With the Full Moon in Leo, the bold and fiery energy of this fixed fire sign takes center stage. Leo is all about creative self-expression, leadership, and generosity. Come join me in this blog post on a frozen winter walk under the fiery full moon light as Leo roars into the skies with me.

First, What is the Full Moon

Over the centuries, the Moon has played a significant role in different cultures and traditions. The full moon simply put is when the moon is completely illuminated in the sky and it has reached it’s peak in this lunar cycle in the sky. When the moon is completely illuminated it’s time for all to reach full expression. The full moon is the most powerful and potent time of the entire lunar cycle.

A full moon occurs when the transit (moving) Sun and Moon are in the exact opposite positions in the Zodiac (called an opposition). The full moon greatly affects humans and it’s no wonder it does because, there’s a scientific reason for this – we are made up of 60% or more of water. Full Moons are the peak point of the lunar cycle: at this time of the month, the light of the Sun is fully illuminating the Moon, and the luminaries are exactly opposing one another from our perspective on Earth. This potent alignment offers us opportunities to gain more awareness about what is moving in our inner and emotional world, and information previously uncertain or hidden could be revealed at this time.

With the moon being fully illuminated it creates this portal to some of the most potent energy to connect to for us to manifest our desires and dream life. This portal creates a connection to our peak creative energy and the deep seated creative passions we all have within us. This creative energy and power is the energy we need to actually do and create the things and lifestyle we need to manifest what we desire. With the new moon phase being about planting the seeds of what you want to manifest, the full moon is about actually doing the work and moving the energy to make your manifesting happen. The full moon allows you to bridge the connection between these energies and themes and bring them into your life while reminding you how important it is to have them in your life not only when the moon is illuminated in the sky for you to see.

There are so many ways to work with the full moon, to learn more about the basics of working with the full moon energy check out my blog post here and you can watch my class all about lunar magic. But, remember each full moon will be slightly different and have different practices to add and different ways to do it based on which zodiac sign the full moon is currently in at the time.

The snow moon

During February we can experience some of the biggest snow falls, harshest days, and coldest nights of Winter. This is something I have learned throughout my life living in Minnesota. You never judge a winter until you get through February and see what that month has in store for. So, you can imagine that in ancient times this month was a rough one when resources were running low in storages, there was nothing really to hunt and gather yet, and the weather made it impossible for maybe days to even leave your shelter. This month the snow really determined at times if you and your family would make it through the rest of Winter to the Spring. This is why this month’s full moon gets it name as the snow moon. The amount of snow we get or don’t during this month determines if we have the resilience to survive until Spring. When the world offers nothing but ice, bitter cold, and hunger, you either give up or push forward and learn how to live with less.

The Snow Moon is brutal, relentless, and demanding. It doesn’t care about comfort. It asks, How bad do you want it? It forces you to look into the unyielding white of the snow and ice with a harsh clarity about your reality. Look at what feels frozen and stuck in your life with patience and understanding its resilience, instead of frustration. Remember, some things take time, they must go through cycles of no movement because change cannot be forced. Use this time of stillness to your advantage. Sit with your thoughts and be open to taking in the harsh clarity it offers with acceptance. Strengthen your spirit but, don’t forget how much strength its had to make it through winter this far. Prepare for what’s blossoming next in Spring because, the best plans take shape in quiet, clear, and still moments.

As with most pagan names there will be different ones for each culture so below I listed any of the other names for the cold moon I could find across the Earth. The common themes for these moons are, stillness, introspection, community, resilience, wisdom, rest, clarity, strength, snow, ice, and the coldness of winter.

Who is Leo?

Like, I said before each full moon will be amplified and influenced by the zodiac sign we find it in and this time the full moon is in the sign of Leo. So who is Leo? As the fifth sign of the zodiac ruled by the sun, Leo is the Zodiac sign shining a spotlight on your life with bold roaring, radiant, and confident energy. Leo is all about stepping into the spotlight and owning your own power. Claiming what is yours with courage, bravery, and conviction. Being ruled by the fifth house Leo connects you to what makes you feel good, such as attention, orgasms, or the fulfillment of a creative project. It’s the sign that shines a bright light on your inner talents, your leadership abilities, and the courage you have to playfully create.

Leo constellation

The Leo constellation sits between Cancer the crab to the west and Virgo the maiden to the east. It is located south of the Big Dipper. It is one of the brightest constellations located in the Northern celestial hemisphere. This may be due to the fact that one of the brightest stars in the night sky sits in the heart of this constellation; Regulus. What’s unique about the Leo constellation is it contains many bright stars, many of which were individually identified by the ancients. It’s also one of the few constellations that is visible from pretty much anywhere on Earth, except for Antarctica.

Leo is one of the oldest known and recognized constellations in the sky with many different myths surrounding it. Archaeological evidence suggests that Mesopotamians had a constellation similar to Leo as early as 4000 BC. The Persians knew the constellation as Shir or Ser, Babylonians called it UR.GU.LA (“the great lion”), Syrians knew it as Aryo, and the Turks as Artan. In Sumeria, Leo may have represented the monster Humbaba, who was killed by Gilgamesh. The ancient Egyptians associated Leo with the flooding of the Nile, which occurred during the hottest time of year, when the sun entered Leo. Maybe that’s why the sphinx overlooks the Nile and is half lion?

The most commonly known myth about it’s placement among the stars would have to come from the Greeks. The Greeks associated Leo with the Nemean lion, the beast defeated by Heracles during the first of his twelve labors. Man Hercules is responsible for quite a few constellations being placed in the sky. Anyway, the Nemean lion lived in a cave in Nemea, a town located to the south-west of Corinth. It was terrorizing the local people who could not defeat it because, of it’s impenetrable skin. Heracles could not defeat the lion with arrows, so he trapped it in its cave, grappled with the beast and eventually defeated it by strangling it with his bare hands. He used the lion’s claws to cut off its pelt, and then wore the pelt as a cloak, complete with the lion’s head. From that day forward Hercules wore the pelt as his armor. The cloak both protected Heracles and made him appear even more fearsome. Leo was placed in the sky by Zeus as a reminder of Hercules’ heroism and bravery.

There is another Greek myth about this constellation though, which may be the inspiration for Romeo and Juliet. The poet Ovid’s tale of Pyramus and Thisbe. Both sets of parents of this young couple considered them too young to marry and stopped them seeing each other. However, the pair made arrangements to meet secretly by a mulberry tree with white berries. When Thisbe arrived at the appointed place, a lion sprang out from some bushes and she ran away in fright. Unfortunately, her veil fluttered to the ground as she ran and the lion, bloody from its latest kill, pounced on it. A short time later Pyramus arrived, saw his beloved’s bloody veil and believed that she had been killed. Totally distraught, and unable to face life without her, he threw himself on his sword. As he lay dying, Thisbe returned, took his sword and killed herself. The blood of the tragic pair colored the berries of the mulberry tree red, and so they remain to this day. Some suggest that Zeus placed Thisbe’s veil in the heavens as Coma Berenices.

Leo the sign of radiant self worth and burning confidence

The Full Moon in Leo invites you to embrace your inner power, your immense worth, and ignite your confidence. Leo pushes you to assess your sense of self-worth. To have the courage to ask yourself and answer with honesty; are you truly valuing yourself? This is the time to step fully into your authentic self and understand your true worth. This is the time to ignite your confidence into an inferno blazing so brightly, no one or anything can extinguish your light. This full moon reminds you to express who you truly are without holding back. Let go of any lingering self-doubt or fear of judgment that’s been keeping you small. Let that fiery light inside of you shine as brightly and bold as it was meant to. Leo’s energy encourages you to not only shine bright but, to have the courage to stand in your truth. Making it the perfect moment to own your unique voice and talents. Let that voice out with a resounding roar under the moon’s bright silvery light.

Leo Embrace your inner courage and leadership with conviction

Leo’s energy ignites the fire inside of us that fuels the courage to take charge and be a leader in our lives. Leo’s leadership isn’t just about power; it’s about leading from the heart with courage and conviction. During this Full Moon, align your personal power with a purpose that serves both yourself and others. Lead with passion, kindness, and courage, knowing that true leadership comes from inspiring and uplifting those around you. Use this fiery energy to fuel your goals and have courage in life, but keep your heart at the center of your actions and how you treat others.

Leo the sign of youthful creativity

Leo wants to find the zest in life and creative inspiration. Leo craves to find that unexplainable and mystical reason that makes us want to be alive. That reminds us that no matter where we are and what we’re surrounded by we can find beauty around us. Leo reminds us that we matter and our own individuality deserves its spotlight through our creative expression. That our inner light has the ability to inspire oneself and others too, when we use it to fuel our creative passion. It’s an excellent time to reconnect with our playfulness and creativity, allowing ourselves to follow our passions without being weighed down by ego-driven distractions and self doubt.

Uranus is active

Let’s talk about another energy in play right now; Uranus is active. When Uranus gets together with the Full Moon, it can bring all sorts of surprises and clashing energies, but it’s not called the planet of awakening for nothing. Sometimes, we need these shake-ups so we can see what is no longer stable and relevant to our journey forward. Uranus joining the Full Moon indicates that we may need to shake free from something in our lives. Uranus wants us to think outside the box and stretch the possibilities that we have been looking at. Stay open-minded under this Full Moon, as you never know what new inspirations and brain waves may find you. Uranus shakes us to awaken us, so if you are feeling the winds of change or the ground shaking beneath you, ask yourself- How am I being called to awaken to something bigger?

Chiron the wounded healer is active

Chiron, the asteroid of the wounded healer, is also active under this Full Moon, holding the promise that whatever wounds or challenges we face will eventually lead us to a brighter place. Chiron is one of my favorite energies to work with and I feel he is overlooked so much when he is active. So, who is he? He is the most famous centaur, from later Greek Mythology, and he was known to be a wise man and a healer. In Greek Mythology, it was Chiron who taught humanity the constellations. That’s huge! Chiron is our celestial teacher. On top of that, many well known Greek gods and goddesses looked to him for spiritual advice, most will know him nowadays through the hero Hercules. All of this is why Chiron is the one who reminds us that our wounds and troubles don’t disqualify us from being able to find beauty, purpose, and meaning in our lives. Chiron wants us to acknowledge our wounds as a part of the fabric of our destiny, and something that can make us stronger, wiser, and more compassionate. When Chiron is active some of the most profound healing can happen. To learn more about him check out my guide HERE!

What to be cautious of this Leo full moon

During the Full Moon in Leo, it’s important to avoid impulsivity, getting swept up in drama, or seeking excessive validation from others. Leo energy can be intense, and it can burn bright and hot as hell at times, just like the sun whole rules this sign. It is vital to take the time to balance it and not let it burn too hot, by staying grounded and focused on your authentic self. Be mindful of not letting your pride get the better of you and being overly focused on your own achievements or image. Tapping into Leo’s fire to ignite our self confidence is something our soul needs but, don’t let your fire get so hot and bright that you burn others around you. Avoid the temptation to act out of ego or let others’ opinions steer your path. Be open to constructive criticism and don’t dismiss feedback as personal attacks. Control the fire of Leo burning around you and keep it’s focus on self-love, playfulness, and creative empowerment.

Leo and duality

Since, I am a grey witch every single energy I work with I look for the duality in that energy and how I can connect to it. First, let’s talk about the sign Leo. Leo energy is bright, bold, and full of fiery burst of confidence. Which is something we all need to build ourselves up, honor our talents, and be a courageous leader. But, it can burn really hot at times and let our ego get out of control and our flames of confidence can do unintentional harm to those we love around us. Second, the full moon itself is all about duality as it is another time of transformation, transition, and rebirth. During this time we are pushed into a liminal space that forces us to look at the things, people, and places that have been obstacles or holding us back. This can be a thing of beauty and hope as well as a thing of pain and darkness which forces us into duality.

Aquarius is the 11th sign in the Zodiac and is teeming with energy all about the doing the greater good for humanity through your own uniqueness. This energy is an energy we are really needing right now with everything going on in the world. The Aquarius New Moon, happening alongside the beginning of the Year of the Snake, encourages us to welcome renewal, seek clarity, and embrace the beauty of transformation by shedding our skins.

