The Aquarius New Moon & Solar Eclipse: The Fire Horse Architect of the Future

The cosmic clock is striking a powerful chord on February 17th, 2026. This is no ordinary lunation; we are standing at the intersection of a Total Solar Eclipse, the Aquarius New Moon, and the electrifying arrival of the Lunar New Year: The Year of the Fire Horse. While our previous journey through the Snake year taught us the power of quiet transformation and shedding skins, the energy of 2026 is an explosion of heat, speed, and radical innovation. Aquarius, the 11th sign of the zodiac, is the visionary, the rebel, and the humanitarian. When the New Moon enters this air sign, it pushes us to step out of the “status quo” and into a future that we design ourselves.

This New Moon is a bold invitation to embrace your “weird,” your unique frequency, and your most revolutionary ideas. We are being asked to look at the collective and ask: How can I use my individual genius to help the world breathe again? With the added punch of an eclipse and the Fire Horse, the “go with the flow” energy of the past is being replaced by a “create the flow” mandate.

New Moon & Solar Eclipse: The Great Reset

Every month, the New Moon marks a beginning, but a Solar Eclipse (happening alongside this New Moon) is like a New Moon on cosmic steroids. Eclipses are “wild cards.” They act as sudden resets, often closing doors that were meant to be shut and blowing open windows of opportunity we didn’t even know existed.

In the dark of this New Moon, we aren’t just planting seeds; we are planting lightning bolts. The eclipse energy creates a “collapse of time,” where the intentions you set now can manifest with startling speed. This is a time to reflect, yes, but also a time to be incredibly precise. The universe is listening with a megaphone. Use this “void” to cleanse your energetic field of any lingering 2025 stagnation. Remember: an eclipse doesn’t just ask you to change; it often demands it.

The Solar Eclipse: Expect the Unexpected

A Total Solar Eclipse in the sign of the rebel (Aquarius) is like a cosmic “power surge.” The lights go out for a moment, and when they come back on, the room looks completely different. Because this is an Aquarius eclipse, the “resets” will likely happen in your social circles, your technology, and your long-term dreams.

My Master Rule for this Eclipse: Underschedule your Life. Eclipses are notorious for “fated” events—sudden endings or “lucky” breaks that feel like they came out of nowhere. If you have your day planned down to the minute, you won’t have room for the “Electric Surprise” the universe is trying to send you.

Do not try to manifest or “push” energy during the actual window of the eclipse. Instead, become a Stationary Observer. Watch who leaves your life. Watch what ideas suddenly feel “dead” to you. In the shadow of the eclipse, the truth is revealed without its “mask.” It is a time of The Great Severing. If something falls away tonight, let it go. The Fire Horse doesn’t look back at the dust it leaves behind; it only looks at the open road ahead.

The Year of the Fire Horse: 2026’s Wild Spirit

This New Moon marks the beginning of the Lunar New Year, and we are galloping out of the subtle, internal Year of the Snake and into the thunderous Year of the Fire Horse. In the Chinese Zodiac, the Fire Horse is a rare and legendary combination that occurs only once every 60 years.

The Fire Horse is characterized by unbridled passion, extreme independence, and a fierce “can-do” spirit. This is an “action” year. If the Snake was about planning and shedding, the Fire Horse is about the stampede toward freedom. * Dynamic Energy: Expect a year where things move fast. The Fire Horse doesn’t like to wait.

  • Social Revolution: Combined with Aquarius, this year is likely to see massive shifts in social justice, technology, and how we connect as a global community.
  • Personal Power: This is a year to be bold. The Fire Horse rewards those who are brave enough to lead and those who refuse to be tamed by outdated societal “rules.”

Who is the Water Bearer?

Aquarius is often mistaken for a water sign because of its symbol—the Water Bearer—but it is firmly an Air Sign. Aquarius represents the movement of Knowledge, Intellect, and Collective Consciousness. The Water Bearer is Ganymede, the youthful cupbearer to the gods. He pours out the “water” of wisdom and innovation to the parched lips of humanity. Aquarius is the scientist, the activist, and the eccentric aunt of the zodiac. It looks toward the horizon (the 11th house of hopes and dreams) and sees a world where equality and technology harmonize.

The Constellation of Aquarius: The Eagle and the Cupbearer

While we often focus on the Water Bearer pouring out wisdom, we cannot forget the “how” of the story. In Greek mythology, Ganymede—the most beautiful of mortals—didn’t walk to Mount Olympus; he was carried there in the talons of Zeus, disguised as a massive Eagle. This is the hidden “Air” medicine of Aquarius. It represents the Sudden Uplift. Just as the Eagle snatched Ganymede from his mundane life as a shepherd to serve the Gods, this New Moon and the Year of the Fire Horse act as our “Celestial Eagle.” They are here to pluck us out of our comfort zones and carry us to a higher perspective.

The Eagle represents the High Vision—the ability to see the entire landscape of your life from 30,000 feet. Combined with the Fire Horse, this is a call to rise above the petty dramas of the collective and look at the “Big Picture” of your evolution. Are you still herding sheep at the base of the mountain, or are you ready to fly? This month, the “Eagle” of the Eclipse may swoop down to change your life in an instant. Don’t fight the ascent. Trust the talons of change; they are carrying you to your rightful throne.

Themes for the Aquarius New Moon & Eclipse

This lunation is a electric invitation to step into a future defined by Radical Authenticity.

  • Innovation & Tech: Finding new solutions to old problems.
  • Collective Healing: Using your voice for those who have been silenced.
  • Rebellion with a Purpose: Breaking the rules that no longer serve the “greater good.”
  • Detached Logic: Being able to look at your life like a scientist to see what’s actually working.
  • The “Oddball” Factor: Celebrating the parts of you that don’t fit in.

What to be Cautious of

With the Fire Horse and an Eclipse in play, the shadow side is Impulsivity.

  • Arrogance: Avoid the “I know better than everyone” trap. True Aquarius energy is about collaboration, not a dictatorship.
  • Burnout: The Fire Horse energy is intense. If you try to sprint 24/7, you will crash. Grounding is your best friend this month.
  • Hastiness: Eclipses bring “fated” events. Try not to force a door open—if it’s meant for you, the Horse will carry you through it.
  • Emotional Detachment: Aquarius can sometimes be “all head and no heart.” Don’t forget to check in with your feelings while you’re busy saving the world.

Correspondences for the Aquarius New Moon

  • Planets: Uranus (Chaos/Change) and Saturn (Structure/Time).
  • Element: Air (The Breath of New Ideas).
  • Animals: The Horse (Strength/Speed), The Eagle (Vision), and the Phoenix (Rebirth from Fire).
  • Colors: Electric Blue, Silver, and Iridescent Violet.
  • Herbs/Flowers: Star Anise (for vision), Pine (for longevity), and Orchid (for uniqueness).
  • Stones: Amethyst, Moldavite (very potent for eclipses), Aquamarine, and Turquoise.
  • Deities: Prometheus (who brought fire to man), Athena (Wisdom), and The Fates (Eclipses).

How to Connect & Create Your Blueprint

  • The Future-Self Letter: Write a letter from yourself one year in the future. Describe the “Impossible” things you’ve achieved in the Year of the Fire Horse.
  • Tech-Magic: Use this time to clean your digital space. Delete old files, unfollow accounts that drain you, and “re-code” your social media to be a place of inspiration.
  • Fire & Ice Ritual: Light a gold candle (for the Horse/Sun) while sitting with a bowl of ice (for the winter dark). As the ice melts, visualize your old limitations dissolving into the heat of your new ambitions.
  • Astro-Travel Meditation: Join our DiviNation Academy LIVE for a journey into the “Hall of the Architect” to see your 2026 blueprints.
  • Community Service: In the spirit of Aquarius, do one thing for the collective. Donate, volunteer, or simply help a neighbor.

Shadow Work Questions for the Aquarius New Moon

  • The Saboteur’s Speed: Where am I rushing into “action” just to avoid the discomfort of being still with my own thoughts? Is my “Fire Horse” energy actually just anxiety in disguise?
  • The Eagle’s Eye: If I looked at my life from the Eagle’s perspective, which of my current “problems” would look like tiny, insignificant specks? What is the one thing that actually matters from up there?
  • The Rebellion Check: Am I rebelling against the “system” because I have a better vision, or am I just being contrary because I’m afraid of belonging to anything?
  • The Fated Exit: If the Eclipse were to remove one thing from my life tonight to make room for my 2026 legacy, what would I be most relieved to see go? (Be honest—the relief tells you it was a burden).
  • When do I hide my true self to “fit in” with the herd? What am I afraid will happen if I stand out?
  • Am I using my “independence” as an excuse to avoid intimacy or vulnerability?
  • What “status quo” in my personal life is actually a cage I built for myself?
  • If I weren’t afraid of being called “crazy,” what would I start creating today?
  • How can I balance my personal fire (Fire Horse) with my service to others (Aquarius)?

The Invocation of the Fire Horse

This is meant to be spoken with strength and pace. It is a call to action to welcome the first day of the Lunar New Year (February 17th).

“I stand at the threshold of the Great Gallop. I summon the spirit of the Fire Horse—the untamed flame, the swift wind, the heartbeat of the Sun. You who move through the world with speed and sovereignty, ignite my blood with your courage. I release the slow skin of the Snake; I shed the silence of the winter frost. I claim my place in the stampede of the new age.

Burn away my hesitation. Melt the chains of my ‘shoulds.’ Carry me across the horizon of the impossible. I am bold. I am independent. I am the driver of my own destiny. Under the shadow of the Eclipse and the light of the Fire, I run with the Horse toward a future I have chosen. The race is on, and I am already winning. And so it is”

The Aquarius Eclipse: “The Great Severing” Release

Because this is a Solar Eclipse in Aquarius, the focus is on breaking collective conditioning and “fated” endings. Use this during your ritual to clear space before setting Horse-year intentions.

The Practice:

  1. The Visualization: Close your eyes and see yourself connected to a massive web—the “Collective Mind.” Notice the silver threads connecting you to old roles, outdated friend groups, or societal expectations that feel like heavy “roles” you have to play.
  2. The Severing: Imagine the Moon moving in front of the Sun, creating a “ring of fire” (the Annular Eclipse). Use that ring of fire as a cosmic blade.
  3. The Words: Speak these aloud as you visualize the threads being cut:

“In the shadow of the Sun, I see the truth. I sever the threads of obligation that no longer feed my soul. I release the role of the ‘People Pleaser.’ I release the mask of ‘Fitting In.’ I break the karmic loops of my ancestors that have kept me small. As the light dims, the old script dissolves. I am no longer a character in someone else’s story. I am the Architect. I am the Outsider. I am Free.”

  1. The Grounding: After the “cut,” place your hands on the floor. Imagine the excess “electric” energy of the Eclipse draining into the earth so you don’t “crash out” from the intensity.

Final Thoughts

The Aquarius New Moon and Total Solar Eclipse is a portal. As we enter the Year of the Fire Horse, the universe is handing you the keys to the kingdom of the future. The old skins are gone; the rubble is cleared. Now, with the speed of the horse and the vision of the water-bearer, it is time to build a reality that reflects your highest truth.

The mountain is behind us; the horizon is before us. Will you gallop into the light?

Frozen Wildfire: Igniting Your Authentic Truth Amidst the 2026 Leo Snow Full Moon

The February full moon of 2026 roars into the skies with a fiery burst of passion to ignite our hearts’ desires amidst the frozen winter landscape. We find this full moon under the sign of Leo on February 1st. Despite the nickname for February being the Snow Moon, this lunation is sure to bring the heat as it radiates Leo energy and shines a bright flame on our true “heart’s desires.”

This Full Snow Moon in February 2026 strips everything down to bare bones. It forces us to see reality with harsh, cold clarity while simultaneously gifting us a burst of fiery hope for the coming spring. When the moon is in Leo, you are invited to celebrate your wins and let go of the “hiding” that keeps your light dimmed. Leo is about creative self-expression, leadership, and the courage to be seen. Come join me on a frozen winter walk under the fiery full moon light as the Lion roars into the 2026 skies.

The Snow Moon: Resilience in the Stillness

During February, we experience the deepest freeze of winter. Living in Minnesota, I’ve learned you never judge a winter until you’ve survived February. Historically, this was the “Hungry Month”—resources were low, and the snow determined your survival. This is why it is called the Snow Moon.

