For me it’s anything that encompasses growth for yourself and your life.
It’s the intentional acts and/or reflection you are doing to grow as a person to better yourself, your soul, your community, your family, and your life.
This is what we do to be happy, feel whole, and to help us both uncover our sacred contracts and divine purposes, to live our life in accordance with them to fulfill them!
Which means this can encompass and cover ALOT of things!
From shadow work and reflection to taking care of your physical health, developing your own belief system, seeking mental health help and using the skills they teach you, to goal setting and more!
This topic is a deep seeded passion of mine!
Let me tell you why and why I feel I have so much to share on this topic!
In 2015 I got married to my amazing husband after being together for 4.5 years already, I turned 25 shortly after that and I completely broke.
Quarter life crisis
If anyone doesn’t think this is a thing. I promise you it is.
My depression and anxiety got so bad, I would curl up into a ball while shaking and crying on the floor in front of the door to our house because I had to leave it to go to work or the store for groceries.
It got to the point where, I called into work so many times, had used all my PTO, FMLA, Sick pay all of it that I was fired. All while I was lying to my husband about it.
Telling him I had been going to work and getting sent home early or if he went in after me that I had taken a half day of PTO that morning.
Because, I had no idea what was going on and how do you explain to others I literally can not get my body or mind to leave my house without a severe breakdown.
And being fired from my job only made things worse for me.
I shame spiraled hard and fast!
I had never failed like that before.
I am not going to lie it took much longer than I would have liked to get to the point where I could even begin to think about personal development and how to get there.
It took me an entire year of literally just being depressed and anxious and sitting in front of a tv to numb myself and a lot of weed.
But, than I hit this moment when I was shaking, crying, and about to throw up again from the anxiety of how much longer can I keep feeling like this? How much longer am I going to be able to do this mentally, emotionally and physically?
And if I won’t be able to do this much longer than what am I going to do? How am I going to get out of this space?
This moment sparked my personal development obsession and journey!
Where I spent the next 5 plus years gobbling up everything I could get my hands on, blogs, books, therapies, self help books, podcasts, youtube videos, learning how to bullet journal, taking workshops, retreats and classes, and so much more.
In that 5 plus years I succeeded and failed many times. Went thru CBT, DBT, and a handful of trauma therapies. Dealt with isolation, depression, anxiety and more. Was diagnosed with OCD, Bipolar 2 disorder, PTSD, a binge eating disorder, BPD, DID, Severe anxiety and depression.
I have done the work to no longer meet criteria for some of those and a few I have gotten to a very healthy and manageable level. That doesn’t mean I am cured and I still have days and moments and situations where I struggle.
So, let me help you do that too!
Let me be a support to you!
Let me be a guide to you!
Let me teach you what worked for me and help you sift thru the many ways you can work on your personal development in all areas of your life, like self care, physical health, mental health, and your own personal belief systems and values!
With Valentine’s Day right around the corner I know many of us are thinking about love, romance, and our relationships. Especially, those of us in marriages or committed relationships/partnerships.
I know for me during this time of year our sex life usually sees an increase or a change in style and I end up reflecting a lot on what has been going on recently and the last year of my marriage.
For me this time of year is a romance/ relationship reset. I usually am so focused the month of January on New year goal setting and planning that is more focused on myself, my family as whole, and finances etc. With all the holidays focused on connection, romance and renewal this time of year for me it makes so much sense this happens.
This year was different than all the rest.
This past year in particular had been one of the most difficult and challenging years my husband and I have had in the 13 years we have been together.
And when I say difficult; we both had many moments where we for the first didn’t know if we would actually make it and stay together. There were more fights and tears in this one year than we had experienced in the entire 12 before this. The “D” word divorce was even said many times this past year in our home.
For many reasons this year was challenging; life struggles, mental health, still adjusting to no longer being just the two of us, and financial struggles.
But, the biggest reason our connection was just off.
We were miscommunicating all the time.
We both thought the other one was attacking the other one with our words often when the other one had no intention of doing so.
Our sex life had some hiccups and slowed down for the first time, not even having our son had done this.
We both were isolating ourselves from the other one when we could and we were no longer doing things together for connection and fun. We would do things in the same room or home but, not together.
Our fights and disagreements had gotten to the point we were now saying personal attacks towards each other and keeping a tally of rights and wrongs and nothing was ever getting fully discussed or worked thru.
We both felt like we weren’t being heard and that the other was not putting in effort to mend the repairs and move our relationship forward in a more positive direction and frankly for it just to survive.
And we wanted it to survive.
Our marriage and our connection with each other has and will always be something deeply sacred to us. And even though we both had thrown out in frustration and hurt thru tears that we should separate and maybe we weren’t meant for each other anymore and had grown apart.
We both wanted desperately to get to the core of what was going on and find the effective way to navigate it. I don’t know how many times we had conversations about what the issue was, how we were going to work on it together, and what we both needed. We would end up with us just hitting another wall and both of us in tears wondering how we could have gotten here again.
Than one day recently something happened that caused me to reflect.
My little family was playing around on our bed, cuddling, laughing, tickling and by the end of it I had ended up laying across my husband in a cuddling way almost draped on him. And the comment he made next both rocked me and caused me to have to go and reflect on so much.
He said he had forgotten what it felt like to have me laying on top of him like that and it felt unfamiliar now.
Like, I said I was rocked and taken back. I was also sad and bewildered that we had gotten so far disconnected from each other. My husband didn’t recognize a feeling that used to be a very common part of our lives.
I took those emotions and thoughts and really sat with them and reflected on what this really truly means and how it had effected us. And if this could be apart of why we were struggling so much with what felt like no progress.
What came to me was obvious and surprising I had missed it.
The first thing I realized was it was true and how had I missed it? We had not cuddled like that in so long. I could try and blame it on many things; like we are a family who co-sleeps and even at almost 3 years old our son is still in our bed every night. Or that for a year I was working overnights and not even in bed 4 nights a week.
But, as I kept reflecting I knew those things couldn’t be blamed for it because, we could have added it to part of our day at others times and didn’t. So, why didn’t we?
As I was still working on figuring that out, I started to wonder were there other simple things we were not doing anymore in our marriage? And if so, how was that affecting us and how did we let those little things slip away ?
I realized quickly there were other little things we either had stopped completely, or they were not happening as often as typical for us. And even at times there were things that would only happen if we were not fighting.
