The Capricorn New Moon: The Architect of Destiny and the Sacred Mountain

The first New Moon of the year arrives on Sunday, January 18, 2026, in the steadfast and ambitious sign of Capricorn. While the recent Wolf Moon had us looking inward at our emotional foundations, this New Moon shifts our gaze toward the horizon of our greatest ambitions. As the first lunar seeding point of 2026, this is the moment we stop dreaming about the future and start building the scaffolding to reach it.

This lunation activates the energy of the cardinal earth sign, Capricorn, bringing a grounding focus to themes of integrity, discipline, legacy, and long-term mastery. New Moons are a time of initiation and quiet planting; this one asks us to identify the “Mountain” we intend to climb this year and to commit to the steady, patient work required to reach the summit.

Let this Capricorn New Moon guide you to become the architect of your own destiny, honoring the wisdom of time and the power of a disciplined spirit as you lay the first stones of your 2026 legacy.

New Moon: The Silent Seed and the Void

Every month, the New Moon marks the beginning of a fresh lunar cycle, a time when the moon sits in darkness, invisible to the eye. This phase represents the void, the fertile soil, and the moment of pure potential. It is a sacred time for inward reflection and intention-setting, where the seeds we plant in the darkness of our spirit will eventually bloom under the light of the following full moon.

The New Moon is a call to begin again. It is the breath before the word, the stillness before the movement. Because this is the first New Moon of the calendar year, it carries the unique weight of “The Great Beginning.” It is the energetic launchpad for your entire 2026 timeline, urging you to get serious about your intentions and to ensure they are built on a foundation of truth rather than fleeting desire.

Capricorn: The Sign of the Mountain and the Mastery

Each new moon takes on the characteristics of the zodiac sign it inhabits. Capricorn, the tenth sign of the zodiac, is ruled by Saturn, the planet of time, karma, and structure. Symbolized by the Sea-Goat—a creature with the tail of a fish to navigate deep emotional waters and the hooves of a goat to scale the highest peaks—Capricorn embodies the duality of spiritual depth and material mastery.

As a cardinal earth sign, Capricorn is the initiator of tangible results. It doesn’t just want to talk about goals; it wants to see the blueprint, the budget, and the schedule. This sign governs the Tenth House of career, public reputation, and legacy, urging us to take responsibility for our lives and to act with the authority of someone who knows their worth and their purpose.

The Capricorn Constellation

In Greek mythology, Capricorn is linked to the god Pan, who is often depicted as partially goat-like. Pan is said to have the upper body of a human and the lower body of a goat. In one story, Pan dived into a river to escape the monster Typhon, but only transformed part of himself, becoming half goat and half fish. Zeus was amused by this and placed the image among the stars as the constellation Capricornus. The constellation is also sometimes associated with Amalthea, the goat that nursed Zeus after his mother saved him from his father, Cronos. Amalthea’s broken horn was transformed into the cornucopia, or “horn of plenty”.

Capricorn the mythical Seagoat

Capricorns are symbolized by the sea goat, a mythological creature with the body of a goat and tail of a fish. We often think of Capricorns as high achievers or business-oriented workhorses. This speaks to the goat aspect of their sea-goat symbol. Goats are scrappy, and some of them are capable of climbing to great heights. The fishtail portion of the sea-goat, on the other hand, holds the ocean and the vast, almost spiritual world that lies beneath it. This imagery speaks to Capricorn’s ability to navigate both the material and emotional realms. It’s the job of the Capricorn to strike a balance between these two realms of earthly achievements and spiritual truth.

The First New Moon of 2026: The Master Builder

The January New Moon is often called the “Initiator’s Moon.” Coming directly after the emotional release of the Wolf Moon, it serves as the cosmic “Monday morning” of the year. This name reminds us that true magic requires structure. While inspiration gets us started, it is the Capricornian qualities of persistence and discipline that actually bring our visions into physical reality.

The significance of this being the first New Moon of the year cannot be overstated. It acts as a Master Blueprint for the months to come. This is the moment to look at your New Year’s resolutions and strip away the ones that were made out of guilt or social pressure. Capricorn demands Integrity—only plant what you are actually willing to water, weed, and wait for. This is the moon for those ready to play the “Long Game” and build a life that lasts.

Themes of the Capricorn New Moon

This lunation brings the essential themes of discipline, authority, and legacy to the forefront, urging us to take command of our path with the maturity of a true master. Under this dark moon, we are invited to stop waiting for permission and to start acting as the primary authority in our own lives.

  • Radical Responsibility: This moon demands that we stop looking outward for excuses and start looking inward for solutions. Radical responsibility is the act of fully owning your current circumstances—even the ones that feel unfair—and realizing that you possess the sovereign power to change them through disciplined, consistent action. It is about shifting from a passive participant to the conscious creator of your reality, acknowledging that every choice you make today is a brick in the wall of your tomorrow.
  • Long-Term Strategy: Capricorn energy is the antithesis of the “quick fix.” This New Moon encourages us to lift our eyes from the immediate distractions of the day and shift our focus from “instant gratification” to “sustainable success.” It asks the piercing question: What will matter to you five years from now? By planning with a decade in mind rather than just a week, you align yourself with the slow, unstoppable power of the mountain, ensuring that the seeds you plant now have the root system necessary to weather any storm.
  • Boundaries as Power: In the realm of the Sea-Goat, a boundary is not a wall to keep people out, but a container to keep your magic in. This lunation teaches us to use the word “no” as a sacred tool of preservation, protecting our time, focus, and energy for the specific tasks that serve our ultimate summit. By setting firm limits on what (and who) gets access to your spirit, you create the quiet, concentrated environment required for true greatness to grow.
  • Integrity and Mastery: This is a call to move beyond “good enough” and strive for genuine excellence. Mastery is the result of honing your craft when no one is watching and ensuring that your external actions align perfectly with your internal values. This New Moon asks you to check the foundation of your intentions: are you building something that reflects your soul’s truth, or just something that looks good from the outside? True Capricorn mastery is found when your public reputation is a mirror of your private integrity.

What to Be Cautious Of

While Capricorn energy is incredibly productive, its shadow side can lead to coldness, perfectionism, or a “work-at-all-costs” mentality. Be wary of falling into the trap of Self-Criticism, where you judge your progress so harshly that you lose the joy in the journey. There is also a risk of Rigidity, where you become so focused on your “plan” that you stop listening to your intuition or the needs of your body. Lastly, beware of Status Obsession; ensuring your goals are born from your soul’s purpose rather than a desire to impress others or satisfy a “should.”

Shadow Work Questions

Use these prompts to journey into the darker, hidden corners of your ambition. Capricorn’s light is often sober and honest; use this moon to peel back the layers of your “public mask” and see what is truly driving your climb.

  • The Fear of the Summit: Where am I intentionally playing “small” or self-sabotaging because I am actually afraid of the weight of responsibility that comes with true success? Sometimes, we stay at the base of the mountain not because we lack the skill to climb, but because we aren’t sure we want to be the person who has to maintain the peak. Reflect on whether your “failures” are actually subconscious attempts to stay safe and hidden.
  • Decaying Structures: What “old structures,” outdated beliefs, or repetitive habits in my daily life am I still clinging to that actually block my ascent? We often try to build new lives on top of old, crumbling foundations. Identify the specific routines, relationships, or mental loops that have become too heavy to carry upward. What must be demolished so that a stronger scaffolding can be built?
  • The Wrong Mountain: Am I exhausting myself climbing a mountain that actually belongs to me, or am I trying to reach a summit that someone else—a parent, a partner, or society—chose for me? It is a tragedy to reach the top only to realize you don’t like the view. Dig deep into your motivations: Is your “ambition” fueled by your soul’s calling, or a desperate need for external validation and “status”?
  • The Chronos Connection: How can I cultivate a relationship with “Time” (ruled by Saturn/Chronos) that feels like a sacred partnership rather than a frantic race or a heavy burden? Many of us view time as an enemy to be beaten. Reflect on how you can shift into “deep time”—the understanding that things take exactly as long as they need to. Where are you rushing, and what would happen if you trusted the timing of your own evolution?
  • The Definition of Mastery: What does “Mastery” truly look like in my life, and what is the very first, smallest, most practical step I can take toward it today? Mastery is not a destination; it is a devotion to the process. Strip away the grand fantasies and look at the raw data of your life. What is one tiny, disciplined action you can commit to daily that will move the needle toward your legacy?

The Master Builder’s Prayer: An Invocation for Integrity

Beneath the first New Moon of 2026, I stand on the bedrock of my own potential.

I call upon the energy of the Architect and the wisdom of the Earth to guide my hand as I draft the blueprint for my year. I release the need for instant results and embrace the beauty of the long, steady climb. I honor the lessons of the past and the time it takes for greatness to take root.

I claim my authority. I claim my discipline. I claim my right to build a life that stands the test of time. May my boundaries be firm, my integrity be unshakable, and my spirit be as resilient as the mountain. I plant my intentions in this fertile darkness, knowing that with every patient step, I am already arriving.

And so it is.

Blueprint for Success Ritual

This ritual is designed to help you transition from the “dreaming” phase of the New Year into the “building” phase. It uses the element of Earth to solidify your intentions into the physical world.

Timing: Best performed on the night of January 18th, or within 48 hours of the New Moon. Tools Needed:

  • A piece of high-quality paper or cardstock.
  • A black pen (representing Saturn/Authority).
  • A small stone, rock, or crystal (Onyx, Obsidian, or even a pebble from your yard).
  • A single candle (Green for growth, Brown for grounding, or Black for protection).

Step 1: Clearing the Workspace

Before you begin, physically clear your desk or altar. Capricorn cannot build in chaos. Wipe down the surface with salted water or cedar smoke. Set your tools down intentionally. Light your candle and say:

“I clear the path for my highest work. I prepare the ground for my lasting legacy.”

Step 2: Drafting the Mountain (The Blueprint)

Sit in silence for a moment and visualize the “Mountain” of your 2026 goals. Don’t think about what you want; think about what you are willing to work for.

  • The Peak: On the top third of your paper, draw a large, bold triangle. At the very tip of this mountain, write your Primary Aim for the year in one clear sentence (e.g., “I am a successful, published author” or “I am financially sovereign and debt-free”).
  • The Foundation: Along the bottom edge of the triangle, write three Core Values. These are the “bedrock” that will keep you from falling when things get difficult. (Examples: Consistency, Integrity, Resilience).

Step 3: Laying the Stones (Practical Action)

Inside the belly of the mountain, draw three rectangular “Foundation Stones.” In each stone, write a practical, non-negotiable habit you will commit to during this lunar cycle.

  • Note: These shouldn’t be “results,” but “actions.” Instead of “lose weight,” write “walk for 20 minutes daily.” Instead of “make money,” write “spend one hour daily on my business plan.”

Step 4: The Stone Activation

Take your physical stone/crystal and hold it tightly in your dominant hand. Close your eyes and breathe into your Root Chakra (the base of your spine).

  • Visualize your goal at the peak of the mountain.
  • Feel the effort, the sweat, and the eventual triumph of the climb.
  • Transfer that energy—the grit and the determination—into the stone. Imagine the stone becoming incredibly heavy with the weight of your commitment.

Step 5: The Master Builder’s Invocation

While still holding the stone over your paper, recite the invocation with a firm, authoritative voice:

“I stand on the bedrock of my own potential. I am the Architect and the Builder. I release the fleeting and embrace the enduring. I honor the time it takes for greatness to take root. My boundaries are firm, my integrity is unshakable, and my spirit is as resilient as the mountain. As I lay this first stone, my ascent begins. And so it is.”

Step 6: Setting the Foundation

Place your paper on your altar or a safe shelf. Set the physical stone directly on top of the “Peak” you wrote. This “weights” your intention down into the physical realm.

Step 7: Closing and First Action

Extinguish your candle (don’t blow it out—snuff it, to keep the energy contained). To truly honor Capricorn, take one tiny, 5-minute action toward your goal immediately after finishing the ritual. Send that email, organize that one drawer, or write that first paragraph. This proves to the Universe you are ready to work.

Capricorn New moon and duality

Since, I am a grey witch every single energy I work with I look for the duality in that energy and how I can connect to it. This includes the new moon and the energy of the zodiac sign it currently is in. First, the energy of Capricorn we see duality not only in it’s symbol the sea goat but, also in one of the main themes Capricorn represents; ambition. The sea goat like we talked about earlier is a mythical being that literally represents the duality of the material realm and the emotional or mythical realm. Others even believe the sea goat represents the duality of human existence through evolution, starting in the sea and than moving upwards onto land. Than there is the duality of ambition. While ambition is a very wanted thing. It is pivotal to our motivation, getting things done, and thriving in our life. But, on the other hand it also can cloud our mind, narrow our view/vision, damage our relationships, and lead to burn out by not caring for ourselves properly.

Second, the new moon itself is all about duality and illuminating the night sky in both light and shadows. The new moon is all about rebirth, renewal, and the beginning of a new cycle, which puts you in a transitional liminal space, energy, and time. In order for you to be in a space to begin again, to transition, and be reborn you had to just come from an ending and death.

This new moon in Capricorn has another layer of duality with it being the last one of the year. This new moon in Capricorn ushers us across a threshold holding us in a unique pocket of liminal space. A pocket of time when we are still in one year but, just about to move to another year. From 2024 to 2025. From closing to opening. Ending to new beginning. Guiding us towards a new cycle and turning of the wheel to begin. Balancing us in both the seen and unseen, in frequency and matter, and the psychic and the physical as we do.

Final Thoughts for the Capricorn New Moon

As the first New Moon of 2026 fades into the stillness of the winter sky on January 18th, let it serve as a profound reminder that the climb itself is just as sacred as the summit. We often become so obsessed with the trophy at the top that we forget the character is forged in the ascent. This lunar cycle is a cosmic invitation to stop looking for shortcuts and instead pick up your tools with intention. It is a time to trust the quiet strength of your own bones and begin the patient, methodical work of building a life of substance—one that can withstand the winds of change because its foundations were laid in truth.

Under the velvet, dark sky of the Architect, you are being handed the silver pen to draft your own destiny. This is not a moment for fleeting wishes, but for deep, soul-level commitments. Use this “dark phase” of the moon to secure your boundaries, protect your vital energy from unnecessary distractions, and move into the remainder of the year with the steady, unyielding heart of a mountain. The void of the New Moon is not empty; it is a fertile space waiting for your command. How will you use this sacred silence to blueprint a legacy that outlasts the season and stands for years to come?

The New Moon in Sagittarius: Lighting the Path for 2026

The New Moon in Sagittarius arrives on Friday, December 19, 2025, at 6:45 a.m. CST. This powerful lunation—the very last New Moon of the calendar year—falls in the sign of the Archer, inviting us to look far beyond our current horizon, fire our most ambitious intentions, and prepare for the journey of 2026.

This New Moon activates the energy of the mutable fire sign, Sagittarius, bringing a focused intensity to themes of expansion, truth, philosophy, travel, and optimism. New moons are always a time of fresh beginnings and planting seeds, and this one asks us to gather the spiritual lessons of 2025 and use them as fuel to launch the grandest, most optimistic vision for the year ahead.

Let this New Moon in Sagittarius guide you to ignite your wildest truth, define your personal philosophy, and launch the first arrow of 2026, ensuring your highest aspirations are clearly set before the Winter Solstice turns the wheel.

New Moon: What It Is and Why We Honor It

Every month, the new moon brings the lunar cycle to its deepest, darkest point, cloaking the night in an absence of visible light. This phase marks a time of genesis, intention-setting, and renewal. It is when the seeds of desire are quietly planted in the fertile darkness, initiating the growth that will culminate at the full moon.

The new moon is a sacred time to pause, look inward, and define the trajectory of the next 28 days—and in this case, the entire coming year. This isn’t just a celestial event—it’s a call to dream bravely and commit to the steps needed to expand your life beyond its current limits.

This Final New Moon in Sagittarius carries the unique magic of the year’s end, blending lunar genesis with the season’s call to plot our future adventures. It’s a time to set intentions that are expansive, honest, and philosophically sound.