New moon what it is and why we honor it

Every month, the New Moon carries us over the threshold of a new beginning. So, let’s talk about the new moon in general before we climb the highest mountains to reach our dreams this year with the Capricorn new moon. The new moon is the time to reflect and cleanse your energy. It is a time to set your intentions for what you wish to attract this lunar cycle. But, remember every intention set requires action and energy from your part as well. You can’t just set an intention and miraculously it is yours. You must also put the movement of energy behind it with action steps.

The new moon energy is there to support you in manifesting what you want. The new moon is a time to allow new ideas and energy to flow with you. It is a time to honor new beginnings, and the turning over of a cycle. Think of these intentions as seeds you are planting for this lunar cycle to be ready to harvest by the full moon. Use this time to rest, reflect, and plant what you will grow just as your ancestors across many cultures did while there was little light in the night sky for them to use.

Each New Moon is unique, offering its own magic within each month. To learn more about the foundations of working with the new moon, and how it affects you, read more here in my previous blog post.  And to learn more about the moon in general and lunar magic you can read my comprehensive guide on the topic here. Chinese new year, celebrating the lunar new year

Before we get to know the water bearer Aquarius, we first need to talk about another energy coming into play. Because this new moon is a special one marking the beginning of the lunar year and calendar for many cultures. One of the most popular cultures to celebrate the lunar new year is the Chinese. The Chinese new Year is perhaps the most elaborate, colorful, and important in the culture. Chinese New Year, just like the Western new Year, signifies turning over a new leaf and starting something new. Marking the end of winter and the beginning of the spring season, Chinese New Year celebrates looking to the future for new beginnings with themes of happiness, health family, and good fortune. This Chinese new year marks the arrival of the Wood Snake, a rare and meaningful combination that appears only once every 60 years. This year of the Snake signifies introspection, subtle power, and transformative growth. It embodies a quiet yet potent and sometimes lethal energy capable of illuminating hidden paths and fostering deep emotional and spiritual understanding. Its strategic, resourceful nature makes it an excellent year for long-term growth. To learn more about the the Chinese new year and how to celebrate it today alongside this new moon read my guide here.

So who is Aquarius?

Aquarius is the sign that brings progression, liberation, innovation, and world-mindedness to the zodiac. It’s the sign of broad learning, and the shedding of the past. It’s the sign of new, and sometimes radical, beginnings. Even though it is commonly mistaken for a water sign due to it being represented by the water bear; it is actually attached to the element of air. This is because Aquarius represents the movement of knowledge, wisdom, creativity, and connection to the collective through life. By spreading it on the breath of the spirit ( AIR) to humanity for the greater good. Aquarius allows for the flow of ideas and gifts for humanity with the ability to tune into the universal mind and think outside the box without fear. Aquarius is the futuristic sign of the universal collective due to it’s placement being the 11th sign and looking both at the end of cycle and towards the next one.

Aquarius Constellation

The constellation of Aquarius is depicted as a youthful boy pouring water in the mouth of a fish, the fish that represents Pisces, the zodiac sign that follows Aquarius on the calendar. In Greek mythology, Aquarius represents the youthful shepherd boy Ganymede. He was the son of Tros of Dardania, who is credited as the founder of Troy which made him a Trojan prince. The story goes that Ganymede was herding sheep when Zeus, came down disguised as an eagle. Zeus was very impressed by the beauty of the young prince. Homer said Ganymede was the loveliest and most beautiful born of the race of mortals. Zeus was so infatuated with him and his beauty so he took Ganymede to Mount Olympus. Once they got there, Zeus made Ganymedes the cupbearer for the gods. Where he would refill their drinks so, Zeus could admire he beauty.

What to be cautious of with the Aquarius new moon

During an Aquarius new moon, you might want to be aware of relationship issues and insecurities. This means be careful to not let yourself get detached from others. This can happen easily during an Aquarius new moon since it pushes us to be independent and seek more space on our own. The next thing to be cautious of is to not let your emotions consume you or others drama and extreme emotions either. The Aquarius new moon is a time known to bring up repressed feelings and create some clarity in your life you may have been unaware of until now. Like maybe you are in a toxic relationship. The Aquarius new moon will force you to accept this and have you want to create plans to change that. Just make sure you are not doing so hastily and listening to the wisdom that Aquarius can bring. Lastly, make sure those repressed feelings I talked about just a bit ago, don’t consume you and get out of control. Make sure to do things that soothe your soul, comfort your inner child, and love yourself through acts of self care.

Aquarius New moon and duality

Since, I am a grey witch every single energy I work with I look for the duality in that energy and how I can connect to it. This includes the new moon and the energy of the zodiac sign it currently is in Aquarius. First, the new moon itself is all about duality and illuminating the night sky in both light and shadows. The new moon is all about rebirth, renewal, and the beginning of a new cycle, which puts you in a transitional liminal space, energy, and time. In order for you to be in a space to begin again, to transition, and be reborn you had to just come from an ending and death.

Second, let’s look at the duality of the energy of Aquarius. First off Aquarius is ruled by two planets Uranus and Saturn. Which are quite opposing energies to each other. Uranus is very dreamy, and a future focused energy while Saturn is very disciplined and logic based. This unique mix of duality is why Aquarius energy is what shakes up the collective, brings new inventions, and changes the status quo. This energy is seen as the driving force behind revolutionary ideas and groundbreaking solutions, constantly pushing the boundaries of what is possible.

However, this same unwavering dedication to help the collective with new innovations and ways of thinking, can also be a double-edged sword. Aquarius energy can be very stubborn with a refusal to compromise or consider alternative perspectives. This can sometimes lead to a sense of arrogance, seeming like a know it all, and alienating those who don’t share in our dreams to reshape the collective.

Nurture your emotions, release past wounds, and heal under the Wolf full moon in Cancer

The first full moon of 2025 graces the skies with a watery and emotional current of energy in the sign of the Crab Cancer on January 13th. As the moon finishes her cycle in Cancer we are pushed to dive deep into the depths and waves of our emotions. Cancer is one of the most sensitive and intuitive signs of the zodiac. It’s ruled by the moon so when the moon is in the sign of Cancer at any time, you can be sure you’ll be feeling more emotional than normal especially during a full moon! Cancer rules emotions, and you can work on any emotional issues. You can work on facing those feelings you have let sink to the depths of your psyche, embrace them with compassion, and surrender to the waves and let them go. The Cancer full moon connects us with the feeling of home within ourselves, pushes us to develop a new awareness of our emotional nature, and establish a new relationship with our sensitivity and vulnerability. It represents our foundation in life, our home, our roots, and our family of origin or our motherland. So during this full moon our healing and release work can focus on things like our childhood, generational traumas, and toxic family dynamics as well. The Full Moon in Cancer is a profound opportunity to nurture your emotional landscape, connect with your inner world, and release what no longer serves you. Let’s surrender to the waves of our psyche and our deepest emotions riding on the back of the crab under the glow of the full moon light in this blogpost together.

The wolf moon

During January, as the long harshness of winter has settled in for awhile and food sources to hunt become scarce. The howl of hungry wolves coordinating to take down their prey is something we commonly hear. This is why the full moon of January is known as the wolf moon. This first full moon of the year is an opportunity to slow down and reconnect with what truly matters. The howling wolves have long been a signal of the deep winter season. The Wolf Moon symbolizes both introspection and the power of community. The Full Moon of January connects us to Winter’s strength, the resilience of the wolf pack in harsh condition, and quiet stillness. Wolves, are revered for their wisdom and instinctual nature, and serve as symbols for individuals seeking a deeper connection with their inner selves. Like the pack-oriented wolves, this full moon reminds us of the importance of fostering relationships, improving communication, and achieving harmony in all aspects of life.

As with most pagan names there will be different ones for each culture so below I listed any of the other names for the cold moon I could find across the Earth. The common themes for these moons are, stillness, introspection, community, resilience, wisdom, rest, and the coldness of winter.

  • Mörsugur (Norse) Fat (most likely animal fat) Sucking month
  • Great Spirit Moon or Spirit Moon Ojibwe Native American origins

Who is Cancer?

Like, I said before each full moon will be amplified and influenced by the zodiac sign we find it in and this time the full moon is in the sign of Cancer. So who is Cancer? As the fourth sign Cancer is the very bottom of the Zodiac which makes it associated with our foundations and the core of who we are. As a water sign Cancer is not afraid dive into the depths of emotions and create a nurturing environment to heal the wounds of the past. Cancer represented by the crab is known to be very emotional, nurturing, sensitive, and deeply intuitive.

Cancer constellation

Cancer, the crab, is the dimmest of the 12 zodiac constellations, yet it contains one of the brightest star clusters, the Beehive Cluster. In Greek mythology, the constellation Cancer represents a giant crab named Carcinos that attacked Hercules during one of his 12 labors. The goddess Hera sent the crab to distract Hercules while he fought the Hydra of Lerna, a water serpent. Cancer was able to grab Hercules’s toes with its claws, but Hercules killed it with a kick before it could cause more damage. Hera felt sorry for the crab and rewarded it for its efforts by placing it among the stars as the constellation Cancer.

In Egyptian mythology, the Cancer constellation was associated with the sacred scarab beetle, an emblem of rebirth and immortality. The connection comes from the scarab’s behavior of rolling dung into a ball, which the ancient Egyptians saw as a symbol of the forces that move the sun across the sky, thus connecting the beetle and the constellation with cycles of renewal and eternal life. In Mesopotamian mythology, the Cancer constellation was often depicted as a turtle or tortoise, associated with the summer solstice and sometimes seen as a gateway to the underworld.

In Celtic mythology, the Cancer constellation is most closely associated with the goddess Cerridwen, who is often depicted as the keeper of a cauldron of knowledge, with the stars within Cancer representing the sparks of wisdom emanating from her magical brew; essentially, the constellation is seen as a symbol of the cauldron itself, signifying the potential for enlightenment and deep understanding.

Cancer The sign to nurture your emotions

Cancer is a water sign associated with nurturing, intuition, and empathy. The Moon is at home in Cancer and illuminates our innate desire to focus on our deepest emotional needs. The cancer moon reminds us of the importance of letting our emotions flow, of sitting with our emotions without judging them, without rationalizing them, and without attaching a story to them. The Cancer full moon infuses us with its energy. Making it a powerful time for emotional healing, enhancing psychic abilities, letting go of past wounds, breaking generational patterns, and nurturing relationships. Whether it’s spending time with loved ones, creating a comforting environment, or simply honoring your own feelings, the Full Moon in Cancer highlights the importance of caring for your inner world. Remember, tending to your inner world is just as important as taking care of others during this extra sensitive and emotional full moon.

Cancer The Ruler Of Home And Family

Cancer is the ruler of the home and family, so we can focus more on home and family matters. This can be a time to work on healing wounds from your childhood, releasing past toxic patterns, and redefining the dynamics in your home and relationships. When the full moon is in Cancer this is a time to go back to our roots, who we are, where we came from, and work on releasing anything holding us back emotionally that is connected to our generational lineage, our childhood, and our upbringing. Now is a great time to begin looking into childhood wounds and working to start to healing them. Cancer is also the sign of mothering energy, so during this Moon you’ll feel a stronger urge to nurture and care for not only your own family more deeply, but everyone as if everyone was one of your children.

Cancer the sign of heightened intuition

Cancer is one of the most intuitive signs of the zodiac and has a natural ability to understand other people. This sign has an uncanny ability to sense the moods of others . This sign really is ruled by their intuition and gut feelings, which often proves to be a trusty compass for them. Guiding them to react to others with compassion and empathy giving them the emotional support they need. To connect to the heightened emotional intuition of Cancer this full moon it’s an excellent time for enhancing empathy, and deepening your intuitive abilities by working with your clairs. This allows you to follow that gut instinct about peoples true emotional state, even when it’s not what you see on the surface.

Eris is active

I don’t normally talk about other energies too much but, I have a soft spot for Eris. I feel she gets such a bad rep and she is so overlooked. Especially for her ability to bring empowerment , fight for the under dog, and bring about much needed justice. So, whenever she is active I always try to bring it up and make a note of it. Eris is known to bring destruction and unsettling energy, but this is only to achieve a greater harmony. Eris can see what is old, broken, or is in need of a massive change. She fights against oppression and outdated beliefs, aiming to bring more freedom. though she is known to be a bit erratic when she feels offended. I mean she did play a big hand in the destruction of troy. When she is active she can ignite some inner rage to stand up for yourself, and even get into the fight for justice within our community. To learn more about her energy and myths check out my class on her in the dark goddess devotionals class with DiviNation here.