The Snow Moon is relentless. It asks: How bad do you want it? It forces you to look into the unyielding white of the ice with harsh clarity. But this year, Leo adds a layer of internal warmth. Use this time of stillness to your advantage. Strengthen your spirit for the “thaw” ahead. The best plans take shape in these quiet, clear, and still moments.

Ancient Names for this Moon:

  • Hungry Month (Kagali) – Cherokee
  • Storm Moon or Ice Moon – Celtic
  • Moon of Purification and Renewal – Hopi
  • Bald Eagle Moon – Cree
  • Bear Moon – Ojibwe

Who is Leo? The Radiant Sovereign

So who is Leo? As the fifth sign of the zodiac ruled by the sun, Leo is the Zodiac sign shining a spotlight on your life with bold roaring, radiant, and confident energy. Leo is all about stepping into the spotlight and owning your own power. Claiming what is yours with courage, bravery, and conviction. Being ruled by the fifth house Leo connects you to what makes you feel good, such as attention, orgasms, or the fulfillment of a creative project. It’s the sign that shines a bright light on your inner talents, your leadership abilities, and the courage you have to playfully create.

The Leo Constellation

The Leo constellation sits between Cancer the crab to the west and Virgo the maiden to the east. It is located south of the Big Dipper. It is one of the brightest constellations located in the Northern celestial hemisphere. This may be due to the fact that one of the brightest stars in the night sky sits in the heart of this constellation; Regulus. What’s unique about the Leo constellation is it contains many bright stars, many of which were individually identified by the ancients. It’s also one of the few constellations that is visible from pretty much anywhere on Earth, except for Antarctica.

Leo is one of the oldest known and recognized constellations in the sky with many different myths surrounding it. Archaeological evidence suggests that Mesopotamians had a constellation similar to Leo as early as 4000 BC. The Persians knew the constellation as Shir or Ser, Babylonians called it UR.GU.LA (“the great lion”), Syrians knew it as Aryo, and the Turks as Artan. In Sumeria, Leo may have represented the monster Humbaba, who was killed by Gilgamesh. The ancient Egyptians associated Leo with the flooding of the Nile, which occurred during the hottest time of year, when the sun entered Leo. Maybe that’s why the sphinx overlooks the Nile and is half lion?

The most commonly known myth about it’s placement among the stars would have to come from the Greeks. The Greeks associated Leo with the Nemean lion, the beast defeated by Heracles during the first of his twelve labors. Man Hercules is responsible for quite a few constellations being placed in the sky. Anyway, the Nemean lion lived in a cave in Nemea, a town located to the south-west of Corinth. It was terrorizing the local people who could not defeat it because, of it’s impenetrable skin. Heracles could not defeat the lion with arrows, so he trapped it in its cave, grappled with the beast and eventually defeated it by strangling it with his bare hands. He used the lion’s claws to cut off its pelt, and then wore the pelt as a cloak, complete with the lion’s head. From that day forward Hercules wore the pelt as his armor. The cloak both protected Heracles and made him appear even more fearsome. Leo was placed in the sky by Zeus as a reminder of Hercules’ heroism and bravery.

There is another Greek myth about this constellation though, which may be the inspiration for Romeo and Juliet. The poet Ovid’s tale of Pyramus and Thisbe. Both sets of parents of this young couple considered them too young to marry and stopped them seeing each other. However, the pair made arrangements to meet secretly by a mulberry tree with white berries. When Thisbe arrived at the appointed place, a lion sprang out from some bushes and she ran away in fright. Unfortunately, her veil fluttered to the ground as she ran and the lion, bloody from its latest kill, pounced on it. A short time later Pyramus arrived, saw his beloved’s bloody veil and believed that she had been killed. Totally distraught, and unable to face life without her, he threw himself on his sword. As he lay dying, Thisbe returned, took his sword and killed herself. The blood of the tragic pair colored the berries of the mulberry tree red, and so they remain to this day. Some suggest that Zeus placed Thisbe’s veil in the heavens as Coma Berenices.

2026 Cosmic Energies: Uranus, Chiron, and the Fire Horse

Uranus & the Winds of Awakening

Uranus is active during this Full Moon, bringing surprises and “eureka” moments. As the planet of awakening, it might shake the ground beneath you. Ask yourself: How am I being called to break free from old, rigid versions of myself?

Chiron the Wounded Healer

Chiron reminds us that our wounds don’t disqualify us from leadership; they make us compassionate leaders. If old pains surface under this bright moon, know that Leo’s fire is here to cauterize and heal, not just to burn.

The Transition: From Snake to Fire Horse

We are currently in the final stretch of the Year of the Snake, preparing to gallop into the Year of the Fire Horse later this month. This Full Moon acts as the bridge. The wisdom and shedding of the Snake are meeting the wild, fiery independence of the Horse. It is a potent time for transition!

From Duality to Sovereignty: The Free Witch

In the past, I identified as a Grey Witch, focusing heavily on the duality of light and dark. But as I have evolved into a Free Witch, my perspective has shifted toward sovereignty and liberation.

Being a Free Witch means I am no longer bound by the “shoulds” of tradition or the rigid binary of “this or that.” I work with the energy that is present, authentically and without apology.

  • Leo & the Free Witch: Leo is the ultimate archetype of sovereignty. As a Free Witch, I use this Leo Full Moon to celebrate my own unique magic—magic that doesn’t need to be labeled or validated by anyone else.
  • Authenticity over Performance: While Leo loves a spotlight, the Free Witch uses that light to see their own truth clearly, rather than performing for an audience. This moon is about the freedom to roar your truth, even if it changes tomorrow.

What to be cautious of this Leo full moon

During the Full Moon in Leo, it’s important to avoid impulsivity, getting swept up in drama, or seeking excessive validation from others. Leo energy can be intense, and it can burn bright and hot as hell at times, just like the sun whole rules this sign. It is vital to take the time to balance it and not let it burn too hot, by staying grounded and focused on your authentic self. Be mindful of not letting your pride get the better of you and being overly focused on your own achievements or image. Tapping into Leo’s fire to ignite our self confidence is something our soul needs but, don’t let your fire get so hot and bright that you burn others around you. Avoid the temptation to act out of ego or let others’ opinions steer your path. Be open to constructive criticism and don’t dismiss feedback as personal attacks. Control the fire of Leo burning around you and keep it’s focus on self-love, playfulness, and creative empowerment.

Final Thoughts

As the silvery light of this Leo Snow Moon spills across the frozen landscape, remember that it offers more than just a moment of reflection—it offers a divine opportunity for Sovereignty. This isn’t just about self-love; it’s about Authentic Liberation. In the past, we may have looked for the balance between the light and the dark, but as a Free Witch, you are now invited to realize that you are the fire that creates the light in the first place.

The Leo Full Moon acts as a celestial spotlight, illuminating anything that dims your unique vibration. It helps you identify the thoughts, words, and outdated traditions that have been acting as heavy weights on your spirit. If you feel like your light has been muffled by the “shoulds” of the world, this is the lunation where you burn those contracts. Use this fiery energy to align not just with your potential, but with your current power.

But don’t ignore the bite of the Snow Moon. The fire of Leo doesn’t exist in a vacuum; it is burning in the heart of winter. This moon brings a gift of harsh, cold clarity. It allows you to see the reality of your life without the fog of wishful thinking. While Leo wants to play and create, the Snow Moon asks: “What is sturdy enough to survive the freeze?” Take this time to look at your relationships, your goals, and your magical practice with a clear eye.

  • Where have you been performing instead of living?
  • Where has your fire been used to keep others warm while you shivered in the cold?
  • What parts of your “Free Witch” path are calling for you to take up more space?

As we stand on the bridge between the shedding wisdom of the Snake and the wild, unbridled spirit of the Fire Horse, let this moon be your initiation. Let the cold clarify your vision and the fire fuel your voice. The Snow Moon in Leo doesn’t just help you survive the winter; it empowers you to command it.

Clear away the old. Burn away the false. Roar your truth into the stillness of the night. You are free, you are sovereign, and your light is unquenchable.

2026 Zodiac Forecast: The Great Stampede of the Fire Horse

The thundering hooves of the Fire Horse are no longer a distant echo—they are here, shaking the very foundations of our lives. If 2025 was the year of the silent, strategic crawl, 2026 is the year we break the sound barrier. As a free Witch, I know that when the element of Fire meets the spirit of the Horse, we aren’t just looking at “luck”—we are looking at a wildfire of raw, sovereign power.

Below is an extensive, deep-dive forecast for every sign. We are looking at how this double-dose of Fire energy will manifest in your career, your magic, and your shadow side. Find your birth year and prepare to ride.

The Rat (1948, 1960, 1972, 1984, 1996, 2008, 2020)

The Vibe: The Challenge of Visibility. The Rat and the Horse sit directly opposite each other on the Great Race wheel. In astrology, this is a direct confrontation. You prefer the shadows, the “inner sanctum,” and the quiet hoard. The Fire Horse, however, is a celestial spotlight.

  • The Gallop: This year forces you out of your comfort zone in a way that can lead to massive public recognition. If you’ve been working on a “secret” project, the universe is going to rip the veil off. Use this visibility to your advantage. It’s time to stop being the power behind the throne and actually sit on it.
  • The Kick: Because this is a “clash” year, you may feel restless or agitated. The Horse’s speed feels like chaos to your organized mind. Watch out for legal disputes or public misunderstandings. Do not try to out-manipulate the Horse; it will only result in burned bridges.
  • Witchy Work: Your magic this year should focus on Invisibility and Shielding. When the light gets too bright, use Black Tourmaline or Smoky Quartz to create a “cloak” so you can work in peace.

The Ox (1949, 1961, 1973, 1985, 1997, 2009, 2021)

The Vibe: Breaking the Plow. You are the sign of the slow, steady harvest. But the Fire Horse doesn’t care about your 10-year plan. It wants results now. 2026 will feel like someone hitched your plow to a Ferrari.

  • The Gallop: This is the year to automate and accelerate. If you’ve been doing things the “hard way” out of tradition, the Horse will show you a shortcut. Financial gains can come rapidly if you are willing to pivot. Your stamina combined with the Horse’s speed makes you a powerhouse in the workplace.
  • The Kick: Your biggest shadow this year is stubbornness. If you dig your heels in against the Fire Horse, you’re going to get dragged. This energy can manifest as physical burnout or neck/shoulder tension. Learn to let go of the “weight” you think you have to carry.
  • Witchy Work: Work with Tiger’s Eye and Hematite. You need to stay grounded so you don’t lose your footing, but you also need the “eye” to see the opportunities flying past you.

The Tiger (1950, 1962, 1974, 1986, 1998, 2010, 2022)

The Vibe: The Apex Alliance. The Tiger and Horse are part of the same “Triple Harmony” triad. You speak the same language of passion, courage, and intensity. This is your playground.

  • The Gallop: 2026 is one of your most auspicious years in a decade. Promotion, fame, and creative breakthroughs are yours for the taking. The “Fire” element feeds your natural drive, making you feel more “yourself” than you have in years. It’s a spectacular time for travel and expanding your territory.
  • The Kick: The danger for you is “over-heating.” With so much Fire energy, your temper might become a lethal weapon. You might find yourself picking fights just to feel the rush of the win. Don’t burn down a forest just because you wanted to see a spark.
  • Witchy Work: Carnelian is your power stone this year. Use it in “Command and Compel” spells to ensure that when you roar, the right people listen.

The Rabbit (1951, 1963, 1975, 1987, 1999, 2011, 2023)

The Vibe: Protecting the Sanctuary. After the intensity of the Dragon and the Snake, you were probably hoping for a nap. The Fire Horse, however, is throwing a party right outside your burrow.

  • The Gallop: This year brings a boost to your social life. You may find yourself invited to high-profile events or finding a “herd” of like-minded souls. If you work in a creative field, the Horse gives your delicate ideas the “legs” they need to reach a wider audience.
  • The Kick: The “Double Fire” can be emotionally dehydrating for the sensitive Rabbit. You might feel overwhelmed by the “hustle culture” of 2026. There is a risk of making impulsive financial decisions to keep up with others. Stay in your own lane.
  • Witchy Work: Focus on Hearth and Home protection. Use Rose Quartz and Blue Lace Agate to keep your internal temperature cool. Enchant your front door to keep the “noise” of the world outside.

