually evolved into a full month of LGBTQ pride.

Other Sacred Days

  • June is Black Music Month, Caribbean Heritage Month, and LGBT Pride Month
  • The first 12 days of June are sacred to Hera
  • Father’s Day is the 3rd Sunday in June
  • The Summer Solstice is celebrated on or around June 21st in the Northern Hemisphere (it is the Winter Solstice in the Southern Hemisphere)
  • In Europe, Midsummer’s Day is celebrated on June 24th
  • Litha is a Midsummer holiday celebrated by many pagans and Witches usually falling between June 20th-22nd
  • St John’s Day is June 24th
  • Icelandic custom says that you won’t age that year if you bathe in the morning dew on June 24th.

Magical And Witchcraft Themes For June

In witchcraft, June is a time of abundance, vitality, and celebration. As the height of summer approaches in the Northern Hemisphere, witches embrace the warmth and energy of the sun. As we talked about above June is associated with the summer solstice, also known as Midsummer or Litha, a time of celebration marking the longest day of the year. Which connects us to themes like energy, motivation, self improvement, strength, balance, duality, and vitality. We also see many witches using this time to perform spells and rituals for fertility, abundance, and prosperity by connecting to the nourishing energy of the sun and the vibrancy and movement of life all around us in nature.

The Gods And Goddesses Of June

With every season and month there are certain themes, magic, and energies we have the ability to connect to including deities. Everyone works with and views deity energy a little differently. Whether you view them as archetypes of the human consciousness, representations of the source energy, or as being entities on their own, there are certain deities that now is the time to connect to and honor them in the most sacred and amplified way.

During this month a few deities take center stage because they have festivals or sacred days during this month to help you connect with them in a very intimate way. The deities that are going to be the best for you to connect to right now are going to be those who represent love, abundance, personal development, balance, courage, personal power, and the Sun. You can also work with any deities connected to sacred days like Litha. Below we will talk about some of the deities you can work with this month.

Iris

First up in honor of pride and the connection to the rainbow let’s talk about the greek goddess Iris. Iris, is the Greek Goddess of the Rainbow and Messenger of the Gods, and she has an important place in Greek mythology. Known for her vivid look and elegant presence, Iris is the divine connection between gods and mortals. But Iris is more than a messenger. She symbolizes the radiance, brilliance, and enchantment of rainbows, a sight that humans have been charmed by for a long time. Iris is different from other goddesses. Other gods sometimes meddle with human affairs out of fun or interest. But Iris is devoted to her mission. She shows loyalty and adherence to duty, never stopping in her mission to keep communication between Olympus and Earth open.

Even though she is most well known as the goddess of rainbows and messenger to the gods; she is also known as a goddess of the sea and sky. In some regions she is depicted as a virgin goddess and was believed by the coastal-dwelling Greeks to replenish the rain clouds with water from the sea. She was often described as Hera’s personal messenger and one of her handmaidens. Since this month is all about love and the first part of it is dedicated to Hera this makes it a really great month to work with her! Juno

Let’s talk about Juno the goddess June is named after next. Juno, the Roman goddess of marriage, the family, and childbirth was a paramount figure embodying the sanctity and power of matrimonial union and the family. The Roman goddess Juno is among the first gods and goddesses of ancient Rome who is in charge of the women’s lives in the state. Juno’s symbol, which is a peacock, represents her watchful vigilance and her role as the protector of the community. It is assumed that the term “Juno” meant “the young one” because of her association as the goddess of the new and waxing moon. This celestial connection perhaps implying the idea of growth and beginnings, aligns with her domains.

Today, it is accepted that the Roman goddess Juno has the title “Regina” meaning Queen which gives her the title of the “Queen of the Gods.” Juno, being a multifaceted deity, was also the wife and sister of Jupiter, the King of all the Roman gods. She was often represented as the female counterpart to Mars the god of war, highlighting her influence in both the domestic and political spheres. Although the Roman goddess Juno had dominion over family, marriage, and childbirth, she is often depicted to be in a warlike stance, an illustration that is often favored upon by Roman soldiers.

Hera

Next up we have another queen of the gods but, this time from greece who is very closely linked to Iris as well, Hera. Hera, the queen of the gods, holds a significant place in Greek mythology. Hera, was born to the Titans Cronos and Rea. Hera’s marriage to Zeus, known as the hieros gamos or sacred marriage, stands as a central aspect of her mythology. Together, they symbolized the union of sky and earth, with all the gods presenting gifts to celebrate this momentous occasion.

Hera’s legendary jealousy and relentless pursuit of Zeus’ extramarital affairs are well-documented. As her husband’s infidelities became apparent, she unleashed her wrath on his lovers, seeking retribution for their trespasses. From nymphs to mortal women, Hera’s persistent and often vengeful nature showcased a dimension of her personality that was both formidable and unyielding. Hera played a pivotal role in the Judgement of Paris, an event that sparked the Trojan War. Alongside Athena, Aphrodite, and Eris where we see her jealous on full display. There are many connections she has with other deities of the pantheon as well including her role in the birth of Artemis and Apollo. And her connection to the goddess of rainbows Iris. Who was often described as Hera’s personal messenger and one of her handmaidens. She is often depicted next to her in many pieces of artwork and in myths. Hera even supported the legendary hero Heracles, commonly known as Hercules, and aided him during his trials. Hera’s interactions with other gods and goddesses shaped the course of mythology and played a significant role in several legendary stories.

Danu

Danu a celtic goddess, also known as Anu or Dana, she represents the divine maternal figure and her influence spread throughout Eastern Europe to Ireland. Danu was worshipped as a goddess of fertility, wisdom, and the wind. She nurtured the gods and she adopted became known as; the Tuatha Dé Danann, the Irish pantheon associated with the fairy folk.

Danu played a vital role in Celtic cosmology, embodying the nurturing and fertile aspects of femininity. As a goddess of fertility, she was associated with the abundance of the land and the growth of crops. Danu was also revered for her wisdom and connection to the wind. It was believed that she possessed profound knowledge, acting as a guide for the gods and the mortal inhabitants of the Celtic world. According to ancient Celtic beliefs, Danu not only nurtured the gods but also served as a protector and sustainer of life.

Zeus

Zeus, the Greek god of the sky, is considered the ruler, protector, and father of both gods and humans. Known for his ability to control thunderstorms and powerful weather phenomenal. Zeus was the sister and husband to Hera. Zeus also had numerous extramarital affairs, often assuming animal forms to seduce his lovers and these affairs had significant impact on the greek mythology and the other deities.

Zeus was the son of Cronus and Rhea, two powerful titans. Cronus, fearful of being overthrown, swallowed his children at birth. However, Rhea managed to save Zeus by hiding him on the island of Crete. As Zeus grew up in secrecy, he became determined to overthrow his father and free his siblings. With the help of his mother and the Titan Metis, Zeus devised a plan to make Cronus regurgitate his swallowed children. Upon defeating Cronus and the titans, Zeus became the ruler of the world and the heavens. Zeus presided over the council of gods and playing a crucial role in maintaining order and justice. He was revered as the protector and father figure of gods and humans alike. Which is why I listed him here in the list for the month of June. Many scholars feel that father’s day being this month may be tied to honoring him as the father figure to all.

First, what is a correspondence? A correspondence is an item or symbol that is meant to connect you to a specific energy thru it’s representation. It is seen also as an item to respect, honor, and venerate that energy as well whether it be a deity, an archetype energy, the zodiac energy the moon is currently or for time of the year like a month, which I will list below for you to use. How To Connect To The Magic Of June

We’ve talked a lot about all the different types of energies the month of June has and gives us access to work with. So, how can you specifically connect to those energies? In your everyday life you can make sure your affirmations , intentions, and manifestations align with the energies of love, desire, passion, maternal love, Paternal love, creativity, family, transformation, joy, energy, and fertility. You can celebrate and honor any of the sacred days and holidays like Litha and work with the season of summer. You can take the time to really truly work on expressing your most authentic self proudly, to connect to the energy of pride all month long as well.

Some Rituals and spell workings during this time that will be really intensified will be based on growth, and fertility. You can do things like create a lucky money bag, a prosperity bowl, or perform some spells using egg magic. June is a time of the year where many witches are able to really connect to the Sun and all of nature around us. We can use this time to physically reconnect with nature through all kinds of nature magic, earthing, grounding, weather magic and elemental magic.

With Litha and the longest day of the year upon us in the month of June this is one of my favorite times to perform solar magic. These spells will be really potent for you right now and allow you to do things increase energy, add protection to your home and family, and work on your self esteem. You can also use solar magic to help you create balance and harmony between, the you that you allow others to see and the one you keep hidden inside. You can do this through mirror magic with the sun and calling on the sun during shadow work. To start working with the sun and solar magic this month you can begin by greeting the sun each morning in prayer and gratitude using many methods across cultures. Other rituals and spell workings that would be powerful to perform during the month of June will be based on Love, sex, and divine union. The month of June starts with the continuation of the fiery and passionate blaze of sex and co creation with Beltane happening last month in May. That energy is felt throughout the entire month and reignited in the energy of Litha. You see it in nature even as the bees are busy pollinating flowers, the animals are mating, and humans are all about love and marriage this month with weddings happening all the time. I myself got married this month. So, take the time to really allow yourself to access your true desires and passion. By expressing your love and union through your physical bodies this month by doing some sex magick rituals or spells. I personally love sex magic within my marriage it really strengthens our bond, and you get access to some really magically connections.