What to be cautious of this Cancer full moon

When it comes to the Cancer full moon emotions will be really heightened and it’s easy to become moody if you don’t express how you’re feeling. So make sure to express those hidden feelings that you have allowed to sink to the depths. Another thing to be cautious of with the full moon in Cancer is to not allow yourself to build up stronger defense walls. The crab likes to retreat behind the walls of it’s castle to remain safe and protected as the waves of emotions crash upon the shore of your soul. But, don’t let yourself do that by lashing out in passive aggressive ways to those you love and care about. Allow the walls of your castle to soften and come down this lunar cycle instead of allowing them to be reinforced. The last thing to keep in mind is to make sure you don’t allow the nurturing pull of the crab to overcome you. It’s great to care for others and nurture others but, not at your own expense.

Cancer and duality

Since, I am a grey witch every single energy I work with I look for the duality in that energy and how I can connect to it. First, let’s talk about the sign Cancer. The zodiac sign Cancer is known for its duality, which is represented by the crab’s hard shell and soft underbelly. Cancer energy is said to be tough and protective on the outside, but nurturing and emotional on the inside. Like the crab this energy allows us to retreat into our shell and home we carry on our back and be grounded safely in it. But, when we need to we can stand our ground and defend the home we carry on our backs and protect it until the end. Even though we will feel protective, this energy also allows us to feel, be sensitive, and to nurture not only others but, ourselves. We may feel resilient and hard on the outside right now, but on the inside the waves of emotions are crashing all around us and we internally don’t feel strong and protected.

Spell for emotional healing

Cancer is the sign of emotions and nurturing which makes it a very potent time to go within and do some emotional healing. Especially with family wounds, childhood wounds, and scars from the past. Use the spell below during the cancer full moon to bring emotional healing to your life as you surrender to healing waves where the crab resides.

What you will need:

  • a bowl of water
  • pink candle
  • oil
  • Lavender, pink rose petals, rosemary, cinnamon
  • rose quartz

How to perform spell:

Get into sacred container by taking some deep breaths and visualizing pink, loving, and nurturing energy surrounding you. Once you feel set in sacred container take the herbs and grind or mix them together. Once done take your oil and anoint your pink candle with it focusing on loving pink energy open you up to emotional healing. Next, take your candle and roll it in the herbal blend you mixed. Next set it next to your bowl of water asking to connect to the energy of the crab and the depths of your soul. Once your items are set light your candle. Take your rose quartz and hold it in your hands while reciting the spell below staring deep into your bowl of water.

” Water wash over my heart and soul to soothe what needs to mend, healing energy to me please send. Heal the inner scars and wounds you touch and I wish to no longer carry. Heal my heart, and soul so here on out I can be peacful and merry.”

Repeat the spell as many times as you feel you need to. Until you feel your emotional wounds mend, heal, and be released. Leave the candle to burn until it goes out on it’s own. Take your bowl of water and give it to the earth outside thanking it for absorbing your emotional wounds as you do so. Carry your rose quartz with you for as long as you need to bring you love and emotional healing throughout the day.

Howl your emotions out ritual with the wolf moon

This first full moon of the year is the wolf moon remember? So why not connect to the spirt and energy of the wild and wise wolf under the full moon rays of light by communicating like them tonight. One of the simplest ways to release pent-up emotions and energy is to actually howl at the moon just like wolves like to do. Though we now know that wolves howl for different reasons (including to find pack members or to coordinate a hunt), this full moon we can take a cue from these majestic creatures and do our own howling. The howl is the spirit of the wolf unleashed in its divine expression.

So this full moon Do what the wolf does: howl to the Moon. With all the stress and unwanted emotion in life let it go, howl what is in your heart. Let loose what is in the depths of your soul. The Moon is listening. Sitting with the Full Wolf Moon especially in cancer you will know that you are not alone.

How to do this:

When the moon is high out in the sky get some warm clothes on and head outside under the moonlight. Find a place where you can get a clear view of the full moon and be alone. Then stand with your feet apart and put your hands on your hips creating your strongest power pose. Focus on drawing the energy of the moonlight down into you and your pose. Feeling the untamed wild , wisdom, and intuition of the wolf. Allowing the rays of the full moon to hunt down the things that need to be released tonight. Once you feel they have been found. With a deep breath as loud as you can howl as the wolves do and let it all out. Feel the tension, the stress, the past wound, the pain, and the hurt, leave you now with the depth of your howl and be left to the winter wild.

Final thoughts

This full moon being the last one before we enter the year of shedding with the wood snake is your cue to slow down, tune into your intuition, and prepare for the release that naturally flows with the full moon. Whether it’s letting go of emotional baggage or simply acknowledging your inner world, this Full Moon invites you to nurture yourself and those closest to you. The Full Moon in Cancer is all about emotional release and healing especilay with the wolf howling by our side. This full moon encourages you to acknowledge what’s been submerged beneath the surface of the waves and let go of any emotional weight that no longer serves you. By focusing on self-compassion and nurturing your emotional well-being, you can create a solid foundation for personal healing and growth during this full moon in sign of the crab with Cancer.

Shift perspectives, and embrace change with the Gemini cold full moon

The last full moon of 2024 graces the night skies on December 15th. The Moon ending her cycle in the curious and communicative sign of the Twins will stir our minds, increase our desire for variety, and we will thirst for information. Allowing us to shift our perspectives and awaken our urge to connect with others. The Full Moon in Gemini puts the already emotional full Moon in the sign of the mind and expression. Gemini Full Moons are usually times where we express what we’re feeling more easily, and we can say what we mean and mean what we say. We can be authentic and open. This is a time when we can fulfill our desire to feel deeply understood. With the adaptable and curious Gemini energy guiding you this full moon, you’re encouraged to embrace change and let go of what no longer serves you, opening space for fresh ideas and perspectives to emerge. This full moon is a pivotal moment allowing you to explore new perspectives and consider changes that can lead to breakthroughs in your life. This Gemini Full Moon invites us to bridge the gap between mind and heart, thought and feeling. Are your thoughts aligned with emotional truth? Are your feelings guiding you toward your highest good? This lunar moment calls for balance, curiosity, and inspired action

The cold moon

During December the harsh bitter cold of winter sets in dropping to temperatures we can feel chilling us to the bone especially in my part of the world. This is why the full moon of December is known as the cold moon. This final full moon of the year arrives at the beginning of winter’s stillness and illuminates dark winter nights. Pulling us into the stillness of long winter nights for introspection, rest, and fresh starts as we conclude our annual trip around the sun. The Cold Moon’s energy aligns us with Winter’s dormant energy , stillness, and rebirth coming in the new season. Nature may appear dead and lifeless, right now but looks can be deceiving. Deep beneath the surface, it’s brimming with life and endless potential just waiting to show its new form with the suns return to full light come spring. I know when I go out to the woods during the cold winter months there is so much wisdom to be whispered in the woods. Use the Cold Moon as a wintery guide to “freeze and hibernate” as well. Slow down and be fully present in activities that truly bring you joy and pleasure. This is a magical lunar cycle full of transformation and deep internal work. It’s a chance to recharge and reconnect with yourself and your loved ones.

As with most pagan names there will be different ones for each culture so below I listed any of the other names for the cold moon I could find across the Earth. The common themes for these moons are, stillness, introspection, renewal, rebirth, and connecting to the harsh cold of the long winter months ahead.

Who is Gemini?

Like, I said before each full moon will be amplified and influenced by the zodiac sign we find it in and this time the full moon is in the sign of Gemini. So who is Gemini? Gemini is known for being curious, communicative, and intellectual, and is the third sign of the zodiac. An air sign, Gemini is the zodiac sign that isn’t afraid of change and will adapt easily when they need too. Represented by twins, this sign is deeply independent, but their dualistic nature still has them in search of a lifelong partner.

Gemini constellation

The Gemini constellation is a group of stars in the northern hemisphere that’s known for its two brightest stars, Castor and Pollux and is located between Taurus and Cancer in the zodiac. According to Greek mythology the constellation of Gemini is made up of two twins: Castor and Pollux. Castor was the mortal son of King Tyndarus, while Pollux was the immortal son of Zeus. Both Castor and Pollux, being identical twins, were inseparable in their looks and actions. Castor was great horseman and Pollux was a great fighter. Together, they went with Jason on the Argo and saved the ship from a terrible storm. When Castor was killed in battle, Pollux pleaded with Zeus to bring him back. Zeus agreed to immortalize both Castor and Pollux, if they spend half of their time on the Earth and the other half amongst the stars in the heavens. Since then, when sailors saw these two stars together, they knew their journey would be prosperous. However, seeing only one star foretold bad luck. In Roman mythology, the constellation Gemini represents Romulus and Remus, the twins who founded Rome that we celebrate during Lupercalia.

In Babylon they were known as the Great Twins. The Twins were regarded as minor gods and were called Lugal-irra and Meslamta-ea, meaning respectively “The Mighty King” and “The One who has arisen from the Underworld.” They were regarded as guardians of doorways and may have originally been envisioned as a set of twins guarding the gates of the Underworld, who chopped the dead into pieces as they passed through the gates.

This constellation is a very special one as well since, it is the only one mentioned in Norse mythology among the Eddas. It is a story of how Þjazi, anglicized as Thiazi, Thjazi, Tjasse or Thiassi was a Frost Giant and a shapeshifter and how their eyes made it into the skies. The story goes; One day, while on a journey, Odin, Loki and Hœnir set up an earth oven to cook an oxen they just hunted. After a while they found that it would not cook. They found out that Þjazi in the form of a great eagle, stopped the oven from heating and demanded a part of the oxen. When the oxen was cooked, Þjazi ate so much of it that Loki became angry, grabbed his long staff and attempted to strike him, but the weapon stuck fast to Þjazi’s body and he took flight, carrying Loki up with him. As they flew across the land Loki shouted and begged to be let down as his legs banged against trees and stones, but Þjazi would only do so on the condition that Loki must lure Iðunn, the goddess of youth out of Asgard with her apples of youth, which he solemnly promised to do. Later, Þjazi, again in the form of an eagle, carried Iðunn and her apples away and the gods, deprived of Iðunn’s apples, began growing old and grey. Loki was going to bring back Iðunn. He borrowed a magical coat from Freyja, transformed into a falcon, flew to the hall of Þjazi, transformed Iðunn into a nut and carried her back to Asgard. When the other gods saw Þjazi in close pursuit of Loki, they lit a fire which burned Þjazi’s feathers, causing him to fall to the ground where he was killed. When Þjazi’s daughter Skadi came to avenge her father, the gods offered her atonement and compensation. She was given the hand of Njord in marriage and Odin took Þjazi’s eyes and placed them in the night sky as stars.

Gemini The Sign Of The Mind And Shifting Perspectives

During the Gemini full Moon we are guided to change our thoughts, and examine our current beliefs to let go of ones that no longer resonate with us. The Gemini full moon calls for us to let go of the need to know, and opens us up to the ways in which our trust in life needs to grow. It opens us up to relooking at how we see ourselves and the world around us allowing us to possibly, completely shift our perspectives for major growth and transformation. This enthusiastic energy allows us to embrace uncertainty. To walk through the different doorways of opportunities without fear or anxiety. Now is also a very good time for grounding or earthing, and for finding our way back to the path of our hearts and maybe even going a different direction to get there/ Doing this may allow you to see some new things. Our minds are a gift, a powerful tool that we can guide and use in whatever direction and purpose we desire. And so it’s time to use our minds for a higher purpose and for the highest purpose of humanity. Gemini, the mutable air sign known as the sign of the twins, brings a lively, adaptable energy to the Full Moon. With Gemini’s influence, you’re encouraged to keep an open mind and embrace curiosity as a tool for growth. The Full Moon in Gemini is a powerful moment to identify and release outdated thought patterns and limiting beliefs that have been holding you back. This phase invites you to clear mental clutter, opening up space for fresh perspectives and new possibilities.