We were not kissing each other as often or long. Or saying I love you. And pet names weren’t happening as often.
And that helped me realize how we got disconnected.
Our pet names had become mom and dad since we had become parents. We heard those two names from one another more than anything else.
So, they had become solely who we were. We had become just mom and dad now. We were no longer individuals let alone husband and wife. And I knew that I really had disappeared into that part of my identity personally.
Being a mom had become my priority.
For so many moms especially first time moms this is something common to happen. You all of sudden have this tiny little human that is depending on you for absolutely everything.
You are in a state of mind of overwhelm all the time as you try and learn how to both care for your new child and learn who you actually are as a mother.
And let’s not forget the constant physical overstimulation. Which by the way wasn’t even part of my every day vocabulary until I was A mother.
On top of that I have abuse, neglect, and childhood trauma that colors every parenting decision I make especially right in the beginning. I was desperate to the point of it being paralyzing at times to be break generational patterns in my family. The mindset that I am who I am in spite of my parents and upbringing could definitely be used to describe myself and my parenting.
With all this combined, I had become solely focused on being a mom
To the point where I wouldn’t even leave my son. He is almost 3 now as I write this and to this day no one has baby sat him for more than one hour ( 1 time). It took me over a year and half to even leave him alone with his dad.
I spent all day long filling every single moment with learning, developing and creating a healthy attachment with my son and my husband as a family unit.
And I had completely lost sight of not only myself and this new version of myself but, I had lost sight of my role as a wife separate from being a family. And how important daily intentions and small little things helped foster that connection.
I had forgotten how we had been just the two of us for a decade prior.
Which made my husband feel like I was forgetting him on a daily basis. And if you feel forgotten how are you suppose to stay connected to one another?
So how was I going to let my husband know that he was not forgotten and how was I going to make that connection an intentional priority each day.
By kissing randomly, saying I love you just because, making physical contact randomly when you can like cuddling during tv, talking the time each day to check in with each other as partners and not at parents, and more.
Once I realized this what did I do?
I took what I had realized and I made it my main goal to be very intentional with creating those small moments of intentional connection with my husband completely separate from my son and as a family unit.
When he was sleeping in the morning while I was up, I would go in and kiss him periodically and whisper I love him so he could start his day in love and connection every morning when he woke up. I would also make sure to stop and kiss him for 30-60 seconds throughout the day to continue to foster that connection.
I was intentional with noticing when we were alone together and made the choice to be mindful and fully present to simply just be in same space with each other and in each other’s energies instead of going to do on of the many things my brain had on it’s to do list or to go check on my son.
At the end of the day, I started checking in with him to see if there was anything I could have done differently that day to foster connection between us or if there was anything he needed from me to do that.
The difference this made and how quickly suprised me!
Seriously, in about 4-6 weeks our communication started to improve and we were fighting less often. Not personally attacking each other and taking the time to hear each other an apologize when we needed to.
I had some big issues I was working thru with my husband that suddenly were easier to radically accept. ( I will leave the details for another article. )
Our sex life improved in so many ways and now looks so different in the most liberating and cosmic ways.
The feelings of isolation were less.
The feeling unheard and misunderstood by each other was being expressed less and less as well.
We had begun to feel like a team again and like this wasn’t possibly the end of our time together in this life.
The small moments and intentions had rekindled our connection.
They had given us exactly what we needed to reset our relationship and commit to be able to keep working through this patch of growth TOGEHER IN THE SAME DIRECTION!
Are we out of the patch completely? NO. Which is why we are committed to remembering we learned and making those small moments of intentional connection happen each and every day where we are just husband and wife and not mom and dad.
In Greek Mythology, it was Chiron who taught humanity the constellations. That’s huge. Chiron is our celestial teacher. In Greek mythology, Chiron is a Centaur: half man, half horse. While most Centaurs were considered menacing, Chiron was “famous for his wisdom and knowledge of medicine.”
Chiron is a centaur, and the myth goes that Chiron was abandoned at birth and left to fend for himself. It was through this wound of abandonment and difficult upbringing that he was able to rise up and turn its wounds into powerful portals of healing.
Chiron won’t heal your suffering. He will, however, show you where it is and walk you down the path to your own realization. Kind of like with Saturn, the great teacher, you have to do the work.
Chiron’s role as the “wounded healer” is a testament to the transformative power of pain. Just as Chiron couldn’t heal his own wound but used his suffering to heal others, we are called to transform our deepest hurts into our greatest strengths. It’s like turning lead into gold in the alchemical process of personal growth.
Chiron the asteroid
Chiron is not technically a planet but an asteroid that orbits between Saturn and Uranus. Even though Chiron is not a planet, in astrology, it is still a significant cosmic energy to work with.
Some astrologers consider Chiron a celestial enigma. This portrays a sense of the mystical. Mystics were born of suffering. Their lives were not easy. It was only through the lessons of the challenges they faced that they obtained certain supernatural abilities: gifts.
The position of Chiron between Saturn and Uranus is also significant to understanding the energy it brings.
Saturn is a very grounded, rooted energy, whereas Uranus is considered a planet of a higher vibration. Uranus’ energy can also bring about awakenings and the rise of kundalini energy.
Chiron can act as a bridge between these two states of being and is sometimes referred to as the Rainbow Bridge. The Rainbow bridge signifies the linking between one state of consciousness
Chiron the Myth
Chiron is a centaur; a half man and half horse entity. While the centaurs are traced to King Ixion and nymph Nephele, Chiron was the son of Cronos and the Oceanid Philyra. His parentage makes him a brother to the Olympian gods and puts him above other centaurs.
According to the myth, Cronus had turned himself into a horse to escape his jealous wife, Rhea, and seduced Philyra. From this union, Chiron was born – a centaur, half-horse, half-human.
His parentage significantly influenced his personality and life. Unlike other centaurs who were often depicted as wild, lustful, and chaotic, Chiron was wise, civilized, and kind.
Chiron gained the knowledge and wisdom he later shared with many famous mythological characters from Apollo. After Chiron’s mother abandoned him as a child, Apollo found, adopted and educated him. Thus, Chiron’s skills resemble those of the god of prophecy. Among his areas of expertise, other than the mentioned ability to prophesize, were other domains of Apollo – music, medicine and hunting. According to some accounts Artemis also had a say in his education. Namely, in his archery and hunting skills.