With June being connected to Litha and the turning point of the year Another way you can access the energy of expansion is through the expression of transformation and the element of water. Other Ways To Celebrate And Work With June

When we want to use the energy around us to affect our magical practices and rituals we can amplify that by doing things in our every day life to align with the energy as well. You can align with the energies of love, desire, passion, maternal love, Paternal love, creativity, family, transformation, joy, energy, and fertility. You can do this with affirmations, mantras, intentions, goal setting, and being in nature By adding the emotional depth and transformation of the element of water through ritual baths, water releases, and cleansing yourself in the rain as it falls.

The month of June is a month full of love starting from left over energy of beltane, then expressions of paternal love, and the acceptance of love in forms with pride. This month take the time to focus on the energy of love for yourself, and others in all ways and really explore all facets of the energy of love this month. You can do things like making sure you get yourself outside breathing the fresh air and getting in touch with the element of water to connect to deep emotions. You can also make sure to nourish yourself and show yourself some self love by taking a self love ritual bath. Lastly, take some time to look at your relationship with your father, and with the divine father to determine if you have a father wound that you may need to work on healing this month. Also take the time to look at how you are expressing yourself through your sexual and/or gender identity. Are you being authentic with that? If you are not, why? This is a great month to allow you to freely work with that aspect of yourself and express it with pride and love.

f you didn’t start working with them the last couple months in April or May don’t worry; June is also the perfect month and time to start working with the Fae and the Faery realm. You can start doing this by planning and than planting your Faery Garden so your flowers will start blooming in the next month. Some things I recommend to have for your faery garden will be listed below and keep a look out for a blogpost coming to go in depth on adding one of these to your yard and practice.

Duality And The Month Of June

Since, I am a grey witch I look for the duality in every single energy I work with including sacred times like a month of the year like June. June is really just overflowing with duality in balance and in almost every sense of the energy. First, let’s look at chronologically where this month lands, literally right in the middle. This really does put us into quite a liminal space of time. We seem to be struggling between celebrating coming this far into the year and understanding we also are on the way towards the end. I don’t know about you guys but, for me my desire to create, ideas for new projects, and a refueling of the passions for my goals really comes alive in this month. But, than I also feel the pressure of completing my goals by the end of the year which will be here sooner than I usually think.

Secondly, similarly to being in the middle of the chronological year this month also connects us to the sacred day of Litha and the sun. Which is the longest day of the year and when we greet the sun on it’s brightest and most potent day of the year. To then immediately feel it begin to fade and weaken when the sun sets and moon rises. It’s a fleeting yet potent time of transformation, rebirth and death happening all at once under the bright rays of the sun. Allowing us access to a very liminal space that shines with the bright rays of the sun while being overshadowed by the long coming night that is winter around the corner.

I could keep talking about the duality of June for much longer but, the last thing I will touch on is the duality we experience in the energy of love that is overflowing in June. When it comes to working with the energy of love I am sure some light workers will argue with me until the end of time that it’s all just wanted or positive energy. But, I disagree in order to love fully and unconditionally you must first do the work to allow the space to feel and receive that level of energy. This for most is a very uncomfortable, dark, and hard process. On top of that if you are working with the energy of love in the sense of a relationship, marriage, or union that means you have to be willing to experience some uncomfortable conversations. To go through some unwanted and uncomfortable feelings to grow together as well and fully experience what love is meant to do; heal, transform and assist you in evolution.

Allow the joyous, loving and Vital rays of the sun to shine onto you this June

We talked about many things in this blogpost including the history, some celebrations, the different energies and magical themes we can work with during this month, how to connect to those energies, deities we can honor and worship, and how to work with the magic of June. No matter how you choose to work with the energies and magic of June make sure to be focused on continuing your rebirth for this year. Make sure to use those energies and themes to nourish your seeds planted in March, that you watered in April, and you Nourished in May. Focus on making sure you are allowing the joyous, loving and Vital rays of the sun to shine onto your manifestations, intentions, and goals for the year. Working with Lady Nada as an ascended master of the pink ray light

Beyond our ancestors, angels and spirit guides are there any guides willing to help us reach enlightenment? Willing and ready to help bring humanity into the next dimension and achieve harmony with one another and all that is? The answer is a resounding YES. They are called Ascended Masters in the spiritual community.

Revered as an ascended master and divine healer, Lady Nada’s spiritual mission ties with love, compassion, and healing, personal development, law/justice and ministering to others, reflecting her very nurturing, loyal, and devoted essence. She is connected to the mystical and elusive lands of Atlantis and the concept of twin flames and is also revered as the Chohan of the Pink Ray of divine love. She brings to those who choose to work with her knowledge of transformation and healing in all forms. She is gentle and kind but has a very strong focus with strength and empowerment within her. Let me guide you to the compassionate, loving, and devoted Lady Nada as an ascended master of the pink ray light in this blogpost.

First, what is an ascended Master?

Before we dive into the depths of love that is chohan Lady nada we must first talk about what an ascended master is. Especially if this is your first time working with one. I have already taught an in depth class on this topic as well with Divination Academy. You can watch it here.

The term “Ascended Masters” is somewhat new but the concept is ancient and crosses cultures worldwide. This group of spiritual beings has been guiding us since the beginning of time. It’s just that they’ve been called something else, including bodhisattvas, gods, saints, light elves, valkyries, the Hidden Company, psychopomps, the Mighty Dead, the Great White Lodge, archangels, Tzaddikim, archetypes, the galactic council, loa and more. As you learn more about these Ascended Masters, you’ll notice they can all be classified as something else. But the truth is, they are all elevated souls that are committed to helping humanity in its ascension.

Some were incarnated in a human body, while others have never incarnated. For those who came into an earthly body, after death they merged with their higher selves, sometimes called “light bodies” (Penczak, Ascension Magick). If we were to define a spiritual hierarchy between us and the Divine/Source, Ascended Masters would lie in between…in the middle. They are, essentially, mediums or channels of the Divine. And we can reach out and connect with these Ascended Masters in order to receive the Divine’s blessings and enlightenment. In this way Ascended Masters will act as guides, but their teaching is of the highest possible vibration and focused on ascension- helping you to raise your vibration and expand your consciousness.

In the past some thought to have an Ascended Master as a guide was rare, and something reserved only for advanced, old souls… But today it’s not rare at all. Today, we live in ascension times and everyone I’ve ever met, or seen or heard of, has had at least one Ascended Master with them.

Ascended Master Teachings

The Ascended Master Teachings, a collection of philosophies stemming from Theosophy but expanding on its foundational principles. These teachings offered more detail about the identities, histories, and roles of the Ascended Masters. Within the teachings, Ascended Master Lady Nada was recognized as a guide and healer, associated with divine love and compassion.

Later we see, The Bridge to Freedom, another branch of teachings based off Theosophy founded by Geraldine Innocente in the 1950s, which also played a crucial role in shaping Lady Nada’s narrative. Here, Lady Nada’s role was further refined, associating her with the concept of Twin Flames and further linking her to healing through the Pink Ray and Rose Flame.

Ascended Masters Vs Spirit Guides

Before we go any further talking about the ascended master Lady nada we must also discuss the difference between ascended masters and spirit guides. There is a difference between the two even though this is a debate of difference within personal practice. Some consider ascended masters simply a type of spirit guide and some do not. I follow the path that they are not. 

The main difference between spirit guides and Ascended Masters, is that the Ascended Masters have fully ascended, while spirit guides have not.

Ascended Masters are free from the wheel of karma and the cycle of death and rebirth.  Now, from the realms of spirit they continue to walk their ascension path. Many Ascended Masters also choose to support and guide people on their ascension paths. How Karma Relates To Ascended Masters

We all have karma or some version of it,  with the word “karma” meaning “to learn” which implies we all have lessons to learn. Which can be carried over from past lives and actions you’ve taken during your current life. However, with every pure action, you take from a soul level, for the greater good coming from love. This begins the process of clearing any “karmic debt” and putting you on the path to ascension and ending the karmic cycle of having to reincarnate in a physical human form.

Why It’s Worth Listening To The Ascended Masters Like Lady Nada

Ascended masters like lady nada were able to ascend by aligning with divine qualities and their true soul’s purpose and perspective, ascending above the limited views of the ego. Like connecting to and living the qualities of divine love. Doing this has led to their enlightenment and ascending this physical realm.

Which makes them not only divine wise beings but, they’re also spiritual teachers that understand through their own experiences the struggles and challenges that you are going through. Including heartbreak, betrayal, not understanding your true worth as a spiritual being, and how your temporary human form is just a drop in the ocean. The ocean that we are all connected by as one, temporary being expressed as a single drop.

The Seven Rays

When Working with an Ascended Master like Lady Nada you need to have a basic understanding of the seven rays of light. By understanding and following the path of the seven rays with the assistance of an ascended masters like lady nada you will uncover many hidden secrets, cosmic knowledge, and your most authentic self. You will know the once hidden secrets of the 7 rays and their qualities. Which are manifestations of the oneness we are all connected to and come from, and how to use them to accelerate your spiritual growth. Including assistance with almost anything else in your life, you desire including, healing, finding purpose, love, and more.

The seven rays are subdivisions that make up the main source of energy that we all come from and are linked to the oneness of all that is. The seven rays are an expression from the creator, God, the divine, the source, and qualities of the oneness everyone and everything comes from. The seven rays are living intelligent sources of divine light that give life to everything in the universe.

Each ray is governed by a Chohan (lord) also known as an ascended master that Rules over that ray. Chohan’ originates from Tibetan Buddhism and is often translated as ‘Lord’ or ‘Master.’ In the context of Ascended Masters and the Seven Rays of Light, a Chohan like Lady Nada is seen as the steward or overseer of a particular ray, embodying its qualities like love and guiding its use in the spiritual development of humanity.