The Dragon (1952, 1964, 1976, 1988, 2000, 2012, 2024)

The Vibe: Scaling the Heights. Dragons and Horses share a mutual respect for power. While the Snake year was about your internal transformation, 2026 is about your external kingdom.

  • The Gallop: You are a creature of the sun, and the Fire Horse is essentially a solar event. This year is excellent for making money and gaining authority. If you have been waiting to launch a business or a “public persona,” the winds are in your favor. Your charisma is at an all-time high.
  • The Kick: The shadow side is arrogance. The Horse is a “Yang” animal, and so are you. This can lead to “clashing heads” with authority figures. Remember that even a Dragon needs allies. Don’t alienate the people who helped you get to the top.
  • Witchy Work: Citrine and Pyrite are your best friends. Perform Abundance Rituals on Sundays to maximize the solar/fire alignment of the year.

The Snake (1953, 1965, 1977, 1989, 2001, 2013, 2025)

The Vibe: Emerging from the Den. You just spent 2025 in the center of the storm. You’ve shed your old skin, and now you’re stepping into the bright, hot sun of the Horse. It’s a bit of a shock to the system.

  • The Gallop: You have the wisdom that the Horse lacks. While everyone else is running in circles, you know exactly where the finish line is. This is a year where you can act as the “Mastermind.” People will seek your counsel because you can see through the smoke that the Fire Horse creates.
  • The Kick: You might feel physically drained. The high-vibration energy of the Horse is the opposite of your cool, calculated nature. Watch out for “burnout” by February. You need to pace yourself; don’t try to sprint if you’re still hardening your new skin.
  • Witchy Work: Use Labradorite to help you bridge the gap between your world and the Horse’s world. Perform Glamour Magic to control how people see your new “skin” this year.

The Horse (1954, 1966, 1978, 1990, 2002, 2014, 2026)

The Vibe: The Year of the Mirror. This is your Ben Ming Nian. Contrary to popular belief, your own year is often a challenge because the energy is “too much” of a good thing. It’s like standing in a room full of mirrors—every move you make is amplified.

  • The Gallop: You are the main character. You have an incredible amount of energy and “luck” on your side, but it is raw and untamed. You will feel a massive urge to change everything—your job, your hair, your home. Some of these changes will be the best things you’ve ever done.
  • The Kick: Impulsivity is your enemy. In your own year, the “Tai Sui” (Year God) is watching you closely. Offending him happens when you become too boastful or reckless. Wear red every single day (even just red socks!) to deflect negative attention.
  • Witchy Work: Red Jasper is your anchor. You need grounding magic more than anyone else. Perform Ancestral Veneration rituals to keep your “roots” strong while your head is in the clouds.

The Goat (1955, 1967, 1979, 1991, 2003, 2015, 2027)

The Vibe: The Creative Spark. The Goat and the Horse are “Secret Friends.” This is a year of deep support and harmony for you. While the Horse runs the race, you are the one designing the trophy.

  • The Gallop: This is one of the best years for your love life and artistic pursuits. The Fire element ignites your imagination. If you’ve been feeling “stale,” 2026 will bring a flood of new ideas and passionate connections. It’s a year of “favors”—ask and you shall receive.
  • The Kick: Because things come easily this year, you might get lazy. The Horse’s speed can also make you feel anxious if you aren’t “producing” enough. Don’t let the pressure to be productive ruin your creative flow.
  • Witchy Work: Amethyst and Moonstone. You are the “Yin” to the Horse’s “Yang.” Use your magic to turn the Horse’s heat into spiritual enlightenment and beautiful art.

The Monkey (1956, 1968, 1980, 1992, 2004, 2016, 2028)

The Vibe: The Master of Ceremonies. You love chaos, and the Fire Horse is a beautiful kind of chaos. You are quick enough to keep up and clever enough to profit from it.

  • The Gallop: This is a year of “Double Success.” You have the intellectual agility to solve the problems that the Horse’s speed creates. Expect career jumps and sudden windfalls. You’ll likely find yourself traveling for “business and pleasure” combined.
  • The Kick: Your shadow side is being too “tricky.” The Fire Horse is an honest, blunt animal. If you try to play too many sides or get too caught up in gossip, it will backfire (the “Fire” part of the year is literal here).
  • Witchy Work: Use Clear Quartz to keep your mind from fracturing into too many directions. Perform Success Spells involving movement, like “Shoe Magic” or “Wheel” symbols.

The Rooster (1957, 1969, 1981, 1993, 2005, 2017, 2029)

The Vibe: Polishing the Crown. You and the Horse both love to be admired. In 2026, the world is looking at you, so make sure you’re wearing your best “feathers.”

  • The Gallop: This is a “Visibility” year. If you’ve wanted to grow your social media, speak on stages, or get a promotion, 2026 provides the stage. Your hard work from the Snake year finally pays off in a very public way.
  • The Kick: The Fire element can make you hyper-critical. You might find yourself “pecking” at others or yourself. Also, watch your health—specifically your heart and blood pressure. The “heat” of the year can cause inflammation.
  • Witchy Work: Sunstone and Amber. Work with Solar Magic. Set your intentions at sunrise to harness the “waking up” energy of the Horse.

The Dog (1958, 1970, 1982, 1994, 2006, 2018, 2030)

The Vibe: The Loyal Commander. You, the Tiger, and the Horse are the “Three Harmony” group. You are the Horse’s most loyal ally, and this year feels like a homecoming for your spirit.

  • The Gallop: This is a year of protection and justice. You will find yourself in leadership positions where you can help others. Your intuition is razor-sharp. It’s an excellent year for home life, real estate, and strengthening long-term bonds.
  • The Kick: You might become too “vigilant.” The Fire Horse energy can make you paranoid about threats that aren’t there. Don’t let your “bark” turn into a “bite” toward the people you love.
  • Witchy Work: Lapis Lazuli and Sodalite. Focus on Truth Magic and Justice Spells. Your voice carries more weight this year—use it wisely.

The Pig (1959, 1971, 1983, 1995, 2007, 2019, 2031)

The Vibe: The Golden Feast. You know how to enjoy life, and the Year of the Horse is one long festival. You are the “beneficiary” of this year’s speed.

  • The Gallop: Wealth and comfort are highlighted. While everyone else is racing, you are the one hosting the after-party. Unexpected gifts, inheritance, or bonuses are likely. It’s a year of “easy flow”—don’t overthink it, just enjoy it.
  • The Kick: The danger is overindulgence. “Double Fire” can lead to “fiery” health issues (heartburn, fever, rashes). Also, the Horse’s restlessness might make you feel a bit insecure about your own pace. It’s okay to trot while others gallop.
  • Witchy Work: Jade is your primary stone for 2026. Use it to keep your luck grounded in reality. Perform Gratitude Rituals to keep the abundance flowing.

Final Thoughts for the 2026 Herd

The Final Word: Reclaiming Your Sovereignty

The Fire Horse is a ride, not a destination. Whether you are leading the pack or following from the back, remember that this energy is meant to set you free. In our practice as witches, we often spend so much time “preparing” for the shift that we forget to actually live within it. The Fire Horse doesn’t care about your five-year plan or your perfectly curated aesthetic; it cares about the raw, beating heart of your desire. It is a primal, thundering force that reminds us we were never meant to be tethered to expectations, stagnant jobs, or the heavy “shoulds” of other people.

If 2025 was the year we learned to hide and survive, 2026 is the year we learn to run and thrive. This isn’t just about moving fast—it’s about moving toward alignment. The “Fire” in this year is the Great Purifier; it will burn away the dead wood in your life so that only the strongest, most authentic parts of you remain. If a door slams shut this year, don’t try to pick the lock. Let it burn. The Horse has already found a new path through the open field.

Freedom is often terrifying because it requires us to take the reins of our own destiny. It demands that we stop asking for permission to be powerful. This year, if you feel the heat rising, don’t shy away. Use it. Let the Fire Horse carry you past your fears, past your trauma, and straight into a version of yourself that is completely unbridled and unapologetically alive. The horizon is wide, the spirit is willing, and the gate is wide open.

Ride the flame, or get out of the way.

The Capricorn New Moon: The Architect of Destiny and the Sacred Mountain

The first New Moon of the year arrives on Sunday, January 18, 2026, in the steadfast and ambitious sign of Capricorn. While the recent Wolf Moon had us looking inward at our emotional foundations, this New Moon shifts our gaze toward the horizon of our greatest ambitions. As the first lunar seeding point of 2026, this is the moment we stop dreaming about the future and start building the scaffolding to reach it.

This lunation activates the energy of the cardinal earth sign, Capricorn, bringing a grounding focus to themes of integrity, discipline, legacy, and long-term mastery. New Moons are a time of initiation and quiet planting; this one asks us to identify the “Mountain” we intend to climb this year and to commit to the steady, patient work required to reach the summit.

Let this Capricorn New Moon guide you to become the architect of your own destiny, honoring the wisdom of time and the power of a disciplined spirit as you lay the first stones of your 2026 legacy.

New Moon: The Silent Seed and the Void

Every month, the New Moon marks the beginning of a fresh lunar cycle, a time when the moon sits in darkness, invisible to the eye. This phase represents the void, the fertile soil, and the moment of pure potential. It is a sacred time for inward reflection and intention-setting, where the seeds we plant in the darkness of our spirit will eventually bloom under the light of the following full moon.

The New Moon is a call to begin again. It is the breath before the word, the stillness before the movement. Because this is the first New Moon of the calendar year, it carries the unique weight of “The Great Beginning.” It is the energetic launchpad for your entire 2026 timeline, urging you to get serious about your intentions and to ensure they are built on a foundation of truth rather than fleeting desire.

Capricorn: The Sign of the Mountain and the Mastery

Each new moon takes on the characteristics of the zodiac sign it inhabits. Capricorn, the tenth sign of the zodiac, is ruled by Saturn, the planet of time, karma, and structure. Symbolized by the Sea-Goat—a creature with the tail of a fish to navigate deep emotional waters and the hooves of a goat to scale the highest peaks—Capricorn embodies the duality of spiritual depth and material mastery.

As a cardinal earth sign, Capricorn is the initiator of tangible results. It doesn’t just want to talk about goals; it wants to see the blueprint, the budget, and the schedule. This sign governs the Tenth House of career, public reputation, and legacy, urging us to take responsibility for our lives and to act with the authority of someone who knows their worth and their purpose.

The Capricorn Constellation

In Greek mythology, Capricorn is linked to the god Pan, who is often depicted as partially goat-like. Pan is said to have the upper body of a human and the lower body of a goat. In one story, Pan dived into a river to escape the monster Typhon, but only transformed part of himself, becoming half goat and half fish. Zeus was amused by this and placed the image among the stars as the constellation Capricornus. The constellation is also sometimes associated with Amalthea, the goat that nursed Zeus after his mother saved him from his father, Cronos. Amalthea’s broken horn was transformed into the cornucopia, or “horn of plenty”.

Capricorn the mythical Seagoat

Capricorns are symbolized by the sea goat, a mythological creature with the body of a goat and tail of a fish. We often think of Capricorns as high achievers or business-oriented workhorses. This speaks to the goat aspect of their sea-goat symbol. Goats are scrappy, and some of them are capable of climbing to great heights. The fishtail portion of the sea-goat, on the other hand, holds the ocean and the vast, almost spiritual world that lies beneath it. This imagery speaks to Capricorn’s ability to navigate both the material and emotional realms. It’s the job of the Capricorn to strike a balance between these two realms of earthly achievements and spiritual truth.

The First New Moon of 2026: The Master Builder

The January New Moon is often called the “Initiator’s Moon.” Coming directly after the emotional release of the Wolf Moon, it serves as the cosmic “Monday morning” of the year. This name reminds us that true magic requires structure. While inspiration gets us started, it is the Capricornian qualities of persistence and discipline that actually bring our visions into physical reality.

The significance of this being the first New Moon of the year cannot be overstated. It acts as a Master Blueprint for the months to come. This is the moment to look at your New Year’s resolutions and strip away the ones that were made out of guilt or social pressure. Capricorn demands Integrity—only plant what you are actually willing to water, weed, and wait for. This is the moon for those ready to play the “Long Game” and build a life that lasts.

Themes of the Capricorn New Moon

This lunation brings the essential themes of discipline, authority, and legacy to the forefront, urging us to take command of our path with the maturity of a true master. Under this dark moon, we are invited to stop waiting for permission and to start acting as the primary authority in our own lives.