Sagittarius: The Sign of Truth and Expansion

Each new moon is shaped by the zodiac sign it falls in. This New Moon in Sagittarius (expansion, adventure) is activated while the Sun is also in Sagittarius. Who is Sagittarius?

Sagittarius, the ninth sign of the zodiac, spans November 22 to December 21, ruled by Jupiter, the planet of luck, abundance, and higher learning. Symbolized by the Archer or the Centaur, Sagittarius embodies the quest for meaning, adventurous travel, and an unwavering commitment to truth. As a mutable fire sign, Sagittarius is spirited, idealistic, and constantly moving toward a greater understanding. This sign governs the Ninth House of philosophy, long-distance travel, and higher education, urging us to define our personal belief system and live by it.

Sagittarius Energy in Myth and History

In mythology, the Centaur is often Chiron, the wise teacher and healer who guides heroes on their quests. This reflects the Sagittarian core theme: the integration of the raw, primal fire (the horse) with the clear-sighted, philosophical mind (the archer). The arrow symbolizes the direct trajectory of the spirit, always aimed toward a distant, noble goal—truth, freedom, or wisdom.

The Significance of the Final New Moon

As the last new moon of the 2025 calendar year, this lunation holds immense significance for intentional creation:

  • The Final Launchpad: This is your last, major spiritual opportunity to plant the seeds for the big, overarching themes of your 2026 journey. What belief or grand adventure do you want to define your new year?
  • Defining Your Philosophy: Sagittarius demands that we get honest about what we truly believe. The intentions set now are not just goals; they are a commitment to a higher code of conduct that will guide you through the next 12 months.
  • Igniting Optimism: This New Moon serves as an antidote to the winter gloom. Its fiery, Jupiter-ruled energy is fiercely optimistic, encouraging you to ignore doubt and aim your arrow at the impossible. Use this energy to feel excited about the path ahead.

Themes of the New Moon in Sagittarius

This Sagittarius New Moon brings themes of expansion, freedom, and truth, urging us to define our trajectory for the year ahead with boldness. We’ll feel a pull toward higher knowledge, travel, honest self-assessment, and optimistic belief.

  • Expansion: Setting intentions that require a major leap of faith or a significant growth period.
  • Truth/Honesty: Being radically honest about what you want and what you need to believe to get it.
  • Adventure/Travel: Dreaming up new experiences, literal or figurative journeys, and higher learning.
  • Belief: Committing to an optimistic, empowering philosophy that lifts you up.
  • Freedom: Releasing constraints, whether mental, physical, or spiritual, to live without limits.

What to Be Cautious Of With the Sagittarius New Moon

Sagittarius’s energy, when unchecked, can lead to over-promising, recklessness, or dogmatism. This New Moon might amplify a tendency toward self-righteousness, tactlessness, or a refusal to deal with necessary details.

Be wary of:

  • Tactless Truth: Sagittarius can speak its truth without care for others’ feelings. Ground your intention-setting in compassion.
  • Over-Idealization: Don’t shoot for goals so massive they bypass the necessary groundwork. Be idealistic, but anchor it with a first step.
  • Aversion to Detail: While your vision should be grand, remember that the Devil is in the details. Don’t ignore practical planning just to chase the big dream.

Sagittarius and The Quest

As a free witch, I cherish the relentless pursuit of meaning. Sagittarius embodies this—the light side is philosophical, generous, and inspiring; the shadow side is restless, judgmental, and commitment-phobic.

This New Moon demands that we align our quest with our current reality. What is the greatest spiritual adventure you can embark on in 2026? The task is to set a vision so compelling that the smaller struggles of the day become irrelevant, knowing they are just steps on the way to the ultimate prize.

The Archer’s Abundance Spell: Launching 2026 Wealth

This ritual utilizes the focused, aspirational energy of Sagittarius and the fertile darkness of the New Moon to clearly define and launch your intentions for abundance, wealth, and expansion in the coming year.

Best Performed: On Friday, December 19, 2025 (New Moon in Sagittarius).

I. Preparation: Gathering Your Tools

Gather these materials before you begin:

  • Candle: One Deep Blue (for Jupiter/Expansion) or Green (for Abundance) pillar candle.
  • Amulet: A piece of Turquoise, Amethyst, or Citrine (to hold your intention).
  • Incense/Herb: Sage (for clearing) and/or Nutmeg or Cinnamon (for luck and drawing wealth).
  • Paper & Pen: A clean sheet of paper and a pen with blue or gold ink.
  • A Single Coin: A shiny coin (representing financial wealth).
  • Focus Object: A small picture, symbol, or object representing your grand 2026 goal (e.g., a key to a new home, a globe for travel, or a picture of a desired business success).

II. Setting the Sacred Space

  1. Cleanse: Light your Sage and smudge your ritual space, moving the smoke clockwise. Say aloud: “I clear this space of all doubt, clutter, and limiting beliefs. Only clarity and abundance remain.”
  2. Ground: Sit comfortably. Hold your coin in your hands and focus on your breath. Visualize deep, earthy roots growing from your seat, grounding you while your mind (Sagittarius) reaches for the stars.
  3. Anoint the Candle: Take your blue or green candle. Using a safe oil (like olive or grapeseed), anoint it by rubbing the oil from the middle up (to draw things in) and then from the middle down (to draw things to you).
  4. Inscribe the Candle: Use a toothpick or sharp implement to carve your intention into the side of the candle. Use simple, powerful words like: PROSPERITY, ADVENTURE, EXPANSION, 2026 LUCK. Place your focus object next to the candle.

III. The Archer’s Abundance Launch Spell

This ritual focuses on aiming your energy directly at your goal.

  1. Writing the Intention Arrow (The Shaft):
    • Take your paper and pen. At the top, write a powerful statement beginning with the words: “For 2026, I am expanding…”
    • Write a list of at least nine specific, expansive, and ambitious intentions for abundance and growth in the new year. (Example: “I am expanding my income to $X amount.” “I am expanding my spiritual practice to include daily meditation.” “I am expanding my world through adventurous travel.”)
    • Be audacious! Sagittarius encourages you to aim high.
  2. The Archer’s Focus (The Draw):
    • Fold the paper three times toward you (to bring the intention closer). Place the paper beneath your candle.
    • Light the candle. As the flame catches, look into it and hold your coin and amulet in your non-dominant hand.
    • Close your eyes and visualize the coin transforming into a glowing, fiery arrow in your mind’s eye. This is your Sagittarian arrow of intent.
    • The Charge: Now, visualize yourself drawing the bowstring back, pulling the arrow tight, focusing all the year’s lessons, all your optimism, and all Jupiter’s luck into that single point of focus.
  3. The Launch (The Release):
    • Open your eyes and look at the flame. State the following incantation three times with deep conviction:

“By the darkness of the New Moon and the light of Jupiter’s grace, I define my vision for the year and claim my rightful place. This abundant arrow is forged in fire, aimed for 2026’s peak, All limiting stories are undone; my prosperous truth I now speak. I launch this wealth, I launch this joy, I launch this grand design, As the Archer aims for the horizon, so too, shall be mine. So Mote It Be!”

  1. The Sealing:
    • Hold your coin and amulet up to the candlelight, sealing your intentions within them.
    • Place the coin in your wallet or on your altar as a token of the energy you have launched. Carry the amulet with you daily.

IV. Closing and Integration

  • Meditation: Spend at least five minutes sitting in silence with the lit candle, feeling the expansive, optimistic energy of Sagittarius fill your space. Let your mind run free, dreaming without limits.
  • Let It Burn: Allow the candle to safely burn down completely (or snuff it and re-light it for nine days). As it burns, it sends your intent out to the universe.
  • Integrate: The Sagittarius lesson is about taking the first step on the journey. Before you leave your space, write down one small, actionable first step you can take tomorrow toward one of your big 2026 goals.

Your work is done. The arrow has been launched!

Working With The Ambitious, grounded, And Fertile Capricorn Buck Full Moon

We will be entering a new lunar phase this week; the full moon on Sunday July 21st. The full buck moon in capricorn graces our skies amongst the bounty of nature, the longer days of summer and the masculine fertility flourishing around us. This full moon is special as it is the second consecutive Full Moon in Capricorn as the June Full Moon was also in this grounded earth sign. This creates a continuation of the energy during the June Full Moon during this full moon in July. This means the intentions and manifestations set last month are going to be a continued focus this month for even greater success and accomplishment.

During this Full moon we will be focused on achievement, responsibilities and success. But, we may end up putting too much on our shoulders as a result, which leads to a crushing weight overwhelming us with burn out. We have to be realistic and rational about it all, and not demand more from ourselves or others than is actually possible right now. This full moon under Capricorn calls for a deeper connection to our nurturing environments and listening to the messages we are getting from our heart. If you’re feeling called to slow down, receive the message.

A Capricorn Full Moon is all about success, progress, achievement, and never taking “no” for an answer. We can see results from the work we’ve put in, we can hit new heights, make what we want happen, get recognition, and make progress on our path. We can feel connected to the path we’re on, and like we’re going in the right direction. We get clarity of our sacred contracts and purposes and how we will live in accordance with them. Join me in this guide to learn all about; Working with the Ambitious, grounding, And fertile Capricorn Buck Full Moon.

First, What is the Full Moon

Over the centuries, the Moon has played a significant role in different cultures and traditions. The full moon simply put is when the moon is completely illuminated in the sky and it has reached it’s peak in this lunar cycle in the sky. When the moon is completely illuminated it’s time for all to reach full expression. The full moon is the most powerful and potent time of the entire lunar cycle.

A full moon occurs when the transit (moving) Sun and Moon are in the exact opposite positions in the Zodiac (called an opposition). The full moon greatly affects humans and it’s no wonder it does because, there’s a scientific reason for this – we are made up of 60% or more of water. Full Moons are the peak point of the lunar cycle: at this time of the month, the light of the Sun is fully illuminating the Moon, and the luminaries are exactly opposing one another from our perspective on Earth. This potent alignment offers us opportunities to gain more awareness about what is moving in our inner and emotional world, and information previously uncertain or hidden could be revealed at this time.

With the moon being fully illuminated it creates this portal to some of the most potent energy to connect to for us to manifest our desires and dream life. This portal creates a connection to our peak creative energy and the deep seated creative passions we all have within us. This creative energy and power is the energy we need to actually do and create the things and lifestyle we need to manifest what we desire. With the new moon phase being about planting the seeds of what you want to manifest, the full moon is about actually doing the work and moving the energy to make your manifesting happen. The full moon allows you to bridge the connection between these energies and themes and bring them into your life while reminding you how important it is to have them in your life not only when the moon is illuminated in the sky for you to see.

There are so many ways to work with the full moon, to learn more about the basics of working with the full moon energy check out my blog post here and you can watch my class all about lunar magic. But, remember each full moon will be slightly different and have different practices to add and different ways to do it based on which zodiac sign the full moon is currently in at the time.

The Buck Moon

July’s Buck Moon name and spiritual meaning are connected to the male deer also called a buck. During the Buck Moon season, male deer have grown their velvety antlers nad have emerged to attract potential mates. As the size and strength of their antlers are signs of fertility to the females. They will fight other males to assert their dominance, show motivation, and win over females. The Buck Moon’s energy can bring passion, courage and a desire for action which can result in positive changes and surprises in our lives. This energy also brings with it a sense of increased ambition, motivation, and fertility to our lives this season.

As with most pagan names there will be different ones for each culture so below I listed any of the other names for the buck moon I could find across the Earth. The common theme among them is focusing on the bounty and fertility of nature right now.

  • Wyrt Moon (Celtic) Wyrt is an Old English word that means plant or herb. This is why you may sometimes see July’s Full Moon referred to as the Herb Moon.

So, Who is Capricorn?

As a cardinal earth sign, Capricorn is about initiating and building. Capricorn is steadfast, hard-working, goal-orientated and relentlessly responsible. Capricorn is ruled by Saturn. Saturn is the planet of bounds, borders, barriers, constraints and confinements. Saturn, is also the planet associated with time. This makes Capricorn also connected with history and tradition, and asks us to reflect on the environment we’re living in and the systems and structures that are in place.

Capricorn is the height of the Zodiac, the highest point, and this is why it relates to our goals, our aspirations, what we strive for, and the heights we reach in life. We see this in the mountain goat thriving in the peaks of mountains. Capricorn is an ambitious energy with grand ideals; full of potential and a feeling of self importance. Capricorn knows it is meant for something special and expresses itself in pursuit of that. But, unlike the other earth sign Taurus who measures their successes in money and wealth, Capricorn seeks power and control.

With it being a full moon as well it becomes a time of culmination and results. The Capricorn Full Moon is usually a time when we see the results of hard and smart work, and we can reach new heights, achieve, and succeed. That is; if we’ve done things the right way and for the right reasons.

This moon focus on where you’re feeling insecure, lack support, or are having challenges with resources, and work to find a way around, tackle core issues, or find wiggle room. With this first Full Moon in Capricorn, it is a time to be honest with ourselves as well, and recognise where we have not yet mastered aspects of our selves or lives, then take aligned action to rectify that.

Capricorn The Sea goat

Capricorn The Constellation Capricornus

In Greek mythology, Capricorn is linked to the god Pan, who is often depicted as partially goat-like. Pan is said to have the upper body of a human and the lower body of a goat. In one story, Pan dived into a river to escape the monster Typhon, but only transformed part of himself, becoming half goat and half fish. Zeus was amused by this and placed the image among the stars as the constellation Capricornus.

Capricorn The Ruler of Responsibilities

The hard-working sign values service, honor and public duty. Career, professionalism and reputation are extremely important to Capricorn, so the Moon here spotlights our need to succeed .Now is time to prioritize what you truly want to be remembered for and the work you’d like to contribute to the world. Capricorn is a sign that means business! Instead of being concerned with short-term satisfaction, you’ll be more inclined to dig in and focus on your long-term goals. Just like the mountain goat resides on top of the mountain, Capricorn energy feels its natural place is that of a leader, taking charge from the top. Because of this, during this full moon, you may feel empowered to take accountability for your actions or to simply step up and take charge somewhere in your life.

Capricorn The Sign of progress

The full moon in Capricorn always coincides with a moment of recognition and accomplishment. This is an aligned time to celebrate yourself and how far you’ve come. To take a look at all the progress you have already made. To stand up tall on your very own mountain, you have climbed to the top of and bask in your hard work to get there. It’s a time reflect on what worked on your climb up and what didn’t as well so, you can use that knowledge on your next climb up a mountain. To allow you a clear path and a greater chance of success going forward.

The Grounding Energy Of Capricorn

Capricorns is said to have a grounded, practical spirit. It is a sign associated with stability, groundedness, determination, hard work, and ambition. Capricorns are the last earth sign of the zodiac, and are said to embody the stable and nurturing qualities of their element. When the moon is in Capricorn it becomes a time to really ground into who you are, the direction you want to go, the path you will take, and duty to the world around you.

Themes Of Capricorn

We have talked a lot about who Capricorn is and how Capricorn can affect you and benefit you. Now let’s list all the topics to consider that correspond to the full Moon in Capricorn. Keep in mind that the full Moon relates to the continuation of your journey to manifest your desires and dreams. And this is especially strong this full moon with that continuation from the June moon and it being the second consecutive full moon in Capricorn. It is also a time to release all the things that no longer serve us and create blockage to our manifesting. It is the time to really truly nurture the seeds of intention you had planted during the new moon so, they can bloom and thrive. So, try and have any of your workings based on these topics be grounded in those seeds of intention you had planted on the new moon.

Also remember you have the abundance, and fertile energy of summer, the month of July, and the energy of the young buck looking for it’s mate to connect to as well.

Things To Look Out For With Capricorn

We may feel easily overwhelmed by responsibilities we have right now. We can feel the weight of them pushing us down, and we need to work on managing them better. We may need to work on saying no more, and leaving room for small breaks where we can.

We also need to be aware of stubbornness right now. Persistence can often becomes a double-edged sword and turn into stubbornness. While it empowers us to stand our ground it may make us resistant to alternative viewpoints or new directions. Capricorns’ unwavering commitment to high standards may also force us to be over critical, making it challenging for us to accept imperfections in ourselves and others right now.