Chiron took his knowledge of medicinal herbs to such a masterful level that he later became a teacher of the famous physician of Greek mythology – the son of Apollo, Asclepius. But the list of famous heroes tutored by Chiron is much longer than that. He is credited for teaching Achilles, Jason, Heracles, Theseus and Peleus.
As a son of Cronus, Chiron was blessed with immortality. And as a great healer, he was in a favourable position. But none of those two things saved him from his fate. One day he found himself in the middle of a fight between angered centaurs and Heracles – his old student. An arrow not meant for him flew from Heracles’s bow and landed in Chiron’s knee.Full of guilt and concern, Heracles took out the arrow and Chiron himself applied medicine to the wound. But the arrow was poisoned and so it caused the centaur great pain. Eventually, the pain became unbearable and Chiron agreed to trade his immortal life for the relief of death. He arranged to give away his immortality to Prometheus and passed away. Some versions of the myth claim that it wasn’t the pain but the long life he already lived that made him wish for death.
How to work with Chiron
When Chiron is is active and influencing the collective it is the perfect time to focus on your inner healing and transformation. And I mean it is time to really focus and go deep. This is the time to look at those things you know are there but, have still been putting of and avoiding to work thru and deal with. Chiron is here to guide you thru that work and on to the path you were meant to walk. Chiron will guide you with wisdom thru the portal of pain and your deepest wounds and out into the wide open expansive space of your sacred purpose and contract.
How you do this with him is thru very intentional shadow work. There are many ways to do this whether you do it thru, auto scripting to receive messages, journaling, getting yourself into therapy, divination, or entering a meditative state while working thru specific shadow prompts for the wounds you are trying to heal and transform into purpose and power.
Let Chiron guide you thru the portal of pain by working thru your wounds to transform yourself and enter your sacred purpose to better serve the collective as Chiron did.
If you need to know more about how to do shadow work you can check out my resource section of the website for a study guide and class I have already done on shadow work and keep an eye out for blog posts to come!

Who am I as a practitioner?
I have been a solitary grey magic practitioner for 15 + years.
First and foremost, I consider myself a mystic and seeker of all knowledge. I study from many different sources, paths, pantheons, religions, cultures, teachers and practices. Two of my main patron deities were keepers of the schools of mysteries ( hades & Persephone).
And I am dedicated to becoming one with the multiverse through all esoteric and occult knowledge. I am dedicated to the restoration and re-enchantment of magic into this realm, our lives, and society.
I have practiced and studied from many different teachers and masters in areas such as shamanism, magic(k), witchcraft, religion and spiritual practices.
I focus my studies on being as accurate to the culture and religion as possible throughout history and representing things across many different paths and practices. I study and create my path from the mix of all the things I study thru discernment, intuition, and guidance.
I am a grey magic practitioner.
Which means I work with both dark and light energy and strive to maintain constant duality in my practice and life. I live and thrive in the grey.
I do not view things in the terms of “good” vs “evil” I view everything as energy and as either wanted or unwanted energy. What one person may view as good and evil is subjective to each and everyone of us.
I believe in sacred contracts, and have discovered many of mine and strive to live in a way to fulfill it this lifetime. I’ve done a lot of past live regression and work and continue to do more to this day to unlock more of my past lives and knowledge I have gained through each incarnation. I do this through many way like currently working with a mentor on past life regression therapy, Ive done Akashic record work, studying and worked with auto writing, and astral travel and work as well.
I work with all the dark goddesses and have the ability to channel and invoke deities. I Love the connections I have with many deities and the energy they allow me access to connect to through a different perspective but, I also understand I myself am a goddess and divine being in my own right as well.
My magic is very folk, ceremonial, energy based and elemental based with some chaos magic mixed in and some others. I really do dabble in large variety.
I write every single prayer, spell, invocation, and circle casting personally I use.
I work with many divination tools and practices such as all forms of scrying, tarot, runes, etc.
I work with deity energy, archetype energy, chakras, the collective uncounscious, all forms of nature, other entities such as demons, the fae, and all supernatural entities.
I focus heavily on moon energy in practice and in my daily life and home.
My knowledge is extensive across many practices, topics and paths.
My energy and magick is naturally very healing, purifying and cleansing and I love to provide that to others as it is a key part to my soul contract.
I cant wait to teach you on so many topics from basics in magic(k), to different pagan religions, different paths, and how to fulfill your responsibility of duality as a magic(k) practitioner and pagan.
It’s February the month all about love, romance, sex, and fertility and we have two major holidays that focus on that for us to celebrate. Most people know about one of them; Valentine’s Day but, do you know where that holiday originates from? Well, that would be Lupercalia, an Ancient Roman festival for fertility and purification. Some even call it the Pagan Valentine’s Day. So, if you don’t want to get sucked into all the commercialism and Christianized holiday plus have a lot more fun and pleasure, Lupercalia is definitely the holiday for you! In this post I will walk you thru both holidays and you can pick which one is more fun to celebrate this month for yourself.
So, What is Lupercalia?
Lupercalia is an ancient Roman festival of fertility and purification. It’s celebrated from February 14th to the 15th and predates Valentine’s Day by centuries! Every year, the ancient Romans would perform rituals and then throw parties all in the name of purification. To purify the city of Rome on this festival guaranteed a good crop, plenty of pregnant ladies, and overall good health and happy people for the whole city. As with most pagan holidays, No one is really sure how far back this Roman festival really goes, but some have traced it back to the 6th century BC. And others date it back to long before Rome was a power. But many agree that It is a Shepard’s festival that was brought to Rome by Romulus and Remus.
The legend of Romulus and Remus; the myth behind Lupercalia
The legend has it that the Roman king, King Amulius, orders his twin nephews to be killed because of their mother’s broken vow of celibacy. The king ordered for them to be thrown in the Tiber River. Instead of just being tossed in- they were placed safely in a basket by a servant. The river-god is said to have carried the basket down river where it got caught in the branches of a wild fig tree. The twins were rescued by a she-wolf who lived in a den at the base of Palatine Hill.
Later, the twins were adopted by a Shepard and his wife and they learned the shepherds’ trade. After killing their uncle- King Amulius, they found the den of the she-wolf that had raised them and whose name was Lupercal. Lupercalia is the celebration to honor both the God and the she-wolf that raised them. In addition to being linked to the wolf, Lupercalia was a “breastfeeding” festival. Specifically representing the fertility tied to the founders of Rome – Romulus and Remus needed to survive when they were thrown into the river.