Even though there is a lot behind the teachings of the seven rays that go far back in history. The main teachings are that each of the rays contains lessons for different paths of spiritual growth. And by learning all of these lessons you will understand and embody divine unconditional love.

There is currently a huge energetic shift happening on our planet and by being out of alignment or not learning the lessons from every ray. This will cause you to feel like something is missing or unstable in your life, even if on the surface by cultural standards you have everything together and are “successful”.

Who is Lady Nada?

Now that you have a basic understanding of what and ascended master is, and why you should be working with one, who is the ascended mater Lady Nada?

In one incarnation, Lady Nada is said to have worked on Atlantis in the healing arts and served as a priestess in the Temple of Love. She served in the Temple of Love, dedicating her divine work to fostering the spiritual attributes of love and compassion. She also was known as a lawyer on Atlantis, where she pioneered the efforts of divine justice for the unfortunate or forgotten members of society.

Lady Nada is all about awakening our heart center, and bringing us to divine love. Lady Nada opens our hearts to receive the divine love that we deserve and she also expands our heart to reveal the true, authentic, natural aspect of our very soul essence. Her role in the Temple of Love was not just to worship the concept of love but to emanate this divine feeling throughout Atlantis and beyond. By extending this vibration, she aimed to create a harmonious unity among its inhabitants.

Lady Nada was a high priestess working in not only the temple of love but, it was also known as the temple of self-transformation. She had great knowledge and understanding of the physical karma that affected the spirit and soul through the higher self that needed to be cleared. She had learned many techniques of healing such as sound, color, manifestation, working with crystals, working with anointing oils, herbs and counselling techniques, to heal the whole body. She taught this to the Priest’s and Priestesses of Atlantis that worked with her to heal the population that came to the temple.

Some even believe one of her incarnations she was the mother of John the Baptist, Lady Nada Portia. She was well known for her feminine energy and her beauty. Lady Nada focused on and worked with the Heart Chakra. This focus allows for the enhancement of feminine energy. She is also known to help balance the feminine energy within masculine spheres. Lady Nada is said to minister the world’s children via scores of angels focused on the youth. Because of this association with children and she helps us opening our heart, she can help us heal our inner child.

Lady Nada’s next life is thought to be in India where early on as a young girl her gifts came through extraordinarily and people were drawn to her she taught as a female guru working in this life time with yoga to help clear energy blocks in the body and working with food groups that can cleanse the body and restore balance.

Today, master Lady Nada is the patroness of teachers, nurses, ministers, lawyers and all those who place the needs of others before their own in their daily activities and choices. Lady Nada’s story demonstrates for us an example of disciplined action, employing the focused goal of selflessness in thought, word and action. It is said Master Lady Nada made her ascension nearly 3,000 years ago.

Lady Nada Chohan Of Divine Love

Lady Nada serves as the Chohan of the 6th Ray, often referred to as the Ray of love, devotion and idealism. I have seen it referred to as the pink ray of light and at times the violet ray of light. But is most commonly accepted as the pink ray of light. The pink Ray is associated with the qualities of love, compassion, service, devotion, and idealism. Lady Nada exemplifies these qualities in her teachings and works to inspire individuals to embody them in their own lives. She encourages the practice of unconditional love and compassion towards oneself and others as a means of spiritual growth and transformation.

The Pink Ray Of Light

Lady Nada can guide individuals on their journey toward emotional healing and teach them the essence of unconditional love. She does this through the guidance and endless compassion and devotion of the pink ray of light. The Pink Ray represents the pure essence of divine love and compassion.

The pink ray of light also known as the Ray of Divine Love, symbolizes the all-encompassing compassion, empathy, and unconditional love that binds all creation. Including the deep importance of extending it to yourself through self love. This Ray is dedicated to nurturing the heart’s wisdom, fostering understanding, harmony, and embracing universal love. It guides individuals to a deeper connection with themselves and others, promoting a loving and compassionate approach to life.

The Pink Ray embraces all parts of your Soul Self which may have fragmented off due to trauma, stress and accidents within your life a well. It comforts and reminds you that love of Self is the key, it is our most important and personal responsibility. That moving through grief and trauma needs to be focused on when healing your inner core and the inner child opening a river of unconditional love to flow through your soul.

Connecting To The Pink Ray Of Light

Connecting to ascended masters can be easier than you might think. Being that the Ascended Masters are ascended, it only makes sense that we work on our own ascension in order to fully connect with them.
The first way we can do this is to raise our vibration. How do we raise our vibration? We hear this phrase a lot in the magical community but often no explanation as to how to actually do it. First thing is purification. Of body, mind, and soul. This means releasing toxic habits and people from our lives. This may even include performing protection magics like chord cuttings, freezer jar spells, and banishing. W e also must clear our minds of negative thought patterns. And purifying our souls through energy work and cleansing rituals. In addition, here’s how else we can raise our vibrations and work with the Ascended Masters.

Meditation
Meditation is when we are in a state of reception. We quiet our minds, bodies, and souls enough to hear the Divine speak to us. We allow the Ascended Masters to show us things, teach us, heal us, communicate with us. Even if you think you’re bad at meditation, I promise you’re not. It takes practice and time. Try guided meditations. Try different kinds of music and atmospheres. You’ll find the right combination. Also make sure you are grounding regularly to help replenish energy to be able to meditate.

Meditation To Speak With Lady Nada

By focusing inwards, on your heart and taking several big deep breaths in through your nose, and exhaling through your mouth until you start to feel relaxed. If you know how to do boxed breathing you can use that skill here as well.
Now, get clear in your mind which ascended master you want to connect with and ask that master out loud or within your mind to come and assist you. This time it will be Lady Nada.
And then ask by calling her name Lady Nada
“Lady Nada, what negative energies are attached to me? What things are allowing me to not live my life based on love, devotion, and service to those in need.”
Pay attention to your inner voice…
Listen to your heart and internal guidance…
Now ask, “Where is my energy being drained?… Is anyone or anything draining my energy?…
Is it people, family…low vibrational entities?”
Now focus on your heart…
And with this awareness, ask “How do I release these negative energies and attachments?…”
Now continue to focus on your heart…
Notice any signs or sensations that come to you and your mind, Allow the pink divine energy from Lady Nada to flow through to and feel any negative energy begin to dissipate…
You are now Standing in your connection to love. With this deep connection, ask to be guided by love, compassion, and devotion to others.
Feel and see a sphere of pink light surrounding you and filling your entire body…

Which are the highest and strongest protective energies that are now surrounding your aura.

Another way to work with the rays of light is something most of us are familiar with; which is affirmations. Affirmations can be used with almost any and all energies you want to connect to and work with. They do this in a lot ways but, mainly by helping us stay in tuned and aligned with those energies on a more constant and consistent basis.

Since I am a grey witch every single energy I work with I look at how it can help me maintain balance and how it can represent the cosmic energy of duality. This includes lady nada and the pink ray of light. Most would think with her being the chohan of divine love there can not be a balance and there could be nothing unwanted with that. But, I would say you are wrong. When it comes to fully encompassing divine love; that means you do so for all of humanity and those around you which requires being able to radically forgive and often. Doing that requires you doing some deep inner work and allowing unwanted emotions to be felt. You have to feel those unwanted emotions in order to make room for the all encompassing divine love you are connecting to. Along with putting yourself into a grey space or morality when it comes to loving fellow humans no matter what. For example; A human who has sexual abused or assaulted a child? How would you unconditionally love them? To do this you end up in a grey space and liminal space of morality and ethics.

Also love in the sense of a relationship isn’t always an easy and wanted thing to maintain and takes a lot of deep connection and willingness to experience uncomfortable and unwanted emotions, and conversations. Trust me I know I have been with my husband for 13 years now. Another reason why I would say you are wrong is when working with an ascended master the whole point is to transition and ascend. Which as I have talked about before is a very dualistic energy and forces us into some of the most liminal spaces within ourselves. In order to transition, transform, and ascend you must be in those liminal spaces to experience your death to be reborn.

However you choose to work with Lady nada remember; She brings to those who choose to work with her knowledge of transformation and healing in all forms. She is gentle and kind but has a very strong focus with strength and empowerment within her that allows her to fight for you and protect you when it is needed. She will guide you to divine love through understanding all aspects of love/ This includes connections with others and yourself. She also gives a space of compassion and comfort to understand the impact traumas, grief, and tragedy have had on us. Why Coming Out As A Bisexual Woman, In A Hetero Or Straight Appearing Relationship Was Hard

This month(June) kicks off LGBT PRIDE month! Pride month is a month dedicated to the celebration and commemoration of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender pride.

Those who identify as bisexual are among those to be included this pride month. But, bisexual people often exist in a grey area, simultaneously ostracized by the LGBTQ+ community as not “gay enough” and heterosexual people as not “straight enough.” Others tell them they are just confused, it was or is a phase, and the even more harsh to here from both communities; it’s not real and all for attention. That may explain why, according to one recent study, most bisexual people say their friends and family don’t know their sexuality.

Coming out as bisexual was a very difficult thing to do and I want to take the time to really talk about and shed light on the whys especially on the fact that we struggle to fit into either community, our identities are questioned often, and how if we are in a hetero or straight appearing relationship it diminishes our identities as bisexuals and/or ostracize us from communities.