Capricorn energy can sometimes be overprotective of itself as well. Being cautious with expression of words or emotions, in fear of moving away from the perfect ideal image of the all powerful leader that it deeply craves to embody. So, be cautious of that coming up right now and remember that a true leader is authentic in who they are and not in an image they want others to see.

Capricorn And Duality

Since, I am a grey witch every single energy I work with I look for the duality in that energy and how I can connect to it. This includes the full moon and the energy of the zodiac sign it currently is in. First, the full moon itself is all about duality as it is another time of transformation, transition, and rebirth. During this time we are pushed into a liminal space that forces us to look at the things, people, and places that have been obstacles or holding us back. This can be a thing of beauty and hope as well as a thing of pain and darkness which forces us into duality. Second, the energy of Capricorn we see duality not only in it’s symbol the sea goat but, also in one of the main themes Capricorn represents; ambition.

Light a gold, white, and green candle on your altar. If you don’t have gold, yellow works. If you don’t have any colored candles, 3 white candles will do just fine! Now, think about all the things that are and are not working for you/working in your best interest. Think about and focus on the things that are working in your life becoming more abundant and focus on the things that are not working being removed and no longer there. Once you feel them being removed and no longer blocking you blow out the candles one at a time and go journal your action plan to remove unwanted things, people, or habits from your life to thrive and have an life of true abundance.

The things that hold me back from being my true self, accomplishing my goals, and having endless success. I release the emotional pain that I carry with me each and every day. Affecting my heart, my actions, and my reactions. I release and heal the wounds that prevent me from feeling love, worth, and anything but trauma and the sting of karma. I release these things not only from this life but all past lives, and dimensions. I release all blocks keeping me tied to karma and trauma. Working With The Loving, Bright, Vital, And Balancing Energy Of June

Every single month has its own energy, and frequencies we can connect to that are unique. When we connect to the month’s energy and frequencies we can find ourselves living a much more aligned, and magical life. We have the ability to amplify our magical workings, intentions, and manifesting. Let’s talk about how to do that with the month of June.

An explosion of vitality shines brightly down on the Earth this month from the Sun. And that joy of living is transferred to the spirit in everything all around us like; in the activities of humans, like camping, BBQS, concerts, community events, and an increase in weddings this month. In the full hustle and bustle of nature with young running around now, gardens fully growing, and flowers blooming. We see it even in celebrations this month. Like the arrival of midsummer with Litha and the longest day of the year when we observe the height of the sun. The celebration of all kinds of love, with the celebration of the LGBT community being Pride month. Then the focus of fatherly love on father’s day. This month has also been known from antiquity in rome and greece to be the best and most popular month to get married. Love is around every corner in June; sexual love as well as self-love through your self worth, fatherly love and romantic love through marriage and relationships.

The month of June continues the fiery and passionate energy of May with the sun intensifying that energy and the days beginning to get longer. The month of June is vibrant, energetic, creative, lustful, fertile, joyous, bright, loving, and brimming full with the vitality of the sun. Once the celebration of Litha happens, the days begin to get longer, and we enter the second half of the year; this month becomes all about self improvement, reevaluating our goals and intentions, organization, cleaning/cleansing, and performing magic for strength and motivation.

In the month of June we see some themes from both May and April continued as well. It’s a time like the previous months to honor the sun’s power, celebrate the Earth’s abundance, and harness the energy of growth and vitality. This month continues to be a time to focus on positive change, growth and new opportunities. As well as taking the time to celebrate under the vibrant rays of the sun your successes you have already had this yearly cycle. This month is a time to truly focus on aligning ourselves with the natural rhythms of the solar system and the turning of the wheel through the brightest rays of the sun we will have access to throughout the year. This month is a time to align ourselves with the sense of balance that we are pushed into with it also being the midway mark of our chronological year.

Make sure to use those energies and themes to nourish your seeds planted in March, that you watered in April, and you Nourished in May. Focus on making sure you are allowing the joyous, loving and Vital rays of the sun to shine onto your manifestations, intentions, and goals for the year. Allow them to soak up those rays so they can flourish, and grow even bigger than you ever imagined during the brightest and most vibrant month of the year.

History Of The Month Of June

The month of June is named after the Roman Goddess of Marriage, Juno. It may also be derived from the Roman word iuniores meaning “young ones”. Some scholars also believe it is also possible that this month was dedicated to the Junior branch of the legislature. June is known as the sixth month of the Gregorian Calendar, and June is considered the first month of summer.

The month of June also featured other prominent symbols like hera, Danu, and even Zeus where we see balance in this month again. Zeus, the ‘father of all gods’, was honored in mid-June (mid-summer) in Ancient Greece, which is the reason many believe the origins of Father’s Day, our honoring and celebration of fathers this month, is actually associated with this god.

Zodiac Signs For The Month Of June

People born in June are either Geminis (May 21–June 20) or Cancers (June 21–July 22):
Geminis are represented by the Twins, Geminis are said to be smart, curious, quick-witted, and social butterflies. They are also known for juggling many passions, hobbies, careers, and friend groups.
Cancers are represented by the Crab, Cancers are said to be intuitive, caring, protective, and empathetic. They are also said to be able to exist in both emotional and material realms, and are willing to do whatever it takes to protect themselves emotionally.

Sacred Days And Celebrations In June

Every Single month has sacred and important days and celebrations to help you connect to the energies of the month. Plus they usually are a lot of fun to take part in! Let’s talk about a couple of the sacred days and celebrations for the month of June.

Litha/ Midsummer

The Summer Solstice; the longest day of the year! This pagan holiday, also known as Litha, is all about celebrating the light in our lives the sun! As we look around us and see in nature our gardens starting to sprout, flowers blooming, the birds flying around, the bees zooming about pollinating, and the grass coming back from winter we know we have the warm, bright, and vibrant sun to thank for it. Litha is a time to celebrate the abundance and beauty of the Earth. It truly is the celebration of the fullness of nature and the strength and power of the sun.

It’s another fire festival like the one we celebrated last month Beltane. But, it also is a time when we both celebrate the Sun while also remembering that darker days are coming. With the realization that the days will steadily begin to grow shorter; and that this is a fire festival it becomes another sabbatt when we get to connect to our passions, desires, and the things that truly bring us joy in life.

Litha is a pagan holiday and also one of Wicca’s eight sabbats that takes place on the summer solstice, the longest day of the year. It’s also known as Midsummer and is celebrated around June 21 in the Northern Hemisphere. The word “Litha” comes from the Anglo-Saxon word for “midsummer”. To learn more about this sacred celebration and day keep an eye for my upcoming blogpost and my Free event!

Father’s Day

Father’s Day is a holiday honoring one’s father, as well as fatherhood, paternal bonds, love from the divine masculine and the influence of fathers in society. In Catholic countries of Europe, it has been celebrated on 19 March as Saint Joseph’s Day since the Middle Ages. Zeus, the ‘father of all gods’, was honoured in mid-June (mid-summer) in Ancient Greece, which is the reason many believe he is the origin of Father’s Day in that region as well.

In more modern times in the United States there are two different versions of the history of father’s day. According to some accounts, the first Father’s Day was celebrated in Washington state on June 19, 1910. A woman by the name of Sonora Smart Dodd came up with the idea of honoring and celebrating her father while listening to a Mother’s Day sermon at church in 1909. She felt as though mothers were getting all the acclaim while fathers were equally deserving of a day of praise. The other story of the first Father’s Day in America happened all the way on the other side of the country in Fairmont, West Virginia on July 5, 1908. Grace Golden Clayton suggested to the minister of the local Methodist church that they hold services to celebrate father’s after a deadly mine explosion killed 361 men.

Pride Month

LGBTQ Pride Month is a commemoration of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer community that is part celebration and part protest. It is often associated with massive parades and parties that honor the community’s joys and accomplishments. This month is really all about the idea of celebrating all kinds of love no matter how it may look to others. But the rallies, marches and political actions can be just as important to draw attention to the issues still facing the community. LGBTQ Pride Month traces its roots back to the 1969 Stonewall riots, which started on June 28, 1969. The first Pride marches started the following year, on June 28, 1970, to commemorate the multi day riots, and these one-day celebrations eventually evolved into a full month of LGBTQ pride.

Other Sacred Days

  • June is Black Music Month, Caribbean Heritage Month, and LGBT Pride Month
  • The first 12 days of June are sacred to Hera
  • Father’s Day is the 3rd Sunday in June
  • The Summer Solstice is celebrated on or around June 21st in the Northern Hemisphere (it is the Winter Solstice in the Southern Hemisphere)

Magical And Witchcraft Themes For June

In witchcraft, June is a time of abundance, vitality, and celebration. As the height of summer approaches in the Northern Hemisphere, witches embrace the warmth and energy of the sun. As we talked about above June is associated with the summer solstice, also known as Midsummer or Litha, a time of celebration marking the longest day of the year. Which connects us to themes like energy, motivation, self improvement, strength, balance, duality, and vitality. We also see many witches using this time to perform spells and rituals for fertility, abundance, and prosperity by connecting to the nourishing energy of the sun and the vibrancy and movement of life all around us in nature.

The Gods And Goddesses Of June

With every season and month there are certain themes, magic, and energies we have the ability to connect to including deities. Everyone works with and views deity energy a little differently. Whether you view them as archetypes of the human consciousness, representations of the source energy, or as being entities on their own, there are certain deities that now is the time to connect to and honor them in the most sacred and amplified way.

During this month a few deities take center stage because they have festivals or sacred days during this month to help you connect with them in a very intimate way. The deities that are going to be the best for you to connect to right now are going to be those who represent love, abundance, personal development, balance, courage, personal power, and the Sun. You can also work with any deities connected to sacred days like Litha. Below we will talk about some of the deities you can work with this month.

Iris

First up in honor of pride and the connection to the rainbow let’s talk about the greek goddess Iris. Iris, is the Greek Goddess of the Rainbow and Messenger of the Gods, and she has an important place in Greek mythology. Known for her vivid look and elegant presence, Iris is the divine connection between gods and mortals. But Iris is more than a messenger. She symbolizes the radiance, brilliance, and enchantment of rainbows, a sight that humans have been charmed by for a long time. Iris is different from other goddesses. Other gods sometimes meddle with human affairs out of fun or interest. But Iris is devoted to her mission. She shows loyalty and adherence to duty, never stopping in her mission to keep communication between Olympus and Earth open.

Even though she is most well known as the goddess of rainbows and messenger to the gods; she is also known as a goddess of the sea and sky. In some regions she is depicted as a virgin goddess and was believed by the coastal-dwelling Greeks to replenish the rain clouds with water from the sea. She was often described as Hera’s personal messenger and one of her handmaidens. Since this month is all about love and the first part of it is dedicated to Hera this makes it a really great month to work with her! To learn more about her you can read all about her in my previous blog post here. Plus get a spell to connect with her in her post in deity a day series for FREE on patreon here.

Juno

Let’s talk about Juno the goddess June is named after next. Juno, the Roman goddess of marriage, the family, and childbirth was a paramount figure embodying the sanctity and power of matrimonial union and the family. The Roman goddess Juno is among the first gods and goddesses of ancient Rome who is in charge of the women’s lives in the state. Juno’s symbol, which is a peacock, represents her watchful vigilance and her role as the protector of the community. It is assumed that the term “Juno” meant “the young one” because of her association as the goddess of the new and waxing moon. This celestial connection perhaps implying the idea of growth and beginnings, aligns with her domains.

Today, it is accepted that the Roman goddess Juno has the title “Regina” meaning Queen which gives her the title of the “Queen of the Gods.” Juno, being a multifaceted deity, was also the wife and sister of Jupiter, the King of all the Roman gods. She was often represented as the female counterpart to Mars the god of war, highlighting her influence in both the domestic and political spheres. Although the Roman goddess Juno had dominion over family, marriage, and childbirth, she is often depicted to be in a warlike stance, an illustration that is often favored upon by Roman soldiers.

Hera

Next up we have another queen of the gods but, this time from greece who is very closely linked to Iris as well, Hera. Hera, the queen of the gods, holds a significant place in Greek mythology. Hera, was born to the Titans Cronos and Rea. Hera’s marriage to Zeus, known as the hieros gamos or sacred marriage, stands as a central aspect of her mythology. Together, they symbolized the union of sky and earth, with all the gods presenting gifts to celebrate this momentous occasion.

Hera’s legendary jealousy and relentless pursuit of Zeus’ extramarital affairs are well-documented. As her husband’s infidelities became apparent, she unleashed her wrath on his lovers, seeking retribution for their trespasses. From nymphs to mortal women, Hera’s persistent and often vengeful nature showcased a dimension of her personality that was both formidable and unyielding. Hera played a pivotal role in the Judgement of Paris, an event that sparked the Trojan War. Alongside Athena, Aphrodite, and Eris where we see her jealous on full display. To learn more about this story and hear a detailed account. I retell it here in my class on the dark goddess Eris.

There are many connections she has with other deities of the pantheon as well including her role in the birth of Artemis and Apollo. And her connection to the goddess of rainbows Iris. Who was often described as Hera’s personal messenger and one of her handmaidens. She is often depicted next to her in many pieces of artwork and in myths. Hera even supported the legendary hero Heracles, commonly known as Hercules, and aided him during his trials. Hera’s interactions with other gods and goddesses shaped the course of mythology and played a significant role in several legendary stories.

Danu

Danu a celtic goddess, also known as Anu or Dana, she represents the divine maternal figure and her influence spread throughout Eastern Europe to Ireland. Danu was worshipped as a goddess of fertility, wisdom, and the wind. She nurtured the gods and she adopted became known as; the Tuatha Dé Danann, the Irish pantheon associated with the fairy folk.

Danu played a vital role in Celtic cosmology, embodying the nurturing and fertile aspects of femininity. As a goddess of fertility, she was associated with the abundance of the land and the growth of crops. Danu was also revered for her wisdom and connection to the wind. It was believed that she possessed profound knowledge, acting as a guide for the gods and the mortal inhabitants of the Celtic world. According to ancient Celtic beliefs, Danu not only nurtured the gods but also served as a protector and sustainer of life. if you want to explore more with Danu join my sacred circle on patreon to get access to her story in Divine Tales Thursdays.

Zeus

Zeus, the Greek god of the sky, is considered the ruler, protector, and father of both gods and humans. Known for his ability to control thunderstorms and powerful weather phenomenal. Zeus was the sister and husband to Hera. Zeus also had numerous extramarital affairs, often assuming animal forms to seduce his lovers and these affairs had significant impact on the greek mythology and the other deities.

Zeus was the son of Cronus and Rhea, two powerful titans. Cronus, fearful of being overthrown, swallowed his children at birth. However, Rhea managed to save Zeus by hiding him on the island of Crete. As Zeus grew up in secrecy, he became determined to overthrow his father and free his siblings. With the help of his mother and the Titan Metis, Zeus devised a plan to make Cronus regurgitate his swallowed children. Upon defeating Cronus and the titans, Zeus became the ruler of the world and the heavens. Zeus presided over the council of gods and playing a crucial role in maintaining order and justice. He was revered as the protector and father figure of gods and humans alike. Which is why I listed him here in the list for the month of June. Many scholars feel that father’s day being this month may be tied to honoring him as the father figure to all. If you want to explore more with him head to patreon to read his post in the deity a day series here.

Other rituals and spell workings that would be powerful to perform during the month of June will be based on Love, sex, and divine union. The month of June starts with the continuation of the fiery and passionate blaze of sex and co creation with Beltane happening last month in May. That energy is felt throughout the entire month and reignited in the energy of Litha. You see it in nature even as the bees are busy pollinating flowers, the animals are mating, and humans are all about love and marriage this month with weddings happening all the time. I myself got married this month. So, take the time to really allow yourself to access your true desires and passion. By expressing your love and union through your physical bodies this month by doing some sex magick rituals or spells. I personally love sex magic within my marriage it really strengthens our bond, and you get access to some really magically connections.