Who is the god Lupercus?
Lupercus, was an ancient Roman Italian divinity, who was worshipped by shepherds as the protector of their flocks against wolves, and at the same time as the promoter of the fertility among sheep. His sanctuary was the Lupercal, where she-wolf took care of Romulus and Remus. Lupercus is sometimes identified alongside the god Pan in Greek mythology.
So, how did they celebrate Lupercalia?
Ritual sacrifice was completed by the Roman’s to start off this festival. There was a sacrifice of a goat and a dog. The goat for fertility and the dog was most likely to honor the she-wolf. The Roman priests, called Luperci, would sacrifice the goat and the dog, smear the blood on the foreheads of 2 youths and as they wiped it away with a piece of milk-soaked wool, the youths were required to laugh. After the Ritual Sacrifice, came the feast. When the feasting was over, the skin of the goat would be cut into strips or thongs (called februa). The men would then run around naked, or nearly naked, whipping women with the thongs. A lot of women welcomed the lashes as they believed it to be a fertility consecration. Getting whipped was supposed to make you fertile, so the more whippings, the more fertile you were. It was even said by visitors from other cities that the women would “bare” their skin and welcome the whippings. This part of the ritual was also a symbolic gesture of purification of the men and a symbolic purification of the land. Later, during the Lupercalia festival, men would chose women’s names from a jar and would be coupled with them for the festival. Some sources reference this as the lottery of Lupercalia. This festival was all about fertility and sex so all sorts of debauchery happened. Sometimes, they would even stay together until the next year’s festival, or even get married. Over time, the sexuality of the festival was lost until it was fully clothed men whipping women’s hands. BORING!
How did Lupercalia become Valentine’s day?
Saint Valentine was said to be a priest named Valentine who was imprisoned and beheaded by Roman Emperor Claudius II for assisting persecuted Christians and secretly marrying Christian couples in love. He even tired converting Claudius to Christianity while he was imprisoned. He was beheaded on February 14, which later became known as Valentine’s Day. I know you are thinking, okay so how does this become Valentine’s day, well we all know the Catholic church and it doesn’t matter how long it takes they find a reason to Christianize a holiday. Well, after the Catholic church declared Valentine a saint, a pope in 494 CE, Pope Gelasius I eliminated the pagan festival of Lupercalia. He decided that February 14 would be the day to celebrate Saint Valentine, who had become known as the patron of lovers because of the couples he had married. Plus the date they picked just so happened to fall in the middle of Lupercalia that they really needed to get rid of.

How to celebrate Lupercalia
However you choose to work with the Lupercalia magic and energies make sure to follow your intuition where it leads you. Make sure you tap into the energies of fertility, renewal, purification, pleasure, and prosperity. In your everyday life, you can work with any affirmations, mantras, and visualization work for abundance, fertility, the coming spring, and community. Let’s take a look at some of the many different ways you can magically work with the energy of Lupercalia.
Cleansing & Purging Lupercalia is in the month of February, and it was also called dies Februatus by the ancient Romans. Februatus translates to “purge”. Therefore, if you don’t want to celebrate the pagan Valentine’s Day with love-making and feasting, make it a day of cleansing and purging. Get rid of what no longer serves you in the physical realm. Including clutter in your space (think junky closets, pantries, fridge, etc.) and then cleanse the negative vibrations via smoke-cleansing. In addition, purging yourself of unwanted thoughts and harmful habits and cleansing your aura via a ritual bath or shower.
Feast on the Pagan Valentine’s Day! Whether you have a love interest or not, Lupercalia is about celebrating what we have on this earthly plane. It’s the perfect day to throw a feast! Choose foods that are traditional Roman or Italian, red sauces, wine, and other red foods. Aphrodisiacs are appropriate if you are getting romantic with the meal including strawberries, oysters, chocolate, and dairy.
Drink Wine The Romans were all about their wine. If you want to do Lupercalia right, you got to drink the wine. Red is best to represent love and passion. Be sure to make a toast to the ancient Romans and a fertile life before drinking the wine. Clink your glasses together to scare off the bad spirits lurking in the wine. Setting up an altar for the god of wine Dionysus or Bacchus is also appropriate whenever you have a feast with Roman influences behind it.
Fertility Rituals Trying to conceive? Or maybe you have no desire for a baby at all. Either way, fertility isn’t just about conceiving children. It also relates to prosperity and growth of nearly any other goal in life: career success, your passions like art, etc. Lupercalia is a powerful day to do fertility spells and rituals of any kind! Some of my favorite fertility spells involve using eggs. Check out my guide here to read all about it and use some of them listed there.
Wear Red and White as a rebellion to Valentine’s day
Instead of wearing red and white to connect to valentines day you can wear it to connect to Lupercalia. You were red to represent the blood of sacrifice and the white of milk of the she wolf and goddess Rumina.
Creative Endeavors on Lupercalia Since Lupercalia is a fertile time, creativity is given a boost in different aspects. Have you been waiting for the right time to start a new project? To learn a new skill? Engage in some sort of arts and crafts to celebrate Lupercalia and the inspiration will not flow short.
Have sex! When in Rome, do as the Romans do. OR when it’s Lupercalia, do as the Romans do. And have sex! You can even add some sex and lust magic to spice it up a bit! Of all the traditional Chinese festivals, the new Year was perhaps the most elaborate, colourful, and important. This was a time for the Chinese to congratulate each other and themselves on having passed through another year, a time to finish out the old, and to welcome in the new year.
First, What is the Chinese New Year
The Chinese New Year is a festive celebration at the beginning of the Chinese calendar new year. It has a long and exciting history, and there are many wonderful traditions, meals, and activities to be enjoyed during the holiday. It is also a chance for families to clean their homes and set forth their intentions for the new year.
The Chinese New year can also be called by other names as well, the spring festival due to it’s timing with the changing of the seasons and it ushering in spring. It also known as the lunar new year since it starts on a new moon and is based on the lunar calendar.
The Chinese New year is celebrated on the first day of the First Moon of the lunar calendar. The corresponding date in the solar calendar varies from as early as January 21st to as late as February 19th. This year it falls on January 9th 2024. Chinese New Year, as the Western new Year, signifies turning over a new leaf. Socially, it is a time for family reunions, and for visiting friends and relatives. This holiday, more than any other Chinese holiday, stresses the importance of family ties.