  • Radical Responsibility: This moon demands that we stop looking outward for excuses and start looking inward for solutions. Radical responsibility is the act of fully owning your current circumstances—even the ones that feel unfair—and realizing that you possess the sovereign power to change them through disciplined, consistent action. It is about shifting from a passive participant to the conscious creator of your reality, acknowledging that every choice you make today is a brick in the wall of your tomorrow.
  • Long-Term Strategy: Capricorn energy is the antithesis of the “quick fix.” This New Moon encourages us to lift our eyes from the immediate distractions of the day and shift our focus from “instant gratification” to “sustainable success.” It asks the piercing question: What will matter to you five years from now? By planning with a decade in mind rather than just a week, you align yourself with the slow, unstoppable power of the mountain, ensuring that the seeds you plant now have the root system necessary to weather any storm.
  • Boundaries as Power: In the realm of the Sea-Goat, a boundary is not a wall to keep people out, but a container to keep your magic in. This lunation teaches us to use the word “no” as a sacred tool of preservation, protecting our time, focus, and energy for the specific tasks that serve our ultimate summit. By setting firm limits on what (and who) gets access to your spirit, you create the quiet, concentrated environment required for true greatness to grow.
  • Integrity and Mastery: This is a call to move beyond “good enough” and strive for genuine excellence. Mastery is the result of honing your craft when no one is watching and ensuring that your external actions align perfectly with your internal values. This New Moon asks you to check the foundation of your intentions: are you building something that reflects your soul’s truth, or just something that looks good from the outside? True Capricorn mastery is found when your public reputation is a mirror of your private integrity.

What to Be Cautious Of

While Capricorn energy is incredibly productive, its shadow side can lead to coldness, perfectionism, or a “work-at-all-costs” mentality. Be wary of falling into the trap of Self-Criticism, where you judge your progress so harshly that you lose the joy in the journey. There is also a risk of Rigidity, where you become so focused on your “plan” that you stop listening to your intuition or the needs of your body. Lastly, beware of Status Obsession; ensuring your goals are born from your soul’s purpose rather than a desire to impress others or satisfy a “should.”

Shadow Work Questions

Use these prompts to journey into the darker, hidden corners of your ambition. Capricorn’s light is often sober and honest; use this moon to peel back the layers of your “public mask” and see what is truly driving your climb.

  • The Fear of the Summit: Where am I intentionally playing “small” or self-sabotaging because I am actually afraid of the weight of responsibility that comes with true success? Sometimes, we stay at the base of the mountain not because we lack the skill to climb, but because we aren’t sure we want to be the person who has to maintain the peak. Reflect on whether your “failures” are actually subconscious attempts to stay safe and hidden.
  • Decaying Structures: What “old structures,” outdated beliefs, or repetitive habits in my daily life am I still clinging to that actually block my ascent? We often try to build new lives on top of old, crumbling foundations. Identify the specific routines, relationships, or mental loops that have become too heavy to carry upward. What must be demolished so that a stronger scaffolding can be built?
  • The Wrong Mountain: Am I exhausting myself climbing a mountain that actually belongs to me, or am I trying to reach a summit that someone else—a parent, a partner, or society—chose for me? It is a tragedy to reach the top only to realize you don’t like the view. Dig deep into your motivations: Is your “ambition” fueled by your soul’s calling, or a desperate need for external validation and “status”?
  • The Chronos Connection: How can I cultivate a relationship with “Time” (ruled by Saturn/Chronos) that feels like a sacred partnership rather than a frantic race or a heavy burden? Many of us view time as an enemy to be beaten. Reflect on how you can shift into “deep time”—the understanding that things take exactly as long as they need to. Where are you rushing, and what would happen if you trusted the timing of your own evolution?
  • The Definition of Mastery: What does “Mastery” truly look like in my life, and what is the very first, smallest, most practical step I can take toward it today? Mastery is not a destination; it is a devotion to the process. Strip away the grand fantasies and look at the raw data of your life. What is one tiny, disciplined action you can commit to daily that will move the needle toward your legacy?

The Master Builder’s Prayer: An Invocation for Integrity

Beneath the first New Moon of 2026, I stand on the bedrock of my own potential.

I call upon the energy of the Architect and the wisdom of the Earth to guide my hand as I draft the blueprint for my year. I release the need for instant results and embrace the beauty of the long, steady climb. I honor the lessons of the past and the time it takes for greatness to take root.

I claim my authority. I claim my discipline. I claim my right to build a life that stands the test of time. May my boundaries be firm, my integrity be unshakable, and my spirit be as resilient as the mountain. I plant my intentions in this fertile darkness, knowing that with every patient step, I am already arriving.

And so it is.

Blueprint for Success Ritual

This ritual is designed to help you transition from the “dreaming” phase of the New Year into the “building” phase. It uses the element of Earth to solidify your intentions into the physical world.

Timing: Best performed on the night of January 18th, or within 48 hours of the New Moon. Tools Needed:

  • A piece of high-quality paper or cardstock.
  • A black pen (representing Saturn/Authority).
  • A small stone, rock, or crystal (Onyx, Obsidian, or even a pebble from your yard).
  • A single candle (Green for growth, Brown for grounding, or Black for protection).

Step 1: Clearing the Workspace

Before you begin, physically clear your desk or altar. Capricorn cannot build in chaos. Wipe down the surface with salted water or cedar smoke. Set your tools down intentionally. Light your candle and say:

“I clear the path for my highest work. I prepare the ground for my lasting legacy.”

Step 2: Drafting the Mountain (The Blueprint)

Sit in silence for a moment and visualize the “Mountain” of your 2026 goals. Don’t think about what you want; think about what you are willing to work for.

  • The Peak: On the top third of your paper, draw a large, bold triangle. At the very tip of this mountain, write your Primary Aim for the year in one clear sentence (e.g., “I am a successful, published author” or “I am financially sovereign and debt-free”).
  • The Foundation: Along the bottom edge of the triangle, write three Core Values. These are the “bedrock” that will keep you from falling when things get difficult. (Examples: Consistency, Integrity, Resilience).

Step 3: Laying the Stones (Practical Action)

Inside the belly of the mountain, draw three rectangular “Foundation Stones.” In each stone, write a practical, non-negotiable habit you will commit to during this lunar cycle.

  • Note: These shouldn’t be “results,” but “actions.” Instead of “lose weight,” write “walk for 20 minutes daily.” Instead of “make money,” write “spend one hour daily on my business plan.”

Step 4: The Stone Activation

Take your physical stone/crystal and hold it tightly in your dominant hand. Close your eyes and breathe into your Root Chakra (the base of your spine).

  • Visualize your goal at the peak of the mountain.
  • Feel the effort, the sweat, and the eventual triumph of the climb.
  • Transfer that energy—the grit and the determination—into the stone. Imagine the stone becoming incredibly heavy with the weight of your commitment.

Step 5: The Master Builder’s Invocation

While still holding the stone over your paper, recite the invocation with a firm, authoritative voice:

“I stand on the bedrock of my own potential. I am the Architect and the Builder. I release the fleeting and embrace the enduring. I honor the time it takes for greatness to take root. My boundaries are firm, my integrity is unshakable, and my spirit is as resilient as the mountain. As I lay this first stone, my ascent begins. And so it is.”

Step 6: Setting the Foundation

Place your paper on your altar or a safe shelf. Set the physical stone directly on top of the “Peak” you wrote. This “weights” your intention down into the physical realm.

Step 7: Closing and First Action

Extinguish your candle (don’t blow it out—snuff it, to keep the energy contained). To truly honor Capricorn, take one tiny, 5-minute action toward your goal immediately after finishing the ritual. Send that email, organize that one drawer, or write that first paragraph. This proves to the Universe you are ready to work.

Capricorn New moon and duality

Since, I am a grey witch every single energy I work with I look for the duality in that energy and how I can connect to it. This includes the new moon and the energy of the zodiac sign it currently is in. First, the energy of Capricorn we see duality not only in it’s symbol the sea goat but, also in one of the main themes Capricorn represents; ambition. The sea goat like we talked about earlier is a mythical being that literally represents the duality of the material realm and the emotional or mythical realm. Others even believe the sea goat represents the duality of human existence through evolution, starting in the sea and than moving upwards onto land. Than there is the duality of ambition. While ambition is a very wanted thing. It is pivotal to our motivation, getting things done, and thriving in our life. But, on the other hand it also can cloud our mind, narrow our view/vision, damage our relationships, and lead to burn out by not caring for ourselves properly.

Second, the new moon itself is all about duality and illuminating the night sky in both light and shadows. The new moon is all about rebirth, renewal, and the beginning of a new cycle, which puts you in a transitional liminal space, energy, and time. In order for you to be in a space to begin again, to transition, and be reborn you had to just come from an ending and death.

This new moon in Capricorn has another layer of duality with it being the last one of the year. This new moon in Capricorn ushers us across a threshold holding us in a unique pocket of liminal space. A pocket of time when we are still in one year but, just about to move to another year. From 2024 to 2025. From closing to opening. Ending to new beginning. Guiding us towards a new cycle and turning of the wheel to begin. Balancing us in both the seen and unseen, in frequency and matter, and the psychic and the physical as we do.

Final Thoughts for the Capricorn New Moon

As the first New Moon of 2026 fades into the stillness of the winter sky on January 18th, let it serve as a profound reminder that the climb itself is just as sacred as the summit. We often become so obsessed with the trophy at the top that we forget the character is forged in the ascent. This lunar cycle is a cosmic invitation to stop looking for shortcuts and instead pick up your tools with intention. It is a time to trust the quiet strength of your own bones and begin the patient, methodical work of building a life of substance—one that can withstand the winds of change because its foundations were laid in truth.

Under the velvet, dark sky of the Architect, you are being handed the silver pen to draft your own destiny. This is not a moment for fleeting wishes, but for deep, soul-level commitments. Use this “dark phase” of the moon to secure your boundaries, protect your vital energy from unnecessary distractions, and move into the remainder of the year with the steady, unyielding heart of a mountain. The void of the New Moon is not empty; it is a fertile space waiting for your command. How will you use this sacred silence to blueprint a legacy that outlasts the season and stands for years to come?

The Wolf Full Moon in Cancer: Sheltering the Soul and Honoring Instinct

The Wolf Full Moon in Cancer arrives on Saturday, January 3, 2026, at 4:02 a.m. CST. This powerful lunation—the final dazzling Supermoon of the series—howls into the cold winter night, inviting us to retreat into our emotional sanctuaries, honor our deepest instincts, and nurture the foundations of our lives as the new year begins.

This full moon activates the energy of the cardinal water sign, Cancer, bringing a tender focus to themes of home, family, emotional security, and ancestral roots. Full moons are always a time of culmination and release; this one asks us to harvest the emotional growth of the past six months and release any outdated protective shells that prevent us from being truly vulnerable and supported.

Let this Wolf Full Moon in Cancer guide you to honor your pack, protect your inner peace, and intentionally nurture the seeds of 2026, ensuring your heart is as resilient and warm as a winter hearth.

Full Moon: What It Is and Why We Honor It

Every month, the full moon brings the lunar cycle to its peak, bathing the night in powerful, visible light. This phase marks a time of culmination, manifestation, and release. It is when the seeds planted during the preceding new moon (the New Moon in Sagittarius) come to full expression, illuminating what has grown—and what needs to be pruned.

The full moon is a sacred time to pause, acknowledge your emotional resilience, and cleanse your energy of anything hindering your sense of safety. This isn’t just a celestial event—it’s a call to shed old defenses and prepare for the quiet work of building a soul-led life.

Cancer: The Sign of the Hearth and the Heart

Each full moon is shaped by its relationship with its opposing zodiac sign; while the Sun is currently positioned in structured, ambitious Capricorn, the Moon reaches its full expression in the intuitive and emotional sign of Cancer. Cancer, the fourth sign of the zodiac, is uniquely powerful during a full moon because it is the only sign ruled by the Moon itself, making this a homecoming of sorts for our lunar energy. Symbolized by the Crab, Cancer embodies the rhythmic cycle of the tides and the necessity of a safe harbor, offering the warmth of the home and a fierce, protective instinct toward the family or “pack”. As a cardinal water sign, Cancer does not just sit with feelings; it initiates deep emotional connections and actively seeks to build a sanctuary for the spirit. This sign governs the Fourth House of home, roots, and heritage, serving as a cosmic reminder to align our external ambitions with our internal, foundational needs for comfort, privacy, and true belonging.