Duality And The Month Of June

Since, I am a grey witch I look for the duality in every single energy I work with including sacred times like a month of the year like June. June is really just overflowing with duality in balance and in almost every sense of the energy. First, let’s look at chronologically where this month lands, literally right in the middle. This really does put us into quite a liminal space of time. We seem to be struggling between celebrating coming this far into the year and understanding we also are on the way towards the end. I don’t know about you guys but, for me my desire to create, ideas for new projects, and a refueling of the passions for my goals really comes alive in this month. But, than I also feel the pressure of completing my goals by the end of the year which will be here sooner than I usually think.

Secondly, similarly to being in the middle of the chronological year this month also connects us to the sacred day of Litha and the sun. Which is the longest day of the year and when we greet the sun on it’s brightest and most potent day of the year. To then immediately feel it begin to fade and weaken when the sun sets and moon rises. It’s a fleeting yet potent time of transformation, rebirth and death happening all at once under the bright rays of the sun. Allowing us access to a very liminal space that shines with the bright rays of the sun while being overshadowed by the long coming night that is winter around the corner.

I could keep talking about the duality of June for much longer but, the last thing I will touch on is the duality we experience in the energy of love that is overflowing in June. When it comes to working with the energy of love I am sure some light workers will argue with me until the end of time that it’s all just wanted or positive energy. But, I disagree in order to love fully and unconditionally you must first do the work to allow the space to feel and receive that level of energy. This for most is a very uncomfortable, dark, and hard process. On top of that if you are working with the energy of love in the sense of a relationship, marriage, or union that means you have to be willing to experience some uncomfortable conversations. To go through some unwanted and uncomfortable feelings to grow together as well and fully experience what love is meant to do; heal, transform and assist you in evolution.

Allow the joyous, loving and Vital rays of the sun to shine onto you this June

We talked about many things in this blogpost including the history, some celebrations, the different energies and magical themes we can work with during this month, how to connect to those energies, deities we can honor and worship, and how to work with the magic of June. Make sure to use those energies and themes to nourish your seeds planted in March, that you watered in April, and you Nourished in May. Working With The Adventurous, Expansive, Idealistic, And Freeing, Sagittarius Full Moon

We will be entering a new lunar phase this week; the full moon. The Full Flower Moon in Sagittarius graces the skies amidst the vibrant blossoms of spring and right before the heat and activity of summer. This month in May we find the full moon in the adventurous, expansive, visionary, idealistic and freeing sign of Sagittarius. Unlike the New Moon, which is about starting something new, the Full Moon is about reflecting on what we planted almost six months ago now, and how it’s coming to fruition. It urges us to consider what’s next. You’re being pushed to pursue a LEAP of faith. Take a moment to get in touch with your true, deepest desires, and give yourself permission to dream bigger than you ever have. It’s a great time to reassess the year and see if your actions still align with your intentions.

The fullness of this sagittarius moon encourages us to pause and appreciate the moment as it is. It urges us to stop and smell the flowers blooming now around us. Sagittarius, is a sign ruled by Jupiter, which amplifies its adventurous spirit, quest for knowledge, and desire for truth. And this Sagittarius full moon on May 23, 2024; specifically urges you to connect with your inner voice and start living with more authenticity and truth to allow expansion and true freedom.

We spend much of our time “what if-ing” ourselves and envisioning the worst-case scenario; but during a sagittarius full moon your mind will start considering all the possibilities of a situation rather than just focusing on the potential roadblocks. The full Moon in Sagittarius has the power to help you understand which fears need to stay and which ones should go. Full moon’s always bring added illumination so pay attention to any breakthroughs you have around what’s stopped you moving forward with your plans. Full moons are also about release, so whatever has been stopping you from taking the leap, it’s time to kick it to the curb.

Let me show you in this post the flames of the full moon in the fire sign sagittarius. And how to connect to this adventurous, expansive, visionary, idealistic and freeing energy. You can use it to harness the most potent energy for us to release fears, find hidden truths, and manifest a life full of happiness, knowledge, and adventure today!

There are so many ways to work with the full moon, to learn more about the basics of working with the full moon energy check out my blog post here. But, remember each full moon will be slightly different and have different practices to add and different ways to do it based on which zodiac sign the full moon is currently in at the time.

    So, Who Is Sagittarius?

Sagittarius, represented by the Archer, is known for its optimistic, enthusiastic, and adventurous spirit. Sagittarius is represented by the symbol of the archer, who aims far, and the mythological creature, centaur, who is half man and half horse. It bridges the gap between the Earth and Heaven because the centaur is the learned healer whose higher intelligence forms a bridge between Earth and Heaven. Sagittarius is a mutable fire sign ruled by Jupiter, the planet of expansion and abundance, Sagittarius brings the energy of growth, exploration, and optimism into everything it touches.

As the mutable (adaptable) Fire sign of the Zodiac, Sagittarius rules over communication, action, and passion. Fire is all about passion and inner motivation, and Sagittarius sparks that inner drive within us to learn, experience, grow and inspire. It can be a good time to pick back up an old idea, an old big plan, or to reconnect with the big picture in ways we have before. This can be a good time to redo and revise.

Sagittarius was the one who would leave the zodiac, and wander far to obtain new wisdom, and perspective to bring back and teach others what they learned. Things To Look Out For With Sagittarius

Since Sagittarius is the sign that rules our beliefs and we can get really passionate about that. This can lead to fights if we don’t keep an open mind with others in our lives. So, we need to make sure we’re listening properly. If we are, this can improve communications and we can feel more understood. With sagittarius also being the happy sign of the zodiac we need to be careful that we don’t get too lost in feeling happy that we choose to not face reality and end up making situations worse than they need to be.

Sagittarius And Its Connection To Chiron

In astrology, the Sagittarius sign is represented by a centaur named Chiron holding a bow and arrow. Because of this, It is also sometimes called the archer sign.

First, what is a Centaur? Centaur’s were creatures in Greek Mythology that had the upper body of a human man and the lower body, including all four hooves, of a horse. Many Centaurs were wild and boisterous creatures known to allow their animal nature to have control. The Centaur is a great representation for Sagittarius because of it’s balance between the passionate, wild animal nature and the soul searching, purpose driven nature of humans. The most famous Centaur Chiron, from later Greek Mythology, was known to be a wise man and a healer. In Greek Mythology, it was Chiron who taught humanity the constellations. That’s huge. Chiron is our celestial teacher. On top of that, Many well known Greek gods and goddesses looked to him for spiritual advice, all of this is why he became associated with the sign Sagittarius. To learn more about his tragic story from beginning to end, who he is, and how the wounded healer can help you heal; you can read about him in my previous blog post here.

    The Flower Moon

The May full moon is also called the Flower Moon for pretty obvious reasons. As we make our way towards summer, the trees and bushes seem to overflow with blooms. The name comes from the Algonquin tribes of what is now the northeastern United States, who called it the Flower Moon because of the abundant flowers that bloom at this time of year. While all full moons can be a time of great potential and magic, witches and spiritual teachers around the world often cite the Full Flower Moon as one of the most powerful. As Mother Earth is now in full spring bloom, this is a potent time for manifestation, intention setting, and new possibilities.

    Sagittarius And Duality

Since, I am a grey witch every single energy I work with I look for the duality in that energy and how I can connect to it. This includes the full moon and the energy of the zodiac sign it currently is in. First, the full moon itself is all about duality as it is another time of transformation, transition, and rebirth. During this time we are pushed into a liminal space that forces us to look at the things, people, and places that have been obstacles or holding us back. This can be a thing of beauty and hope as well as a thing of pain and darkness which forces us into duality. Second, the energy of Sagittarius many would think is all just a positive, jovial, and optimistic energy. But, sagittarius is also about adventure and expansion which isn’t always a happy, optimistic thing. In order to actually truly go on an adventure we have to let go of any fear, and expectations, to allow us to just aimlessly wander, be present and experience the adventure. To let go of fears and expectations we must first acknowledge them which can be a rough and fiery thing for us do.

    Full Moon Prayers or Affirmations

Some prayers or affirmations you can state with the full moon are:

I release all that does not serve my highest good.
I illuminate the things blocking my path to my desires.
I release all negative energy, feelings and thoughts that are not serving me.
I release the belief that I am not worthy or capable of manifesting anything that I want.
I call in the energy of the full moon to cleanse my field of anything that is not aligned with my higher purpose.

    Full Moon Fire Release

One fun way to combine the energy of the full moon and the element of fire under this Sagittarius full moon is by doing a paper burning ritual.

Sit quietly for a few moments and reflect on the intentions you want to set and what you would like to release, for this full moon cycle. Answer these journal prompts:

    Identify Limiting Beliefs

What beliefs do I hold about myself or my abilities that might be limiting my potential?
Are there any negative thoughts that frequently come to mind when I think about achieving my goals?

    Explore Past Experiences

Are there past experiences that still affect my confidence or decision-making today?
What events in my life have shaped my self-image, and how might they be holding me back?

    Examine Fears and Doubts

What fears come up when I consider pursuing my goals, and where do they come from?
How do these fears manifest in my actions or inaction?

Next, simply write down what you want to release with the full moon based on the questions you just pondered.

Then, over a fire safe bowl or cauldron burn your paper with a lighter or the flame of a lit candle. As the flame overtakes your paper, observe the way it moves and meditate on your intention of releasing.

Dispose of the ashes by offering them to the earth, burying them, or pouring them into a stream of running water. Or you can keep them to make into black salt later! ( To learn how check out my facebook page) For added potency you can do this at bonfire as well!

    Fire Gazing Ritual

Fire gazing is a powerful ritual that will connect you to the energy of Sagittarius with clarity and intention. It can be used as a form of meditation, contemplation, manifestation, or simply to clear the mind. Fire gazing involves looking into the flames of a fire and allowing yourself to connect with your inner wisdom. It can help you gain clarity on what you want to manifest in the coming months, and look at the successes you have to celebrate from past months. What you see in the flames will guide you through your journey. Fire gazing also helps to bring harmony and balance into your life, allowing you to stay connected with yourself and those around you. Additionally, it can be used as a form of meditation, allowing for deeper levels of concentration and relaxation.

Fire gazing is a practice which involves sitting in front of a fire or flame and contemplating or connecting with the force within the flames. Fire gazing rituals are meant to help open up an individual’s spiritual self, allowing them to tap into powerful inner knowledge. It is believed to aid in elevating energy levels, calming the mind and putting oneself in a trance-like state.

Fire gazing is a form of meditation, but with an added layer of intensity. By allowing yourself to be fully present and concentrate on the flame of a fire, you are able to drift off from your physical reality, discover hidden parts of your soul and draw in inspiration from the otherworldly realm. Fire gazing can be an effective tool for connecting with one’s inner divinity, providing moments of peace in noisy environments and releasing negativity and guilt.

    How to do fire gazing

First get yourself into sacred container and set up whatever form of a flame you are using whether it be a candle, fireplace, or bonfire. While setting up your source of fire and flame focus on the intention and goal you have for this fire gazing session.

Next, you should focus your attention on the natural light of the fire and allow yourself to enter into an altered state of consciousness as you gaze into the flames while engaging in rhythmic breathing techniques like boxed breathing for example.

Once you feel your attention is focused on the light of the flames. Then, you can relax yourself and stare into the flames. Allow your intuition and mind’s eye to find images and omens, and allow yourself to be open to the messages that come through.

You can also energetically toss your worries from the past month into the flame, letting them burn away and be released.

Intention setting Ritual To honor May’s Sagittarius Full Moon

This ritual can be used to get yourself into sacred container under the silvery illuminating rays of the moon. It will allow you to bring in intentions of adventure, optimism, expansion, learning, expression, authenticity, and purpose in your life. And also allow you to release any blockages not allowing you to take the leap of faith you need in your life under this sagittarius full moon.

Set up a sacred container: Find a quiet, outdoor location where you can be undisturbed. Create a sacred container by setting up a small altar with candles, crystals, and other objects that correspondence with the sign of Sagittarius.

Ground and center: Take a few deep breaths and allow yourself to connect with the energy of the earth. Visualize roots growing down from your feet and into the earth, grounding you and centering your energy.

Cast a circle: Cast a magic circle and invite the spirits of the earth, air, fire, and water to join you in your ritual. You can also include any other entities you would like to work with like the energy of Sagittarius and deities connected to the month of May.

Offer gratitude: Take time to reflect on the blessings in your life, and offer thanks to the divine forces that have brought abundance and prosperity into your world.

Set intentions: Use the energy of the Full Moon to set intentions for adventure, optimism, expansion, learning, expression, authenticity, and purpose in your life. Write down your intentions on a piece of paper and offer them to the Moon, or speak them aloud, allowing the energy of the Full Moon to amplify your intentions.

Release negativity: Take a moment to release any negative thoughts or emotions that may be holding you back. Visualize them leaving your body and being absorbed by the earth, allowing yourself to feel lighter and more free.

Dance and celebrate: Move your body in celebration of the Full Moon and all of your current and past successes, allowing yourself to connect with the energy of the universe and express your gratitude and joy.

Close the ritual: Thank the spirits for their presence and guidance, and close your ritual and circle with a prayer or other words of gratitude.

    Conclusion

However you choose to work with, connect to, or celebrate, the full moon in the adventurous, expansive, visionary, idealistic and freeing sign of Sagittarius. Follow your intuition, and adventurous spirit to guide you the rest of this lunar cycle to finish growing your seeds of manifestation. New Moon What Is It And Why We Honor It?

Every month, the New Moons carry us over the threshold of a new beginning. So, let’s talk about the new moon in general before we dig into the depths of what a Taurus moon can do for you and your life. The new moon is the time to reflect and cleanse your energy. It is a time to set your intentions for what you wish to attract this lunar cycle. Every intention set requires action and energy from your part as well.

The new moon energy is there to support you in manifesting what you want. The new moon is a time to allow new ideas and energy to flow with you. It is a time to honor new beginnings, and the turning over of a cycle. Think of these intentions as seeds you are planting for this lunar cycle to be ready to harvest by the full moon.

Use this time to rest, reflect, and plant what you will grow just as your ancestors across many cultures did while there was little light in the night sky for them to use. Each New Moon is unique, offering its own magic within each month.

Themes For The Taurus New Moon

Every New Moon contains its own themes, which are related to the sign that it falls under. This time, we experience the New Moon in the purposeful, prosperous, stable, relaxing, anchored, earth sign of Taurus the bull. Let’s explore some of the themes and energies of Taurus deeper below.

Taurus The Sign Calling You To Be Present

Taurus is a fixed sign. It roots into presence, and sustains what’s here and now. The Taurus New Moon is often a time to relax, indulge, and take it easy. No doubt life has been spinning SO fast around you recently? It’s because, we’re coming out of a high energy, intense, passionate period with the previous Moons, and this is now a time to pull back. We can take a break, chill out, and don’t want to fill up every moment of our lives with something to do. By standing still and taking time to rest during this New Moon, presence will form. And in that presence; you’ll find what matters and maybe even some answers to questions you have been pondering recently. Taurus has all the time in the world. Not to mention the tenacity to stick with the search to firstly find out the answers, and secondly, figure out how to bring them to life.

    Taurus The Sign Of Money

Taurus has a reputation for abundance, in all its earthly delights. Taurus is a money ruler, so we can focus on opportunities to improve our financial situations and plan for the future. We can maximize resources we have, and get our hands on new resources. This can help improve stability and security in our lives, and as we improve stability and security, we can get more opportunities for money and resources.

    Taurus The Time To Anchor

Taurus brings in the anchor of deep stability. This is the rock around which all the duality of life is spinning. Taurus as an archetype is earthy, fortified like a mountain, and all about the sensations of nature around us. It often asks us to connect to our bodies and to the tangible, material parts of our life experience. On our journey there, Taurus also asks us to backtrack. To go back to the foundation and core of who we are and the intentions we are setting. Before setting any intentions for change, this Moon wants us to first look to our core truths, values, and motivations. To make sure we are planting seeds of intentions we truly desire to be sown.

Taurus The Sign Of The Body

Taurus is a fixed earth sign because of this; it is one of the most body-centered (and centering) signs of the zodiac. When the New Moon is in the sign of Taurus we are reminded of the sacredness of our physical form. Taurus asks us to sit with ourselves fully. Not in an intellectual way, or spiritual way but, in a physical way. It asks us to take time to notice the breath entering our lungs, the beating of our hearts, the movement in our blood, the tension in our muscles, pressure on our bones, and sensations from our senses. When the moon is in Taurus, we are encouraged to revel in our physicalness and the pleasure of what we can experience with our sense of touch especially in the realm of sex. Taurus puts an emphasis on creature comforts reminding us to slow down, savor deeply, and reconnect with our physicality by simply enjoying life’s pleasures.