I used to be one of those in the most category we talked about earlier in the survey. Until 3 years ago a combination between a new type of therapy and Pride month, allowed me to finally open up about my sexuality, my past, and how much being in the closet was really affecting me. I hadn’t expressed to anyone my sexualtiy not even to my husband who at the time I had been with for a decade. No one knew about my brief relationship with a girl in middle school and high school, my sexual hookups with girls, and the deep feelings of sexual attraction and desire for many of my deep friendships growing up.

People were surprised to say the least, and many didn’t believe me and said or asked quite a handful of hurtful things. I had always been in hetero or straight passing relationships in public and I ended up married in one even. It made it even harder for me since I met my husband so young, and have been together for 13 years now as I write this. Like I said, I hadn’t even discussed it with my husband until he was the first one I came out to right before my cousin and best friend. On top of that, I didn’t come out until I was almost 30 years old, at that point many asked me why it mattered now, including myself.

But, the longer I was in the closet and not public and vocal about my identity; the more I didn’t feel authentic. The more I didn’t feel honest. The more I didn’t feel whole. The more I had actually started to have some guilt in my marriage and resentment as well. And I had reached a point that I needed to figure out why I was so afraid to openly express my sexuality when I was usually so authentic about every other area of my life.

There were three huge reasons I had come up with while in reflection. The first was my hetero or straight appearing relationship really causes a lot of issues with my sexuality. Now, this doesn’t mean my husband isn’t kind and supportive or I was worried of judgement from him. The issue is the image my relationship makes others see and how they perceive me and feel about it me in different communities because of it. From my experience your made to feel, when you are in a hetero or straight relationship you for some reason have to almost just give up and hand over identity as a bisexual. You get questions from the LGBT community and the assumptions made that you are a straight when you are seen with your partner. You get doubted and not believed from the ally or straight community as well and even told, well your married now and to a man so how can you be bisexual anymore? Again, like the whole time it was just confusion and you waiting to make an ultimate choice on your identity and you chose straight.

However, my “gay side” and my “straight side” do not compete. They coexist, regardless of my partner’s gender. This is simply my identity and it doesn’t go away because, of the gender or sexual identity of my life partner. When I really realized this myself it helped me to understand that it shouldn’t matter to myself or anyone else that my relationship appears to others as a hetero or straight relationship. I am and always will be bisexual no matter the gender or identity of the person I am married too.

The second reason it was so hard for me to come out as bisexual was the grey area I talked about in the beginning that made me feel really ostracized in either community. Listening to the way others would talk about those who were bisexual both in the hetero or straight community and in the LGBT community didn’t make it seem like a welcoming and opening space for me to be out in. To be honest I still struggle with this today. In general because of being bisexual and the having to always feel like you are defending your identity, what it means in both communities and defending yourself to be included in the safe spaces. To be questioned about the validity of it, was it phase, were you just confused, and even at times being made to feel like it’s asking for attention. AND this is coming from all sides and both communities which makes it seem like being lonely in the closet may be better than having to defend yourself from all fronts at times.

The third reason was the guilt and resentment that I had started to build up in my marriage. Most of this was my fault. My husband had never given me any reason to believe that I couldn’t be open and honest with him. For me, I just wasn’t ready to come out to anyone at all about it and that had included him for a really long time. I would make comments about my preferences in women and how I found some attractive throughout the years but, I never told him directly about my identity. Eventually I started to feel guilty for not allowing him the chance to be a safe space and also for not being fully honest with him and all parts of who I was. When the guilt got really heavy I even at times felt like I had tricked him into marrying someone he didn’t fully know and that felt wrong and unfair. Which made me had to decide what felt worse the guilt about hiding it from him or the anxiety of coming out to him?

The fourth and final reason it was hard for me to come out as bisexual was I experience straight-passing privilege because of the image my relationship portrays to others. This means that most people assume I am a straight woman in a heterosexual relationship. Which does allow me to at times not have to deal with some challenges and obstacles of those assumptions if I don’t want to. Which led to me feeling guilty and like I almost hadn’t earned the right to be in the LGBT community and in queer spaces especially since I had been in the closet for such a long time.

I eventually realized that guilt is a feeling that you invoke on yourself not others so it was time for me to deal with that on my own while remembering that it was something I needed to be aware. Because, when you let that guilt and straight-passing privilege take over it can lead to the erasing of your bisexuality whether you do it to yourself like I did by not allowing myself out the closet for so long or by others making assumptions about your identity no longer existing. I do my best to also remember it’s normal to not always feel confident in my identity. It’s okay to sometimes feel discomfort, after all sexuality is a spectrum that changes as we evolve with it.

To this day I still experience being questioned, I still have to be vocal in public spaces and openly identify myself to feel like I am not allowing straight-passing privilege to erase my bisexuality, and at times I have to still struggle with feelings of guilt when in queer safe spaces and especially during pride month it gets a spotlight shown on it. I do my best to hold onto my bisexuality though and not allow it to be erased because of my hetero or straight passing relationship. Some of the ways I do that is by trying to be vocal and open about my identity, until recently I had a flag in the front window of my home ( it will be replaced), I talk about my identity often with others, and I bring awareness to my relationship and others on my social media when I can. I attend pride events and try to be in queer safe spaces and communities and find ways to bring my bisexuality into my life through shows I watch, conversations with my husband, and into my sex life without cheating.

What I ask of you if you took the time to read about my experience this pride month is if you are bisexual and in closest I hope this helped you feel safer, and seen. I hope it let you know you are not alone and there actually is a much bigger community of others out there for you to connect with. Especially if you are in a hetero or straight appearing relationship. Since, I came out of the closet I have had more than a handful of other women confide in me they identify the same way and I guard some of their doors still. Most importantly remember being bisexual doesn’t mean you shouldn’t find safety and belong in queer safe spaces.

If you are not bisexual I ask that you remember being bisexual isn’t a phase, or confusion for someone you love if that is how they identify. Even if they end up choosing a life partner that has them appear to be in a hetero or straight appearing relationship. It doesn’t suddenly make them no longer bisexual. Please don’t try and erase that part of their identity from who they are. This pride month if they are out of the closet and vocal about it don’t forget about them. Don’t allow them to be overlooked especially if they are in a hetero or straight appearing relationship. Their existence isn’t any less valid in the LGBT community this pride month. Remind them that their relationship doesn’t make them any less valid in the LGBT community and it shouldn’t make them feel that way either or like they have to hide in the closet if they still are.

Lunar Magic; A Guide To Harness The Silvery, Illuminating Rays Of The Moon

The silvery rays and ever changing moon has captivated us since the dawn of time. We see this throughout antiquity with symbols, art, and countless myths and legends about the moon across the Earth. To this day it is still a central part to religious and spiritual beliefs and practices. It is a cornerstone to many pagans and witches worship, magic, and witchcraft as well. The powers of the moon are vast and varied across cultures and the earth. They range from being used for healing, love, prosperity, protection, fertility, death, rebirth, and more. In some cultures like in India a full moon for example it is thought to even be the time that ghosts come out to interact with the living. In antiquity some cultures even believed it to cause insanity. In modern times we have come to understand the moon to energetically affect us, the oceans, and the tides. As well as its ability to influence our emotions, psyche, and subconscious. In this guide let the light of this celestial body be illuminated to you. Like how to use its magic, the different phases, and its meanings throughout history.

What Is The Moon?

From lighting up our skies to maintaining a geological record of our solar system’s history, the moon is the Earth’s closest celestial neighbor. Earth’s Moon is the brightest and largest object in our night sky. The Moon makes Earth a more livable planet by moderating Earth’s tilting axis, leading to a relatively stable climate. It also causes tides, creating a rhythm that has guided humans for thousands of years. The origins of the moon are up for debate depending on who ask and where you look in history. If you ask NASA the Moon was likely formed after a Mars-sized body collided with Earth several billion years ago. But, again that is up for debate depending on what you believe and which myths and legends you read about the origins of the moon.

The Meanings Of The Moon In History

Over the centuries, the moon has been interpreted as a deity, and a planet, as well as a timekeeper and calendar. Different cultures have their own historical, cultural and religious relationships to the moon, so depending on where the artwork is presented, its meaning and interpretation will shift. For example in many if not most cultures, regions, and practices the moon will be deeply tied to the feminine energy, feminine aspects and even seen as a goddess. But keep in mind, though this is a very common thing to find among cultures it is not universal. There are cultures and belief systems who view the moon as masculine energy and as a God; like in the Japanese belief system of Shintoism and Ancient Sumer with the moon God Sin.

The moon had sway over just about every facet of our history, including scientific discovery, religion, climate, physiology, psychology and evolution. Its cycles of departure and return helped early humans grasp concepts such as “becoming, birth, vanishing, death, resurrection, renewal, and eternity.” They allowed us to expand our consciousness and our magic. Along with having us look to understand our place on this earth and in the cosmos.

The moon as a time keeper

The Moon has been Earth’s companion since the birth of the Solar System, 4.6 billion years ago. Ancient humans were captivated by the Moon’s cycles as it changed position, shape and vanished from the sky for part of its 28-day cycle. Stone age peoples recorded the phases of the Moon in various ways, as the observation of the Moon gave them a way to count the passage of days and predict the arrival of the seasons. Activities key to the development of human civilization like agriculture and hunting absolutely depended on reliable timekeeping, so all human societies developed ways to determine the length of the year.