Cancer constellation

Cancer, the crab, is the dimmest of the 12 zodiac constellations, yet it contains one of the brightest star clusters, the Beehive Cluster. In Greek mythology, the constellation Cancer represents a giant crab named Carcinos that attacked Hercules during one of his 12 labors. The goddess Hera sent the crab to distract Hercules while he fought the Hydra of Lerna, a water serpent. Cancer was able to grab Hercules’s toes with its claws, but Hercules killed it with a kick before it could cause more damage. Hera felt sorry for the crab and rewarded it for its efforts by placing it among the stars as the constellation Cancer.

In Egyptian mythology, the Cancer constellation was associated with the sacred scarab beetle, an emblem of rebirth and immortality. The connection comes from the scarab’s behavior of rolling dung into a ball, which the ancient Egyptians saw as a symbol of the forces that move the sun across the sky, thus connecting the beetle and the constellation with cycles of renewal and eternal life. In Mesopotamian mythology, the Cancer constellation was often depicted as a turtle or tortoise, associated with the summer solstice and sometimes seen as a gateway to the underworld.

In Celtic mythology, the Cancer constellation is most closely associated with the goddess Cerridwen, who is often depicted as the keeper of a cauldron of knowledge, with the stars within Cancer representing the sparks of wisdom emanating from her magical brew; essentially, the constellation is seen as a symbol of the cauldron itself, signifying the potential for enlightenment and deep understanding.

The Wolf Moon: The First Full Moon of 2026

The January full moon is traditionally honored as the Wolf Moon, a title steeped in the lore of deep winter. This name is rooted in the haunting howls of wolves that were heard more frequently across the snowy, frigid landscapes of midwinter, signaling their presence during the year’s most frozen months. Beyond the literal sound of the predator, the Wolf Moon serves as a profound symbol for the power of the pack and the necessity of community to survive the “long night” of winter. This lunation calls us to tap into our primal instincts to survive and thrive even in the harshest conditions, reminding us that we are strongest when we are grounded in our own territory and surrounded by those we trust. As the first full moon of 2026, it sets a tone of resilience, asking us to listen to our inner wild and protect the flame of our intentions as the new year begins.

As with most pagan names there will be different ones for each culture so below I listed any of the other names for the cold moon I could find across the Earth. The common themes for these moons are, stillness, introspection, community, resilience, wisdom, rest, and the coldness of winter.

  • Mörsugur (Norse) Fat (most likely animal fat) Sucking month
  • Great Spirit Moon or Spirit Moon Ojibwe Native American origins
  • Mantis Moon (Praying Mantis) South African origins
  • Ice Moon Catawba Native American origins
  • cold moon
  • frost exploding moon
  • When Snow Blows Like Spirits In The Wind Moon
  • Stay Home Moon or Quiet Moon Celtic
  • Bear Hunting Moon (táan kungáay) Haida Alaska Native American origins
  • Moon After Yule (Anglo-Saxon)
  • Sun Has Not Strength To Thaw

The Significance of the Last Supermoon

As a Supermoon, this lunation appears larger and more brilliant in the sky because it is near its closest point to Earth in its orbit. This physical proximity creates a powerful energetic “tug” on our internal tides, amplifying the lunar effects to their highest intensity. Because this moon falls in the sign of Cancer, you can expect your emotions to run exceptionally deep; the tides of your heart may pull more strongly than usual, demanding that you sit with your feelings rather than sweeping them aside. This Supermoon also blends the fierce “Wolf” energy of winter with the protective nature of the Cancerian Crab, creating a primal urge to defend what is sacred—your peace, your home, and your inner circle. As the final Supermoon in this series, it acts as a cosmic spotlight, shining directly into your private life to reveal whether your emotional foundations are built on shifting sands or solid rock. This proximity amplifies the lunar effects:

  • Heightened Emotion: In the sign of Cancer, expect feelings to run deep. The tides of your heart may pull more strongly than usual.
  • Primal Protection: The Wolf energy combined with the Cancerian Crab creates a powerful urge to protect what is sacred to you.
  • Illuminated Roots: This light shines directly into your private life, revealing whether your foundations are built on sand or solid emotional rock.

Themes of the Wolf Full Moon in Cancer

This lunation brings the essential themes of security, belonging, and intuition to the forefront, urging us to prioritize our emotional well-being as the cornerstone of the new year. A major focus is Emotional Security, which involves identifying what truly makes you feel safe and “at home” within your own skin. It is also a time for honoring Family and Ancestry, acknowledging both the blood relatives and the soul-family that sustain your spirit. To truly harness this energy, we are called to practice Vulnerability by consciously releasing the hard “crab shell” we often wear for protection, allowing for deeper, more authentic connections with others. Finally, this moon heightens our Instinct, encouraging us to trust our “gut” feelings and internal compass just as much as we trust logic or external facts.

  • Emotional Security: Identifying what truly makes you feel safe and “at home.”
  • Family & Ancestry: Honoring the blood and soul-family that sustain you.
  • Vulnerability: Releasing the hard “crab shell” to allow for deeper connection.
  • Instinct: Trusting your “gut” feelings as much as your logic.

What to Be Cautious Of

While the energy of Cancer is nurturing, when it is unchecked or over-amplified by the Supermoon, it can lead to moodiness, over-sensitivity, or a refusal to let go of the past. You must be wary of falling into a “Crab Mentality,” where you inadvertently pull yourself or those around you down into old emotional rants, grievances, or unnecessary drama. There is also a risk of extreme Defensiveness, where you might use your emotional shell to shut people out completely rather than setting healthy, flexible boundaries that allow for love to enter. Lastly, beware of Nostalgia Overload; getting too lost in the memories of “how things used to be” can create a stagnant energy that prevents you from seeing the beauty and opportunity available in the present moment. Be wary of:

  • Crab Mentality: Pulling yourself (or others) down into old emotional rants or drama.
  • Defensiveness: Using your shell to shut people out instead of setting healthy boundaries.
  • Nostalgia Overload: Getting so lost in “how things used to be” that you miss the beauty of the present.

Howl your emotions out ritual with the wolf moon

This first full moon of the year is the wolf moon remember? So why not connect to the spirt and energy of the wild and wise wolf under the full moon rays of light by communicating like them tonight. One of the simplest ways to release pent-up emotions and energy is to actually howl at the moon just like wolves like to do. Though we now know that wolves howl for different reasons (including to find pack members or to coordinate a hunt), this full moon we can take a cue from these majestic creatures and do our own howling. The howl is the spirit of the wolf unleashed in its divine expression.

So this full moon Do what the wolf does: howl to the Moon. With all the stress and unwanted emotion in life let it go, howl what is in your heart. Let loose what is in the depths of your soul. The Moon is listening. Sitting with the Full Wolf Moon especially in cancer you will know that you are not alone.

How to do this:

When the moon is high out in the sky get some warm clothes on and head outside under the moonlight. Find a place where you can get a clear view of the full moon and be alone. Then stand with your feet apart and put your hands on your hips creating your strongest power pose. Focus on drawing the energy of the moonlight down into you and your pose. Feeling the untamed wild , wisdom, and intuition of the wolf. Allowing the rays of the full moon to hunt down the things that need to be released tonight. Once you feel they have been found. With a deep breath as loud as you can howl as the wolves do and let it all out. Feel the tension, the stress, the past wound, the pain, and the hurt, leave you now with the depth of your howl and be left to the winter wild.

Cancer and duality

Since, I am a grey witch every single energy I work with I look for the duality in that energy and how I can connect to it. First, let’s talk about the sign Cancer. The zodiac sign Cancer is known for its duality, which is represented by the crab’s hard shell and soft underbelly. Cancer energy is said to be tough and protective on the outside, but nurturing and emotional on the inside. Like the crab this energy allows us to retreat into our shell and home we carry on our back and be grounded safely in it. But, when we need to we can stand our ground and defend the home we carry on our backs and protect it until the end. Even though we will feel protective, this energy also allows us to feel, be sensitive, and to nurture not only others but, ourselves. We may feel resilient and hard on the outside right now, but on the inside the waves of emotions are crashing all around us and we internally don’t feel strong and protected.

Second, the full moon itself is all about duality as it is another time of transformation, transition, and rebirth. During this time we are pushed into a liminal space that forces us to look at the things, people, and places that have been obstacles or holding us back. This can be a thing of beauty and hope as well as a thing of pain and darkness which forces us into duality.

Final Thoughts

As the Wolf Full Moon in Cancer on January 3rd glows against the winter snow, let it be a luminous reminder that vulnerability is not a weakness, but a profound strength. This potent lunar cycle invites you to descend into your private depths to nurture your roots, honor the loyalty of your pack, and lean into the primal instincts that guide you safely through the dark. It is a time to retreat from the demands of the external world so that you may feed your soul, protect your precious energy, and move into the heart of winter with a spirit that is both intentionally shielded and beautifully soft.

Under the amplified gaze of this final Supermoon, the veil between your external life and your internal sanctuary is thinned. Allow the brilliant light to illuminate the path back to your truest self, showing you exactly what you need to feel secure, loved, and grounded as the new year unfolds. How will you use this Supermoon’s clarity to find your way home to your own heart?

New Moon in Scorpio: Diving Deep for Profound Transformation

The new moon in Scorpio on November 20, 2025, plunges us into the deep, mysterious waters of the soul, inviting a profound reset of our inner landscape. Arriving just after the veil has thinned (around Samhain/Halloween), this lunation marks a powerful, intense threshold, blending the lunar reset with Scorpio’s call to purge, investigate, and truly transform.

As a time to set intentions and plant seeds for the future, this Scorpio new moon offers a sacred opportunity to confront the shadows, embrace vulnerability, and alchemize emotional wounds into authentic power. For me, this moon always resonates with a deep pull to introspection, mirroring the cycles of death and rebirth that are essential to all spiritual growth.

Scorpio is the sign of the mystic, the investigator, and the passionate transformer, ruled by Pluto, the planet of death and regeneration, and traditionally by Mars, the planet of action and desire. This new moon encourages us to turn inward with fearless honesty, refine our emotional intelligence, and embrace the raw, often uncomfortable, beauty of profound change. Let this New Moon in Scorpio guide you to shed your skin, nurture your emotional depths, and emerge stronger, aligning with the powerful, cyclical journey of the soul.

New Moon: What It Is and Why We Honor It

Every month, the new moon ushers in a fresh cycle, a moment to pause, reflect, and plant intentions for the weeks ahead. This lunar phase, shrouded in darkness, is a sacred time to cleanse your energy, set goals, and align your actions with your soul’s purpose. The new moon isn’t just a celestial event—it’s a call to pair intention with effort, weaving emotional depth and practical action into a tapestry of manifestation. Historically, our ancestors revered this phase as a time of renewal, using the quiet night to plan and restore, much like the seasonal shifts that guide our lives.

This Scorpio new moon carries a unique magic, blending lunar renewal with the sign’s powerful, fixed water influence. It’s a time to dive into the subconscious and prepare for the quietest parts of the year, a process I feel deeply as I meditate on personal transformation.

Scorpio: The Sign of Alchemy and Depth

Each new moon is shaped by its zodiac sign, and this Scorpio new moon brings the intense, fixed, watery energy of the Scorpion. Who is Scorpio?

Scorpio, the eighth sign of the zodiac, spans October 23 to November 21. It’s dually ruled: by Pluto, the modern ruler of transformation and the underworld, and Mars, the traditional ruler of desire and war. Symbolized by the Scorpion, this sign embodies passion, investigation, and a quest for emotional truth. As a fixed water sign, Scorpio adapts but holds deep, immovable emotional power, offering psychic intuition and a healing touch through catharsis. This sign governs the Eighth House of sex, death, regeneration, shared resources, and psychological transformation, urging us to align our lives with the ultimate truths.

Scorpio Energy in Myth and History

In mythology, Scorpio is powerfully linked to the underworld and deep cycles. The most famous myth ties it to the scorpion sent to strike Orion—a tale of cosmic revenge that placed both creatures opposite each other in the sky. It is linked to deities of the underworld and transformation, such as the Greek Hades/Pluto. This history resonates with Scorpio’s role as the psychopomp, guiding us through the “death” of an old self to the “rebirth” of a new one.