Gemini the sign of communication

Gemini is an air sign and ruled by the planet Mercury, it’s about communication and trying different things in life, being adventurous, socializing, and using language as a tool. Take this time to bring out your strengths in the way you communicate with others and how you take the time to listen to others in your life as well. This is the time to set boundaries and let go of toxic ties and relationships that no longer serve you. If you’d like to improve communication in your life with the people around you, communication is ruled by Gemini and this is your time to do it. So, go inwards and ask yourself are there any ways that you communicate that are outdated and cause issues in your relation ships and then commit to let those patterns go.

Gemini The Sign of Learning

In astrology, Gemini is associated with learning and is said to be a sign of intellectual prowess. Gemini is said to be quick at learning, curious, versatile, and have a thirst for knowledge. Therefore, learning is ruled by Gemini. This is the sign to strengthen your mind and become a better learner. Gemini activates the thinking realms, the imagination and the mental channels, seeking patterns, connection and purpose. It’s a really highly mental energy that stimulates ideas and creativity. Gemini energy is also highly intelligent, which makes it a good time for studying or learning a new course or skill. Now is the time to look into subjects that require thinking and discussing ideas, including literature, science, philosophy, art, and more.

Themes for the Gemini full moon

This time, we experience the New Moon in emotional, Open minded, Witty, Social, Flirty, Distracted, Adaptable, Intellectual, dualistic, Expressive, and perspective shifting Gemini. When the Full Moon in Gemini graces the sky, it offers cosmic guidance for us to examine our patterns and release the thoughts and beliefs that no longer serve our highest good. Let’s explore some of the themes and energies of Gemini deeper below. The Gemini full moon is a powerful moon that amplifies the dualistic energy of Gemini allowing us to shift our perspective and learn new ways of being in this world.

Keep in mind that the full Moon relates to the continuation of your journey to manifest your desires and dreams. This will be especially strong this full moon being in the sign of the twins who day dream about the life you wish to create all the time. So, try and have any of your workings based on these topics, and be willing to be adaptable with those seeds of intention you had planted on the new moon. Don’t forget this full moon is layered with many energies for you to connect to as well like the harsh cold of winter’s approach, and the introspection of the winter solstice and yule.

What to be cautious of this Gemini full moon

We may be a little bit more scattered when this sign is aligned with the moon. the Gemini Moon personality can at times be easily distracted it’s hard to focus when there’s always something else that could use our attention or our heads are up in the clouds.. So, do your best to use skills that can help you focus like making to do lists, and grounding or centering often. We also need to be careful about the intensity level for how we react to things. When Gemini is affecting the moon each and every event no matter how small seems like it’s the most significant thing to happen to us. It’s important to take the time to check the facts with your emotions and reactions to make sure you are reacting to things with the valid intensity. Be careful to not catastrophize things.

Gemini and duality

Since, I am a grey witch every single energy I work with I look for the duality in that energy and how I can connect to it. This includes the full moon and the sign it currently is in; Gemini. This month’s full moon might seem pretty obvious to you; that it is literally the definition of dualistic energy to work with. First let’s talk about the duality of Gemini; the sign of the twins and aka the sign of duality in the zodiac. Gemini focuses on duality which means; the relationship between opposites. Logic and emotion, creator and created, “good and evil”, Wanted and unwanted, masculine and feminine, conscious and subconscious etc. and the union that exist between them. All of these are topics we can reflect on and work with using Gemini energy including using grey magic.

Gemini, represented by the twins, is all about the duality within us. Whether you call the two competing voices within the Ego and Soul, Higher Mind vs Lower Mind, or Inner critic vs Inner cheerleader, these dual voices exist within us all, and our role is to learn how to balance them out and keep them lovingly communicating with each other. This full Moon is less about manifesting new “things” and more about letting go of thoughts that no longer support us emotionally. This requires us to change our minds in order to change the thought patterns that aren’t currently supporting us and allowing us to truly be in alignment with our intentions. Gemini reminds us that duality is a natural expression. YES, unity may be a goal, but duality is our reality on this planet right now, and to feel that internally is normal. The energy of duality allows us to be flexible, change our mind, go new directions and be multifaceted with our thoughts, reactions, and how we interact with others. If you’re feeling the tug between opposites, it’s actually okay.

Candle Spell For Learning During Gemini Full Moon

Do you want to strengthen your mind and be able to absorb knowledge better? Do you struggle with focus and attention when you are trying to learn? This spells purpose is to do just that during a full moon in Gemini. All you will need is yourself, a quiet area, and a yellow candle. To make this spell more potent you can also hold selenite and then keep it on you when you are studying or learning the rest of the lunar cycle.

How to do spell:

Find a place you can be alone for a little bit undisturbed, and in quiet. Then put yourself into your sacred container connecting to the energy of knowledge, learning, studying and Gemini. You can do this by meditating, grounding, calling your energy back, or doing breathing techniques like boxed breathing.

Once you feel anchored to the energy of learning and Gemini. Light a yellow candle for mental clarity. If you’d like, you can hold a piece of selenite in your non-dominant hand as you write down the ways you want to improve your learning. Visualize yourself learning easily, taking in new ideas and being receptive to lessons you can learn. Once you vision seems clear recite this spell out loud; “I am open to learning anything and everything there is to learn. I learn easily and quickly. My mind works perfectly.” Blow out the candle when you are done and come place in your favorite place to study and learn.

Final thoughts

As the Full Moon in Gemini illuminates the sky, it brings a unique opportunity to embrace change, explore new ideas, and strengthen your connections with others. This is a time to be curious, communicate openly, and adapt to whatever comes your way. By aligning with Gemini’s vibrant energy, you can gain clarity, release what no longer serves you, and pave the way for fresh perspectives and personal growth. The Gemini Full Moon is an invitation to deepen our understanding of how our upbringing, education, and culture continue to shape our mindset, worldviews, and perceptions. It is an opportunity to remember that our mind is meant to be a tool we have full control over, not something we are enslaved by. Embrace this moment as a turning point in your journey, allowing the light of the Full Moon to guide you toward new possibilities.

Don’t forget to make preparations for your full moon hangover you may experience after this lumination. If you don’t know what a full moon hangover is or how to deal with one you can read all about it in my previous blog post here!

Working with the Introspective, detail orientated, and helpful Virgo New Moon

We are entering a new lunar phase this week, on September 2nd; the New moon. As the Moon changes signs approximately every 2-3 days, we feel the influence over our moods and intuition shift. This month we find the moon in the practical, organized, productive, grounded, nurturing, compassionate, helpful, reflective, and detail orientated sign of the maiden; Virgo. As the moon begins her cycle in the sign Virgo; we feel a deep, introspective, and comforting pull to go deep within the soils of who we are to reflect. Virgo reminds us of the power each of our daily actions and decisions has. While pushing us to make the changes we must. This new moon calls for us to look at our own lives to see where we want to put some attention to detail towards ourselves.

When the New Moon in Virgo arrives, it’s a good time to embrace fresh starts and new beginnings. As an earth sign, Virgo’s energy encourages you to get organized and focus on precision. To focus on the execution of your plans to meet your goals and serve those in need throughout your community. Virgo is all about creating order out of chaos, making it the perfect moment to set detailed intentions and plan your next steps. Virgo rules work, small projects, tasks, chores, and the details. This makes it a time we can focus on what we need to get done with extra productivity and efficiency. The Virgo New Moon provides an opportunity to make a list and go through everything that you didn’t have the time or energy for the month before. Then get them done and out of the way now as you prep for the long winter ahead.

This Virgo new moon, brings balance to your life with order, logic, and grounding. The Virgo new Moon forces you to become aware of the state of your health as Virgo is the ruler of all matters of health and wellness in the zodiac. This includes your mental, emotional and physical health, which may push you to make changes in your lifestyle and allow you to get the support you need to release old hurts. This new moon also brings with it a sense of balance with all of the hard work you have to put in for the fall harvest that is right around the corner, while also celebrating the joy and gratitude for the bounty the Earth has given you this season.

New Moon What Is It And Why We Honor It?

Every month, the New Moon carries us over the threshold of a new beginning. So, let’s talk about the new moon in general before we reorder the soils of our lives with new moon in Virgo.

So, who is Virgo?

This sign gets a lot of crap in the zodiac and many do not like to work with it and we often see people talking about how this is their most hated sign and energy to work with. For me this moon is one of my favorites every time it comes around. Maybe, it’s because I not only am a Virgo moon and rising, but I have Virgo in 9 of my houses so, when this moon comes around I personally am amplified. Or, maybe it’s because this energy is so dense and steeped in duality and movement. Which, I just simply can not wait to see what I can accomplish and get done while in it. But, let’s talk about who Virgo is to the Zodiac and the energy she represents.

Virgo is represented by the virgin or maiden archetype and is deeply connected to the element of earth and is a mutable sign. Virgo is an Earth sign so it’s practical, stable, and grounded but, it’s also related to Mercury. Which means it has an active mind and is related to communication as well. Virgo reminds us of the importance of maintaining a solid connection with the Earth and encourages us to connect with the divine order amidst the vast universal chaos. It reminds us the comfort the bounty of the earth has to offer all around us and the beauty order can create in nature.

The sign of Virgo, is rooted in the physical world which makes Virgo the sign of health and wellness, so right now we may focus on trying to work on health issues. This includes scheduling needed medical appointments, changing your eating habits, hydrating yourself, adding exercise, and adjusting your sleep schedule. Virgo’s ruling planet Mercury has dominion over the brain and the nervous system, which reminds us of the links between the mind and the functions of the body. This can be the perfect energy to use to help you eliminate a bad habit, or to quit something that is causing you harm.

Virgo can also be seen across many pantheons as a key representation to the seasons, duality, and a key part to the divine feminine energy we all are connected to. Virgo is represented by the maiden and virgin energy making her vital to the triple goddess representation of the divine feminine energy. She represents and connects us to the first pivotal transformation and shift we go thru in our lives moving from child to a maiden before the next phase into the mother energy of our lives. You see this energy and representation with goddesses like Persephone and her story of transformation to power thru duality.

Virgo the Maiden/Virgin

Unlike the majority of other zodiac signs, the symbol for Virgo is very unique since it is not an animal. Instead, the symbol is the beautiful maiden or the virgin and is depicted as a young woman carrying a sheaf of wheat, an image that can be interpreted as a fertility goddess or a harvest maiden. The maiden stands for beauty, purity, and tranquility. Virgo translates to “virgin” in Latin and the maiden is symbolic of this translation but, not in a literal sense. Her presence is considered a reflection of patience, integrity, and honor, all traits that the Virgo displays within the zodiac. The Virgo symbol of the Maiden also expresses the service-oriented qualities of this zodiac sign. As a grounded earth sign and an analytical mutable sign, Virgo is the purist of the zodiac, and also highly organized and clean.

The Virgo Constellation

Virgo is the largest constellation of the Zodiac and the second largest constellation in the sky located between the constellations Leo and Libra. It contains the bright star Spica, along with many exoplanets and deep-space objects. The constellation is also widely associated with the harvest. It marks the part of the sky where the Sun rises in autumn, when crops are harvested. In some Greek stories and myths, Virgo is Persephone, the daughter of the Greek goddess Demeter who ruled over the harvests. While in others, Virgo relates to Dike, the Greek goddess of justice. Virgo is therefore usually pictured as a young maiden standing or lying on her side and holding a sheaf of wheat. The star Spica represents the grain in her hand within the constellation.

Themes for the Virgo new moon

Every New Moon contains its own themes, which are related to the sign that it falls under. This time, we experience the New Moon in the practical, organized, productive, grounded, nurturing, compassionate, helpful, reflective, and detail orientated sign of the maiden/virgin; Virgo. The maiden is also the sign that represents our health, wellness, the mind, and the connection between our body and the mind. When you rearrange the soils of your soul, with not only the moon as your guide but the maiden as well. You are most likely to see themes focused on these topics as you sift through and analyze your emotions and thoughts. The Virgo New Moon is going to bring the spotlight on your health/ wellness, your inner thoughts and dialogue, your daily habits, as well as on the organization of your home and the tiny details that make up your life. Let’s explore some of the themes and energies of Virgo deeper below.

Virgo the Practical and analytical mind

Virgo is deeply connected to our practical and analytical side of our mind and it is heightened with it’s connection to mercury as well. With it being so analytical this energy can cause us to go deep into our minds and reflect. The Virgo new Moon highlights the invitation to notice in what areas of our lives we need more discernment, better boundaries, and a stronger connection with the Earth. Virgo likes to cut through the noise and get to the good stuff; constantly sorting out thoughts, feelings, and everything around. Virgo energy allows you to figure out what’s useful or useless, what’s true or not true, what’s right or wrong.