    Taurus New Moon and Duality

Since, I am a grey witch every single energy I work with I look for the duality in that energy and how I can connect to it. This includes the new moon and the sign it currently is in. First, the new moon itself is all about duality and illuminating the night sky in both light and shadows. The new moon is all about rebirth, renewal, and the beginning of a new cycle, which puts you in a transitional liminal space and energy. In order for you to be in a space to begin again, to transition, and be reborn you had to just come from and ending and death. Second, the sign of Taurus while it may be all about abundance, security, stability, and going deep within to be rooted and anchored. That isn’t a light process, or an easy process. To truly fully receive abundance, and be rooted in our sacred contacts and soul purposes. To truly manifest all of our deepest desires, passions, and intentions; we have to face the depths of our pasts, who we really are, and where we have honestly been. In order to have the space and ability to receive it all and most importantly be willing to receive by knowing we are worthy and it is meant to be ours. Doing this opens you to a very liminal space steeped in duality for you to truly do the work needed to benefit from this new moon to its fullest potential.

What To Be Cautious Of This Taurus New Moon

Our confidence can be high with the Taurus New Moon if we feel secure and take it easy. If we don’t, we may become stubborn about something, and insecurity can lead to lashing out erratically. Be careful with being stubborn as well to not try and move immovable objects and start unneeded conflict. The other thing to be careful of with this moon; is the pull to rest, relax and go inward. It can be very potent and alluring. While taking to time rest and replenish our bodies is important don’t let it go so far you start to avoid responsibilities.

Ways To Work With The Taurus New Moon

Now, that we have talked about the themes of this Taurus new moon and how it is going to affect you let’s talk about how you can specifically connect to and work with this moon.

Root Meditation For Taurus New Moon

The purpose of this meditation is to help you feel grounded and stable to the earth, and who you are while also replenishing your energy and strength. It also creates a circular current of energy from the earth’s core, through your energetic body, and the celestial body the moon.

    How to do:

Find a comfortable position to be in somewhere that you can be alone and be left uninterrupted for a small amount of time. If you want to do this outside under the moon or connecting to the earth you can as well!

Begin by taking four centering breaths in and continue to box breath:

    How to box breathe:

Breathe in to the count of four (I measure my count with my heartbeat).
Hold your breath for four counts.
    Breathe out for four counts.
Pause for four counts before taking another breath.
    Repeat.
This breathing technique helps to quiet the mind and center your focus. I use this not only for meditation, guided work, and magical purposes but, for mental health coping skills as well!

Continuing to breathe gently into the softness of your belly, you are going to begin to visualize yourself within yourself. Visualize yourself pulling back from the edges of your body. Draw your consciousness inwards so that you feel yourself inside of your body as if it were a sacred container/ temple that you can draw back into. Feel yourself growing smaller in the powerful space of your body, drifting down into the sacred portal of energy in your belly, down into your pelvic space. The sacred portal of energy many know as the root chakra or the cauldron of warming.

Remaining within yourself, visualize a root extending from inner-you down deep into the earth. Breathe into this root as it extends downwards into the floor beneath you, and than into the soil. Feel as it expands and grows moving throwing the soil. Past roots of plants and other trees, past rocks, and decaying remains and debris, past critters, and creatures that wiggle in the dirt. You breathe in and on the exhale your root extends even further into the soil stretching as far as it can until you reach the burning hot, molten core at the center of the earth. And you feel the energy of the earth pulsating there ready for you to absorb.

With every out-breath your root extends and with every in-breath you pull up green energy through your roots back into inner-you from that molten hot core in the center of the earth pulsating in front of you. The green energy stretches up into all parts of inner-you until you are completely filled with it from your toes to fingertips to the very top of your head. The energy extends out of the crown of your head skywards in the form of branches, sprouting leaves, and maybe even blooming buds or fruit. With every out-breath your branches extend upwards and with every in-breath your branches pull celestial, lunar, and solar energy into inner-you. Let the currents of green and celestial energy mingle throughout your body creating a circle current from the celestial energy, through you, and into the core of the earth and back again.

When you feel sufficiently charged-up, begin to pull back your roots and branches until they have formed a small but powerful sphere of centered energy in the belly of inner-you. This is a continuous conductor of energy that you can connect to for abundance, growth, and the divine connection between you, the earth, and the celestial body the moon. You can go within yourself, to your sacred container/temple of your body, to access it at any time, including repeating this simple ritual to continue to revitalize your inner energy.

Whenever you are ready you can open your eyes and come fully back to your body by giving yourself a self-massage or squeezing your feet connecting to the energy current you just were connected too.

Amaterasu; The Illuminating Shinto Goddess of The Sun, Creation, and The Higher Celestial Plane

Amaterasu is the primary deity of the Shinto religion in Japanese mythology, revered as the goddess of the sun, universe, and creation itself, and considered the highest manifestation of the spirit of the universe. As the source of all light, life, and creation, the sun goddess sustains heaven and earth with a light so compelling that her father appointed her ruler of the universe when he first laid eyes on her.

As the embodiment of the sun, she assimilates all of its qualities and provides comfort and assurance to all those who look to her for guidance and protection. Having served as the mother of the imperial family she is revered as the goddess of the state, and is both nurturing and maternal.

Born from the drops of water that fell from his face, Amaterasu is deeply connected to mirrors, which are seen as sacred objects that contain a sliver of her spirit. Her blessings permeate many aspects of Japanese life, from protecting warriors in battle to ensuring bountiful harvests. Revered throughout history, even the imperial family claims descent from Amaterasu. Her benevolent light continues to guide the Japanese people through dark times. Let me shine her illuminating light for you to see and learn all that her rays touch and influence in your life!

    Who is Amaterasu?

She has a shimmering aura that spreads across the skies and touches all corners of the world. Amaterasu signifies a new day with hope, energy, and growth. From the moment of her creation Amaterasu Omikami, the sun goddess of Japanese mythology, was said to be so radiant that she illuminated both heaven and earth. Goddess Amaterasu is the Goddess of the Sun worshiped in Japan.

Possessing the rising sun as a symbol, every morning she is greeted by the people through prayers. Amaterasu is one of the main Goddesses of Shinto. In Shinto it is common for Goddesses and Gods to be called “Kami”, therefore it is common to see the name Amaterasu-ōmikami which means something close to “Great” Kami that illuminates the heavens.”

Goddess Amaterasu is described as a radiant and kind Goddess who brings light, joy, and prosperity to her people. Her femininity and nurturance blend with her forceful solar nature. Her influence extends beyond physical aspects; she is linked to enlightenment, wisdom, and artistic inspiration.  She is also credited with first using silkworms and looms for weaving.

She is the daughter of the divine creators of the world, Izanami and Izanagi, and she has two brothers: Tsukuyomi, the God of the Moon, and Susanoo, the God of Storms and seas. It was written that Amaterasu had painted the landscape with her siblings to create ancient Japan.

Amaterasu, Japan’s sun goddess of legend, is known for her powerful and benevolent ways. One story tells of her brother’s misdeeds causing her to retreat into a cave, and the other gods’ plan to coax her out again, resulting in the birth of dance and music which we will talk about later.

The radiant god is believed to be the ancestor of Japan’s imperial family, and her divine power is said to have been passed down through generations. She is associated with Shintoism, Japan’s native religion, with sunlight representing purity and enlightenment.

A sacred mirror reflects her true form and is venerated in Shinto shrines throughout Japan. It symbolizes truth and self-reflection, encouraging us to embrace our own radiance and divinity. Amaterasu has played a fundamental role in Japan’s culture, from ancient times to today. Her influence runs deep, becoming part of the country’s collective identity.

    What does she look like?

Amaterasu is a revered deity known for her ethereal beauty and enchanting presence. Often depicted as graceful, the sun goddess has long, lustrous black hair, radiant skin, and bright eyes. Her attire consists of flowing kimonos crafted from the finest silks and satins. Such richly detailed depictions of the goddess have helped to cement her place as one of the most beloved and celebrated figures in Japanese folklore and culture.

Ruler of the higher celestial plane

Amaterasu is also known for her role as the ruler of the Higher Celestial Plane. In this realm, she was responsible for bringing light to the world through the sun that she embodied. Amaterasu is the rising and setting sun: without her, all forms of life would cease to exist. As ruler of the heavens, she governs over all spirits (kami), and her divine powers brought about the cultivation of rice and wheat: she is also credited with first using silkworms and looms for weaving. Amaterasu’s role as the ruler of heaven is to ensure the continuity of life by maintaining order.

Her tie to the imperial state

The Japanese monarchy is regarded as the oldest continuous hereditary monarchy in the world, with its roots extending all the way back to the 7th century BC. Like many other ancient monarchies, the Emperors of Japan trace their ancestry to a divine source, though it may be said that there are certain differences between the divinity of the Japanese Emperor and those of other rulers who claimed divinity.

It is said that the first emperors of Japan were direct descendants of Amaterasu. It is believed that Amaterasu sent her grandson Jimmu to Earth 3,000 years ago to be the first ruler of Japan, beginning the divine family of Japanese emperors. Even her sacred sword (Kusanagi-no-Tsurugi), her jewel (Yasakani in the Magatama) and her mirror (Yata no Kagami), the goddess’s main symbol, are still guarded to this day as Imperial Treasures.

    Goddess of creation

Amaterasu is believed to be one of the oldest gods. She played an important role in creating Japan and its people. Her divine light illuminated the world and caused many phenomena. Amaterasu is the rising and setting sun: without her, all forms of life would cease to exist. As ruler of the heavens, she governs over all spirits (kami), and her divine powers brought about the cultivation of rice and wheat.

    Amaterasu The spiritual guide

Amaterasu is the spiritual guide and protector of the Japanese people. Many festivals are held in her honor. She symbolizes hope, prosperity, and purity. She gets this role because of her incredibly high status as the kami of the higher celestial plane. Since this is said to be a realm she has domain over it would of course make her the spiritual guide to the people.

    Amaterasu and duality

Since I am a grey witch and live in the liminal spaces every single deity I work with I look for how they can connect to duality. How do they represent the universal concept of duality that every being is meant to achieve in the universe. I feel with light deities this gets overlooked often and is much more focused on with dark deities. Amaterasu does this very well, in the fact that she is the sun that can both bring and sustain all life and it can smother it and snuff it out. If you think about it we as humans love the sun and NEED it to survive but, our bodies aren’t really made for it either. Our skin burns, we sweat, and we can only tolerate low heats of it.

The same thing with her being a deity of  light. Light can illuminate and shine brightly to allow us to see. It can also shine so brightly It can blind us and send us off in the direction. She also does this by being the kami to embody all of the universe. How can she encompass all of the universe and she not be steeped in duality?

    Amaterasu and the Divine feminine

The myth of the Goddess Amaterasu emphasizes female power. The absence of the Goddess and the resulting aridity and darkness of the world demonstrate the importance of the woman, who must be respected, recognized and honored as a source of life and energy. You also see her importance with the divine feminine in being a solar deity and her simply being a goddess. It is common across cultures especially in the west and after christianity that the sun is represented as a masculine energy with a god.

Her Association with Other Elements of Nature

Amaterasu is not only the goddess of the sun, but also holds significance in the association with other elements of nature. In Japanese mythology, she is responsible for sending forth the four winds and for creating the typhoons that are prevalent in Japan.

She is also associated with the regulation of the tides, agriculture, and rainfall. These associations with natural elements have given Amaterasu significant power in shaping the lives and culture of the Japanese people.

    Mythology and stories

    The birth of Amaterasu

According to the beliefs of the Shinto religion, Amaterasu is the child of Izanami and Izanagi, the two primordial gods responsible for the creation of the Japanese islands. Izanami is recognized as ‘she who invites,’ while Izanagi is known as ‘he who invites.’ Amaterasu’s birth is shrouded in myth, with multiple versions of the story found in Japanese sacred texts. The Nihon Shoki includes two versions of the tale, while the Kojiki or Furukotofum contains the most widely accepted account of her conception

    The Nihon Shoki

The Nihon Shoki, or Chronicles of Japan, is a highly esteemed history book that dates back to classical Japan. As the second-oldest text in Japanese history, it is more detailed and comprehensive than its predecessor, the Kojiki. Its value to historians stems from the fact that it contains the most extensive historical records of ancient Japanese history. Along with this, it also includes a collection of myths about the origins of Japan and a genealogy of the Imperial family.

In the Nihongi, there are two versions of the origins of Amaterasu. In the first version, the divine beings Izanagi and Izanami no Mikoto are said to have descended from heaven and created Japan’s islands, mountains, rivers, and seas. They were, however, most concerned with bringing forth the high Kami who would rule over all these lands. First, they brought forth Amaterasu Omikami, who emanated light from every horizon. In their joy, the divine parents sent the child to heaven to reign over the highest celestial plain (Takama No Hara). Following Amaterasu’s ascent to heaven, Tsukiyomi no Mikoto, the Moon Kami, came into existence and was sent to join Amaterasu as her brother and husband, Soon after, her brother Susano-O no Mikoto, the Storm Kami, was created and sent to control the seas.

In the second version of the myth found in the Nihongi, the divine progenitor is solely named Izanagi (“Amaterasu – New World Encyclopedia” 2019). In this particular narrative, Izanagi desired to create a deity worthy of governing the universe. After careful consideration, he took hold of a white-copper mirror in his left hand and created Amaterasu Omikami. Then he took another mirror of the same material in his right hand and used it to produce Tsukiyomi no Mikoto. Lastly, Izanagi turned his head and looked askance, leading to the emergence of Susano-O.

    The Kojiki

The Kojiki, also known as the Furukotofumi or “Records of Ancient Matters,” is a priceless artifact that provides valuable insights into the ancient history of Japan. It was compiled during the first half of 680 C.E. at the command of Emperor Temmu and remains the oldest surviving book of its kind.

According to the Kojiki, the final and most widely accepted version of Amaterasu’s birth involves Izanagi and Izanami creating the islands of Japan and the entire natural universe. That is until Kagu-Tsuchi’s birth. Unfortunately, upon emerging from his mother’s womb, Kagu-Tsuchi singed his mother, causing Izanami to become gravely wounded. Despite attempts to save her, Izanami ultimately succumbed to her injuries and passed away. Amid his grief, Izanagi sought to retrieve his beloved Izanami from Yomi, the underworld. With a heavy heart, he journeyed to the land of the dead and searched for her. However, upon finding her, he was devastated to discover that her flesh was decaying and covered in maggots. Despite his desperate pleas, Izanami could not leave the realm of the dead and return with him to the world above.

Barely escaping Yomi, Izanagi went to purify himself and bathed in a nearby river, cleansing himself of any remnants of the underworld that may have clung to him. As he washed his face, something miraculous occurred. When he rinsed his left eye, a radiant figure emerged – Amaterasu, the goddess of the sun. Overcome with wonder and amazement, Izanagi continued to wash his face. Soon after, he rinsed his right eye, and then Tsukiyomi no Mikoto, the god of the moon, emerged. Finally, as he rinsed his nose, Susano-O no Mikoto, the god of storms, appeared before him. As a result of great sorrow and loss, three mighty deities emerged, each representing a distinct aspect of the natural world.

    Amaterasu hides inside the Ama-no-Iwato

The main story involving Goddess Amaterasu Goddess tells when she hid in a cave due to sadness. According to Kojiki, the main book that tells the Shinto myth of creation, Susanoo caused many problems and, for that reason, he was expelled from the skies. The main problem he caused greatly upset Amaterasu, let me tell it below.

There was a long-standing rivalry between Amaterasu and her other brother, Susanoo. When he was to leave Heaven by order of Izanagi, he went to bid his sister goodbye. Amaterasu was suspicious, but when Susanoo proposed a challenge to prove his sincerity, she accepted. Each of them took an object of the other’s and from it birthed gods and goddesses. Amaterasu birthed three women from Susanoo’s sword while he birthed five men from her necklace. Claiming the gods were hers because they were born of her necklace, she decided that she had won the challenge.