Deities Of The Moon

With the moon and other celestial bodies there are certain themes, magic, and energies we have the ability to connect to them with, including deities. Everyone works with and views deity energy a little differently. Whether you view them as archetypes of the human consciousness, representations of the source energy, or as being entities on their own, there are certain deities that help you connect to and honor the illuminating and potent energy of the Moon in your life and magical practices. You can do this by invoking them through prayer, sigils, offerings and correspondences while doing lunar magic and ritual work. You can honor these deities during any of their sacred holidays and festivals or during potent lunar moon phases like the new or full moon phases as well. Let’s take a look at some of them below.

Artemis

Artemis, the Greek goddess of hunting and nature, was born as the daughter of Zeus and Leto. Artemis, was the twin sister of Apollo. Their mother, Leto, faced numerous struggles during her pregnancy, as she was relentlessly pursued by the jealous Hera. Artemis helped her mother give birth to her brother Apollo, earning her reputation as the goddess of childbirth. Artemis would establish herself as the revered goddess of hunting, protector of young girls, and a powerful force in Greek mythology. Associated with various spheres of influence, she protected young girls and women and favored the Trojans in the ancient Greek literature. Depictions of Artemis show her with sacred symbols like the bow and arrow, a quiver, and her sacred animal, the deer. Stories of her wrath, such as the myth of Artemis and Actaeon, highlight her powerful vengeance.

Artemis is widely recognized as the virgin goddess in Greek mythology, embodying chastity and purity. Revered for her unwavering dedication to remaining unmarried and abstaining from romantic relationships, she symbolizes the ideal of a self-sufficient and independent woman. As the goddess of the hunt and nature, Artemis was revered as a role model for young girls and women. Her commitment to virginity set her apart from other deities and granted her a unique status within the Greek pantheon. Worship of Artemis played a significant role in ancient Greek society with numerous temples and rituals dedicated to her.

Changxi Goddess

The Changxi Goddess, a prominent figure in Chinese mythology, holds the title of the lunar deity. Often confused with Chang’e, she is Di Jun’s second wife and the mother of the twelve lunar months, including Earth’s Moon. Legends tell of her stealing and devouring a herb of immortality from her husband, Hou Yi, also known as the Excellent Archer. As a result, she found protection under the moon, becoming the lunar goddess we know today. The Changxi Goddess, a prominent figure in Chinese mythology, holds the title of the lunar deity. Often confused with Chang’e, she is Di Jun’s second wife and the mother of the twelve lunar months, including Earth’s Moon. According to ancient Chinese mythology, Di Jun and Changxi are blessed with twelve children, each representing a lunar month. These lunar months are intricately linked to the Earth’s Moon and its phases, symbolizing the ever-changing nature of time and cycles. The legend between her and Hou Yi explain the reason for the separation of the moon and sun as well in Chinese mythology.

Selene

Selene the Greek goddess of the moon is a prominent figure in Greek mythology. As the daughter of the Titans Hyperion and Theia, she is revered during the phases of the Full Moon and New Moon. Depicted riding a horse or driving a chariot pulled by white horses, Selene is known for her associations with Zeus, Pan, and the mortal Endymion. Her influence can be seen in various artistic representations, including the famous sculpture in the Parthenon. Additionally, Selene’s worship involves rituals and festivals tied to the moon, emphasizing her connection to magic and sorcery. Her role as the personification of the moon is fascinating, encompassing various intriguing stories and connections with other gods and mortals.

Sin

Sin also called Nanna (or Suen) was a Sumerian/ Mesopotamian god who played a longstanding role in the Mesopotamian religion and mythology. He was the god of the moon, the son of the sky god Enlil and the grain goddess Ninlil.
Sin’s origin myth is a story of his father’s passion and his mother’s sacrificial love. The virgin Ninlil bathes in the sacred river, where she is seen by the “bright eye” of Enlil, who falls in love with her and seduces (or rapes) her. The assembly of the gods then banishes Enlil to the underworld for this transgression. Ninlil, knowing she is pregnant with the “bright seed of Sîn,” follows Enlil to the world of the dead. Once the moon god is born in the underworld, three additional deities are born to his parents, allowing Sin to take his place in the skies to light up the night. The Moon, Women, And Their Menstrual Cycles

Since, the moon is also commonly associated with the feminine energy of the universe. This means that the moon is often thought to be connected to women and femininity which includes having an effect on their menstrual cycle. For thousands of years, women have noticed their moon cycles (menstruation – the syllable men meaning moon/month) syncing up with the moon’s phases. This is lunar magic at its core. Just as the moon waxes and wanes, so too does the womb. There are even deeper connections to this including linking what moon phase a women menstruates on and their current life phase. Lunar AKA Moon Magic

The moon has been linked to various magical practices throughout history and cultures. One of these is called lunar magic or moon magic. Lunar magic involves using the phases of the moon to cast spells. Each phase of the moon like we will talk about below has it’s own unique energy and properties and using those energies and properties in our spells and rituals is what lunar magic is.

Phases Of The Moon

Some nights, at the time of the Full Moon, we admire its beauty and grandeur. Other nights, when it starts to fade, it becomes thin and inconspicuous, so different from the peak of its fullness and magical glory. The moon seems to grow and then fade over the period of one lunar cycle (one month). This growing, reaching its full potential, and then diminishing is referred to as moon phases. As mentioned before, lunar phases can be used to enhance magical workings by invoking various energies that align with different moon cycles. The ever-changing lunar cycles remind us of the cyclical nature of life itself. The Moon constantly passes through this cycle of growth and decline, and the phases of the Moon are different parts of this never-ending cycle.

Understanding each stage of the Moon cycle can help guide us on our journey of personal growth and development. They can help guide us on what magical spells and workings will aid us the most in our lives as well at the right time.

New Moon: when the moon begins its next cycle; magic includes new beginnings, new opportunities, wiping the slate clean and starting over “anew”, new friendships, new love, cleansing, fertility, any spell work that has to do with careers and businesses as well. I look at this phase as the most potent time to plant seeds of intentions and manifestation that you wish you bloom and grow. Waxing Moon: when the moon grows in size before reaching its fullest; magic involves “growing” things in your life including success, relationships, abundance, healing, love, beauty, money, etc.
Full Moon: to some one of the most powerful moon phases; moon is full size; magic includes love, healing, protection, intuition, dreams, connecting with the gods and ancestors, reaching your “fullest” potential, water magic, and divination. I look at this phase as the most potent time to release things unwanted things and obstacles. It is the time to anchor down into your goals, intentions and manifestations. Waning Moon: when the moon seems to fade or grow smaller; this lunar magic includes getting rid of or diminishing things like bad habits, illness, addiction, toxic relationships, and also includes releasing, banishing, and cleansing rituals
Dark Moon: The Dark Moon is the few days before a New Moon when the moon seems to be completely gone. I’ve found the dark moon is perfect for shadow work and to recall past lives. Lunar Eclipses

So, what about a lunar eclipse? I want to take a moment to talk about them because if you go online especially on social media you will see countless warnings telling you not do any workings during a lunar eclipse including making moon water. They say its a time of bad omens, and a time that is too chaotic to harness and work with. I simply don’t agree with this. This may be because I am a grey witch. I just don’t see why we can’t work with a moon phase that is chaotic. The universe and all that exists within it sprouted from chaos or nothingness. This is common theme in belief systems, cultures, and stories across the Earth and time like in Mesopotamia with the goddess Tiamat. So, wouldn’t working with chaos like the lunar eclipse be a very primal and potent things for us humans to do? I think so. But, it will be up to you and what you decide for your own practices and beliefs.

Triple Goddess

Wiccans, and other pagans particularly neopagans associate the Triple Goddess with the moon’s phases: the maiden (waxing moon), the mother (full moon), and the crone (waning moon). We all go through these phases in our lives (both men and women) corresponding to our physical bodies: youth, adult years, and our elder years. And corresponding with our spiritual bodies: when we begin our journey, the middle of our journey and the end. The Moon And Duality

Since, I am a grey witch every single energy I work with I look for the duality in that energy and how I can connect to it. This includes the moon. The moon itself is all about duality as it is celestial body that is all about transformation, transition, and rebirth. With those energies we are pushed into a liminal space that forces us to look at the things, people, and places that have been obstacles holding us back or to be looking at the hope and abundance of all we could possibly bring into our life. This can be a thing of beauty and hope as well as a thing of pain and darkness which forces us into duality.

In astrology, the moon is a powerful planet that can influence a person’s emotions, personality, and experiences based on its position in their birth chart. The moon’s influence can be wanted or unwanted, depending on its position, aspects, and other elements. The Moon represents the personal self, the feelings and the unconscious. It is a reflection of the true self, represented by the Sun. The Moon also stands for security and instinctual or habitual patterns, as well as the ability to relate to others, and to be nurturing to others. The Moon represents the feminine and nurturing part of oneself in astrology as well. The Moon represents our deepest personal needs, our basic habits and reactions, and our unconscious. Where the Sun acts, the Moon reacts.

How To Connect To And Work With the Moon

When working with the moon there are certain spells and rituals that will help connect you to this celestial body in the most effective way. Remember these are just some of the many ideas, follow your intuition and the energy of the phase the is currently in. Also keep in mind this list can be expanded so much further when you take into account the current zodiac sign the moon is in. To get more ideas based on that you can look through my blog for many different posts. This list is just some of the basic ways you can start doing lunar magic and working with the moon.