Why I Love the Moon in Scorpio

I adore when the moon graces Scorpio because of its unflinching honesty. This energy demands that we look at what’s hidden, what we fear, and what we secretly desire, offering a path to profound power that no other sign can. Scorpio cuts through the superficial and gets to the heart of the matter—a tool I find invaluable in my own shadow work and spellcraft. This new moon feels like an alchemical container, a moment to honor the emotional depths and commit to true, lasting transformation. This alignment enhances intuition and allows us to tap into the wellspring of raw, passionate energy that fuels deep change.

Defending Scorpio’s Misunderstood Energy

Scorpio often gets a bad rap, labeled as manipulative, dark, or overly intense. People fear the depth and intensity of Scorpio, missing its true heart: an unparalleled capacity for loyalty, intimacy, and healing through truth. The Scorpionic need for control is often a shield for deep vulnerability. Yet, this criticism overlooks how much we need Scorpio—its relentless pursuit of authenticity, its courage to sit with pain, and its devotion to transformation.

In a world that often prizes superficiality, Scorpio’s depth is a necessity. They are the ones who can hold space for the most difficult truths and emerge stronger. This new moon invites us to honor Scorpio’s gifts, to see the passion in its intensity, and to celebrate the internal warriors who sustain us all.

Themes of the Scorpio New Moon

This Scorpio new moon brings themes of transformation, intimacy, and investigation, urging us to align our intentions with emotional truth and profound change. We’ll feel a pull to explore our subconscious, deepen our bonds, and release what has run its course. This moon is a time to harvest emotional clarity, embrace our power, and step into our roles as self-healers.

  • Transformation/Rebirth: Initiate the death of an old pattern to begin anew.
  • Depth & Investigation: Dive into your subconscious, seeking hidden truths.
  • Intimacy & Trust: Focus on vulnerability and emotional bonding in relationships.
  • Power & Alchemy: Reclaim your personal power and turn pain into strength.
  • Sexuality: Explore and honor your deepest sexual desires and creative energy.
  • Release: Purge old hurts, resentments, and emotional baggage.

What to Be Cautious Of With the Scorpio New Moon

Scorpio’s intensity, while powerful, can tip into obsessiveness, suspicion, or emotional drama. This new moon might amplify a tendency to cling to old hurts or engage in power struggles. Be wary of isolating yourself in your quest for control—balance your investigative nature with compassion for yourself and others. Use this energy to fuel your desires, not to burn relationships.

Scorpio and Duality

As a practitioner who cherishes the duality in every energy, Scorpio is a master class. On one side, Scorpio is loyal, passionate, and deeply intuitive, offering a foundation for profound growth and an unmatched capacity for intimacy. This energy heals through catharsis and honesty. On the other, Scorpio can be manipulative, secretive, and ruthlessly controlling, sometimes leading to emotional isolation or self-sabotage.

The new moon embodies this liminal space, a blend of ending and beginning, shadow and light. This moon invites us to harmonize Scorpio’s incredible depth with a willingness to surrender, refining our path with fierce grace.

Ground with the Safety, Security, and Abundance of Taurus During the Super Beaver Full Moon

A lot is happening in the collective right now causing waves of change and uncertainty, and this month’s powerful Super Full Moon in Taurus can really help us with feeling safe amongst the chaos. The Super Moon aspect means the Moon is at its closest point to Earth, amplifying its energy—and in the fixed earth sign of Taurus, that means we get an extra dose of stability and security. Taurus, being an earth sign, naturally connects you to stability and security, grounding you in the roots of yourself and the Earth. As the incredibly luminous Moon begins her next cycle aligned with the steadfast bull, we will feel called to ground ourselves in the realm of the earthly and tangible by really truly slowing down.

This will be a welcome, amplified feeling right now especially with so much change happening in the collective. Grounding our energy, feeling secure and stable in our being, and spending time in nature with the steadfast bull are all things we can do to feel a sense of calm amongst the chaos that is happening around us now. Allowing us to be more willing to confront these changes head on with grounded purpose instead of digging our hooves in and thrashing about in fear. This super stable energy is going to be really welcomed as well. After the very emotional and transformational new moon we just experienced, this full moon is here to remind us there are new pastures for us to venture to, and even though we may have been content where we were, nothing stays the same for long. If we charge forward being grounded in the roots of who we are we can meet the chaos, the fear, and the unknown from a place of stability and strength. Join me in this blogpost to plant your feet firmly on the fortified rock that is the Super Taurus full moon amongst the chaos of life.

What is the Full Moon & What is a Super Moon?

Over the centuries, the Moon has played a significant role in different cultures and traditions. The full moon simply put is when the moon is completely illuminated in the sky and it has reached its peak in this lunar cycle in the sky. When the moon is completely illuminated it’s time for all to reach full expression. The full moon is the most powerful and potent time of the entire lunar cycle.

A full moon occurs when the transit (moving) Sun and Moon are in the exact opposite positions in the Zodiac (called an opposition). The full moon greatly affects humans, and it’s no wonder it does because, there’s a scientific reason for this – we are made up of 60% or more of water. Full Moons are the peak point of the lunar cycle: at this time of the month, the light of the Sun is fully illuminating the Moon, and the luminaries are exactly opposing one another from our perspective on Earth. This potent alignment offers us opportunities to gain more awareness about what is moving in our inner and emotional world, and information previously uncertain or hidden could be revealed at this time.

With the moon being fully illuminated it creates this portal to some of the most potent energy to connect to for us to manifest our desires and dream life. This portal creates a connection to our peak creative energy and the deep seated creative passions we all have within us. This creative energy and power is the energy we need to actually do and create the things and lifestyle we need to manifest what we desire. With the new moon phase being about planting the seeds of what you want to manifest, the full moon is about actually doing the work and moving the energy to make your manifesting happen.

The Super Moon Factor

This particular full moon is also a Super Moon, which means the Moon is at its closest orbital point to Earth—known as perigee—making it appear larger and brighter in the night sky. The closer proximity means the gravitational and energetic pull of the Moon is amplified. Think of it as a full moon with its volume turned up! This gives the themes of the Taurus full moon an extra boost of power and intensity for your magical and personal work.

There are so many ways to work with the full moon; to learn more about the basics of working with the full moon energy check out my blog post here and you can watch my class all about lunar magic. But, remember each full moon will be slightly different and have different practices to add and different ways to do it based on which zodiac sign the full moon is currently in at the time.

The Beaver Moon

During November, Beavers eagerly complete their lodges and food supplies for the chilly winter months ahead. Which is why this month’s full Moon is called the Beaver Moon. Its name represents the time of year when beavers prepare for winter. This was also when Native American tribes would trap beavers for their valuable pelts to help their people survive the harsh winter months. This full moon is about harnessing the tenacious and patient energy of the beaver to bunker down in your home and make it cozy and warm for the winter months to come.

This month’s full moon reminds us to look at the beaver’s ability to truly be the architect of their own lives with their building abilities. They are meticulous with the dams they build, picking where within the water they will create boundaries. They maintain their home with protection and love, constantly searching for cracks in the foundation and repairing it when needed. The Beaver Moon symbolizes a time of release, protection, transition, introspection, and cleansing.

As with most pagan names there will be different ones for each culture so below I listed any of the other names for the hunter’s moon I could find across the Earth. The common themes for these moons are, preparation for the winter, the transition to winter, gathering supplies, and protection.

  • Freezing Over Moon – Ojibwe
  • Mourning Moon
  • Deer rutting moon
  • Snow moon
  • Milk Moon – pre-colonal South Africa
  • Leaf Fall Moon (Yapa Huktugere Nuti) Catawba – Native American origins
  • Frost moon
  • Slaughter or Butcher month – Norse origins (Gormánuður)
  • Darkest Depths Moon – Celtic origins
  • Digging moon
  • Little Winter Moon (Tahch’asap’aratohku) Tunica – Native American origins

Who is Taurus?

Like I said before each full moon will be amplified and influenced by the zodiac sign we find it in, and this time the full moon is in the sign of Taurus. So who is Taurus?

Taurus, the second sign of the zodiac symbolized by the headstrong bull, is the sign that anchors us to stability. As a fixed Earth sign, Taurus is the fortified mountain on which we stand amongst the spinning chaos of life. Taurus is the steady, grounding force of the Earth. Since Taurus is ruled by the planet Venus, we look for stability in the sense of comfort, in the material things that make us feel secure, safe, and bring us tangible pleasure. The headstrong bull of Taurus provides you with inner strength and a deep connection to what truly matters to you.

Taurus Constellation

Taurus is one of largest constellations in the northern sky. The constellation is symbolized by the bull’s head. Not only that it is one of the oldest constellations and one of the first ones to spoken and written about. Its history dates back to the Bronze Age .It sits in the evening sky close to the famous constellation Orion and it includes a famous star cluster the pleidess.

According to Greek mythology, the constellation Taurus was placed in the sky by the god Zeus. That’s because Zeus changed himself into a beautiful white Bull to win the affections of the Phoenician princess Europa. After Europa hopped onto the Bull’s back, the Bull swam across the Mediterranean Sea, taking Europa all the way to the island of Crete. Later, Zeus and Europa became the parents of Minos, the legendary king of Crete. In another Greek myth, Zeus’s wife, Juno, changed her lover, Io, into a heifer or bull to hide her from Zeus

Meanwhile, the Zuni of New Mexico used the Pleiades cluster as an agricultural calendar. When the Pleiades – which the Zuni called the Seed Stars – disappeared into the western dusk in spring, they knew it was safe to plant their seeds, as the danger of frost had passed.

Now for the oldest myth I can find. In Babylonian mythology, the bull was known as the Heavenly Bull, or MUL.APIN. This constellation is connected to the story of Gilgamesh. He was the king of the Sumerian city state of Uruk. In the book The Epic of Gilgamesh, the king has to fight the Heavenly Bull. This animal was sent by the goddess Ishtar to kill Gilgamesh. She was so angry at him for not falling for her advances that she thought he deserved to die. Gilgamesh is considered to be represented by the constellation Orion, which is right next to Taurus. The story goes that they are still fighting their battle in the skies.

Taurus the Rock of Stability

Taurus brings in a solid rock foundation of deep stability. This is the rock around which all the duality of life is spinning. Taurus as an archetype is earthy, fortified like a mountain, and all about the sensations of nature around us. It often asks us to connect to our bodies and to the tangible, material parts of our life experience. On our journey there, Taurus also asks us to backtrack. To go back to the foundation and core of who we are and the intentions we are setting. Before releasing and letting go for change, this Moon wants us to first look to our core truths, values, and motivations. To make sure we are planting seeds of intentions we truly desire to be sown by first releasing what no longer needs to grow.

Taurus The Sign Of Money and The Body

Taurus has a reputation for abundance, in all its earthly delights. Taurus is a money ruler, so we can focus on opportunities to improve our financial situations and plan for the future. Whether it’s budgeting, saving, or investing, this is a good time to take stock of your resources and recognize the value of your hard work. During this super full moon, we can maximize resources we have, and get our hands on new resources. This can help improve stability and security in our lives, and as we improve stability and security, we can get more opportunities for money and resources.

Taurus is also one of the most body-centered (and centering) signs of the zodiac. When the Moon is in the sign of Taurus, we are reminded of the sacredness of our physical form. Taurus asks us to sit with ourselves fully. Not in an intellectual way, or spiritual way but, in a physical way. It asks us to take time to notice the breath entering our lungs, the beating of our hearts, the movement in our blood, the tension in our muscles, pressure on our bones, and sensations from our senses. Taurus puts an emphasis on creature comforts, reminding us to slow down, savor deeply, and reconnect with our physicality by simply enjoying life’s pleasures.

Themes of the Super Taurus Full Moon

Every full Moon contains its own themes, which are related to the sign that it falls under. This time, we experience the amplified full Moon in the grounded, secure, stable, pleasurable, practical, headstrong, and rooted sign of the bull in Taurus. When the Super Full Moon in Taurus graces the sky, it offers cosmic guidance for grounding yourself in the present moment. The Taurus full Moon, amplified by the Super Moon effect, is a powerful moon that focuses your attention on practical matters and what brings you inner peace.

Keep in mind that the full Moon relates to the continuation of your journey to manifest your desires and dreams. This will be especially strong this full moon; being in the sign of our body, security, and stability will feel a need to take intentional steps down the path where all our goals will be met. So, try and have any of your workings based on these topics, and be grounded in those seeds of intention you had planted on the new moon. Don’t forget this full moon is layered with many energies for you to connect to as well like the meticulous building abilities of the beaver as your prepare for the winter ahead.