The two were content for a time, but her brother became restless and went on a rampage, destroying Amaterasu’s rice fields, hurling a flayed pony at her loom, and killing one of her attendants in a fit of rage. Amaterasu, who was in fury and grief, hid inside the Ama-no-Iwato (“heavenly rock cave”), thus effectively hiding the sun for a long period of time. The world, without the illumination of the sun, became dark.

The fields begin to die, the vegetation does not grow anymore, the cold takes over everything. Not even the Gods can reverse the situation. No one can persuade Amaterasu to leave the cave. Fearing eternal darkness, the God of Wisdom Omoikane has a great idea. The Gods organized a party at the entrance of the cave. A mirror was raised so Amaterasu could see her own reflection.

Goddess Uzume began to dance. She was so happy dancing that she ended up losing her clothes, exposing her breasts. She then says that the Gods have found another Goddess as beautiful and radiant as Amaterasu. Then she recites the verses:

Hito futa miyo. Itsu muyu nana. Ya koko no tari. Momo chi yorodzu. Which means: Gods, look at the entrance to the cave. The Majesty appears! Rejoice! Our hearts are happy. Look at my breasts and my limbs.

Listening to the noise and laughter of the other gods, Amaterasu decides to spy out of the cave. Seeing her image reflected in the mirror, and dazzled by her own beauty, Amaterasu emerges from the cave. She was received with songs of praise and let herself be carried back to her golden palace, illuminating the world again. This story is also thought to be the birth of dance and music.

Amaterasu and Tsukuyomi: The legend of night and day

Another important story involving the Goddess Amaterasu is found in the Nihon Shoki (Chronicles of Japan). Tlegend begins with Tsukuyomi and Amaterasu serving as the deities of heaven as husband and wife. One day, Uke Mochi, the goddess of food, invited Amaterasu over for a feast: not being able to go, Amaterasu sent Tsukuyomi instead.

Tsukuyomi meets Ukemochi and she prepares a banquet for him, creating all her food through her mouth. Tsukuyomi finds everything very disgusting and kills Ukemochi, leaving Amaterasu deeply saddened. Since then, Amaterasu and Tsukuyomi are no longer together. After their separation, the sun goddess Amaterasu and the moon god Tsukuyomi took control of the sky separately, one illuminating the day while the other cast a soft glow over the night.

    Festivals And Rituals

A leading figure in Japanese spiritual and cultural traditions, Amaterasu’s legacy endures to this day. Many devotees seek blessings and guidance from the Goddess through many shrines and temples across Japan.

The Grand Shrine of Ise is the most prominent shrine dedicated to Amaterasu in Ise, Mie, in western Honshū. The shrine is believed to enshrine the body of Amaterasu, and it is considered the holiest site for Shintoists. It is customary to rebuild the Inner Shrine at Isé every twenty years as per Shinto tradition, ensuring that it remains pure and new. Visitors worship outside the southern gate, while only priests and members of the imperial family can enter the innermost sanctum. It is customary for Shinto believers to make a pilgrimage to the shrine at least once in their lifetime.

There are also other significant shrines that worship Amaterasu, such as the Amanoiwato Shrine and the Atsuta Shrine. The Amanoiwato Shrine is located in the cave where Amaterasu famously hid during the story of her retreat, while the Atsuta Shrine is believed to house the sword that was passed down from Amaterasu’s grandson, Ninigi.

Amaterasu’s importance to Japanese history is evident in the imperial regalia of Japan, which have been passed down from her grandson Ninigi. These three artifacts – a mirror, a sword, and a jewel – are believed to be the symbols of the Japanese imperial family and their rule.

The mirror is said to represent wisdom, the sword bravery, and the jewel benevolence. The regalia are kept in the Tokyo Imperial Palace and only brought out for coronations and other important rituals.

In Japan, there are annual street processions to honor Amaterasu on July 17th and a winter solstice celebration on December 21st: commemorating Amaterasu’s emerging from the cave, bringing light and warmth back into the world.

    Why work with Amaterasu?

This beautiful Goddess will bring the joy back to your life. Helping you find joy in all aspects of your life, helping you to laugh and have fun. She will help you relax and enjoy the little things in life and just be in the moment. Call on her when you are feeling overwhelmed and worried or feeling down and she will bring some spark back into you. Helping you see the bright side of things and to give you a powerful boost of shining light, shining joy and lots of laughter!

    Ways to work with Amaterasu

Everyone’s relationship with deities is different and we all work with and believe in them differently. You might believe in multiple gods and goddesses and work with them each as though they are close, personal friends. Or maybe you believe the old gods are reflections of Universal energy and simply archetype energies that you can learn a lesson from. However you incorporate deities in your practice is up to you. But here are our ideas to get you started. To work with Amaterasu, it’s important to approach her with respect, reverence, gratitude and by building a relationship with her.

    Study, get to know her

As with every deity I have ever written about or taught about, The first way to get to know a deity, specifically a goddess like Amaterasu is to study all you can about her. Read more about the myths we went over above, learn about the other kami connected to her, look at the brilliant art she is the centerpiece of throughout centuries, study the culture and religion she is central to;Japan and shintoism. When working with a deity it is all about building a true relationship with them and you do this first by getting to know who they are.

Create a Kamindana in your home to connect to and honor her

To add her to your home and to create a sacred space to go and meet with her you can create a kamidana dedicated to her. A kamidana is a miniature Shinto shrine designed for home worship. It is very similar to having an altar dedicated to any of the deities I have talked about before. You can learn how to create a kamidana to add to your home for her in my previous blog post here; https://modgepodgemystic.com/shintoism-the-way-of-the-kami/

    Offerings

Everyone likes receiving presents. Amaterasu is no different, especially since she is such a revered deity and so central to every part of Japanese life and culture.  You don’t have to give her offerings every day, but when you feel it is appropriate. You can place these offerings at your kamidana or when performing any work to connect to her like meditation, prayer, and visualization.

The best offerings for Amaterasu include:

    • Rice crackers
    •  cooked rice dyed with saffron
    •  paper origami figures
    • Grain or rice as an offering, inside a brass or gold offering dish/bowl
    • A magick mirror dedicated to Amaterasu
    • Sandalwood oil
    • A special cloth, like silk

    Greet her at sunrise

Amaterasu is everywhere through the sunlight. Even on cloudy days, she graced the earth with her warmth and kindness. There is no need to summon a Goddess who is already so present among us, but it is common to greet her at sunrise and reflect her light with a mirror through the rooms of the house letting her enter the rooms to bring peace, energy and life. Otherwise your greeting can be as simple as giving a respectful bow and clapping. How to do this; at first, bow twice to greet the kami. Then clap twice, and make a pray with your both hands together. At last, bow again to show gratitude towards the deity.

    Mirror Guidance

Another way of summoning the Goddess can be done at times when you wish advice from the Goddess. For being the Goddess of the Sun, Amaterasu can light up your mind and overshadow illusions that may be blocking your path. To do this ritual, first, take a mirror. It can be any mirror you have in your home or a mirror that you want to use especially for these occasions. Bow before the mirror, greeting the Goddess as the Japanese do. Then look into your own eyes and call Amaterasu eight times, the number of infinity. Concentrate and listen to the words of the Goddess.

To learn how to work with mirrors more in your life to connect to here you can watch my previous class all about mirror magic below!

    Sunbathing

Obviously Amaterasu is a solar goddess and therefore she enjoys warmth, sunlight, and hot climates. So why not get out in the sun and do a little sunbathing? It feels great, gives you energy, and allows you to soak up the magical energy the sun has to offer us humans as the vital energy of our existence.

    Perform solar magic

Like we just talked about, Amaterasu  is a solar goddess so a very obvious way to connect to and work with her would be performing and working with any kind of solar magic. There are so many different ways to work with solar magic and the sun from meditating under its bright rays, making sun water, drawing down the sun and more. To learn all about solar magic and connecting to the sun and how to do so you can read about it here in my previous blog post; https://modgepodgemystic.com/solar-magic-a-guide-to-harness-the-bright-vibrant-and-confident-magical-energy-of-the-sun/

    Call on her for abundance

Since, Amaterasu is the deity of the sun, and the reason we have all sustenance to survive and thrive as humans she is amazing to work with for abundance! Call on her when doing any abundance spells, working or rituals for a more boosted and amplified affect. To learn how to work with the energy of abundance you can read all about it in my guide here; https://modgepodgemystic.com/all-about-the-magic-of-abundance-prosperity-and-good-fortune/

    Meditation, visualization and Dream work

One of the best ways to channel divine energy and tap into goddesses like Amaterasu  is through meditation, visualization and dreaming.  These practices allow you to open up and receive/ connect to divine energy in a very intuitive, clear, and transformative way.  You will find a plethora of guided meditations on YouTube that will lead you to your spirit guide or god/goddess.. Try those if you have a hard time meditating on your own. I have many classes on youtube as well on previous deities you can watch where I even summon and guide you to them in sacred space. In addition, ask Amaterasu to visit you in your dreams and teach you lessons that you currently need to learn. Then record every encounter with her in your journal, book of shadows, or grimoire.

Meditation to connect with Amaterasu Omikami

Light some incense, maybe a candle and close your eyes.  Take three deep breaths, relaxing your whole body. Hold your intention in connecting to Amaterasu Omikami. You could say this in your head three times, ‘My intention is to connect with Amaterasu Omikami.’

Imagine you are in the middle of a field and its just before dawn. There is high grass around you with meadow flowers. Light is starting to show on the horizon and you can see that far off in the distance there are trees. You sit down and watch the light get stronger and then the sun starts to rise. You say Amaterasu Omikami I wish to connect with you, please connect. The sun then rises high in the sky and shines down on you with so much light and warmth. You hear a voice ‘I am Amaterasu Omikami. You are my shining light just as I am yours. I will help you to balance your energies and bring you joy. You can call on me when ever you need, for I am a Mother to you and I will help you and comfort you.’ You then talk to Amaterasu Omikami.

When you have finished your conversation with Amaterasu Omikami, you thank her and know you can contact her any time. The sun sets and the day turns to night. When you are ready, take three deep breaths and come back to the room.

Write down your experience. What was Amaterasu Omikami like? What message did she have for you? Did she answer your questions? What did she look like? What was the gift she gave you?

    Prayers

One very powerful way to connect to a deity is through prayer. It is common in Japan for Devotees to utter heartfelt prayers to Amaterasu to receive her bountiful blessings of prosperity, health, and guidance.

“I honor you, Amaterasu. I ask you to turn your light upon me. I honor you with this piece of silk (or jewelry) and ask that it become a talisman of power. Goddess of the sun, bless me.”

The most well known prayer to Amaterasu no Omikoto. It goes like this:

    Lovely Lady of the Heaven’s
Goddess and Guardian of the Japan People.
Amaterasu, with Awe we see your beauty Rise.Tranquil Queen of Heaven
When I look up to the Royal Sky
I see thee Shining in Great Glory. behind a screen of Clouds, The Sun
Amaterasu, For Thousands of ages Your Children have served you.
As your Brillant light did shine,
Now in their Hour of Greatest Need,
We ask you to shine the full measure of your blessing on your children,
May it shine from each Bosom, and Shrine. May it shine from each home, and each field. May it shine forth from each child you touch. Amaterasu, may the children of your children remember this moment with Awe, and sing your name with great Praise. Let them look heavenward and sing For Thousands of ages may she shine.
For Thousands of ages may we serve her. May we serve her with reverence.May we serve her with Love

    Move your body through Dance

Amaterasu is a solar deity, and the kami of the entire universe which makes her a very vital goddess. What better way to connect to vitality than by getting up and moving our bodies? To connect to her more directly, do this through dancing to honor one of the popular myths which credit the birth of dance and music in Japan to her.

    Light work and Energy work

Since Amaterasu is a solar deity, a light deity, and the kami of the universe and higher celestial plane she is one of the best goddesses to call on when working with your own energy, the energy of the environment around you, and the universe as whole. She has the ability to guide you to your higher self, your sacred contracts and the divine in a very intense and illuminating way. Unlike when working with a dark goddess and being shown your shadows she illuminates the brightest and best part of yourselves that may shine too brightly for you to always see. To learn more about how to do energy work you can learn about in my previous blogpost here; https://modgepodgemystic.com/working-with-the-basics-of-life-and-magic-energy/

    Pilgrimages

Followers embark on pilgrimages to sacred sites associated with the goddess, such as Ise Grand Shrine. These journeys symbolize strong devotion and spiritual unity with Amaterasu. So, if at all realistically possible try and do this at some point in your life to connect to her in a deep way.I have yet to experience this one but, it is a goal of mine to one day do!

    Sacred Objects

Worshippers create ornate talismans, known as omamori, that are said to possess Amaterasu’s divine presence. These talismans bring protection and good luck to their owners.

Live in accordance to the practices of shintoism

Amaterasu is the central figure to shintoism, and Japanese culture. So, one of the best ways to connect to her and honor her would be by encompassing the principles and affirmations of that belief system. To learn more about how to do that you can read my previous blog post on it here; https://modgepodgemystic.com/shintoism-the-way-of-the-kami/

    Conclusion

Amaterasu has been a revered guiding force since her arrival into this world. Even after thousands of years, she continues to shine as a symbol of hope and inspiration for those who believe in her divine presence. Call on her when you are feeling overwhelmed and worried or feeling down and she will bring some spark back into you. Helping you see the bright side of things and to give you a powerful boost of shining light, shining joy and lots of laughter! Allow her to guide you to higher celestial plane and shine her illuminating rays on all that you are and provide you with all that you need!

To expand your knowledge about her and meet her in a guided session or if you learn better through listening instead of reading. You can watch my free class with Divination Academy on youtube below!

Embrace The Transformation, Renewal, and Wealth of the 5/5 portal

Certain dates hold a special significance in the terms of celestial alignment and they create a portal through which we can access heightened energies, spiritual insights, and opportunities for growth. The 5th of May is a really important date as it is the 5th day of the 5th month of the year. This is known as the 5/5 portal. The May 5 Portal,is also known as the 5/5 Gateway or the Beltane Portal, and it occurs annually on May 5th. This date holds significance in various spiritual traditions, including astrology, numerology, and indigenous cultures as a time of heightened spiritual activity and cosmic alignment. It’s often thought that at this time, the veil between the physical and spiritual realms is thinner, putting the collective in a liminal space allowing us to access higher frequencies of energy to receive guidance, and blessings from the divine. This portal creates a powerful alignment of cosmic forces that opens a gateway to transformation, renewal, manifestation, abundance, and purpose. The energy will be ripe on 5/5, the ultimate portal of change, enlightenment, and finally seeing elements in your life “as they are” and not what you perceive. It is the portal that unlocks the door for us to begin a deep manifestation journey.

    First, What is a portal?

A portal is an energetic gateway or doorway that creates a powerful opportunity to connect with higher energies. We can make the most of each portal if we work with the incoming energies and channel, anchor, and integrate them.

    The importance of numbers
In numerology, every number from 0 to 9 is a symbol and is therefore highly significant. Symbols are the language of the soul and patterns of numbers work together like a code. We can use days like these to connect more fully and readily with our higher nature and choose to elevate our consciousness.

In numerology, the number 5 is considered a master of change, able to go with the flow and adapt to different environments and social situations.

The Meaning Of The 5/5 Portal

The Sun is in Taurus; the sign of prosperity and 5 is the number of money, abundance, and wealth, so this day is the perfect day to manifest everything we desire in harmony with the Universe and create the life of our absolute dreams and deepest desires. At its core, the 5/5 Portal represents a time of transformation and renewal; a chance to shed old patterns, beliefs, and energies that no longer serve us, and embrace new beginnings and possibilities. We can tap into the energies of the 5/5 Portal to initiate personal and spiritual growth, release stagnant energy, and align with our highest path and purpose.

    Connecting with the Divine Feminine

In many spiritual traditions, the month of May is associated with the celebration of the divine feminine and the energies of fertility, abundance, and creativity. As we access the 5/5 Portal, we are invited to connect with the nurturing and life-giving qualities of the divine feminine, honoring the cycles of birth, growth, and renewal that are mirrored in the natural world around us.