Moon Gazing

Many people don’t know where to start with lunar magic and working with the moon. I often hear they are overwhelmed by the different phases and their energies. My first suggestion is to go outside at night and identify the moon’s phase. Do this time and time again until you instinctively know what phase the moon is in. If you can’t see the moon or can’t get outside, you can also use a moon phase app on your phone (most are free to download). Or simply google it. One of my favorite things still this day to do with the moon is to sit in the silence under its rays and mindfully gaze at it. It has been said throughout cultures and history doing this practice called moon gazing connects you to the moon itself and allows you to take in the magical energies. This would be the first place I would start to help you understand how the energy of the moon affects you as if shifts through its cycle. Doing this will help your body and yourself become much more aware of how the moon affects you in each phase and how to harness its magic.

Make Moon Water

Another great way to connect to the moon is by collecting moon water! This practice is really honestly a staple when it comes to working with them moon. It’s fairly easy to do, and doesn’t require many tools in all reality all you needs is vessel preferably glass to hold water in. It’s a potent and powerful tool to add to your practice and your altar for many different purposes like spells, rituals, and offerings.

So, what is it? Moon water is simply water that has been exposed to the moonlight and charged with a Magical intention. The water will now embody the properties and energy of that moon phase and the astrological sign it was in so we can use it whenever we need it in our craft. This charged water becomes a tangible connection for you to have to the moon! You can use it on your altar, in spell workings, to connect to the archetype energy of the moon, and as an offering to a deity/ element/ or the moon itself. Attend a Moon Ceremony on the new and/or full moon

Another way you can connect with and work with the moon is by attending ceremonies, rituals, or meditations to honor the new and full moon. Though working with all the phases of the moon is ideal sometimes life can overwhelming or we simply don’t have the time to connect to each lunar phase that month. It’s alright to pick and chose which phases you can work with that lunar cycle and I would recommend for potency, meaning, and simplicity to work with the new and full moon. To make those a priority to observe. This should be really easy for you to do thankfully! If you go on google or Facebook you will find countless events even online for each new moon and full moon every month that you can attend live or watch replays of later. Plus I not only write about them I also host one you can attend too! You can always come and join me with Divination Academy where I host them for free here! This is one of the first things I recommend to my students on a magical path. Make it a point for one calendar year to observe and connect to every new and full moon and watch your life, emotions, and magic grow like never before.

Perform Simple Spells

Next, start with a simple moon ritual or spell. For example you could perform a cleansing bath on the waning or new moon. Add a few herbs to the water that correspond to the moon or crystals and use it to connect to the moon, your emotions, and for cleansing. On the Full Moon, perform a simple candle spell for protection or abundance. Lunar magic really isn’t that hard once you start to align with the phases of the moon and the energy of that phase. So, whenever you need to perform a spell, stop and take time to think about the moon phase it corresponds with and than cast your spell during that phase. It not only leads to more potent and wanted results but, also helps align you with the energy and ever changing phases of the moon.

Keep a moon journal

While your learning a new magic and even after as you continue to work with it. It always is a good idea to keep a journal of yours studies and experiences while working with that type of magic. Write about how each moon phase makes you feel and how it affects the people around you. Record any moon rituals or spells you do and the outcomes. Also, take note of any unusual dreams during certain moon phases or if you notice any increased paranormal activity. Another way you can journal with the moon phases is each new moon make sure to journal and reflect about the things you want manifested and bring into your life. While on the full moon you use that phase to journal about the things you need to release and reflect from your past or now to allow yourself to bring the things you want into your life.

I am not my mental illnesses, they don’t define who I am AND because, I live with them they do shape my reality

May is mental health awareness month. For many this points a spotlight on mental health and mental illnesses when they may not always think about it and they seek to learn more. While for others it may be a month to focus on improving mental health, healing, and using skills to create a life worth living while living with mental illnesses. Even yet, this month could be the push someone needed to seek help, treatment, or to go and get a diagnosis for the first time.

For myself it becomes a month focused on reflecting on how balanced I currently am, to check in with how well I am using mental health skills and techniques to maintain a healthy mental state, and to really look at my own personal relationship with my mental health and mental illnesses. While reflecting and really looking at my mental health and my relationship currently with mental illnesses this month was a little different for me than in past years because, I wanted to write about it. I have written and rewritten this post so many times this month because during my reflection process my answer would change. I would write an open letter about the illnesses I live with ( OCD, PTSD, Bipolar, BPD, and a few more) and it just wouldn’t feel whole. I would pick my favorite DBT skills to talk about this month and it wouldn’t feel like enough for bringing awareness.

So, I kept waiting, reflecting and rewriting and after a interpersonal conflict which put me in a really unbalanced and depressed state of mind. Where some things were said that were hurtful had pushed me to think about myself, my reactions, and if my view on reality were causing imbalance and unhappiness in my life. Which lead me to really think about the topic I landed on for this blogpost. The fact that I am not my mental illnesses, they don’t define who I am AND because I live with them they do shape my reality and how I experience the world.

I often forget that my mental illnesses don’t define me. I work so hard to try to raise awareness of these illnesses and how they affect your brain chemistry and makeup. I focus so much on wanting people to understand that these illnesses are not just in your head, they are real and they affect your brain chemistry and makeup. That at times I feel I almost let them become my whole identity unintentionally.

I also forget this when I start to struggle. I start to sink into the unwanted parts of my mental illnesses and I begin to believe that’s who I am and all the negative stigmas that are attached to them. When I feel overwhelmed by my symptoms, I try to remind myself that my illnesses are not me. I have to remind myself that my mental illnesses don’t disqualify me from being a mother, and that they can’t stop me from doing anything. I than remind others of the same thing once I am back to believing it, because sadly not everyone in my life agrees with this. Some believe that just having a mental illness means I shouldn’t even be mother.

While all the above is true and I work really hard to do my best to remember that and to remind others. The other half of this is recognizing that although they do not define me and who I am, my mental illnesses do shape my reality, how I experience the world, and how I interact with others. Some of the mental illnesses I have can never be “cured” and some I can’t be medicated for either. Though I can develop a healthy lifestyle based on therapeutic skills to help live a much more happy, balanced and stable life with them. They will always be apart of my life and my reality.

So, what does that mean and why does it matter? For myself I live with bipolar disorder and BPD which can cause some ping ponging on my feelings, thoughts, reactions, and even at times my beliefs. On top of that you through the extreme anxiety that comes with OCD and triggers from PTSD. This undoubtedly means my perception of reality will be affected by these things in ways others may not have to experience. On top of that it will affect how I interact with others and even with myself. This means I can’t allow myself to believe so deeply that I am not defined by my mental illnesses that I completely forget how they affect my perception and my place in this world. That I unintentionally put myself into denial of their existence and allow myself to not maintain healthy mental health and let my mental illnesses affect myself and my life in unwanted ways. This also means that when I interact with others I have to remember they may not be experiencing reality from my perception. And I ask others to do the same with me.

Whether you chose to read this because you live your life with mental illnesses or you have those in your life you love who do or simply to gain some insight and awareness. The main things I really want you to take from are the following. Living with a mental illness doesn’t define you. It doesn’t dictate who you are, who you can become or what you can accomplish. It may look a little different or you have to go a different path to get there but, they don’t dictate that at all. They don’t disqualify you from any part of a happy, thriving life you dream of. All you have to do is find the skills THAT HELP YOU achieve that. AND; still remember that you do live with them. They will affect your day to day life, how you view reality through perception and how you interact with and perceive others. Don’t allow yourself to forget that and neglect your mental health hygiene and skills and lead to unwanted effects resonating throughout the areas of your life.

Working With The Adventurous, Expansive, Idealistic, And Freeing, Sagittarius Full Moon

We will be entering a new lunar phase this week; the full moon. The Full Flower Moon in Sagittarius graces the skies amidst the vibrant blossoms of spring and right before the heat and activity of summer. This month in May we find the full moon in the adventurous, expansive, visionary, idealistic and freeing sign of Sagittarius. Unlike the New Moon, which is about starting something new, the Full Moon is about reflecting on what we planted almost six months ago now, and how it’s coming to fruition. It urges us to consider what’s next. You’re being pushed to pursue a LEAP of faith. Take a moment to get in touch with your true, deepest desires, and give yourself permission to dream bigger than you ever have. It’s a great time to reassess the year and see if your actions still align with your intentions.

First, What is the Full Moon

Over the centuries, the Moon has played a significant role in different cultures and traditions. The full moon simply put is when the moon is completely illuminated in the sky and it has reached it’s peak in this lunar cycle in the sky. When the moon is completely illuminated it’s time for all to reach full expression. The full moon is the most powerful and potent time of the entire lunar cycle.

A full moon occurs when the transit (moving) Sun and Moon are in the exact opposite positions in the Zodiac (called an opposition). The full moon greatly affects humans and it’s no wonder it does because, there’s a scientific reason for this – we are made up of 60% or more of water. Full Moons are the peak point of the lunar cycle: at this time of the month, the light of the Sun is fully illuminating the Moon, and the luminaries are exactly opposing one another from our perspective on Earth. This potent alignment offers us opportunities to gain more awareness about what is moving in our inner and emotional world, and information previously uncertain or hidden could be revealed at this time.

With the moon being fully illuminated it creates this portal to some of the most potent energy to connect to for us to manifest our desires and dream life. This portal creates a connection to our peak creative energy and the deep seated creative passions we all have within us. This creative energy and power is the energy we need to actually do and create the things and lifestyle we need to manifest what we desire. With the new moon phase being about planting the seeds of what you want to manifest, the full moon is about actually doing the work and moving the energy to make your manifesting happen. The full moon allows you to bridge the connection between these energies and themes and bring them into your life while reminding you how important it is to have them in your life not only when the moon is illuminated in the sky for you to see.

So, Who Is Sagittarius?