Traditionally, the holiday lasts sixteen days. The first week is considered a public holiday, and the sixteen days are split into different parts of the celebration. For example, the Lantern Festival is generally hosted on the 15th day, and is one of the most looked-forward-to events.
The Chinese New Year is teeming with unique traditions and mythologies. The celebrations includes beautiful outfits, delicious food, and lots of colorful decorations and entertainment. Each region of China and Chinese cultures around the world have their own unique traditions and ways to encouraging hope and positivity for the new year.
History of the Chinese New Year
The history of Chinese New Year dates back over 3,500 years. Each unique religion and culture around China has its own mythology and tradition related to the Chinese New Year, but most stories agree that it has to do with appeasing ancient deities.
Nian, a mythical beast, would appear during the Spring Festival and eat the villagers. An old man appeared in the village and hung red paper lanterns and decorations, and set off fireworks. When the villagers returned to the town, they saw that Nian had not destroyed it, as in previous years. Red decorations and clothing became associated with the holiday, and thus, the tradition of setting off fireworks for the holiday evolved, as well.
Much of the history is also rooted in praying to the gods for a good harvest since Chinese culture is deeply rooted in agriculture.
Traditions in the Chinese New year
Sweeping of the Grounds
Preparations for the Chinese New Year in old China started well in advance of the New Year’s Day. The 20th of the Twelfth Moon was set aside for the annual housecleaning, or the sweeping of the grounds Every corner of the house must be swept and cleaned in preparation for the new year. Spring couplets written in black ink on large vertical scrolls of red paper, were put on the walls or on the sides of the gate-ways. These couplets, short poems written in Classical Chinese, were expressions of good wishes for the family in the coming year. In addition, symbolic flowers and fruits were used to decorate the house, and colorful new year pictures (NIAN HUA) were placed on the walls (for more descriptions of the symbolism of the flowers and fruits.
Family Celebration
On the last day of the old year, everyone was busy either in preparing food for the next two days, or in going to the barbers and getting tidied up for the New Year’s Day. Tradition stipulated that all food be pre-pared before the New Year’s Day, so that all sharp instruments, such as knives and scissors, could be put away to avoid cutting the “luck” of the New Year. The kitchen and well were not to be disturbed on the first day of the Year.
The New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day celebrations were strickly family affairs. All members of the family would gather for the important family meal on the evening of the New year’s Eve. Even if a family member could not attend, an empty seat would be kept to symbolize that person’s presence at the banquet. At midnight following the banquet, the younger members of the family would bow and pay their respects to their parents and elders.
Lai-See
On New Year’s Day, the children were given Red Lai-see envelopes , good luck money wrapped in little red envelopes. On New Year’s day, everyone had on new clothes, and would put on his best behavior. It was considered improper to tell a lie, raise one’s voice, use indecent language, or break anything on the first day of the year.
Starting from the second day, people began going out to visit friends and relatives, taking with them gifts and Lai-See for the children. Visitors would be greeted with traditional New year delicacies, such as melon seeds, flowers, fruits, tray of togetherness, and NIANGAO, New Year cakes.
Red Is Important
Red is associated with the colors used to scare away the monster Nian, but it also has other meanings as well. Traditionally, it stands for good luck in Chinese culture and is used to keep away any spirits who might harbor bad fortune.
Wearing red is traditional for Chinese New Year, in order to welcome in the new year with good fortune, but you can also wear bold or bright colors for the celebratory mood, as well. You’ll also want to decorate with red, as well. Decorations include paper cuttings, which are intricate and narrative. They often represent symbols from mythology or of good blessings for harvest. Other decorations include Door Gods, red lanterns, calligraphy fortunes, paintings, and more.
Firecrackers Are Set Off At the beginning of the legend, firecrackers were used to scare away the monster Nian from the village in order to protect the villagers. Many of the Chinese legends tell of using fireworks to scare away evil spirits and to prevent poor luck in the new year.
In modern times, fireworks are used to both symbolize the ancient tradition and also to evoke a celebratory mood. All of the firecrackers set off during the Chinese New Year celebration are red, thus inviting good luck. It is also a way to express happiness and joy. In fact, Chinese New Year is the event with the greatest number of fireworks released every year—upwards of a billion!

Remember you can always adjust and change this to meet your own path, practices, and needs.
First step is make sure you have a writing utensil and something to write on. You can have just one sheet of paper but, I usually grab a journal or a notebook since I never know how much writing will come out.
Next, find yourself a comfortable place to sit, where you can be alone and enter sacred space
Once, you have found your space it’s time for you to take some deep breaths, center yourself and feel grounded in who you are in this moment.
When you feel grounded, centered and in scared space its time to pick up your writing utensil and set your intention for this session. You can do this by speaking out loud to the universe what topic it is you are asking to receive a message about this session. So, this session you will be asking to receive a message about what your authentic selves dream life looks like.
Than you simply let your writing utensil go whether you answer with journal prompt, a list, doodles, it does not matter just simply let the first things that come to your mind flow from you pen with zero hesitation and judgement.
Do this until you feel you have let it all be expressed on the page.
Once, you feel this you can put your writing utensil down, and take in all you have written. Absorb the messages you find there and make any notes of any further reflection needed.
Lastly, do not forget to thank yourself and the universe for the message you received and were open to receiving today.
However you choose to connect to this new moon in Aquarius be prepared for the deep life altering change coming your way and being introduced to the most authentic version of yourself that can advanced the greater good of humanity.
I Know right away some of you have clicked on this to come at me with guns blazing ready to argue with me. To let me know how wrong I am, how young I am so how could I possibly know, and to tell me how I am anti feminist or in an unhealthy marriage.
I am going to tell you that you are wrong.
I am going to stick to the statement I made in this blog post title.
And I am going to ask that you hear me out. Read this until the very end and than tell me you don’t think and feel the same way.
My marriage and why you should even read this
I am going to get very personal in the post. I am going to talk about some deep things that have happened and are happening now in my marriage and how not viewing my marriage as 50/50 and equal is how we are still together today.
After meeting right out of high school at 18, getting engaged after only 6 months and moving i with each other, getting married after 4 years and now being together for 13 years ( married for 8) not having this 50/50 mindset is a key factor to us still being together today.
Unlike so many around us that have already divorced or will be soon. And we have outlived the national average for a marriage of 7-8 years and beat the statistics so far of meeting as teens and being too young to stay together.