The Virgo new Moon offers us chances to see where better standards may be needed, where we may be ungrounded or excessively idealistic, and what needs to be differently structured or organized for the sake of better functionality or health. This lunation also invites us to refine our capacity to discern between the whispers of our intuition and the voice of our fears and insecurities. Take the time to really focus on differentiating between those voices especially in this energy and don’t allow the analytical energy of Virgo to turn into ruminating thoughts which it can very easily do. This new Moon in Virgo is a time to let go of self-doubt, perfectionism, and self-criticism as you step into your potential.

Virgo the sign of heightened productivity

The Virgo new Moon is often a time of heightened productivity. Virgo is the sign of work in the zodiac, and new moons rule beginnings; which makes this a time to really focus on the things you need to get done. Including the urge to create and start your to do lists. This is going to be overwhelming and you may become very hyper focused on them and take great joy in checking each task off the list as you finish it. We can take on and tackle all the tiny little projects, tasks, and chores at home or at a job, we have been putting off but, now must take care of and get done. This new moon is your chance to get organized, analyze your goals, and take action towards your dreams, without being overly critical of yourself.

Virgo is very detailed orientated, and thrives in order and cleanliness. So, when we are in this energy we can be focused and pay close attention to detail. By detail, I mean every tiny little detail. You may become aware of things in your life, your home, and relationships you never may have noticed before. Because, of this we can get hyper focused on tidying things up in our physical space by doing a fall cleaning, reorganizing our home, or purging and donating things.

With the extra attention to detail we can take a look at all areas of our life to see where it can use some more structure and order to lead to more efficient productivity. I know for me I end up redoing my bullet journal, my family binder, my schedule, my sons schedule, the list could go on. I end up endlessly planning and rearranging things but, in a very reflective way with purpose and drive for long term goals. Virgo reminds us that our time is finite and that we must treat it as a precious resource.

Virgo always being of service to others

Virgo is the sign of service to others and is overflowing with nurturing energy that simply wants to help anyone and everyone they see that needs it. Virgo is literally the healing energy of the cosmos and the energy that will help you with anything you need help with. Virgo takes deep happiness from helping others as well. You see this with many of your nurses, doctors, lawyers and social workers being from this sign. Virgo’s essence of being of service encourages you to align your actions with your heart’s desire, making this a powerful moment for intentional living for the greater good of the collective.

Since, Virgo loves to lend a helping hand, don’t be surprised if you are the first person to volunteer when a friend asks for a favor right now. But, don’t be mistaken; you won’t feel obligated in the least bit. Because Virgo loves to pitch in, you’ll not only want to come to someone’s aid, but you’ll also get extreme satisfaction from it.

This new moon makes it a great time to take a look around your community and see where you can serve those around you. What needs in community are not being met? How can you help those needs be met? How can you serve and nurture those around you? Where in your community can you volunteer your time to serve others? It’s a perfect lunation to start volunteering somewhere, plan a fundraiser, or host a community awareness event; especially focused on mental health with Virgo being the sign of the mind.

Virgo New Moon and Duality

Since, I am a grey witch every single energy I work with I look for the duality in that energy and how I can connect to it.

First, let’s talk about the sign Virgo.  I may be a bit biased on this sign to be honest since it is my birth sign, my ruling sign, and it dominates my entire chart ruling 9 of my houses. But, Virgo in my opinion is an energy that we miss the duality of often. Virgo is known for being very analytical, methodical, and detail oriented which creates an energy focused on change, goals, growth, problem solving, tiny details, and at times perfection. But, this sign is also one of the most compassionate, caring, and nurturing signs of the zodiac as well. Which also creates an energy that is very deep, loving, emotional, sensitive, and at times self sacrificing. The mix between these two energies weaves an energy and magic that pushes you to look at every tiny detail for perfection and ways to change things and those around you and for yourself. With the deep nurturing desire to push them and/or yourself to grow, heal, and be the best versions we are all capable of being for the greater good of the collective.

Second; the new moon itself is all about duality and illuminating the night sky in both light and shadows. The new moon is all about rebirth, renewal, and the beginning of a new cycle, which puts you in a transitional liminal space and energy. In order for you to be in a space to begin again, to transition, and be reborn you had to just come from and ending and death. If you want to know more about duality and being a grey witch you can watch my class with Divination Academy about it here.

What To Be Cautious Of This Virgo New Moon

So, let’s talk about the reasons why this sign tends to be so hated and what to look our for yourself with the Virgo energy. Since Virgo is so attached to your analytical side and so detail orientated it can come off as and be very critical at times of others. So, try and slow down and be clear with your communication with others during this time. Let them know you are coming from a place of caring, and simply wanting to help.

With it being detail orientated one thing this energy may do is cause your reflection and analysis to get very critical and harsh with yourself and cause some perfectionism to take over. So, remember to focus on the part of the Virgo energy that is nurturing and helping to others and extend it to yourself. And remember Virgo is the sign of health so physical self care can really build self compassion and help keep your critical thoughts at a productive level and not allow them to reach a harmful one.

Remember how Virgo brings heightened productivity and a push to get stuff done? That can sometimes go into overdrive with the Virgo energy. It can become so strong you simply want to go, go, and go. You may feel the need to get so much done you push yourself to burn out. DON”T LET THAT HAPPEN! During this time remember that the only way you can continue to be productive is by taking those breaks now and than when you need them. So take them! Set yourself some reminders in your phone even if you have to. Nothing, feels worse than doing a massive amount of work to watch it all backslide because you burn yourself out and can’t follow through.

Shadow work questions for the Virgo new moon

Like, we have talked about many times in this blogpost this Virgo new moon you will feel the comforting pull of Virgo to be introspective, and really go deep into yourself. While you do this, consider what provides a sense of stability and what brings stress or chaos. This can help you make better decisions about where to put your energy. If you want to follow that grounding, introspective pull to self awareness from Virgo right now, shadow work is a great way to do this. Whether you do it thru meditation, actual shadow work, or just journaling while in reflection; below is a list of prompts and topics to connect with the energy of the Virgo new moon.

  • What are the areas in my life that need the most attention and improvement right now?
  • How do I envision my ideal day, and what steps can I take to make that vision a reality?
  • What habits do I want to cultivate to support my physical and emotional well-being?
  • What past experiences or patterns do I need to release to move forward with clarity?
  • What are the key values and principles that guide my decisions and actions?
  • How can I be of service to others while also honoring my own needs and boundaries?
  • What areas of my life need the most organization and structure?
  • Reflect on aspects of your life that feel chaotic or disorganized. How can you bring more order to these areas?
  • What habits or routines do I want to establish to support my well-being?
  • Consider daily practices that could enhance your physical, mental, and emotional health. What small changes can you make?
  • How can I be of service to myself and others during this lunar cycle?
  • Think about ways you can nurture yourself and contribute to the well-being of others. What acts of kindness or service resonate with you?
  • What goals do I want to achieve, and what steps can I take to reach them?
  • Identify specific goals and break them down into actionable steps. How can you use Virgo’s detail-oriented energy to create a clear plan?
  • What old patterns or beliefs do I need to release to move forward?
  • Explore any limiting beliefs or habits that are holding you back. How can you let go of these to make room for new growth?
  • How can I create a balanced approach to my work and personal life?
  • Reflect on your current work-life balance. What changes can you make to ensure you’re giving enough time to both areas?

Leaf Intention Setting Ritual

One of my favorite things to do when the air gets a little crisper, and the leaves begin to change color and fall; is to use the fall leaves for intention setting rituals! It’s a simple and fun thing to do and the prep gets you out into the beauty of nature which allows you the ability to connect to the element of earth; the ruler of Virgo.

For your prep work grab something to write with. I find that sharpies tend to work best for actually sticking to the leaves. If you don’t have any, you can also use small strips of paper you can mix into a handful of leaves. Next, take the time to head outside and go on a mindful nature walk while you look for and find as many leaves as you have intentions to set.

Once, you have them simply find a peaceful spot where ever you are in nature that is calling to you. Than take the time to take deep, mindful breaths in and out taking in all the sounds, smells, and sensations of the Earth all around you. Consider what provides a sense of stability to your life and what brings stress or chaos. This can help you make better decisions about where to put your energy and what intentions you are about to set. Envision the intentions now that you are going to set this lunar cycle. Focus on each tiny detail of your intentions. Focus on the plans and how you will achieve them and how productive they make you feel. When you feel set on your intentions write them on your leaves or little strips of paper while holding the vision of each detail in your minds eye. Finally, on your next exhale release your intentions to the winds of fall and the detail orientated and productive Virgo new moon.

Wrap up

However you choose to connect to this new moon and work with its energy be prepared to experience the reflective, productive, detail orientated, and grounding energy of the maiden. During this Virgo New Moon, remember it’s the perfect time to focus on organizing your life and setting detailed intentions. Virgo energy is all about precision and practicality, making it ideal for refining your daily routines and caring for your physical body. As you align with this lunar cycle, you’ll find that the structured approach of Virgo helps you create a solid foundation for your goals to achieve your wildest dreams. Remember this new moon calls for you to look at your own life to see where you need to focus on the attention to detail towards yourself and how you need to rearrange things for healthy productivity.

Working With The Ambitious, grounded, And Fertile Capricorn Buck Full Moon

We will be entering a new lunar phase this week; the full moon on Sunday July 21st. The full buck moon in capricorn graces our skies amongst the bounty of nature, the longer days of summer and the masculine fertility flourishing around us. This full moon is special as it is the second consecutive Full Moon in Capricorn as the June Full Moon was also in this grounded earth sign. This creates a continuation of the energy during the June Full Moon during this full moon in July. This means the intentions and manifestations set last month are going to be a continued focus this month for even greater success and accomplishment.

During this Full moon we will be focused on achievement, responsibilities and success. But, we may end up putting too much on our shoulders as a result, which leads to a crushing weight overwhelming us with burn out. We have to be realistic and rational about it all, and not demand more from ourselves or others than is actually possible right now. This full moon under Capricorn calls for a deeper connection to our nurturing environments and listening to the messages we are getting from our heart. If you’re feeling called to slow down, receive the message.

A Capricorn Full Moon is all about success, progress, achievement, and never taking “no” for an answer. We can see results from the work we’ve put in, we can hit new heights, make what we want happen, get recognition, and make progress on our path. We can feel connected to the path we’re on, and like we’re going in the right direction. We get clarity of our sacred contracts and purposes and how we will live in accordance with them. Join me in this guide to learn all about; Working with the Ambitious, grounding, And fertile Capricorn Buck Full Moon.

The Buck Moon

July’s Buck Moon name and spiritual meaning are connected to the male deer also called a buck. During the Buck Moon season, male deer have grown their velvety antlers nad have emerged to attract potential mates. As the size and strength of their antlers are signs of fertility to the females. They will fight other males to assert their dominance, show motivation, and win over females. The Buck Moon’s energy can bring passion, courage and a desire for action which can result in positive changes and surprises in our lives. This energy also brings with it a sense of increased ambition, motivation, and fertility to our lives this season.

So, Who is Capricorn?

As a cardinal earth sign, Capricorn is about initiating and building. Capricorn is steadfast, hard-working, goal-orientated and relentlessly responsible. Capricorn is ruled by Saturn. Saturn is the planet of bounds, borders, barriers, constraints and confinements. Saturn, is also the planet associated with time. This makes Capricorn also connected with history and tradition, and asks us to reflect on the environment we’re living in and the systems and structures that are in place.

Capricorn is the height of the Zodiac, the highest point, and this is why it relates to our goals, our aspirations, what we strive for, and the heights we reach in life. We see this in the mountain goat thriving in the peaks of mountains. Capricorn is an ambitious energy with grand ideals; full of potential and a feeling of self importance. Capricorn knows it is meant for something special and expresses itself in pursuit of that. But, unlike the other earth sign Taurus who measures their successes in money and wealth, Capricorn seeks power and control.

With it being a full moon as well it becomes a time of culmination and results. The Capricorn Full Moon is usually a time when we see the results of hard and smart work, and we can reach new heights, achieve, and succeed. That is; if we’ve done things the right way and for the right reasons.