Sagittarius, represented by the Archer, is known for its optimistic, enthusiastic, and adventurous spirit. Sagittarius is represented by the symbol of the archer, who aims far, and the mythological creature, centaur, who is half man and half horse. It bridges the gap between the Earth and Heaven because the centaur is the learned healer whose higher intelligence forms a bridge between Earth and Heaven. Sagittarius is a mutable fire sign ruled by Jupiter, the planet of expansion and abundance, Sagittarius brings the energy of growth, exploration, and optimism into everything it touches.

As the mutable (adaptable) Fire sign of the Zodiac, Sagittarius rules over communication, action, and passion. It can be a good time to pick back up an old idea, an old big plan, or to reconnect with the big picture in ways we have before. This can be a good time to redo and revise.

Sagittarius was the one who would leave the zodiac, and wander far to obtain new wisdom, and perspective to bring back and teach others what they learned. They are driven by a constant search for knowledge, wisdom, and the meaning of life.They are the natural students and teachers of life. Purpose is a big theme for Sagittarius. It is not only about obtaining knowledge, it is about understanding the purpose of what life even means. Because of this, during the Full Moon, we are being called to release any limiting beliefs in regards to our purpose in life. Possibly even redefine what purpose means for us.

Things To Look Out For With Sagittarius

Since Sagittarius is the sign that rules our beliefs and we can get really passionate about that. This can lead to fights if we don’t keep an open mind with others in our lives. So, we need to make sure we’re listening properly. If we are, this can improve communications and we can feel more understood. With sagittarius also being the happy sign of the zodiac we need to be careful that we don’t get too lost in feeling happy that we choose to not face reality and end up making situations worse than they need to be.

Sagittarius And Its Connection To Chiron

In astrology, the Sagittarius sign is represented by a centaur named Chiron holding a bow and arrow. Because of this, It is also sometimes called the archer sign.

First, what is a Centaur? Centaur’s were creatures in Greek Mythology that had the upper body of a human man and the lower body, including all four hooves, of a horse. Many Centaurs were wild and boisterous creatures known to allow their animal nature to have control. The Centaur is a great representation for Sagittarius because of it’s balance between the passionate, wild animal nature and the soul searching, purpose driven nature of humans. The most famous Centaur Chiron, from later Greek Mythology, was known to be a wise man and a healer. In Greek Mythology, it was Chiron who taught humanity the constellations. That’s huge. The Flower Moon

The May full moon is also called the Flower Moon for pretty obvious reasons. As we make our way towards summer, the trees and bushes seem to overflow with blooms. The name comes from the Algonquin tribes of what is now the northeastern United States, who called it the Flower Moon because of the abundant flowers that bloom at this time of year. While all full moons can be a time of great potential and magic, witches and spiritual teachers around the world often cite the Full Flower Moon as one of the most powerful. As Mother Earth is now in full spring bloom, this is a potent time for manifestation, intention setting, and new possibilities.

Sagittarius And Duality

Since, I am a grey witch every single energy I work with I look for the duality in that energy and how I can connect to it. This includes the full moon and the energy of the zodiac sign it currently is in. First, the full moon itself is all about duality as it is another time of transformation, transition, and rebirth. One fun way to combine the energy of the full moon and the element of fire under this Sagittarius full moon is by doing a paper burning ritual.

Fire gazing is a powerful ritual that will connect you to the energy of Sagittarius with clarity and intention. It can be used as a form of meditation, contemplation, manifestation, or simply to clear the mind. Fire gazing involves looking into the flames of a fire and allowing yourself to connect with your inner wisdom. It can help you gain clarity on what you want to manifest in the coming months, and look at the successes you have to celebrate from past months. First get yourself into sacred container and set up whatever form of a flame you are using whether it be a candle, fireplace, or bonfire. While setting up your source of fire and flame focus on the intention and goal you have for this fire gazing session.

Next, you should focus your attention on the natural light of the fire and allow yourself to enter into an altered state of consciousness as you gaze into the flames while engaging in rhythmic breathing techniques like boxed breathing for example.

Once you feel your attention is focused on the light of the flames. Then, you can relax yourself and stare into the flames. Allow your intuition and mind’s eye to find images and omens, and allow yourself to be open to the messages that come through.

You can also energetically toss your worries from the past month into the flame, letting them burn away and be released.

This ritual can be used to get yourself into sacred container under the silvery illuminating rays of the moon. Working With The Fertile, Abundant, Compassionate, Creative, And Lustful Magic Of May

Every single month has it’s own energy, and frequencies we can connect to that are unique. When we connect to the month’s energy and frequencies we can find ourselves living a much more aligned, and magical life. We have the ability to amplify our magical workings, intentions, and manifesting. Let’s talk about how to do that with the month of May.

May is a vibrant, energetic, creative, lustful, fertile, and compassionate month marked by the celebration of Beltane and the height of spring’s fertility. It’s a time to honor the Earth’s abundance, to embrace the energy of growth and renewal, and connect with the magic of the natural world all around us in the passionate cosmic dance of the co-creators. An explosion of vitality floods the Earth this month. And that joy of living is transferred to the spirit in everything all around us like; in the activities of humans, the full hustle and bustle in nature, and even in celebrations this month like Beltane and Mother’s day. Love is around every corner in May; sexual love as well as self-love and motherly love. Use this flaming energy to add motivation to your goals and dreams to bring them into reality.

In the month of May we see some themes from both April and March continued as well like fertility, growth, prosperity, and abundance. This month continues to be a time to focus on positive change, growth and new opportunities. This month is a time to truly focus on aligning ourselves with the natural rhythms of the Earth and the turning of the wheel. History Of The Month Of May

The word “may” comes from the ancient Greek goddess Maia, who was the goddess of growth and mother of Hermes, the messenger of the gods. Her name translates to “mother, nurse, midwife” or “good mother”. Maia is also the Greek goddess of growth and fertility, and is associated with renewal, joy, and magic. The Romans also had a goddess named Maia, who was associated with fertility and spring. The month is also said to be a time for freedom, adventure, and creativity, and to explore new opportunities and spur dreams.

May is the fifth month of the year according to both the Gregorian and the Julian Calendars. May was the third month in the early Roman calendar. People born in the month of May are born under the Sun Sign of either Taurus or Gemini.

Beltane

One of the most well known and important sacred days in May is Beltane. Beltane is a celebration of the earth and nature and marks the start of the traditional planting season. Beltane is the pagan Celtic fire festival dating back to ancient times. In fact, the name Beltane is derived from the name of the Celtic god Belenes, or Bel, and the word tene meaning “fire”. The earliest mention of the holiday was in an Irish medieval text known as Sanas Cormaic, written by Cormac mac Cuilennáin king-bishop of Munster sometime before the year 908. The word Beltane, which in traditional Irish is spelled Bealtaine, means “Fire of Bel” or “Great Fire”.

It occurs officially upon moonrise on April 30th, lasting through the next day, May 1st, in the Northern Hemisphere. In the Southern Hemisphere, the dates are reversed: so it begins October 31st and lasts through November 1st.Although Beltane is Celtic in origin, there are literally hundreds of other fire and fertility festivals celebrated around the world at this time. In England, Beltane is known as May Day. In Germany, it’s Walpurgisnacht (aka the Witches Night). Beltane is the festival that honors the change from winter to summer and the union of the god and goddess. It is a time of fertility, growth, and new beginnings.

Beltane is the time when the Earth is literally buzzing with fertility. Spring is in full swing, flowers are blooming, the birds are building nests for their young, many animals are seeking mates, and farmers are planting their fields in preparation of the abundant Summer months. It is time to celebrate the fertility and prosperity of the world during this warm time of growth, abundance, and transformation. It is time to connect to the duality of the sacred dance between the co-creators; that seed all of life. It is a time when our souls are lit with a burning blaze of passion, creativity, and sexuality to allow us to transform into our true forms this coming season. The 5/5 Portal Of Abundance

Certain dates hold a special significance in the terms of celestial alignment and they create a portal through which we can access heightened energies, spiritual insights, and opportunities for growth. The 5th of May is a really important date as it is the 5th day of the 5th month of the year. This is known as the 5/5 portal. The May 5 Portal, is also known as the 5/5 Gateway or the Beltane Portal, and it occurs annually on May 5th. This date holds significance in various spiritual traditions, including astrology, numerology, and indigenous cultures as a time of heightened spiritual activity and cosmic alignment. It’s often thought that at this time, the veil between the physical and spiritual realms is thinner, putting the collective in a liminal space allowing us to access higher frequencies of energy to receive guidance, and blessings from the divine. Mother’s day is another well known day of celebration that happens during the month of May. Not only is a day to honor mothers of all kinds but, there is a much deeper meaning to mother’s day as well. The deeper meaning of Mother’s Day is to not only honor our mothers for giving us life physically, but also to honor our true Parent, the goddess and source, who gave us life at all levels: physically, intellectually, and spiritually. When we remember our mothers, we should also remember the goddess and source for creating us. Mothers Day is a chance for each of us to consciously reconnect with the principle of the Divine Feminine within ourselves, which is where the true Power Unconditional Love resides, waiting to embrace and nurture us. Celebrate the Divine Feminine this Mothers Day and notice how loved you really are.

During this month a few deities take center stage because they have festivals or sacred days during this month to help you connect with them in a very intimate way. The deities that are going to be the best for you to connect to right now are going to be those who represent spring, fertility, abundance, sex, love the divine co-creators, maternal love, nature, and any deities connected to Beltane. Below we will talk about some of the deities you can work with this month.