It has not been all sunshine and rainbows and we more than understand ups and downs in marriages. How hard they can be to navigate, how you can get disconnected and/or grow apart or start to venture down different paths. We have been thru many things life has thrown our way and things we have done to hurt each other. But, all of that will be for later posts.
My marriage never would have survived being 50/50
What we are going to focus on in this post is this idea I keep seeing blowing up on social media; that marriages and/or partnerships if they are healthy are equal and/or 50/50. I get the appeal of thinking like that and I get the idea of how this is thought to be healthy.
But, man am I so thankful my marriage doesn’t function this way.
My marriage never would have made it this long if we had this mindset.
We would have been doomed from the start and set up for failure and I would not be who I am today as an individual nor would my husband if we had this 50/50 mindset.
With this mindset my husband should have left me a long time ago.
And let me tell you why.
What does this 50/50 mindset actually mean?
Like I touched on before I get the appeal of this mindset. I 10000% understand that equal share of responsibility, support, and dealing with life with your partner sounds like and feels like the most balanced way to go through life with a partner.
It seems fair. Let me tell you why it is not.
That isn’t the definition of fair.
Fair doesn’t mean equal like so many think it does. I myself was included in this until a therapist of mine taught me otherwise.
Fair means that something is impartial, just, and not achieving an advantage over another.
For something to be just is going to be subjective based on the people, places, and events involved and it will change and fluctuate all the time.
This fluctuating and subjectiveness is exactly why our goal and my goal is for things to be fair and not 50/50. It gives room for grace in your marriage/ partnership whereas the 50/50 mindset does not.
50/50 leaves no room for grace and support
Grace is critical to a marriage/ partnership. Both giving/ showing your spouse/partner grace and them being able to reciprocate for you when you need it.
And being in a 50/50 mindset leaves no room for grace to be in it.
50/50 means 50/50 no matter what at all times.
It means each person has their own weight to carry, their equal share of the responsibilities and its up to them to carry it so their spouse/ partner can carry theirs. It’s some peoples definition of teamwork.
With this rigid look on duties, responsibilities, and teamwork how could there be grace and true support when its needed? And without that how would you ever expect a relationship to last?
I can tell you with 100000% certainty my husband should have left me, my marriage should no longer be intact and I myself in all honesty may not have lived this long to give birth to my son, go thru therapy and treatment, hold my husband in grace now, and be writing this blog post now for you to be reading.
So, what is grace in a marriage/partnership?
I keep saying my marriage or any marriage won’t make it without grace in it which is why a 50/50 relationship doesn’t always set you up for success.
So, what is grace in a relationship?
Grace in a relationship allows for support. It allows goodwill to enter the marriage/ partnership.
It allows for one spouse/partner to be able to have bad day. It allows for give and take.
It allows for one partner to say ” my load is too heavy right now, I can’t carry it all. Is it okay if I don’t take this on right now? ” It allows for your partner or you to ask for help from the other and know you can get it.
It allows for you to be able to say you need support, to ask for it, and to receive it.
It allows for a partner to say ” hey I need you to carry 80% today I can only handle 20%.” and for the other partner to be willing and able to do that knowing that when the scales tip the other way the same amount of grace will be given to them.
It allows to truly build a team, a life, and marriage built on support.
How can not being 50/50 in a marriage look like in use and its impact
What does this look like in an actual marriage/ partnership? Let me tell you about its biggest impact on mine. How its kept us together and even me alive.
This mindset in our marriage really got put to the test shortly after I turned 25 so about 6 years ago, shortly after we got married and had been together for about 6 years at that point.
I had a quarter life crisis at the point, I completely broke to the point where I almost was or maybe should have been hospitalized. I couldn’t even leave my home, literally. If I tried I’d curl into a ball on the floor in front of my door shaking and crying in a panic attack.
It was my lowest point in my life.
I’ll have a blog post coming soon to dive really deep into that topic.
If we had the mindset of 50/50 and equal at this time my husband should have left for what happened next and the weight he carried for me and for the length of time he did it.
I lied to him about going to work, used all my time off, fmla etc, and had gotten fired.
I than spent the next three years in such a bad depression and having other mental health illnesses causing more instability, My husband was the only one who could work and we eventually ended up homeless because not even that could bring me back to carrying my own weight.
And thru it all my husband carried almost all my weight we were easily 80/20 or 90/10 no matter what he had going on because I simply couldn’t do it. I couldn’t carry a larger amount than that.
And he did so for over 3 years! Without resentment, without blame, and without pressure to push me back to carrying a larger amount of the weight. And doing so allowed me to have time for so much reflection, growth and therapy and I’m in a place we both never could have dreamed to be in.
That grace and willingness was possible because we both knew than and know now that every single day we take a look at it and see how much of the total weight we each are able to carry and in what areas.
It made it possible for me to hold him in the same space now as he goes through what I did and now it’s his turn to heal and grow while I carry most of the weight and hold him in grace and support.
Some days we are 60/40, some days 50/50, some days 80/20, and others 95/5.
Some days my husband carries more weight and others I do.
In some areas he takes on more and in others I do.
We both know that we are there to carry whatever the other needs us to in order for us to be a team truly, to grow together, and support each other when we need it, how we need it, for how long we need it for.
We both know we have a true partnership, and team and know how to truly give and take in a relationship, to be fair, and supportive of one another.
I challenge you to question your idea of a marriage and if 50/50 is truly what you want
What is Moon Water? Moon water ? is simply water that has been exposed to the moonlight and charged with a Magical intention.
The water will now embody the properties and energy of that moon phase and the astrological sign it was in so we can use it whenever we need it in our craft.
This charged water becomes a tangible connection for you to have to the moon! You can use it on your altar, in spell workings, to connect to the archetype energy of the moon, and as an offering to a deity/ element/ or the moon itself.
Moon water is highly beneficial for both your life and your witchy practice.
The main benefits are as follows: it guides you away from anger and arguments, it boosts positive thoughts, it helps you to manifest your dreams, it helps you in meditation and it lightens the body and soul, it becomes a mirror to reflect and release emotions, and enhances and connects you to your intuition thru divination and to your divine feminine energy.
It helps you stay away from arguing and getting angry
The moon water helps you focus, let go of what no longer serves you, learn how to breathe deeply, and unwind from the past to create a great present and an even better future. It is a great tool to add to cleanse negativity by drinking it or by taking a bath with moon water.