This moon focus on where you’re feeling insecure, lack support, or are having challenges with resources, and work to find a way around, tackle core issues, or find wiggle room. With this first Full Moon in Capricorn, it is a time to be honest with ourselves as well, and recognise where we have not yet mastered aspects of our selves or lives, then take aligned action to rectify that.

Capricorn The Sea goat

Capricorns are symbolized by the sea goat, a mythological creature with the body of a goat and tail of a fish. We often think of Capricorns as high achievers or business-oriented workhorses. This speaks to the goat aspect of their sea-goat symbol. Goats are scrappy, and some of them are capable of climbing to great heights. The fishtail portion of the sea-goat, on the other hand, holds the ocean and the vast, almost spiritual world that lies beneath it. This imagery speaks to Capricorn’s ability to navigate both the material and emotional realms. It’s the job of the Capricorn to strike a balance between these two realms of earthly achievements and spiritual truth.

Capricorn The Constellation Capricornus

In Greek mythology, Capricorn is linked to the god Pan, who is often depicted as partially goat-like. Pan is said to have the upper body of a human and the lower body of a goat. In one story, Pan dived into a river to escape the monster Typhon, but only transformed part of himself, becoming half goat and half fish. Zeus was amused by this and placed the image among the stars as the constellation Capricornus.

Capricorn The Ruler of Responsibilities

The hard-working sign values service, honor and public duty. Career, professionalism and reputation are extremely important to Capricorn, so the Moon here spotlights our need to succeed .Now is time to prioritize what you truly want to be remembered for and the work you’d like to contribute to the world. Capricorn is a sign that means business! Instead of being concerned with short-term satisfaction, you’ll be more inclined to dig in and focus on your long-term goals. Just like the mountain goat resides on top of the mountain, Capricorn energy feels its natural place is that of a leader, taking charge from the top. Because of this, during this full moon, you may feel empowered to take accountability for your actions or to simply step up and take charge somewhere in your life.

Capricorn The Sign of progress

The full moon in Capricorn always coincides with a moment of recognition and accomplishment. This is an aligned time to celebrate yourself and how far you’ve come. To take a look at all the progress you have already made. To stand up tall on your very own mountain, you have climbed to the top of and bask in your hard work to get there. It’s a time reflect on what worked on your climb up and what didn’t as well so, you can use that knowledge on your next climb up a mountain. To allow you a clear path and a greater chance of success going forward.

The Grounding Energy Of Capricorn

Capricorns is said to have a grounded, practical spirit. It is a sign associated with stability, groundedness, determination, hard work, and ambition. Capricorns are the last earth sign of the zodiac, and are said to embody the stable and nurturing qualities of their element. When the moon is in Capricorn it becomes a time to really ground into who you are, the direction you want to go, the path you will take, and duty to the world around you.

Themes Of Capricorn

We have talked a lot about who Capricorn is and how Capricorn can affect you and benefit you. Now let’s list all the topics to consider that correspond to the full Moon in Capricorn. Keep in mind that the full Moon relates to the continuation of your journey to manifest your desires and dreams. And this is especially strong this full moon with that continuation from the June moon and it being the second consecutive full moon in Capricorn. It is also a time to release all the things that no longer serve us and create blockage to our manifesting. It is the time to really truly nurture the seeds of intention you had planted during the new moon so, they can bloom and thrive. So, try and have any of your workings based on these topics be grounded in those seeds of intention you had planted on the new moon.

Also remember you have the abundance, and fertile energy of summer, the month of July, and the energy of the young buck looking for it’s mate to connect to as well.

Things To Look Out For With Capricorn

We may feel easily overwhelmed by responsibilities we have right now. We can feel the weight of them pushing us down, and we need to work on managing them better. We may need to work on saying no more, and leaving room for small breaks where we can.

We also need to be aware of stubbornness right now. Persistence can often becomes a double-edged sword and turn into stubbornness. While it empowers us to stand our ground it may make us resistant to alternative viewpoints or new directions. Capricorns’ unwavering commitment to high standards may also force us to be over critical, making it challenging for us to accept imperfections in ourselves and others right now.

Capricorn energy can sometimes be overprotective of itself as well. Being cautious with expression of words or emotions, in fear of moving away from the perfect ideal image of the all powerful leader that it deeply craves to embody. So, be cautious of that coming up right now and remember that a true leader is authentic in who they are and not in an image they want others to see.

Capricorn And Duality

Since, I am a grey witch every single energy I work with I look for the duality in that energy and how I can connect to it. This includes the full moon and the energy of the zodiac sign it currently is in. First, the full moon itself is all about duality as it is another time of transformation, transition, and rebirth. During this time we are pushed into a liminal space that forces us to look at the things, people, and places that have been obstacles or holding us back. This can be a thing of beauty and hope as well as a thing of pain and darkness which forces us into duality. Second, the energy of Capricorn we see duality not only in it’s symbol the sea goat but, also in one of the main themes Capricorn represents; ambition. The sea goat like we talked about earlier is a mythical being that literally represents the duality of the material realm and the emotional or mythical realm. Others even believe the sea goat represents the duality of human existence through evolution, starting in the sea and than moving upwards onto land. Than there is the duality of ambition. While ambition is a very wanted thing. It is pivotal to our motivation, getting things done, and thriving in our life. But, on the other hand it also can cloud our mind, narrow our view/vision, damage our relationships, and lead to burn out by not caring for ourselves properly.

Think about and focus on the things that are working in your life becoming more abundant and focus on the things that are not working being removed and no longer there. The things that hold me back from being my true self, accomplishing my goals, and having endless success. I release the emotional pain that I carry with me each and every day. Working With The Emotional, Sensitive, and Foundational Cancer New moon

We are entering a new lunar phase this week; the New moon. As the Moon changes signs approximately every 2-3 days, we feel her influence over our moods and intuition shift. As the moon begins her cycle in Cancer we are pushed to dive deep into the depths and waves of our emotions. Cancer is one of the most sensitive and intuitive signs of the zodiac. It’s ruled by the moon so when the moon is in the sign of Cancer at any time, you can be sure you’ll be feeling more emotional than normal. The overall energy of this lunation highlights our ongoing struggle to strive for emotional freedom and independence against all odds.

With a new moon in Cancer, you can focus on manifesting a better connection to your feelings. Cancer rules emotions, and you can work on any emotional issues. You can work on manifesting a stronger internal foundation for your feelings, and for who you are as a person. You can work on manifesting being more open with your feelings, walking in other people’s shoes, having improved memory, or focusing on happier memories.

The Cancer new moon connects us with the feeling of home within ourselves, pushes us to develop a new awareness of our emotional nature, and establish a new relationship with our sensitivity and vulnerability. It represents our foundation in life, our home, our roots, and our family of origin or our motherland. So our manifestations can focus on things like our home, and family life as well. The stronger our foundation, the more we can accomplish in the outside world. In this blogpost let’s dive into the depths of what the Cancer new moon can do for you, your life, and your magic.

New Moon What Is It And Why We Honor It?

Every month, the New Moons carry us over the threshold of a new beginning. So, let’s talk about the new moon in general before we go gusting through what the Gemini moon can do for you and your life.

Themes For The Cancer New Moon

Every New Moon contains its own themes, which are related to the sign that it falls under. This time, we experience the New Moon in the emotional, sensitive, loving, caring, forgiving, compassionate, foundational, sign of the crab; Cancer. The crab is also the sign that represents our family, our childhood, our ancestral line, and our past. When diving into the depths of your soul, with not only the moon as your guide but the crab as well. You are most likely to see themes focused on these topics as you swim among your emotions. The Cancer New Moon is going to bring the spotlight on your personal life, your inner life, your emotional life, as well as on home and family dynamics that we need to address or take care of, maybe in a completely new way. The New Moon in her home sign invites us to strengthen our ability to tap into our intuition and reminds us of the value of giving space to our emotions. Let’s explore some of the themes and energies of Cancer deeper below.

The Cancer new moon infuses us with its energy. Making it a powerful time for emotional healing, enhancing psychic abilities, and nurturing relationships. It’s also an excellent time for enhancing empathy, and deepening your intuitive abilities by working with your clairs.

Cancer The Ruler Of Home And Family

Cancer is the ruler of the home and family, so we can focus more on home and family matters. This can be a time to work on projects at home, plan for family gatherings, visit family, or redefine the dynamics in your home by making shift inside of it. When the new moon is in Cancer this is a time to go back to our roots, who we are, where we came from, and work on releasing anything holding us back emotionally that is connected to our generational lineage, our childhood, and our upbringing. Now is a great time to begin looking into childhood wounds and working to start to healing them. Cancer is also the sign of mothering energy, so during this Moon you’ll feel a stronger urge to nurture and care for not only your own family more deeply, but everyone as if everyone was one of your children.

Cancer the sign of Foundations

Cancer is the very bottom of the Zodiac, so it relates to internal foundations. The Cancer New Moon can help us strengthen ourselves internally, and we can naturally feel more secure. It can be a time when we dig deep into the foundation of who we are and are able to use that security to start new things in our life. Especially if we are working on building something from the ground up.

The Cancer Constellation

Cancer New Moon and Duality

What To Be Cautious Of This Cancer New Moon

When it comes to the Cancer new moon emotions will be heightened during the Cancer Moon, and it’s easy to become moody if you don’t express how you’re feeling. So make sure to express those hidden feelings that you have allowed to sink to the depths. Another thing to be cautious of with the new moon in Cancer is not allow yourself to build up stronger defense walls.

Meditation for an improved home

Our home is not only where our hearts live but, it’s our homebase and physical container we come back to. At times it can become hectic, or unstable for all kinds of reasons. Use this meditation below to bring more peace, harmony, and stability into your home with the crab, the ruler of our home and foundation.

Get into sacred container while focusing your intentions and energy on visualizing exactly what you want your home environment to be like with a clear quartz in your hand.

Next, light a white candle for purity, peace, and cleansing energy. Continue to focus on visualizing everything about your home, from what it looks like, what it feels like to be in it, who is in it etc. Once you feel set in that image take a pen or paper and either write out your intentions for your home or draw out your home if you can.

Once you are done putting your intentions down on paper, hold your crystal in both hands visualizing all unwanted energy and things not written on that paper leaving your home and being sucked into your crystal. When you feel all unwanted energy and things have entered your crystal, blow out your candle and take it outside and bury it in the earth away from the threshold of your home. Take your list of intentions written or drawings and place on your altar to be seen until the next new moon.

Spell for emotional healing

Cancer is the sign of emotions and nurturing which makes it a very potent time to go within and do some emotional healing. Especially with family wounds, childhood wounds, and scars from the past. Use the spell below during the cancer new moon to bring emotional healing to your life.

Heal the inner scars and wounds you touch and I wish to longer carry. Heal my heart, and soul so here on out I can be merry.”

Working With The Ambitious, grounded, And Responsible Capricorn Full Moon

We will be entering a new lunar phase this week; the full moon. The Full Strawberry Moon in Capricorn graces the skies amidst the ripened fruits of our labors and fertility of nature. The strawberry Moon is a time to celebrate your blessings and indulge in life’s sweetness. It’s a time to prepare for the ripening of your intentions and make way for abundance.

This full moon is even more special coming right after the peak of the sun’s energy yesterday with the celebration of Litha and the summer solstice. Plus, what is extra, extra special about this Full Moon is that it’s the first of two Full Moons in the sign of Capricorn, the second, trickier one will be a month later. All these energies combined are creating a unique, potent, portal for manifesting our biggest goals into fruition in our life and creating a life where we thrive at the top of the mountain.

Join me in this guide to learn all about; Working with the Ambitious, grounding, And Responsible Capricorn Full Moon.

There are so many ways to work with the full moon, to learn more about the basics of working with the full moon energy check out my blog post here. But, remember each full moon will be slightly different and have different practices to add and different ways to do it based on which zodiac sign the full moon is currently in at the time.

The Strawberry Moon

This Full Moon is also called the Strawberry Moon because it’s the last moon of Spring and the first moon of the summer solstice. Some indigenous tribes and cultures also gave the Strawberry Moon its name to signal the best time of the year to pick fruit and berries when they were the ripest and juiciest.