What To Be Cautious Of With The Taurus Full Moon

Our confidence can be high with the Taurus full Moon if we feel secure and take it easy. If we don’t, we may become stubborn about something, and insecurity can lead to lashing out erratically. Be careful with being stubborn as well to not try and move immovable objects and start unneeded conflict. The other thing to be careful of with this moon is the pull to rest, relax and go inward. It can be very potent and alluring. While taking to time rest and replenish our bodies is important don’t let it go so far you start to avoid responsibilities.

Taurus and duality

Since, I am a grey witch every single energy I work with I look for the duality in that energy and how I can connect to it. This includes the full moon and the energy of the zodiac sign it currently is in. First,  the sign of Taurus while it may be all about abundance, security, stability, and going deep within to be rooted and anchored. That isn’t a light process, or an easy process. To truly fully receive abundance, and be rooted in our sacred contacts and soul purposes. To truly manifest all of our deepest desires, passions, and intentions; we have to face the depths of our pasts, who we really are, and where we have honestly been. In order to have the space and ability to receive it all and most importantly be willing to receive by knowing we are worthy and it is meant to be ours. Doing this opens you to a very liminal space steeped in duality for you to truly do the work needed to benefit from this new moon to its fullest potential.

Root Meditation For Taurus Full Moon

The purpose of this meditation is to help you feel grounded and stable to the earth, and who you are while also replenishing your energy and strength. It also creates a circular current of energy from the earth’s core, through your energetic body, and the celestial body the moon.

How to do:

Find a comfortable position to be in somewhere that you can be alone and be left uninterrupted for a small amount of time. If you want to do this outside under the moon or connecting to the earth you can as well!

Begin by taking four centering breaths in and continue to box breath:

How to box breathe:

  1. Breathe in to the count of four (I measure my count with my heartbeat).
  2. Hold your breath for four counts.
  3. Breathe out for four counts.
  4. Pause for four counts before taking another breath.
  5. Repeat.
  6. This breathing technique helps to quiet the mind and center your focus. I use this not only for meditation, guided work, and magical purposes but, for mental health coping skills as well!

Continuing to breathe gently into the softness of your belly, you are going to begin to visualize yourself within yourself. Visualize yourself pulling back from the edges of your body. Draw your consciousness inwards so that you feel yourself inside of your body as if it were a sacred container/ temple that you can draw back into. Feel yourself growing smaller in the powerful space of your body, drifting down into the sacred portal of energy in your belly, down into your pelvic space. The sacred portal of energy many know as the root chakra or the cauldron of warming.

Remaining within yourself, visualize a root extending from inner-you down deep into the earth. Breathe into this root as it extends downwards into the floor beneath you, and than into the soil. Feel as it expands and grows moving throwing the soil. Past roots of plants and other trees, past rocks, and decaying remains and debris, past critters, and creatures that wiggle in the dirt. You breathe in and on the exhale your root extends even further into the soil stretching as far as it can until you reach the burning hot, molten core at the center of the earth. And you feel the energy of the earth pulsating there ready for you to absorb.

With every out-breath your root extends and with every in-breath you pull up green energy through your roots back into inner-you from that molten hot core in the center of the earth pulsating in front of you. The green energy stretches up into all parts of inner-you until you are completely filled with it from your toes to fingertips to the very top of your head. The energy extends out of the crown of your head skywards in the form of branches, sprouting leaves, and maybe even blooming buds or fruit. With every out-breath your branches extend upwards and with every in-breath your branches pull celestial, lunar, and solar energy into inner-you. Let the currents of green and celestial energy mingle throughout your body creating a circle current from the celestial energy, through you, and into the core of the earth and back again.

When you feel sufficiently charged-up, begin to pull back your roots and branches until they have formed a small but powerful sphere of centered energy in the belly of inner-you. This is a continuous conductor of energy that you can connect to for abundance, growth, and the divine connection between you, the earth, and the celestial body the moon. You can go within yourself, to your sacred container/temple of your body, to access it at any time, including repeating this simple ritual to continue to revitalize your inner energy.

Whenever you are ready you can open your eyes and come fully back to your body by giving yourself a self-massage or squeezing your feet connecting to the energy current you just were connected too.

Dive into Innovation under the Sturgeon Full Moon in Aquarius

This mystical August, we prepare to embrace the Sturgeon Full Moon illuminating the skies on August 9, under the visionary, rebellious spirit of Aquarius. This full moon, named for the abundant sturgeon fish harvested by the Great Lakes tribes in late summer, pulses with energy of innovation, community, and bold transformation, urging us to break free from convention and pursue our unique visions. As the Sturgeon Moon rises, we’ll feel a surge of inspiration, a call to connect with others in revolutionary ways, and an invitation to release old patterns that stifle our growth. In the weeks following, we may find ourselves blossoming toward new horizons, empowered by creativity and unity. Join me in this guide as we dive into innovation under the Sturgeon Full Moon in Aquarius!

First, What is the Full Moon?

Across centuries, the Moon has been a sacred guide in diverse cultures and traditions. The full moon marks the moment when the Moon is fully illuminated, reaching its zenith in the lunar cycle—a powerful peak of expression and energy. This occurs when the transiting Sun and Moon stand in opposition across the zodiac, a celestial dance that stirs our inner waters, given our bodies are over 60% water. Full Moons are the crescendo of the lunar cycle, with the Sun’s light fully revealing the Moon, offering a mirror to our emotions and hidden desires.

This luminous alignment opens a portal to manifest our deepest dreams, channeling peak creative and passionate energy to shape the life we envision. While the new moon plants seeds, the full moon activates the work to bring those seeds to fruition, bridging intention and action beyond its brightest night. Explore the basics in my lunar magic blog post here. Each full moon, like this Aquarius Sturgeon Moon, carries unique vibrations tied to its zodiac sign, inviting us to align with its magic.

The Sturgeon Moon

As August’s warmth ripens the earth, the night sky glows with the Sturgeon Full Moon, a name gifted by the Great Lakes tribes, who celebrated the season of sturgeon abundance in late summer. Though not visually distinct, this moon shines with a deep, reflective hue, radiating energy of resilience, community, and the richness of nature’s depths. The Sturgeon Moon invites us to celebrate innovation, embrace collective strength, and align with the waters’ generous gifts, a time to gather the fruits of our collaboration with gratitude.

Following July’s Buck Moon, the Sturgeon Moon carries forward the theme of abundance, resonating with the transformative energy of late summer and the promise of renewal. It’s a call to explore new ideas, to connect with our communities, and to dance with the moon’s spirits under its luminous glow. Use this moon to reflect on your vision, recalibrate your innovations, and infuse your spirit with the courage to embrace change. Across cultures, the August full moon bears other names, each echoing themes of harvest and unity:

  • Sturgeon Moon (Great Lakes Tribes)
  • Corn Moon (Algonquin, some years)
  • Barley Moon (European)
  • Red Moon (Cherokee)
  • Harvest Moon (Sioux, early August)

So, Who is Aquarius?

As the eleventh sign of the zodiac, Aquarius is ruled by Uranus, the planet of revolution and originality, and governed by the air element, igniting intellect and innovation. Known for its love of freedom, humanity, and forward-thinking, Aquarius is the water bearer, pouring forth ideas and dreams with boundless vision. When the Moon aligns with Aquarius, we feel a magnetic pull to break from tradition, connect with our communities, and embrace our inner visionary, encouraging us to trust our unique path and release what confines our spirit.

The Aquarius Constellation

The Aquarius constellation sparkles in the eastern sky, its stars forming the shape of a water bearer with a flowing urn, a symbol of inspiration and renewal. In ancient Greek lore, it’s linked to Ganymede, the cupbearer to the gods, while Babylonian myths tie it to Ea, the god of wisdom and waters. The constellation’s bright star, Sadalsuud, pulses with energy of hope and change, aligning with Aquarius’ revolutionary spirit. For many cultures, this celestial figure marked a time of abundance and innovation, reflecting its themes of progress and unity.

Aquarius: The Sign of Innovation and Community

Aquarius, an air sign fueled by Uranus’ revolutionary grace, thrives on innovation and the pursuit of collective good. It seeks to explore new ideas—intellectually, socially, and spiritually—craving connections that uplift the soul. Under this Full Moon, Aquarius’ energy will ignite our desire to break free, collaborate with others, and embrace our authentic vision. It’s a time to honor your inner inventor, to chase your dreams with purpose, and to let go of fears that isolate you. Aquarius reminds us that progress lies in community, not just the individual.

Aquarius: The Sign of Vision and Liberation

Ruled by Uranus, Aquarius is the zodiac’s visionary and liberator, always seeking higher ideals and freedom through originality. During this Full Moon, Uranus’ influence amplifies our quest for change and release, urging us to expand our horizons and trust our unique compass. This is a moment to reflect on your vision, to heal through connection, and to share your insights with others. Aquarius’ airy optimism can illuminate new paths, helping us transform our lives with bold liberation.

Uranus’ Revolutionary Influence is Active

Uranus, the planet of change and innovation, shines brightly under this Full Moon, magnifying Aquarius’ energy. Uranus encourages us to dream boldly, to release outdated beliefs, and to trust in our potential for transformation. After a period of reflection, Uranus’ influence now urges us to revolutionize our vision, to plant seeds of progress in the fertile waters of August, and to believe in the power of unity. This revolutionary energy can help us manifest our wildest innovations, but it asks us to stay grounded in collaboration.

What to Be Cautious of During an Aquarius Full Moon

Aquarius’ visionary enthusiasm is a gift, but its shadow can bring detachment or eccentricity. This Full Moon may tempt us to overthink, resist emotional depth, or clash with tradition in disruptive ways. Its rebellious streak might also spark unintended conflicts if we’re not mindful of balance. Ground this energy by connecting with water, reflecting before acting, and embracing your vision with patience and empathy.

Aquarius Full Moon and Duality

As a free witch, I seek the duality in every lunar energy. The full moon itself embodies duality as a time of culmination and release, pulling us into a liminal space where we harvest gains and let go of what hinders us—a dance of light and shadow. Aquarius’ duality lies in its balance of individuality and community. While it craves innovation and freedom, it also teaches us that true liberation comes from unity. Aquarius reminds us that duality—self and collective, change and stability—is the key to a fulfilling vision.

Shadow Work Under the Aquarius Full Moon

Shadow work, the art of facing our hidden fears and unhealed wounds, finds a unique rhythm under the Sturgeon Full Moon in Aquarius. This moon’s airy, revolutionary energy, enhanced by Uranus, illuminates the shadows of conformity and isolation we’ve buried, urging us to confront them with bold creativity. Aquarius’ quest for innovation encourages us to explore our inner depths, while its community focus fuels the courage to release what no longer serves. This is a time to ask: What fears keep me from my vision? What patterns limit my growth? Journal these shadows, then use the moon’s energy to release them through rituals like submerging a list of doubts in water or meditating on your inner water bearer. Shadow work here can lead to profound transformation, guiding you toward your most authentic, connected self.

New Moon in Cancer: Nurturing the Soul’s Depths

The new moon in Cancer on June 25, 2025, flows in with a tender, watery energy that soothes our hearts and invites us to dive into the realms of nurturing, intuition, and emotional connection. This new moon, cradled in the sensitive, protective, and deeply feeling water sign of Cancer, offers a sacred moment to plant seeds of self-care, family bonds, and inner security in our lives. New moons are always a time to start afresh, set intentions, and envision your future—but this Cancer new moon, arriving as we bask in the afterglow of the summer solstice on June 20, becomes a powerful opportunity to embrace vulnerability and honor the flow of emotions. For me, this moon resonates deeply with my recent shadow work under Minnesota’s warm June skies, continuing the theme of aligning with nature’s cycles and finding harmony in emotional depth.

Cancer is all about nurturing, intuition, and the sanctuary of home. This new moon encourages us to turn inward, protect our emotional space, and embrace the cycles of care within us. As a sign ruled by the Moon itself, Cancer reminds us to trust our instincts, seek comfort, and connect with our roots. This new moon is the time to tap into the most compassionate, intuitive version of yourself—the one that whispers, “I am worthy of love and security.” Let this New Moon in Cancer cradle you in the tides of transformation, helping you manifest a life of emotional richness, familial harmony, and soulful sanctuary.