Iris

Iris, is the Greek Goddess of the Rainbow and Messenger of the Gods, and she has an important place in Greek mythology. Known for her vivid look and elegant presence, Iris is the divine connection between gods and mortals. But Iris is more than a messenger. She symbolizes the radiance, brilliance, and enchantment of rainbows, a sight that humans have been charmed by for a long time. Iris is different from other goddesses. Other gods sometimes meddle with human affairs out of fun or interest. But Iris is devoted to her mission. She shows loyalty and adherence to duty, never stopping in her mission to keep communication between Olympus and Earth open.

Even though she is most well known as the goddess of rainbows and messenger to the gods; she is also known as a goddess of the sea and sky. In some regions she is depicted as a virgin goddess and was believed by the coastal-dwelling Greeks to replenish the rain clouds with water from the sea. Bel or Belenos

Bel or Belenos is a Celtic fire god who may have been the catalyst for this sabbat thousands of years ago. When we translate Bel’s name, we get “Shining One”. Not only was Bel associated with fire and fertility, he was also a well-loved healing god whose cult stretched all the way from Italy to the British Isles, at its peak. Bel was also a sun god who rode the sun like a chariot across the sky each day, led by his sacred, most powerful totem – horses. There are those who believe Beltane originates in honor of Bel, and those who disagree.

Artemis

Artemis, the Greek goddess of hunting and nature, was born as the daughter of Zeus and Leto. Artemis, was the twin sister of Apollo. Their mother, Leto, faced numerous struggles during her pregnancy, as she was relentlessly pursued by the jealous Hera. Artemis helped her mother give birth to her brother Apollo, earning her reputation as the goddess of childbirth. Artemis would establish herself as the revered goddess of hunting, protector of young girls, and a powerful force in Greek mythology. Associated with various spheres of influence, she protected young girls and women and favored the Trojans in the ancient Greek literature. Depictions of Artemis show her with sacred symbols like the bow and arrow, a quiver, and her sacred animal, the deer. Stories of her wrath, such as the myth of Artemis and Actaeon, highlight her powerful vengeance.

Artemis is widely recognized as the virgin goddess in Greek mythology, embodying chastity and purity. Revered for her unwavering dedication to remaining unmarried and abstaining from romantic relationships, she symbolizes the ideal of a self-sufficient and independent woman. As the goddess of the hunt and nature, Artemis was revered as a role model for young girls and women. Her commitment to virginity set her apart from other deities and granted her a unique status within the Greek pantheon. Worship of Artemis played a significant role in ancient Greek society with numerous temples and rituals dedicated to her.

Cernuous

The horned god of the forest, Cernuous is a powerful deity associated with Beltane. He is often invoked for protection and blessings of abundance. Cernuous is an ancient Celtic god who was known for his power over wild nature. He was often depicted in art as a horned figure with antlers, embodying the balance between life and death. Cernuous can be seen by many as a symbol of power and transition – from death to rebirth. He teaches us the importance of understanding our place in Nature and how to connect with it – learning from nature’s ebbs and flows, respecting its cycles and giving back when possible

Pan

Part man and part goat, Pan was the Greek god who was patron of shepherds and hunters, who watched their flocks. Pan was the Greek god of nature and the untamed wilderness. PAN was the god of the meadows and forests of the mountain wilds. His unseen presence aroused panic in those who traversed his realm. He was even thought to be the cause of the musical sound of the wind through the trees. He was Associated with music, fertility, and spring. In ancient Greek art, he was often depicted as a horned man with the legs of a goat; he was the chief of the satyrs, who were similar in appearance and character to Pan.

Pan, ruled over nature and pasturelands. Pan is essentially the father of the wild things. He is frequently depicted in literature and artworks. Although he is not one of the major gods of Ancient Greece, he is one of most often referenced figures in Greek mythology. Xochiquetzal

The Aztec goddess Xochiquetzal was one of the most important goddesses in the Aztec pantheon. She was associated with most of the aspects relating to women and femininity: she was the deity who presided to fertility and pregnancy, but also to handicrafts traditionally linked to women, such as weaving. Her most important characteristic was surely her strongly accentuated sensuality: she was the only Aztec goddess to be represented as a young woman, all the others being usually portrayed as mature ladies. Because she was represented as a young woman, the Aztec goddess Xochiquetzal was also the goddess of eroticism. According to this fact, she was thought to have had relationships with many among the most important gods of the Aztec religion. The most renowned was surely Tezcatlipoca, the omniscient god of the night sky and one of the creators of the world.

It is known that the Aztec goddess Xochiquetzal, often revered as the goddess of love and fertility, had a twin brother, or alternatively a male counterpart: a god named Xochipilli who was associated with dance, games, and the arts. Xochiquetzal, also recognized as the Mexican goddess of love, was thought to have been born in Tamoanchan, one of the thirteen heavens of the Aztec cosmos, from a couple of hairs on the head of her first husband, Piltzintecuhtli. She would have been the mother of the god of corn, Cinteotl, further cementing her role as a fertility goddess.

Maia

I saved the goddess the month is named after for last; the Greek goddess Maia. Maia is a Greek goddess associated with various aspects of mythology and culture. As one of the Pleiades, she resides in the constellation of the same name. Maia is known as the mother of Hermes, the messenger of the gods. Maia, a prominent figure in Greek mythology, and holds a significant place among the pantheon of gods and goddesses. Her story begins as the daughter of Atlas and Pleione, and she resides in a deep and shadowy cave atop Mount Cyllene in Arcadia. Often depicted as a shy and reclusive deity, Maia captivates with her enigmatic presence. Her connection to the natural world, particularly the earth, is a prominent aspect of her character, leading some texts to identify her as Gaia, the goddess of the Earth. In Greek Mythology her role was as a mother and caretaker, and her symbolic association with the Earth and growth.

First, what is a correspondence? A correspondence is an item or symbol that is meant to connect you to a specific energy thru it’s representation. It is seen also as an item to respect, honor, and venerate that energy as well whether it be a deity, an archetype energy, the zodiac energy the moon is currently or for time of the year like a month, which I will list below for you to use.

We’ve talked a lot about all the different types of energies the month of May has and gives us access to work with. So, how can you specifically connect to those energies? In your every day life you can make sure your affirmations and manifestation work align with the energies of abundance, prosperity, love, desire, passion, maternal love, creativity, and nourishment. You can celebrate and honor any of the sacred days and holidays like Beltane, and work with the season of spring and the soon to be here Summer.

Some Rituals and spell workings during this time that will be really intensified will be based on prosperity, wealth, growth, and fertility. You can do things like create a lucky money bag, a prosperity bowl, or perform some spells using egg magic. May is a time of the year where many witches are able to get back into nature, using this time to physically reconnect with nature through all kinds of nature magic, earthing, grounding, and elemental magic. If you were not able to plant your garden last month this is a perfect time to do so and to perform some seed magic at the same time.

Other rituals and spell workings that would be powerful to perform during the month of May; will be based on passion, lust, sex, and desire. The month of May starts with a fiery and passionate blaze of sex and cocreation with Beltane and that energy is felt throughout the entire month. You see it in nature even as the bees are busy pollinating flowers, the animals are mating, and humans are much more active in nature as well. So, take the time to really allow yourself to access your true desires and passion, this month by doing some sex magick rituals or spells.

With May being about passion that also opens us up to the energy of expansion. You can access this a few different ways; by casting spells based on transformation or by doing shadow work. Another way you can access the energy of expansion is through the expression of creativity. To access this expression you can mindfully make art and give it as an offering to a deity or place it at your altar, you can move you body especially by moving your hips, go on an adventure, and you can cast any spells to enhance and boost your creativity. This month is the perfect month to really let your expression of expansion run free and work on new projects and ideas you really want to bring to life this year.

When we want to use the energy around us to affect our magical practices and rituals we can amplify that by doing things in our every day life to align with the energy as well. You can align with the energy of abundance, lust, sex, passion, compassion, fertility, expansion and creativity with affirmations, mantras, intentions, goal setting, being in nature, and adding the passion of fire to our lives with candles, lit fireplaces, and bonfires.

The month of May is a month full of love starting from the first day of the month with passionate and fiery Beltane, then the maternal love of mothers day and the love of gratitude and loss with memorial day. This month take the time to focus on the energy of love for yourself, and others in all ways and really explore all facets of the energy of love this month. You can do things like making sure you get yourself outside breathing the fresh air and getting in touch with the earth. You can also make sure to nourish yourself and show yourself some self love by taking a self love ritual bath. Lastly, take some time to look at your relationship with your mother, and with the divine mother to determine if you have a mother wound that you may need to work on healing this month.

If you didn’t start working with them last month in April don’t worry; May is also the perfect month and time to start working with the Fae and the Faery realm. You can start doing this by planning and than planting your Faery Garden so your flowers will start blooming in the next month. Some things I recommend to have for your faery garden will be listed below and keep a look out for a blogpost coming to go in depth on adding one of these to your yard and practice.

Duality And The Month Of May

Since, I am a grey witch I look for the duality in every single energy I work with including sacred times like a month of the year like May. May is burning with duality, in the sense of looking at the divine masculine and feminine. These are two forces that coexist and intermingle in the cosmos and we are made of both of these energies no matter the gender we identify with or are physically born into it. May starts off with Beltane which is the sacred day that represents these two forces. It allows us to look into the flames of our souls and connect these two forces existing within us. In my opinion it is the day of the year we can connect to the duality of them the most when we experience the intense heat of the flames when they come to together in union. That cosmic unions energy is present during the entire month allowing us to access such dualistic energies like sex, lust, passion, desire, creativity, and expansion.