It helps you imagine your dreams and boosts manifesting
Moon water is a perfect tool to boost visualization and manifestation techniques. Spending time imagining your goals and writing them down on paper is the way to give them the right energy for achievement. Spending time focusing on your dreams during the full moon gives that extra touch to turn them into action.
Moon water as a divination tool
With its connection to the moon it connects you to the divine energy of the moon which is teeming with emotional energy, intuition, dreams, and manifesting. This makes it a perfect tool to use for water scrying in divination to give it more energy and cleared connection to your intuition and emotions.
Enhanced reflection through added power of the moon
What is water essentially besides the element and what it represents?
It’s a mirror, a tool to reflect you inner child, desires, dreams, struggles, and more back at you and gives you a safe space to sit in the emotional tides that mirror may reflect back to you and enhance what needs to be while letting what doesn’t be washed away.
Connection to the divine feminine
Since ancient times the moon has been a symbol and connection to many goddesses and has been venerated as goddess on her own as well. Which means the moon itself is very much attached to the divine feminine energy and can create an amazing channel to connect to it and is absorbed into the moon water to create a space for you be submerged in that connection.
Channeling the Energy of Each Phase
Beginner Witches often ask: Can you make moon water without a full moon? The answer is Yes! You can prepare Moon Water any night, even on a New Moon (it’s dark but it’s still there!)
The New Moon and all other lunar phases have energies of their own. Let’s see when to make Moon Water according to the spells you are going to cast.
??? Remember: There are 8 lunar phases and we can group them into 4 stages:
New Moon, Waxing Moon, Full Moon, and Waning Moon.
New Moon Water
Charge your water under the New Moon and use this water as a booster for spells of new beginnings. If you are looking to: Start a new job or business Open your heart to a new relationship Move into a new place Sprinkle your altar, your home or workspace with some New Moon Water!
If you are planting seeds, water them with some of this moon water to promote a healthy start.
Waxing Moon Water
The benefits of this lunar phase are associated to growth, evolution and development in both the spiritual and material realms. If you are casting: Spells for Money and Success Good Luck Rituals and Spells This phase is all about manifestation, attraction and moving forward. Invite the power of Water to your life by placing a cup of Moon Water on your altar.
Full Moon Water
The energy of the full moon can help you reinforce any kind of Witchcraft spells: Love and Beauty Spells Spiritual and Psychic Protection Spells Meditations for Growth and Wisdom Divinations and any ritual practice in which you need to strengthen your spiritual powers will see benefits.
Just place a cup of Moon Water on your altar as you cast it.
Waning Moon Water
Enhance the power of Banishing spells by using this blessed water in your ritual. If you want to get rid of a problem, a person or a situation, cast a banishing or a freezing spell and add a cup of Waning Moon Water to the list of ingredients.
Can I drink Moon Water?
If you are using clean drinking water, there’s no risk! You can drink a few sips before starting your ritual to energize your body with the energy of the moon, or make a tea with it!
You can take a sip of it at the beginning of the day to invite in positive thoughts, emotional stability, and connect to your intuition and divine feminine.
You can take a sip before going to bed to enhance your dreams and leave a bowl or cup of it on your bedside to enhance them while you sleep.
What else can I do with Moon Water?
There are plenty of things you can do with it, such as taking a bath, washing your hands or face, carrying it with you as an amulet, or even cooking and cleaning your home with it! Place it on your altar as an offering and a way to connect to the moon. Use it in your garden or your house plants even!
But its true Power lies in that you treat it as the sacred tool that it is. It’s not just tap water anymore. It’s now been consecrated and charged with your intentions, so don’t waste it or play with it. Be thankful because water is an essential element for life and all living things.
Can you make Moon Water on a cloudy night?
Yes! The energies of the Moon are always present, even when it’s cloudy outside. Just like the sun rays, moonlight is potent enough to travel through the atmosphere, clouds, and even through the pollution of big cities.
How to fully enjoy its benefits?
Moon water has different properties according to the lunar phase. I love full moon water, but you can customize your experience as you wish! It will help you focus on a specific thing in your life.
How to Prepare Moon Water
We can use this water when for any reason we can’t work during the best Moon phase for a spell. Instead, by charging regular drinking water with the energy of the moon, we preserve that energy until a later time.
HOW TO PREPARE MOON WATER
Pour water in the bowl. If it’s your first time, use 3 cups of water. Otherwise, feel free to experiment with the amounts.
Put the bowl in a place where it will be lit by the moonlight, preferably outside, but it could be near a window inside your home. It’s a good idea to use a glass bowl or a transparent bottle to allow the light to reach the water without obstructions. It doesn’t matter if it’s cloudy outside, since moonlight, just like sunlight, can pierce through the clouds easily.
As you place the water in the moonlight, consecrate it by saying out loud
” Dear moon thanks for this sacred water which is already helping me with ( insert intention)”
OR ” Dear divine moon I call to you this evening and ask that you charge this water with your divine sacred light and energy to create a connection to you for me to call upon and connect to you thru.”
Your intention/petition could be attracting more money to your life, healing a part of your body, fixing a relationship, or anything else where you want to focus this sacred energy.
You don’t need to leave the water outside all night. A few hours is enough, but make sure to collect it before dawn, before the sunlight touches it.
Filter out any insects that might have landed on the water and pour it in a bottle or jar. Store it in a dark place such as a kitchen cabinet or refrigerator until you use it.
Tips for Collecting Moon Water
To make a very powerful Moon Water, start the first night of the lunar phase you chose (for example, the first night of the Full Moon), and charge the water outside for 3 consecutive nights. This can be done not just during the Full Moon phase, but during any lunar phase. Each has its own Magical properties as we will see below. I recommend to make sure to do so on the full moon and the new moon.
Ways to use moon water in your rituals and spell workings
Enhance your Meditations
The first step towards strengthening your intuition is to recognize its existence. Being aware of your powers is key in realizing full potential while meditating.
Light a blue or purple candle on your altar. You can also use white as a staple.
Apply a drop of Moon Water to your Third Eye chakra (between the eyebrows) to open yourself to divine wisdom and revelation.
Follow a guided meditation to awaken your inner knowledge and listen to your intuition.
Find a place of peace within you, allowing the visions to come to you with ease. Don’t be disappointed if you don’t have any visions at first, practice makes perfect.
Keep a bottle or jar of Moon Water near your altar to keep working on your abilities.