New Moon: What It Is and Why We Honor It

Every month, the new moon ushers us into a fresh cycle, a moment to pause, reflect, and set intentions. Before we dive into Cancer’s watery magic, let’s ground ourselves in the essence of the new moon itself. This lunar phase is a time to cleanse your energy, set intentions for the cycle ahead, and plant the seeds of what you wish to manifest. But intentions alone aren’t enough—you must pair them with action and emotion to bring them to life. The new moon supports you in this process, offering a fertile space for new beginnings, healing, and growth.

Historically, our ancestors honored the new moon as a time of rest and renewal, using the darkness of the night sky to reflect and plan, much like they did during seasonal shifts. Think of your intentions as seeds you’re planting now, to be nurtured over the lunar cycle and harvested by the full moon. Each new moon carries its own unique magic, influenced by the zodiac sign it falls in. To learn more about working with the new moon, check out my previous blog post here. Cancer: The Sign of Nurturing and Intuition

Each new moon is amplified by the zodiac sign it occupies, and this time, we’re blessed with the tender, emotional energy of Cancer. So, who is Cancer?

Cancer, symbolized by the Crab, is the fourth sign of the zodiac, governing those born between June 21 and July 22. As a water sign ruled by the Moon, Cancer embodies nurturing, intuition, and a deep connection to home—think cozy evenings, family gatherings, or the comfort of a safe haven. Cancer energy is sensitive, protective, and cyclical, encouraging us to honor our emotions and build security. It’s a cardinal sign, meaning it initiates action, making it a perfect guide for nurturing new emotional foundations.

Cancer Constellation

Cancer is a faint constellation in the northern sky, visible in the evening during late winter and spring. The constellation is symbolized by the Crab, linked to the myth of Hercules and the Hydra, where the crab was sent by Hera to distract Hercules during his labors. Its history traces back to ancient Mesopotamia, where it was associated with a turtle or scarab, symbols of protection, and later adopted by the Greeks. Cancer sits near Gemini and Leo, with its brightest star, Acubens, marking the crab’s body.

In Greek mythology, the Cancer constellation commemorates the crab that bit Hercules’ foot during his battle with the Hydra. Sent by Hera, the crab was crushed by Hercules but honored by the goddess with a place in the sky. This tale reflects Cancer’s protective nature, even in sacrifice. In other cultures, the Aboriginal Australians saw the stars as a water container, guiding seasonal rains, while Babylonian mythology linked Cancer to the god Sin, ruler of the moon, emphasizing emotional tides.

Cancer: The Sign of Emotional Sanctuary

Cancer is the embodiment of watery sanctuary, ruled by the Moon, the planet of emotions, intuition, and cycles. This sign revels in the emotional world—think heartfelt conversations, home-cooked meals, and the warmth of loved ones. Cancer energy is compassionate, intuitive, and deeply tied to the heart, encouraging us to embrace vulnerability and connect with our roots. As a cardinal water sign, Cancer is the tide of the zodiac, offering initiation, emotional depth, and a knack for creating safe spaces.

This new moon in Cancer is a time to embrace your inner caregiver, planting seeds that will grow into emotional security and intuitive wisdom. Cancer, ruled by the Moon, invites us to focus on self-love, family, and the sanctuary within. We may feel a surge of desire to nurture ourselves, protect our boundaries, and express our feelings freely. Use this energy to heal your heart, to seek comfort, and to cultivate a sense of harmony that flows through your emotional and domestic life.

Cancer: The Sign of Protection and Cycles

Cancer rules the fourth house in astrology, often called the house of home, family, and roots. This house governs our sense of security, our ancestral ties, and our innermost sanctuary, reflecting our ability to nurture and be nurtured. Cancer, as the ruler of this house, teaches us that true strength comes from emotional resilience and honoring our cycles. This sign encourages us to value our intuition, to celebrate our protective instincts, and to create a life that reflects emotional richness.

Cancer energy is a reminder that we are cyclical, capable of flowing with life’s tides. It’s the sign that helps us cultivate a strong sense of home, grounded in love rather than fear. During this new moon, focus on what soothes your soul, connects you to your roots, and invites you to heal. Cancer invites us to build a life that feels rich in every sense—emotionally, domestically, and spiritually.

Themes of the Cancer New Moon

Every new moon carries themes tied to its zodiac sign, and this Cancer new moon is all about nurturing, intuition, and protection. We’ll feel a deep pull to turn inward, to care for our emotional needs, and to embrace the cycles within us. This new moon is about planting seeds for self-love, strengthening family ties, and honoring the flow of intuition. If you’ve been neglecting your heart or resisting vulnerability, this is your cosmic invitation to nurture yourself and create a safe space.

  • Nurturing: Tend to your emotional and physical well-being with care.
  • Intuition: Trust your gut and listen to your inner voice.
  • Protection: Safeguard your heart and home with loving boundaries.
  • Cycles: Honor the ebb and flow of your emotions and life.
  • Family: Strengthen bonds with loved ones or your inner family.
  • Security: Build a sanctuary that reflects your soul’s needs.
  • Healing: Release past hurts through emotional release rituals.
  • Home: Create a cozy space to recharge and reflect.

What to Be Cautious Of With the Cancer New Moon

While Cancer energy is nurturing and intuitive, it can also lead to moodiness and over-sensitivity. Cancer’s deep emotions might make us cling to the past or become overly protective, risking emotional overwhelm. Be mindful of retreating too far into your shell—balance your self-care with openness to the world. Additionally, Cancer’s focus on home can tip into isolation, so nurture your connections while honoring your need for solitude.

This new moon also calls for balance between intuition and logic. While Cancer thrives on feelings, don’t ignore practical steps to support your intentions. As I’ve learned through my own journey with June’s warmth, there’s magic in trusting your heart—but wisdom grows when we ground our emotions with action, even amidst Cancer’s tides. Use this energy to heal, but stay engaged with your path.

Cancer and Duality

As a grey witch, I always seek the duality in every energy I work with, including the new moon and the zodiac sign it occupies. Let’s explore the duality of Cancer. On one hand, Cancer is nurturing, intuitive, and protective, offering a compassionate foundation for growth and a deep appreciation for emotional connection. This energy is perfect for healing, building security, and embracing vulnerability. On the other hand, Cancer can be moody and clingy, sometimes leading to emotional stagnation or over-dependence. This duality reminds us that while sensitivity is a gift, we must also release what no longer serves to create emotional freedom.

The new moon itself is a liminal space, embodying duality through its balance of light and shadow. It’s a time of beginnings, but those beginnings are born from endings—a cycle of death and rebirth. Just as I found harmony in Minnesota’s June duality, connecting with the shifting energies of nature, this Cancer new moon invites us to find balance between nurturing and letting go, between protection and openness.

Gemini: The Sign of Curiosity and Communication

Each new moon is amplified by the zodiac sign it occupies, and this time, we’re blessed with the lively, intellectual energy of Gemini. So, who is Gemini?

Gemini, symbolized by the Twins, is the third sign of the zodiac, governing those born between May 21 and June 20. As an air sign ruled by Mercury, Gemini embodies curiosity, communication, and a love for exchange—think lively conversations, new books, or the thrill of a fresh idea. Gemini energy is quick, adaptable, and multifaceted, encouraging us to explore multiple perspectives and build connections. It’s a mutable sign, meaning it’s all about flexibility, change, and bridging ideas, making it a perfect guide for navigating life’s dualities.

Gemini Constellation

Gemini is one of the prominent constellations in the northern sky, visible in the evening during late winter and spring. The constellation is symbolized by the twins Castor and Pollux, representing duality and unity. Its history traces back to ancient Mesopotamia, where it was linked to the story of twin gods, and later adopted by the Greeks. Gemini sits near Orion and the bright star Sirius, with its own notable stars, Castor and Pollux, marking the heads of the twins.

In Greek mythology, the constellation Gemini commemorates Castor and Pollux, the sons of Leda. Born from an egg after Zeus, disguised as a swan, seduced Leda, the twins shared a bond of brotherhood. Castor was mortal, while Pollux was immortal. When Castor died, Pollux begged Zeus to share his immortality, leading Zeus to place them together in the sky as the Gemini constellation, symbolizing eternal unity and duality. In another tale, the twins were seen as protectors of sailors, their stars guiding ships through stormy seas.

Meanwhile, the Aboriginal Australians viewed the Gemini stars as two young brothers or hunters, part of the Emu in the Sky story, using their positions to mark seasonal changes for hunting and gathering. In Babylonian mythology, the twins were linked to the god Marduk and his companion, representing wisdom and communication, guiding humanity’s intellectual pursuits.

Gemini: The Sign of Versatility and Connection

Gemini is the embodiment of airy versatility, ruled by Mercury, the planet of communication, intellect, and travel. This sign revels in the mental world—think spirited debates, new friendships, and the pursuit of knowledge. Gemini energy is dynamic, curious, and deeply connected to the mind, encouraging us to embrace change and engage with others. As a mutable air sign, Gemini is the breeze of the zodiac, offering adaptability, social grace, and a knack for weaving ideas into reality.

This new moon in Gemini is a time to embrace your inner storyteller, planting seeds that will grow into vibrant conversations and insights. Gemini, ruled by Mercury, invites us to focus on communication, learning, and the joy of connection. We may feel a surge of desire to explore new ideas, connect with others, and express ourselves freely. Use this energy to lift your voice, to seek wisdom, and to cultivate a sense of harmony that flows through your relationships and intellect.

Gemini: The Sign of Duality and Intellect

Gemini rules the third house in astrology, often called the house of communication, siblings, and short journeys. This house governs how we express ourselves, learn, and connect with our immediate environment, reflecting our ability to share and grow through interaction. Gemini, as the ruler of this house, teaches us that true wisdom comes from embracing duality and engaging with diverse perspectives. This sign encourages us to value our intellect, to celebrate our versatility, and to create a life that reflects mental richness.

Gemini energy is a reminder that we are multifaceted, capable of holding multiple truths. It’s the sign that helps us cultivate a strong sense of curiosity, grounded in openness rather than rigidity. During this new moon, focus on what sparks your mind, connects you to others, and invites you to explore. Gemini invites us to build a life that feels rich in every sense—intellectually, socially, and creatively.

Themes of the Gemini New Moon

Every new moon carries themes tied to its zodiac sign, and this Gemini new moon is all about curiosity, communication, and duality. We’ll feel a deep pull to engage with the world, to share our thoughts, and to embrace the interplay of opposites within us. This new moon is about planting seeds for intellectual growth, strengthening social bonds, and honoring the flow of ideas. If you’ve been holding back your voice or resisting new perspectives, this is your cosmic invitation to speak your truth and explore with an open heart.

  • Connection: Build relationships and strengthen your community ties.
  • Learning: Dive into books, courses, or conversations to expand your mind.
  • Expression: Create through writing, speaking, or creative projects.
  • Playfulness: Infuse joy and lightheartedness into your practice and life.

What to Be Cautious Of With the Gemini New Moon

While Gemini energy is lively and inquisitive, it can also lead to scattered thoughts and inconsistency. Gemini loves variety, which might make us jump between ideas or commitments, leaving projects unfinished. Be mindful of overthinking or becoming too detached—ground your curiosity with focus and follow through on your intentions. Additionally, Gemini’s duality can tip into indecision, so balance your exploration with clarity.

This new moon also calls for balance between connection and solitude. While Gemini thrives on social interaction, don’t neglect your inner world. As I’ve learned through my own journey with spring’s awakening, there’s magic in engaging with others—but wisdom often grows in quiet reflection, even amidst Gemini’s buzz. Use this energy to connect, but carve out space for yourself too.

Gemini and Duality

As a grey witch, I always seek the duality in every energy I work with, including the new moon and the zodiac sign it occupies. Let’s explore the duality of Gemini. On one hand, Gemini is curious, communicative, and versatile, offering a dynamic foundation for growth and a deep appreciation for intellectual exchange. This energy is perfect for exploring new ideas, building connections, and embracing change. On the other hand, Gemini can be scattered and indecisive, sometimes leading to restlessness or a lack of depth. This duality reminds us that while versatility is a gift, we must also anchor our thoughts to create meaningful outcomes.

The new moon itself is a liminal space, embodying duality through its balance of light and shadow. It’s a time of beginnings, but those beginnings are born from endings—a cycle of death and rebirth. Just as I found harmony in Minnesota’s spring duality, this Gemini new moon invites us to find balance between exploration and focus, between connection and introspection.