    The 5/5 Portal and Duality

Since, I am a grey witch every single energy I choose to align myself with I look for how I can connect to it in the sense of duality and balance. With this portal it may seem like, there is no way an energy swirling with abundance, wealth, manifestation, renewal, and transformation can be anything but, a wanted thing and a wanted energy? Well, every single energy we work with is dualistic and this energy is no different.

When you are making room to manifest, are setting intentions, and getting ready to receive abundance you have to release some things to allow that to even happen and to make room for that energy to be received. This can look like many things, from physically removing things in your life like habits and/or behaviors or doing inner work to release unwanted thought patterns not allowing you to receive. You also will be steeped in duality when it comes to transformation with this portal and energy. Transformation is a very dualistic energy itself. It brings you and forces you into a liminal space, where you are not who or what you once were, and you are not who or what you will be. It is taking you through the process of a death, and into a birth which is one of the most potent dualistic energies you can work with.

How To Work With Portals In General

Portal days are a prime opportunity to refocus on ourselves. Below are some ways you can do that with portals in general on portal days when they are open and active.

Listen to your gut feeling: Portal days are not the time for overthinking decisions. Instead, listen to your intuition and trust the inspirations that come to you on these days.

Movement: Energy needs to flow, so make sure you get enough exercise on portal days. For example, you could start the day with some yoga or plan a walk during your lunch break. This will ground you and sharpen your focus at the same time.

Get enough sleep: In order to be as physically and mentally prepared as possible, healthy sleep is essential. Portal days demand a lot from you, so make sure you get enough sleep or take short rest breaks in between.

Journalling and manifestation: Hold on to your thoughts and ideas by visualising them on a goal board or writing them down in your journal. This not only prevents you from forgetting them again, but also brings order to your potential chaos of thoughts.

Create rituals: Everything has a more intense effect on portal days. This includes the opportunity to create new rituals, reinforce existing ones or overhaul old ones. Rituals ensure consistency and can help us to really put our new insights into practice and integrate them permanently into our everyday lives.

How to use the 5/5 portal Specifically

The sequence of 555 denotes a time of life choices, major change, and opportunity. So, do your best to set intentions during that time. When you set an intention on 5/5 at 5:55, you can use this portal energy to your highest benefit. It’s a time of major manifestation and money magic. Below is one way you can do this on your own at the times when the portal is the most potent; 5:55 am and 5:55 pm.

Step 1: Identify what is holding you back
It is really helpful to identify any areas that are preventing abundance and prosperity to flow freely in our life. Look at what could be causing you to not fully transform, and may be causing you fear to blossom into the new version of yourself this portal is ushering you towards.

We can do this by asking questions or doing shadow work surrounding topics such as:

    • Where is my internal dialogue holding me back?
    • What limiting words and phrases am I using repeatedly in connection with money?
    • What restricting words do I use to describe my relationship with money?
    • Is my natural view of money blocking my flow?
    • Is there something or someone I am allowing to hold me back in fear?
    • Do I believe there is enough abundance for me to receive?
    • Do I believe I am worthy to receive abundance, blessings, and transformation?

If you would like to learn more about shadow work you can purchase my eBook here;  you can book me for a 1:1 session as your guide here; and you can watch my free class previously taught on it through Divination here.

Step 2: Letting go of old beliefs
Once identified, choose to let go of this old mental patterning and beliefs. Release it and let it go. Release the past, the lower vibrations and then choose to invite in the newer, much higher vibrations to take their place.Call in your spirit guides to help you if needed or a deity if you feel called too.

    Step 3: Manifest
All we need to do then….. Sit quietly out in nature or inside in your sacred container.
If you are inside, light a candle or burn incense to cleanse and purify the container.
Hold a clear Quartz crystal, a single point if you have one.
Invite and visualize the 5/5 energies flowing down from the multiverse/ cosmos and flowing down from your Crown chakra on the in-breath.
Have the intention to anchor this energy within your body.
On the out-breath visualize this energy flowing down and continuing past your Root chakra and continuing down until it is deep within Mother Earth.
Just keep breathing in and out, visualizing the incoming energies flowing down through you and then down into the Earth.
Anchoring the energies within you and then grounding them into Gaia.
    You are the channel.
The energies are passing through you.
They are activating cellular light codes within you.
Focus on the light and keeping your vibration as high as possible.
Do this until you are guided to stop.

    Throughout the rest of the day make sure to;

    • Drink plenty of pure water.
    • Rest if you need too!
    • Express gratitude and go for a walk
    • Draw some oracle cards or do divination
    • Journal
    • Practice self care like a ritual bath

We can ask the multiverse to help us feel safe and secure and to know that we are enough and have always been enough. By releasing all limitations that we currently have, we can bring our highest potential to this world and shine like the incredible and expansive beings of light that we truly are!

Embrace The Transformation, Renewal, and Wealth of the 5/5 portal

There are many ways to work with the 5/5 portal like, ritual, ceremony, meditation, prayer, channeling, or sacred gatherings. These practices serve to amplify our intentions, deepen our connection to the divine, and align us with the transformative energies of the portal. We can use our own unique way to honor the 5/5 Portal and embrace its gifts of renewal and transformation. Embrace this sacred time as an opportunity for growth, healing, and spiritual evolution, trusting in the guidance of the multiverse/cosmos and the wisdom of our own inner knowing/ intuition.

The Grey Witch; Walking The Path Of Duality and Balance

Every thing in nature is usually seen in the eyes of most pagans as being dualistic. Many paths consistently teach of how one must be able to understand and work with these seemingly opposing forces. These are the two forces and divisions of male and female, physical and spiritual, etc. It’s often commonly thought throughout practices that, these two forces only exist in division now but, were once of a previous unified force, or the divine. These two generally represent any of the dualistic polarities, this includes the polarities of positive and negative aka dark and light; or how I choose to view them as wanted and unwanted. To put it simply; the divine is neutral, grey. It is both positive AND negative, light AND dark, unwanted AND wanted. The divine, nature, and magic are all neutral and the grey witch encompasses this truth in all that they do and they are. They take this truth and use it to intimately work with all of the energies around them in a balanced way. I know this because, I myself am one of those witches! Let’s journey into grey Magic, walking the balanced path of Witchcraft together.

Magic itself is a neutral energy or force

Since the divine, the source, the multiverse, is neutral and grey and magic comes from the divine and source magic itself has to be a neutral energy and force as well. Magic itself is neither “dark nor light”, but it’s the way the magic and energy is sent out into the world. It is all about our intention, the energies we connect to when using it and where we choose to direct it.

    White, Black, And Grey Magic

Generally speaking, white magic is magic done for the benefit of ourselves or others by raising positive energy for a particular outcome. It helps us connect with spiritual forces, gain wisdom, and more enlightenment. Black magic is done to bring harm to others, and grey magic is exactly what it sounds like: the grey area in between the two.

(Note: I don’t use the terms “white” and “black” in my practices for many reasons but, mainly because they have clearly negative racial connotations. However, I’m including them here because this is typically how grey magic is described by others.)

    The Grey Witch

What does it mean to be a grey witch? A grey witch embodies a unique approach to witchcraft, incorporating elements of both left-hand (dark magic) and right-hand (light magic) paths into their practices without showing a preference for either. These types of magics may also sometimes be referred to as destructive and constructive magic, respectively. You may also see it referred to as positive “light and love” vs negative “baneful and evil” magic as well. Like I talked about above; I use the terms and view of wanted vs unwanted. The term “grey” derives from the mixture and balance of black and white magic. Grey witches greatly value magical and spiritual balance not only in their craft but also in their lives. They are neutral. This neutrality characterizes the grey witch as a force that exists between the extremes in the world of witchcraft.

It is not just the forces of “good” and “evil” that the grey witch toggles between. A grey witch also sees the polarity of femininity and masculinity, day and night, life and death. The secret to becoming a grey witch is keeping your power balanced. Grey witches recognize that to be whole, they must embrace both “positive” and “negative” energy.

Let Go of “Do No Harm”

Over and over and over again the Wiccan Rede is touted as some universal law that all witches must obey or face some kind of horrific consequence. Many witches particularly those who follow the religion wicca preach endlessly that witches must follow this rule. While on the surface this might seem like a well meaning rule with good intentions, but the ramifications of this rule are actually quite problematic. This rule creates a massive energetic imbalance in themselves, the collective, and the multiverse.

The biggest flaw in the push for the rede to be accepted by all witches is that it’s specific to one religion! It is called the Wiccan Rede for a reason, it’s a rule for Wiccans! If you’re not Wiccan, why would you follow their tenants? There are tons of other religions that get combined with the practice of witchcraft. These beliefs all tend to have their own moral view of the world and those moral views may or may not mesh with the rede. If you’re Wiccan, obviously the rede is meant for you and you can ignore this point.

If you’re still not convinced that “harm none” is a ridiculous rule then let me point out just how completely impossible it is to actually uphold. If you think about it, you can never be perfectly certain that the consequences of your actions aren’t harming someone. You could cast a successful job spell and while that spell might seem very positive for you, it inevitably will cause another candidate to be passed over for that job. Being passed over that job could be the catalyst for all kinds of unwanted things to follow.

Every single action you take has ramifications that could negatively impact other people without your knowledge. And I mean every single action! If you were to try and never harm anything ever again you would have to stop participating in life in any way. All actions in the world have both wanted and unwanted results and how you perceive these results is entirely based on perspective. Perspective changes everything, nothing is black and white and what is wanted in one persons eyes will undoubtedly be unwanted in someone else’s.

And what about morally grey spaces? Say somebody tries to break into your home and harm your family and the encounter become violent. Is it morally reprehensible for you to hurt this person in self-defense? I mean, you are still harming them so under “harm none” this is not ok. I think most people would agree that defending your life, your home, and your family from an attacker is not a “bad” thing though. And if you wouldn’t defend yourself, what if it was someone else being hurt? If you saw someone being attacked, dragged into an alley towards a vehicle to be kidnaped and did nothing, your inaction would be contributing to the harm they’re experiencing now and after. If you intervene and harm the attacker, however, your action is causing harm. In situations such as these “harm none” falls apart entirely because no matter what you do it’s completely impossible to abide by the rule.

Instead of trying to maintain some totally unreachable standard of moral purity, delve into the complexity of human life. Stop looking for dictated moral solutions and actually take charge of your own actions, beliefs, and consequences. Think about yourself in relation to the world around you, reflect! Find purpose in your actions, decide what matters to you most and make it a center point, do the work to go within yourself and find that guiding inner voice that can help you navigate the trickier moral challenges that you encounter. THIS is real power and true control over your own circumstances. That is how you create a life that is truly in alignment with your joy, your will, and your purpose. This is a key step to walking the path of the grey witch.

A Grey Witch Lives In Duality

Being a grey witch is a person who practices witchcraft and is comfortable with the idea of duality. Duality has been pinned against each other since the dawning of time, a struggle of “good versus evil” a grey witch understands this. Central to the philosophy of a grey witch is the belief that the world operates in shades of grey rather than in simplistic black and white, and this perspective influences their practice of the craft. Grey witches must incorporate duality and balance into their mentality and into their everyday lives.

A Grey Witch Understand Human Nature

A grey witch is a person who has made a decision that humans are both “good and evil”. Philosophy has questioned whether humans are inherently born “good or evil” and if our actions become the true definition of our nature. A grey witch has decided that they don’t have to choose either side. Is it possible to accept that we are only human, which means depending on the moment we can be either wondrous or terrible? Absolutely, and a grey witch has wrestled with this question coming to peace within themselves when choosing this path. This is the path that the grey witch has taken upon their path, recognizing in all things created by nature there is a balance between greatness and evil.

(Note: I don’t use the terms good or evil in my practices or beliefs. These are not terms I agree with nor how I view the world. I don’t believe anything, anyone, or event its wholeheartedly “evil” or “good”. I View the multiverse, it’s energies, and the results of entities actions as wanted or unwanted and that will depend on the entities involved.)

    The Grey Witch and Emotions

Grey witches must incorporate duality and balance into their mentality; often these witches have powerful mental power once mastering this. The hermetic law “As within, so without, as above, so below, as the universe, so the soul.” Teaches us this. This philosophical perspective outlines the idea that who we are on the inside will be created in the world around us. The grey witch understands this law and incorporates this into their life and how they handle their emotions.

They allow themselves to be happy but, leave enough room for bad feelings to run their courses, such as jealousy, anger, and sadness. They do not suppress themselves when dark clouds are around them; they harness the energy of the storm to heal without masking. They understand that every emotion serves a function, is meant to be felt, and is there to communicate something to us.

    The Liminal Space

Similar to the hedge witch, the grey witch lives and thrives in the liminal spaces; since they are dripping in grey energy and magic. What is a liminal space? Liminal comes from the Latin root word Limen, meaning threshold. Therefore, liminal spaces are places where a threshold is crossed. Spaces of transition or between spaces if you want to call them. It’s a space where you leave where you are but you aren’t fully in another space yet. In general a liminal space; is in the between where we can commune with spirit and otherworldly beings, preform energy work such as reiki and other healing methods, revisit past lives to heal personal trauma, and the list goes on. There are physical, spiritual, and magical liminal spaces.

    • Magical liminal spaces are a type of spiritual liminal space that is unique to each practitioner. These magical liminal spaces are personal times of power when the veil between worlds is thinnest for the practitioner
    • Personal liminal spaces are personal characteristics which we embody that are in-between.
    • Spiritual liminal spaces, which can also be identified as experiential liminal spaces, are events or states of being in which we leave something behind but haven’t arrived at our destination when we part with them

Some examples of liminal practices include things like:

    • spirit work – mediumship, possession
    • divination – pendulum, cards, tea leaf reading, palmistry, etc.
    • casting spells – anything requiring manifestation and intention
    • invocation of deity – asking a deity to fill your space with their presence
    • ancestor work – asking for help from your ancestors
    • energy healing – reiki, meditation, trancework, shamanic journeying

    Views Grey Witches Often Have

    • They think it is critical to incorporate the paths of light-work and shadow-work into your practice
    • They do not believe in Karma, the threefold law, or the Rede of “harm none”
    • The phrase “a witch who cannot harm, cannot heal” resonates with them
    • They believe that people are both good and evil
    • They often feel they are forcing positivity or numbing pain
    • They believe there is not only one path but two. To protect themselves and their loved ones, they will weave through light or darkness
    • They may not even believe in the terms “good” and “evil”
    • They might find that misusing energy can be harmful and reserve their energy work for times they feel personally called to justice.
    • They might also only use their magic when trying to gain balance in the universe for themselves or those they hold dear.
    • Being a witch is a political act in itself, however, a grey witch has the great hope that they can help restore justice for humanity.
    • They could also have the belief that they are a neutral force rather than a dual one.
    • It doesn’t matter to a grey witch how you view them; they know that opinion is subjective from person to person

How to Incorporate Grey Witchcraft into Your Practices

Grey witches work with a broad spectrum of spirits, celestials, and ancestors both living and those to come. Grey witches follow their intuition and the ebb and flow of balance and call on the entities needed to either create and/or maintain balance with each spell, working, or ritual, they perform or cast. What matters to them is how they feel when inspired at that moment, how they process their inner healing, at times enacting justice, and most importantly maintaining balance.

    • Find ways to include balance in your mindset and spiritual practice
    • Utilize magical intentions that involve Nature because the natural world is also neutral and balanced
    • Integrate shadow work into your practice. Allow yourself to work through negative thoughts and feelings; don’t try to suppress them
    • Study and incorporate spell work and magical intentions that create balance and combine positive and negative energy
    • Connect with ancestors, gods, goddesses, or deities that embrace balance and duality
    • Add all five elements in your practice

The Grey Witch and Shadow Work

Meeting your shadow self can be traumatic. Working through it doesn’t mean you cover up stuff with light or light work though, you can only work through it, and accept it. You embrace the darkness as it is, and allow it to grow, mold and reshape itself as it sees fit, if it sees fit. This is the difference between a grey witch and others when it comes to shadow work. You don’t work through your shadow to get to your light, or work with it in the sense to transform it. You simply embrace it, comfort it, understand it, and allow it grow and mold and shape as it sees fit. You allow it to express itself in the way it needs to be like in rage, grief, fear, etc. and you access that expression for some potent magic, energy, and self awareness.