To release all the things that no longer serve us and create blockage to our manifesting. It is the time to really truly nurture the seeds of intention you had planted during the new moon so, they can bloom and thrive. So, try and have any of your workings based on these topics be grounded in those seeds of intention you had planted on the new moon.

Others even believe the sea goat represents the duality of human existence through evolution, starting in the sea and than moving upwards on to land.

Working With The Expressive, Mind-Stirring, And Perspective Shifting Gemini New Moon

We are entering a new lunar phase this week; the New moon. As the Moon changes signs approximately every 2-3 days, we feel her influence over our moods and intuition shift. As the moon begins her cycle in Gemini it becomes an opportune time to initiate change, take action towards goals, renew oneself and shift your perspective. The Moon beginning her cycle in the curious and communicative sign of the Twins will stir our minds, increase our desire for variety, we will thirst for information, shift our perspectives and awaken our urge to connect with others. This very optimistic New Moon tends to gloss over potential problems, but its can-do attitude is one of its greatest strengths and makes it one of the least emotional new moons to experience.

Gemini is the sign of the mind, so the Gemini New Moon really stirs things up in our mind, and makes us more engaged, expressive, and communicative. We can connect with our minds, ideas can flow, our perspective can shift, and we can take action with our plans. We can share what we’re thinking, and information can be passed along. It’s a good time for learning anything, sharing knowledge, writing, or speaking.

With this new moon, we want a variety of projects and ideas to focus on, and we can go from one thing to the next quickly. So this new moon embrace the possibility that there are many ways and paths to reach the same destination. The New Moon in Gemini wants us to plant a specific type of seed in the form of a thought or an idea. Don’t worry about control either it’s perfectly fine with not knowing how these plans will unfold. If an idea has been coming back to you over and over again and you have been hesitant about doing it, now is the time to plant it and just do it. In this blogpost let’s go gusting through what the Gemini new moon can do for you, your life, and your magic.

New Moon What Is It And Why We Honor It?

Every month, the New Moons carry us over the threshold of a new beginning. So, let’s talk about the new moon in general before we go gusting through what the Gemini moon can do for you and your life.

Every New Moon contains its own themes, which are related to the sign that it falls under. This time, we experience the New Moon in emotional, Open minded, Witty, Social, Flirty, Distracted, Adaptable, Intellectual, dualistic, Expressive, and perspective shifting Gemini. Let’s explore some of the themes and energies of Gemini deeper below.

You may also feel a pull to reach out to those you no longer speak to, in order to rekindle communication or even put yourself out there to create new relationships and friendships. Because, as a zodiac sign, Gemini is highly sociable and flirtatious. You can tap into this by, attending an in person gathering like a moon ceremony or joining a new group on social media to create new connections. Additionally, if you ever had another language you wanted to learn this would be a great moon to set that intention or goal. This new moon will allow it to be eezy breezy and give you a thirst to absorb it all and use it to help you venture out and create new connections. If you’d like to improve communication in your life with the people around you, communication is ruled by Gemini and this is your time to do it.

Gemini The Sign Of The New Projects And Ideas

The airy Gemini New Moon is versatile and adaptable. It’s a highly creative time that may help you reinvent yourself. It’s an interesting New Moon in the fact that we’re experiencing a time of adaptability and change. With this New Moon you may have innovative new ideas that inspire you to move in a new direction. Curiosity is a key Gemini trait, so a Gemini New Moon is a very good time to develop new interests or hobbies as well. Gemini brings with it a breath of fresh air, new ideas, new perspectives, and the opportunity to connect with our higher sources of wisdom.

Gemini The Sign Of The Mind And Shifting Perspectives

During the Gemini New Moon we are guided to change our thoughts, and welcome in new, supportive perspectives and beliefs. The Gemini new moon calls for us to let go of the need to know, and opens us up to the ways in which our trust in life needs to grow. It opens us up to relooking at how we see ourselves and the world around us allowing us to possibly, completely shift our perspectives for major growth and transformation. This enthusiastic energy allows us to embrace uncertainty. To walk through the different doorways of opportunities without fear or anxiety. Now is also a very good time for grounding or earthing, and for finding our way back to the path of our hearts and maybe even going a different direction to get there which may allow you to see some new things. Our minds are a gift, a powerful tool that we can guide and use in whatever direction and purpose we desire. And so it’s time to use our minds for a higher purpose and for the highest purpose of humanity.

Gemini New Moon and Duality

Since, I am a grey witch every single energy I work with I look for the duality in that energy and how I can connect to it. This includes the new moon and the sign it currently is in; Gemini. This month’s new moon might seem pretty obvious to you; that it is literally the definition of dualistic energy to work with.

This New Moon is less about manifesting new “things” and more about manifesting new thoughts that support us emotionally.

What To Be Cautious Of This Gemini New Moon

We may be a little bit more scattered when this sign is aligned with the moon. Astrologers would categorize the Gemini Moon personality as easily distracted it’s hard to focus when there’s always something else that could use our attention.

Cornucopia New Moon Abundance Spell

New moons are a great time to work on calling in the intention of abundance, prosperity, good luck, and wealth. Especially during a Gemini new moon which will open up new paths for you to receive abundance from which can lead to a massive increase in your life. The purpose of this spell is to attract prosperity, fortune, and abundance during the new moon through the use of an ancient sacred symbol of abundance the cornucopia.

What you will need:

  • A green candle; a votive size will work
  • Some bay leaves
  • A stick of cinnamon
  • A handful of Rice
  • Some coins and paper money ( I recommend doing 8 of each to connect to abundance)
  • Green aventurine *optional
  • A green piece of paper preferably cardstock
  • Tape

How to perform the spell:

Find a place you can be alone for a little bit undisturbed, and in quiet. Then put yourself into your sacred container connecting to the energy of abundance and the new moon. You can do this by meditating, grounding, calling your energy back, or doing breathing techniques like boxed breathing.

Once you feel anchored to the energy of abundance and the new moon. Begin by rolling the paper into a cone shape and securing the paper cone with a few pieces of tape. This cone becomes your cornucopia. As your roll the paper into a cone shape, say the following: “By the magic and abundance of the new moon I make this cornucopia tonight. To be a vessel of wealth, good luck, and prosperity”

Now grab your green candle and say: “As I hold this green candle in my hands I enchant it to send abundance across the land.” Now set your candle down feeling the energy of abundance filling the container around you. As you light your candle say; “Now burn with purpose both bright and true, green candle of abundance. May I be blessed in all that I do.”

While your flame continues to burn. Take and add the dollars, coins, bay leaves, cinnamon stick, and rice to the paper cornucopia. As you add each item thank it for the abundance it is about to bring to you. Once your cornucopia of abundance is overflowing hold it in your hands visualizing the energy of abundance and say: “This cornucopia is an ancient symbol of plenty. Now filled with coins, dollar bills, herbs connected to abundance, this spell will attract abundance swiftly to me! May this manifest in the most wanted possible way to bring healthy abundance to all of my days and in every way.”

Allow the candle to burn out in a safe place. Leave the cash, coins, bay leaves, cinnamon stick, and rice in the cornucopia for a full month. During this time, whenever you have an extra bill or loss change, add it to the cornucopia. This cornucopia will serve as your prosperity/abundance bowl for the month until the next new moon.

Candle Spell For Learning During Gemini New Moon

Do you want to strengthen your mind and be able to absorb knowledge better? This spells purpose is to do just that during a new moon in Gemini.

Lunar Magic; A Guide To Harness The Silvery, Illuminating Rays Of The Moon

The silvery rays and ever changing moon has captivated us since the dawn of time. We see this throughout antiquity with symbols, art, and countless myths and legends about the moon across the Earth. To this day it is still a central part to religious and spiritual beliefs and practices. It is a cornerstone to many pagans and witches worship, magic, and witchcraft as well. The powers of the moon are vast and varied across cultures and the earth. They range from being used for healing, love, prosperity, protection, fertility, death, rebirth, and more. In some cultures like in India a full moon for example it is thought to even be the time that ghosts come out to interact with the living. In antiquity some cultures even believed it to cause insanity. In modern times we have come to understand the moon to energetically affect us, the oceans, and the tides. As well as its ability to influence our emotions, psyche, and subconscious. In this guide let the light of this celestial body be illuminated to you. Like how to use its magic, the different phases, and its meanings throughout history.

What Is The Moon?

From lighting up our skies to maintaining a geological record of our solar system’s history, the moon is the Earth’s closest celestial neighbor. Earth’s Moon is the brightest and largest object in our night sky. The Moon makes Earth a more livable planet by moderating Earth’s tilting axis, leading to a relatively stable climate. It also causes tides, creating a rhythm that has guided humans for thousands of years. The origins of the moon are up for debate depending on who ask and where you look in history. If you ask NASA the Moon was likely formed after a Mars-sized body collided with Earth several billion years ago. But, again that is up for debate depending on what you believe and which myths and legends you read about the origins of the moon.

The Meanings Of The Moon In History

Over the centuries, the moon has been interpreted as a deity, and a planet, as well as a timekeeper and calendar. Different cultures have their own historical, cultural and religious relationships to the moon, so depending on where the artwork is presented, its meaning and interpretation will shift. For example in many if not most cultures, regions, and practices the moon will be deeply tied to the feminine energy, feminine aspects and even seen as a goddess. But keep in mind, though this is a very common thing to find among cultures it is not universal. There are cultures and belief systems who view the moon as masculine energy and as a God; like in the Japanese belief system of Shintoism and Ancient Sumer with the moon God Sin.

The moon had sway over just about every facet of our history, including scientific discovery, religion, climate, physiology, psychology and evolution. Its cycles of departure and return helped early humans grasp concepts such as “becoming, birth, vanishing, death, resurrection, renewal, and eternity.” They allowed us to expand our consciousness and our magic. Along with having us look to understand our place on this earth and in the cosmos.

The moon as a time keeper

The Moon has been Earth’s companion since the birth of the Solar System, 4.6 billion years ago. Ancient humans were captivated by the Moon’s cycles as it changed position, shape and vanished from the sky for part of its 28-day cycle. Stone age peoples recorded the phases of the Moon in various ways, as the observation of the Moon gave them a way to count the passage of days and predict the arrival of the seasons. Activities key to the development of human civilization like agriculture and hunting absolutely depended on reliable timekeeping, so all human societies developed ways to determine the length of the year.

Deities Of The Moon

With the moon and other celestial bodies there are certain themes, magic, and energies we have the ability to connect to them with, including deities. Everyone works with and views deity energy a little differently. Whether you view them as archetypes of the human consciousness, representations of the source energy, or as being entities on their own, there are certain deities that help you connect to and honor the illuminating and potent energy of the Moon in your life and magical practices. You can do this by invoking them through prayer, sigils, offerings and correspondences while doing lunar magic and ritual work. You can honor these deities during any of their sacred holidays and festivals or during potent lunar moon phases like the new or full moon phases as well. Let’s take a look at some of them below.

Artemis

Artemis, the Greek goddess of hunting and nature, was born as the daughter of Zeus and Leto. Artemis, was the twin sister of Apollo. Their mother, Leto, faced numerous struggles during her pregnancy, as she was relentlessly pursued by the jealous Hera. Artemis helped her mother give birth to her brother Apollo, earning her reputation as the goddess of childbirth. Artemis would establish herself as the revered goddess of hunting, protector of young girls, and a powerful force in Greek mythology. Associated with various spheres of influence, she protected young girls and women and favored the Trojans in the ancient Greek literature. Depictions of Artemis show her with sacred symbols like the bow and arrow, a quiver, and her sacred animal, the deer. Stories of her wrath, such as the myth of Artemis and Actaeon, highlight her powerful vengeance.

Artemis is widely recognized as the virgin goddess in Greek mythology, embodying chastity and purity. Revered for her unwavering dedication to remaining unmarried and abstaining from romantic relationships, she symbolizes the ideal of a self-sufficient and independent woman. As the goddess of the hunt and nature, Artemis was revered as a role model for young girls and women. Her commitment to virginity set her apart from other deities and granted her a unique status within the Greek pantheon. Worship of Artemis played a significant role in ancient Greek society with numerous temples and rituals dedicated to her.