Grey Magic; Walking The Balanced Path of Witchcraft

The main intention of a Grey witch is to be a catalyst in healing. The light is a symbol of our higher divine mind and the dark the deeper, unconscious part of self, the primal, the animal, the profound power of physicality. A balance between the two unlocks the magic of our spiritual potential on our path of witchcraft. Being a grey witch is the most beautiful evolved form of a human being. The one without illusions and lies or masks. It’s just you, the whole you, a raw force and undeniable spirit that captures and commands everything around you .Whether embracing the shadow that lives within us all or changing your frequencies to rise above, the grey witch is a powerful being mastering all the energies in the multiverse in one being.

“A grey Witch I am and forever will be,
a balance of both dwells deep inside of me.
For I am not black, nor am I white.
I will walk in the darkness, I will walk in the light. I seek no harm and my intentions are just. But make no mistake, I’ll do what I must. So take heed of my word, I give you insight. For I am grey, I will defend, and I will fight.”

Beltane; Connecting To The Passion, Creativity, and Sexuality Of The Divine Co-Creators

Beltane ignites the Earth with a primal hum of fertility, a sacred symphony of life bursting forth. As spring unfurls its vibrant tapestry, flowers bloom in radiant hues, birds weave nests for their fledglings, animals seek mates under the warming sun, and farmers sow seeds for the abundant summer ahead. This is a time to revel in the Earth’s fertility, a season of growth, transformation, and divine union, much like the abundance Lakshmi brought us this Earth Day. Beltane, a Celtic fire festival, invites us to connect with the passionate dance of the divine co-creators—the masculine and feminine energies that seed all life. As Keeper of Mysteries, I feel this sacred day light a fire in my soul, awakening passion, creativity, and sexuality, urging us to transform into our truest selves. Let’s step into the flickering flames of Beltane together and weave magic with the divine.

    The History of Beltane

Beltane traces its roots to ancient Celtic traditions, a fire festival marking the transition from winter’s chill to summer’s warmth. The name “Beltane” comes from the Celtic god Bel, meaning “Shining One,” and tene, meaning “fire,” translating to “Fire of Bel” or “Great Fire.” Its earliest recorded mention appears in the Irish medieval text Sanas Cormaic, penned by Cormac mac Cuilennáin, king-bishop of Munster, before 908 CE. For the Celts, who recognized only two seasons—summer and winter—Beltane heralded the planting season, a time to honor the Earth’s fertility and the sun’s life-giving power.

In the Northern Hemisphere, Beltane begins at moonrise on April 30 and continues through May 1, while in the Southern Hemisphere, it spans October 31 to November 1. Though Celtic in origin, Beltane echoes countless global fire and fertility festivals, from England’s May Day to Germany’s Walpurgisnacht, or “Witches’ Night.” As a cross-quarter holiday on the Wheel of the Year—a sacred calendar observed by many pagans, especially Wiccans—Beltane sits halfway between the Spring Equinox and Summer Solstice, joining Imbolc, Samhain, and Lughnassadh as one of the four fire festivals. These sabbats were historically celebrated with bonfires, symbolizing the sun’s journey and its vital role in the cycles of life.

    The Fires of Beltane

At its core, Beltane is a fire festival, a tradition that has burned bright from ancient times into the 19th century. In Ireland, farmers would drive their cattle between two towering bonfires, a ritual believed to purify the herds, ward off disease, and ensure their safety through summer. These fires also served a practical purpose, clearing brush to make way for planting and pasture. Communities would extinguish their hearth fires, only to relight them with embers from the sacred Beltane bonfires, a symbolic renewal of life. Hillsides blazed with fires to honor the sun, invoking fertility for crops and livestock, while young people leapt over the flames for luck and abundance. To create a true Beltane fire, the Celts gathered wood from nine different trees, igniting it through friction—a sacred act of creation mirroring the divine spark, much like the synchronicities Sophia taught us to trust.

    Beltane and fertility

Beltane heralds the Earth’s peak fertility, a time when the Great Mother blossoms with bounty, her fields and forests teeming with life. As above, so below—if the Earth is fertile, so are we, her children. The sun, growing brighter and warmer, nourishes the seeds sown in spring, embodying the divine masculine counterpart to the feminine Earth. Together, they are the co-creators, their union reflected in every blooming flower and mating creature. This sacred dance of fertility mirrors the abundance of Mother Earth’s rhythms.

    Beltane and Sexuality

Fertility at Beltane naturally intertwines with sexuality, the primal force that seeds life. This sabbat celebrates the cosmic union of the divine co-creators, a passionate dance of sacred sex that ignites the cosmos with life. We feel this fire in our own loins, a burning desire to create, to connect, to manifest. Beltane awakens our sexual energies, urging us to embrace our raw, primal selves and channel this passion into transformation. Just as the Earth blooms, so do our desires, inviting us to seed new beginnings in our lives, whether through physical creation or the manifestation of our deepest dreams.

    The Sacred Dance of Duality

As a grey witch, I see duality in every sacred moment, and Beltane blazes with it. This festival honors the divine masculine and feminine, two energies that coexist within us all, regardless of gender. Beltane is a mirror reflecting the union of earthly and celestial forces. In the flames of Beltane, we connect these energies within ourselves, embodying the sacred marriage of opposites. For me, this day feels like a cosmic embrace, allowing all parts of me to dance in unison, weaving passion and creativity into a unified whole.

    The Maypole

A quintessential Beltane symbol, the maypole is a tree adorned with ribbons, paints, and a floral crown, brought into the village as a focal point of celebration. Villagers dance around it, weaving the ribbons in a rhythmic dance that symbolizes the union of the divine masculine (the phallus of the pole) and feminine (the Earth’s energy in the ribbons). This act of co-creation mirrors the divine partnership, a physical manifestation of the fertility and love Beltane celebrates

    Common Traditions

Beltane traditions are rich with magic and community:

    • Druids would collect the dew prior to Sunrise on May 1st. This water was believed to have magickal powers such as healing ailments or creating beauty.
    • Handfastings and other pagan wedding celebrations often take place during this sabbat as it is a time to celebrate love and fertility.
    • Special oatmeal cakes are a popular food item for this sabbat. Often the cakes had knobs that could be torn off to sacrifice into the bonfires as an offering.
    • Decorating the interiors and exteriors of homes with flowers during this time was a common practice to celebrate the fertility of the land. The most common were yellow flowers such as primrose and marigolds. Cows were also decorated with flowers as well.
    • The May Bush was a small thorny tree or large bush, and was decorated with flowers, ribbons, and so on. People could have a May Bush for their home or for their community as a whole. Dancing around it was thought to bring good luck!
    • Couples would often spend the night in the forest together on the Eve of Beltane, they would return in the morning bearing floral decorations for the homes. This was sometimes termed a Greenwood Marriage.
    • May Baskets would be filled with small candies, baked goods, and flowers. They were placed on the doorknobs of neighbors as tokens of friendship.

    Ways to Celebrate Beltane

We have talked about many different themes, and energies you can connect to during this time from fertility, abundance, sexuality, passion, creativity, transformation, and more. Let’s talk about how we can connect to and celebrate those themes and energies now. First, you can participate and honor any of the deities listed above or that are associated with Spring, Summer, The god, the Goddess, and the sun. You can work with any affirmations, mantras, and visualization work for manifestation, passion, union, creation, abundance, fertility, sexuality, and transformation. Beltane’s energies of fertility, passion, and transformation invite us to celebrate in meaningful ways. Here are some rituals to honor this sacred time, inspired by the divine co-creation of this holiday.

    Have a bonfire

As we talked about above, first and foremost beltane was celebrated as fire festival and the ancient celts used to pass their cattle through two of them to purify and cleanse them. So, what better way to connect to beltane and celebrate it than to build, lit, and enjoy a bonfire of your own! It’s common to do this with others, have some drinks, and leap over the flames for good luck and prosperity. Just be safe!

    Perform a burning release

You already have the fire burning so why not use it for some release magic? One of my favorite ways to release unwanted habits, energies, people, and things from my life is to burn it away with fire. Take a piece of paper, focus on what it is you want to release from your life, write it on that piece of paper than walk up to your bonfire and as you let the paper fall and be burned in the flames visualize what you wrote being burned to ashes in your life as well.

    Erect a Maypole
The Maypole has been a traditional May Day activity for centuries. What better way to celebrate Beltane, and honor your ancestors, than to make your own Maypole? Grab a pole, some ribbon, and some flowers, and erect one in your own yard and braid the ribbons together as you dance around in the warmth of the summer sun.

    Dance

Beltane is a very fertile time full of energy, passion, and creativity, so what better way to connect to that energy than to move with it. We can do this by moving our hips, our womb spaces and moving our body through dance. Dancing allows us to move energy around, connect to the movements of energy around us in a dynamic way, and opens up our womb space to connect to sexual energy. So, get up move your body through dance and maybe even do so around a bonfire!

    Perform Sex Magic

Beltane is a time burning with passion, sexual desire and is all about connecting to the sacred union of the divine co-creators. Now, is in my opinion the most potent time to connect to not only their sexual energy around you but, to yours as well. Take this time to perform both solo sex magic and sex magic with a partner. to connect to your true sexual form, to perform the most potent manifestation work, and to unleash your raw primal sexual desires like never before. It was a common tradition in ancient times for couples to perform sex rites out in the woods even; on Beltane’s eve. I promise you sex on Beltane is one of the most orgasmic, cosmic, and pleasurable experiences you can have. Give it a try this Beltane!

    Wild Flower Crafting
Wild flowers have always been a big part of the Beltane celebrations. In ancient times, specific white and yellow flowers were gathered and hung over the doorways in Ireland to celebrate the day and invoke fertility and abundance. So go and pick wildflowers, Beltane is the perfect day for it! Then return home and make a bouquet. Or if you’re feeling really crafty, make flower wreaths, crowns or garland to decorate yourself and your home or to place on your altar

    Refresh Your Altar
Another way to connect to a holiday and/or sacred day I always recommend is to cleanse and refresh your altar and/or sacred space. This is particularly beneficial if you have Celtic gods you honor and connect to already. Use water or fire to cleanse, then decorate with wildflowers, images of the fae, the divine masculine, the divine feminine, and any of the Beltane correspondences we talked about earlier.

    Work with the Green Man
The Green Man is a legendary figure in Celtic lore and throughout Europe. He is a guardian of the forest and likely a type of elemental. When he’s seen, he is typically covered from head to foot in leaves, branches, flowers and moss. Some believe he is an ancient god of the wilderness, who protects the wildlife and sacred, unspoiled places in nature. Work with the Green Man’s energy on Beltane by hiking in the woods, or even by creating space for him on your altar.

    Simmer pot for beltane

Whether you consider yourself a Kitchen Witch, are vaguely interested in Kitchen Magic or just want to bring some good vibes and good smells into your home, simmer pots are an easy, accessible and fun ritual for any time of year! Simmer pots are easy to create and customize to your liking, so you can make your kitchen a sacred space whenever you want! So, why not make one specifically to call in and honor the energy of Beltane? Do you Need more information about simmer pots? Check out my guide here and my spell post here! Can you tell I love these containers of magic?

    Perform Fae Magic
In ancient times, and up to the modern era, the Celtic people believe strongly in the Fae, also called the faery folk, good folk or sidhe. Every Beltane, great care was taken to appease the fae, to prevent them from whisking away all the butter and milk. By leaving out faery offerings on Beltane, you’re carrying on this tradition and starting a working relationship with the fae. Or make a witch’s ladder with intention of appeasing the fae. Make faery houses and a space for the garden.

    Perform Purifications and Cleansing Rituals

We talked about above how beltane was seen as time to purify and cleanse for the celts. They would take the time to pass their cattle through two bonfires to cleanse them even. This is a great time for you to do some cleansing and purifying as well. Perform cleansing and purifying rituals on your home and yourself like smoke cleansing, ritual baths, floor washes, or any rituals you prefer to use in your practices.

    Candle Spells
Not everyone can have a big fire on Beltane. So for those of us who want to invoke the power of the fire element, simply lighting a few candles is enough. Casting candle spells on Beltane is also a potent way to send your intentions into the ether. Particularly if you’re looking to increase fertility, prosperity and creativity in your life. Perform a Beauty Ritual

Any beauty rituals performed on Beltane are amplified by the fiery, Summer magic on this sacred day. Take a ritual milk bath, drink an herbal beauty concoction, and craft your own magical beauty products.

    Five Senses Nature Walk

Beltane is the midway point between the spring equinox and the summer solstice which is all about the cycle and movement of nature and marking the most fertile time for new life to grow, blossom, and be seeded. So why not take the time to connect to nature itself? Soak in all the fertility and abundance in nature right now. You can do this by going on a five sense nature walk. After you have engaged all your senses, walk back to your home. Reflect on your experience by writing it down in a journal

    Perform Egg magic for fertility

Beltane is deeply associated with fertility, symbolized by the divine union in various traditions, such as the Great Rite in Wicca or the coupling of The Morrigan and the Dagda in Irish Celtic lore. This makes it an ideal time for fertility spells, particularly those using eggs, a universal symbol of life and creation. Egg magic can involve rituals like decorating eggs with symbols of fertility, burying them in the earth to “plant” your intentions, or using eggshells in spell work to enhance growth and abundance. For detailed guidance, check out my blog on egg magic here. This practice is especially potent for those seeking to conceive or foster new beginnings in their lives.

      Make a Beltane Spell Jar

Spell jars are a versatile and powerful tool for harnessing Beltane’s energy. To create one, select a jar and cleanse it thoroughly (e.g., with smoke or moonlight). Choose ingredients that align with Beltane’s themes of fertility, abundance, and transformation—such as rose petals for love, cinnamon for passion, or seeds for growth. As you add each item, focus on your specific intention, visualizing abundance and prosperity. Seal the jar with a lid, and for extra potency, add sigils or seal it with wax. Place the jar on your altar or in a prominent location, shaking it occasionally to reactivate the magic. Do you need to learn more about spell jars? Beltane Ritual/Spell: Fire of Abundance Candle Spell

This simple yet powerful candle spell harnesses Beltane’s fiery energy to call in abundance, creativity, and passion into your life. It’s perfect for those who can’t have a large bonfire but still want to honor the fire element during this sacred time

      What You’ll Need:

      • A small green or gold candle (for abundance and prosperity)
      • A pinch of dried herbs like basil or chamomile (for growth and success)
      • A small piece of paper and a pen
      • A fire-safe dish or holder
      • Optional: A few drops of rose or cinnamon essential oil (for passion and attraction)

      Steps:

      1. Prepare Your work area: Find a quiet space where you won’t be disturbed. Cleanse the area with smoke (like sage or palo santo) or by visualizing a purifying light surrounding you, tying into the purification rituals mentioned earlier.

      2. Set Your Intention: On the piece of paper, write down what you wish to call into your life—abundance, creativity, a new project, or even fertility. Be specific and focus on the feelings of already having this in your life.

      3. Dress the Candle: If using essential oil, anoint the candle by rubbing a few drops onto it, moving from the bottom to the top to draw energy in. Sprinkle the dried herbs onto the candle or around its base, visualizing them infusing the candle with growth and prosperity.

      4. Light the Candle: Place the candle in its holder. As you light it, say:

“By the fire of Beltane, I call in abundance and light. May creativity, prosperity, and passion ignite in my life. So it is.”

Feel the warmth of the flame as a symbol of Beltane’s transformative power.

      5. Burn Your Intention: Carefully light the paper with your intention using the candle flame, then place it in the fire-safe dish to burn completely. As it burns, visualize your intention rising with the smoke, carried into the universe to manifest.

      6. Close the Ritual: Let the candle burn down safely (never leave it unattended). If you need to extinguish it, snuff it out rather than blowing it out to keep the energy contained. Once the candle is done, bury any remnants (wax, herbs, or ash) in your garden or a potted plant to ground the spell and symbolize growth.