Changxi Goddess

The Changxi Goddess, a prominent figure in Chinese mythology, holds the title of the lunar deity. Often confused with Chang’e, she is Di Jun’s second wife and the mother of the twelve lunar months, including Earth’s Moon. Legends tell of her stealing and devouring a herb of immortality from her husband, Hou Yi, also known as the Excellent Archer. As a result, she found protection under the moon, becoming the lunar goddess we know today. The Changxi Goddess, a prominent figure in Chinese mythology, holds the title of the lunar deity. Often confused with Chang’e, she is Di Jun’s second wife and the mother of the twelve lunar months, including Earth’s Moon. According to ancient Chinese mythology, Di Jun and Changxi are blessed with twelve children, each representing a lunar month. These lunar months are intricately linked to the Earth’s Moon and its phases, symbolizing the ever-changing nature of time and cycles. The legend between her and Hou Yi explain the reason for the separation of the moon and sun as well in Chinese mythology.

Selene

Selene the Greek goddess of the moon is a prominent figure in Greek mythology. As the daughter of the Titans Hyperion and Theia, she is revered during the phases of the Full Moon and New Moon. Depicted riding a horse or driving a chariot pulled by white horses, Selene is known for her associations with Zeus, Pan, and the mortal Endymion. Her influence can be seen in various artistic representations, including the famous sculpture in the Parthenon. Additionally, Selene’s worship involves rituals and festivals tied to the moon, emphasizing her connection to magic and sorcery. Her role as the personification of the moon is fascinating, encompassing various intriguing stories and connections with other gods and mortals.

Sin

Sin also called Nanna (or Suen) was a Sumerian/ Mesopotamian god who played a longstanding role in the Mesopotamian religion and mythology. He was the god of the moon, the son of the sky god Enlil and the grain goddess Ninlil.
Sin’s origin myth is a story of his father’s passion and his mother’s sacrificial love. The virgin Ninlil bathes in the sacred river, where she is seen by the “bright eye” of Enlil, who falls in love with her and seduces (or rapes) her. The assembly of the gods then banishes Enlil to the underworld for this transgression. Ninlil, knowing she is pregnant with the “bright seed of Sîn,” follows Enlil to the world of the dead. Once the moon god is born in the underworld, three additional deities are born to his parents, allowing Sin to take his place in the skies to light up the night. To learn more about him you can attend my free class with Divination on him on 6/23 here.

The Moon, Women, And Their Menstrual Cycles

Since, the moon is also commonly associated with the feminine energy of the universe. This means that the moon is often thought to be connected to women and femininity which includes having an effect on their menstrual cycle. For thousands of years, women have noticed their moon cycles (menstruation – the syllable men meaning moon/month) syncing up with the moon’s phases. This is lunar magic at its core. Just as the moon waxes and wanes, so too does the womb. There are even deeper connections to this including linking what moon phase a women menstruates on and their current life phase. We will go deeper into that on an upcoming blogpost though so keep an eye out. Or you can read my study guide from divination academy on the topic here.

Lunar AKA Moon Magic

The moon has been linked to various magical practices throughout history and cultures. One of these is called lunar magic or moon magic. Lunar magic involves using the phases of the moon to cast spells. Each phase of the moon like we will talk about below has it’s own unique energy and properties and using those energies and properties in our spells and rituals is what lunar magic is.

Phases Of The Moon

Some nights, at the time of the Full Moon, we admire its beauty and grandeur. Other nights, when it starts to fade, it becomes thin and inconspicuous, so different from the peak of its fullness and magical glory. The moon seems to grow and then fade over the period of one lunar cycle (one month). This growing, reaching its full potential, and then diminishing is referred to as moon phases. As mentioned before, lunar phases can be used to enhance magical workings by invoking various energies that align with different moon cycles. The ever-changing lunar cycles remind us of the cyclical nature of life itself. The Moon constantly passes through this cycle of growth and decline, and the phases of the Moon are different parts of this never-ending cycle.

Understanding each stage of the Moon cycle can help guide us on our journey of personal growth and development. They can help guide us on what magical spells and workings will aid us the most in our lives as well at the right time.

New Moon: when the moon begins its next cycle; magic includes new beginnings, new opportunities, wiping the slate clean and starting over “anew”, new friendships, new love, cleansing, fertility, any spell work that has to do with careers and businesses as well. I look at this phase as the most potent time to plant seeds of intentions and manifestation that you wish you bloom and grow. To learn much more about this phase you can read my blogpost on the topics here.
Waxing Moon: when the moon grows in size before reaching its fullest; magic involves “growing” things in your life including success, relationships, abundance, healing, love, beauty, money, etc.
Full Moon: to some one of the most powerful moon phases; moon is full size; magic includes love, healing, protection, intuition, dreams, connecting with the gods and ancestors, reaching your “fullest” potential, water magic, and divination. I look at this phase as the most potent time to release things unwanted things and obstacles. It is the time to anchor down into your goals, intentions and manifestations. To learn more about this moon phase and how to align with it specifically you can read my blogpost on the topic here.
Waning Moon: when the moon seems to fade or grow smaller; this lunar magic includes getting rid of or diminishing things like bad habits, illness, addiction, toxic relationships, and also includes releasing, banishing, and cleansing rituals
Dark Moon: The Dark Moon is the few days before a New Moon when the moon seems to be completely gone. I’ve found the dark moon is perfect for shadow work and to recall past lives. If you would like to learn more about shadow work you can purchase my eBook here; https://www.paypal.com/instantcommerce/checkout/2S3QJZ4UPDRG6 you can book me for a 1:1 session as your guide here; https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61555318986253 and you can watch my free class previously taught on it through Divination below! You can also register for my upcoming 6 week workshop series on Shadow work here;

Lunar Eclipses

So, what about a lunar eclipse? I want to take a moment to talk about them because if you go online especially on social media you will see countless warnings telling you not do any workings during a lunar eclipse including making moon water. They say its a time of bad omens, and a time that is too chaotic to harness and work with. I simply don’t agree with this. This may be because I am a grey witch. I just don’t see why we can’t work with a moon phase that is chaotic. The universe and all that exists within it sprouted from chaos or nothingness. This is common theme in belief systems, cultures, and stories across the Earth and time like in Mesopotamia with the goddess Tiamat. So, wouldn’t working with chaos like the lunar eclipse be a very primal and potent things for us humans to do? I think so. But, it will be up to you and what you decide for your own practices and beliefs.

Triple Goddess

Wiccans, and other pagans particularly neopagans associate the Triple Goddess with the moon’s phases: the maiden (waxing moon), the mother (full moon), and the crone (waning moon). We all go through these phases in our lives (both men and women) corresponding to our physical bodies: youth, adult years, and our elder years. And corresponding with our spiritual bodies: when we begin our journey, the middle of our journey and the end. Keep an eye out for my upcoming blogpost on this topic recapping my previously taught class.

The Moon And Duality

Since, I am a grey witch every single energy I work with I look for the duality in that energy and how I can connect to it. This includes the moon. The moon itself is all about duality as it is celestial body that is all about transformation, transition, and rebirth. With those energies we are pushed into a liminal space that forces us to look at the things, people, and places that have been obstacles holding us back or to be looking at the hope and abundance of all we could possibly bring into our life. This can be a thing of beauty and hope as well as a thing of pain and darkness which forces us into duality.

The Moon And Astrology

In astrology, the moon is a powerful planet that can influence a person’s emotions, personality, and experiences based on its position in their birth chart. The moon’s influence can be wanted or unwanted, depending on its position, aspects, and other elements. The Moon represents the personal self, the feelings and the unconscious. It is a reflection of the true self, represented by the Sun. The Moon also stands for security and instinctual or habitual patterns, as well as the ability to relate to others, and to be nurturing to others. The Moon represents the feminine and nurturing part of oneself in astrology as well. The Moon represents our deepest personal needs, our basic habits and reactions, and our unconscious. Where the Sun acts, the Moon reacts.

The areas the moon is said to represent in astrology are below:

Emotions: How a person reacts to things, what they need to feel safe and happy, and their emotional makeup
Instincts: What’s deep inside a person
Relationships: How a person connects with others, especially their relationship with their mothers or other maternal figures
Sentiments: What makes a person sentimental

In astrology, a moon sign is the position of the moon in the zodiac at the time of a person’s birth and it’s considered a key part of a person’s astrological profile. Below is a brief list of what each moon sign can mean and how it can affect you in your life and magic. To learn more you can watch this class series on Astrology with Divination Academy here.

How To Connect To And Work With the Moon

When working with the moon there are certain spells and rituals that will help connect you to this celestial body in the most effective way. Remember these are just some of the many ideas, follow your intuition and the energy of the phase the is currently in. You can find more ways to connect to the moon and more information on many of these forms of magic on my Pinterest page here and my Facebook here. Also keep in mind this list can be expanded so much further when you take into account the current zodiac sign the moon is in. To get more ideas based on that you can look through my blog for many different posts. This list is just some of the basic ways you can start doing lunar magic and working with the moon.

Moon Gazing

Many people don’t know where to start with lunar magic and working with the moon. I often hear they are overwhelmed by the different phases and their energies. My first suggestion is to go outside at night and identify the moon’s phase. Do this time and time again until you instinctively know what phase the moon is in. If you can’t see the moon or can’t get outside, you can also use a moon phase app on your phone (most are free to download). Or simply google it. One of my favorite things still this day to do with the moon is to sit in the silence under its rays and mindfully gaze at it. It has been said throughout cultures and history doing this practice called moon gazing connects you to the moon itself and allows you to take in the magical energies. This would be the first place I would start to help you understand how the energy of the moon affects you as if shifts through its cycle. Doing this will help your body and yourself become much more aware of how the moon affects you in each phase and how to harness its magic.

Make Moon Water

Another great way to connect to the moon is by collecting moon water! This practice is really honestly a staple when it comes to working with them moon. It’s fairly easy to do, and doesn’t require many tools in all reality all you needs is vessel preferably glass to hold water in. It’s a potent and powerful tool to add to your practice and your altar for many different purposes like spells, rituals, and offerings.

So, what is it? Moon water is simply water that has been exposed to the moonlight and charged with a Magical intention. The water will now embody the properties and energy of that moon phase and the astrological sign it was in so we can use it whenever we need it in our craft. This charged water becomes a tangible connection for you to have to the moon! You can use it on your altar, in spell workings, to connect to the archetype energy of the moon, and as an offering to a deity/ element/ or the moon itself. Moon water is highly beneficial for both your life and your witchy practice. To learn more about his practice and how to make moon water read about it here in my previous blogpost.

Attend a Moon Ceremony on the new and/or full moon

Another way you can connect with and work with the moon is by attending ceremonies, rituals, or meditations to honor the new and full moon. Though working with all the phases of the moon is ideal sometimes life can overwhelming or we simply don’t have the time to connect to each lunar phase that month. It’s alright to pick and chose which phases you can work with that lunar cycle and I would recommend for potency, meaning, and simplicity to work with the new and full moon. To make those a priority to observe. This should be really easy for you to do thankfully! If you go on google or Facebook you will find countless events even online for each new moon and full moon every month that you can attend live or watch replays of later. Plus I not only write about them I also host one you can attend too! You can always come and join me with Divination Academy where I host them for free here! This is one of the first things I recommend to my students on a magical path. Make it a point for one calendar year to observe and connect to every new and full moon and watch your life, emotions, and magic grow like never before.

Perform Simple Spells

Next, start with a simple moon ritual or spell. For example you could perform a cleansing bath on the waning or new moon. Add a few herbs to the water that correspond to the moon or crystals and use it to connect to the moon, your emotions, and for cleansing. On the Full Moon, perform a simple candle spell for protection or abundance. Lunar magic really isn’t that hard once you start to align with the phases of the moon and the energy of that phase. So, whenever you need to perform a spell, stop and take time to think about the moon phase it corresponds with and than cast your spell during that phase. It not only leads to more potent and wanted results but, also helps align you with the energy and ever changing phases of the moon.

Keep a moon journal

While your learning a new magic and even after as you continue to work with it. It always is a good idea to keep a journal of yours studies and experiences while working with that type of magic. Write about how each moon phase makes you feel and how it affects the people around you. Record any moon rituals or spells you do and the outcomes. Also, take note of any unusual dreams during certain moon phases or if you notice any increased paranormal activity. Another way you can journal with the moon phases is each new moon make sure to journal and reflect about the things you want manifested and bring into your life. While on the full moon you use that phase to journal about the things you need to release and reflect from your past or now to allow yourself to bring the things you want into your life.