Add Moon Water to your Baths ?
Fill your bathtub as you normally do, and pour some Moon water that you’ve previously prepared. Get in the tub and pour the rest of the water on yourself.
Follow a Spiritual Bath Recipe for more ideas. If you need to cleanse any specific part of your body, focus on that area. Visualize everything that no longer serves you being released from your body and aura.
If you’ve charged your Moon Water with a specific intention, focus on absorbing the light of that intent, while promoting intense peace and relaxation. Wash your hair with Moon water to encourage growth with a divine glow.
Bless your finances with Moon Water
To make your money flow easily, Water is the perfect Element. Have confidence that nothing can stop the flow of money in your life.
Bless your money by sprinkling just a few drops of Moon Water on your purse or wallet.

Cleansing your sacred space is very important. No spiritual work can be done in an environment full of stagnant energy.
Make sure to clean your house physically with a mop/sponge as you normally would and add some Moon Water to your bucket.
You can also just sprinkle the water with your fingers or a spray bottle wherever you want to clean and bless the space.
Optionally, combine this water with herbs or essential oils to spread more positive energies
Consecrate your crystals with Moon Water
Gemstones and crystals are powerful tools that we use to store, absorb, or amplify energy.
Charging your crystals implies establishing your intention and purpose. When you charge them under the Moon, they are infused with the deep symbolism of Lunar Magic (intuition, protection, and mystery).
Place your stones outside to bathe under the Moon
Put a bowl with water next to them.
Make sure it’s safe to wash your stones with water, and physically clean them with Moon Water.
*make sure that specific crystal can be exposed to the element of water first
Water your plants with Moon Water ?
Consecration passes an intention or specific energy from your spirit onto the plant. There are many ways to bless a plant: This is a simple method which can be adapted to any practice.
During the day, take the plant with both hands. If the plant is on the ground, place your palms near it.
Visualize and feel a Magical energy flowing around the plant, fueled by your own heat and energy.
Say the following spell: “Sacred Nature, bless my plant. Moonlight gives you a healthy life. My Magic is your power, To grow and protect me. So mote it be!”
Water your plant with Moon Water, or spray its leaves with it.
Charge your water with the energies of the Zodiac
Each day, the Moon is passing through a zodiac sign. Do this if you want to invoke a specific trait of a zodiac sign, for example, during a future ritual or spell.
Place a bowl of water by the window where the moonlight will touch it. You can also do this outside.
than recite a spell, invocation, or prayer to connect the water to the zodiac energy
Once you’re done, store the Moon water in a bottle or jar.
Use the water in your ritual by simply placing a bowl of Moon Water on your altar as you call upon the Element Water, or sprinkle some water on your tools.
However you choose to work with moon water in your magical practice or you daily life just remember to tailor it to your needs and to thank the moon for the energy and divine connection the moon water is bringing to you!
I absolutely love simmer pots! I honestly can not praise them enough! Not only do they leave your house smelling amazing, are usually pretty inexpensive to do, but did you know they are jam packed full of magical energy and properties?
I recently learned most people including witches and pagans don’t know this about them!
Whether you consider yourself a Kitchen Witch, are vaguely interested in Kitchen Magic or just want to bring some good vibes and good smells into your home, simmer pots are an easy, accessible and fun ritual for any time of year!
Simmer pots are easy to create and customise to your liking, so you can make your kitchen a sacred space whenever you want!
In this blog post I will dive into the magic of simmer pots, how to use them, what they can do for you in a magical sense, and go over how to do a refreshing spring simmer pot!
First what is an actual simmer pot?
Simmer pots are basically potpourri in a pot! You choose your ingredients, put them in a pot with water, bring to a boil, then turn down to a simmer and let it do its thing. They couldn’t be any easier, just be sure you don’t let your pot boil dry! If you want to keep the pot going simply add more water when it gets low. And obviously never leave it going when you are not home.
Simmer pots also lack the harsh toxins that are packed into conventional air freshener sprays and many scented candles. Just fresh ingredients from your kitchen! No fake fragrances or toxic chemicals needed.
One more benefit, they can likely be crafted with things you already have in your kitchen making them a convenient and inexpensive solution.
What makes a simmer pot magical?
Aside from making your house smell divine, one of the ways simmer pots are magical is they incorporate all of the natural elements – making it a fun way to bring a connection with nature and the environment to your space.
You do this simply by creating it.
EARTH The first step to creating a simmer pot is to choose the herbs, spices, plants and other foods that will go into your concoction
WATER Once you’ve put all of your botanical ingredients in the pot, you will fill the pot 2/3 with water.
FIRE/HEAT The fire element is added when you turn on your stove top burner and start heating up your simmer pot. You’ll want to bring it to gentle simmer
AIR The steam from your simmer pot will circulate the scent and magic of your simmer pot throughout your space. And sending the energy of your spell, intention, manifestation, or ritual into the air, your sacred space and the multiverse.
This is my favorite part and why I find them so magical. The amount of magical energy being released into your space out into the multiverse and than inhaled back into your soul through your lungs is astounding and intoxicating.
Simmer pots also leverage the magical and mysterious properties of herbs and other plants making it great way to practice kitchen witchcraft even if cooking or baking isn’t really your thing.
The magic behind the ingredients
Different simmer pot rituals can be created with different herbs, spices, and foods. Tune into abundance, peace, health, peace – you name it! – depending on what you add to your pot.
We mustn’t forget that the herbs, spices, and whole foods housed in our kitchens all carry their own energies and magickal properties.
So let’s use those items to assist us in manifesting our goals. You’ll easily be able to create a simmer pot that aligns with your intentions and smells delicious!
Below are different ingredients and their associations. Remember you can add anything to these in any combination you want to fit your own personal needs and intentions!
Lavender – Purification, intuition, good luck, calm, peace, balance
Now, that you know what they are, what can go in and how they are magical what can you use them for?
SO MUCH! You have endless possibilities. You can use them to manifest, set intentions, cleanse, purify, protection, to connect to the deity Cerridwen, and more!
Below is a list of some ideas for you!
SUCCESS & CONFIDENCE
PROTECTION & CLARITY
ABUNDANCE & WEALTH
PROSPERITY & LUCK
CLEANSING & HEALING
How do you make one?
When I do a simmer pot with a specific intention in mind I follow these simple steps to incorporate my magick and mind into the process.
Step 1: Gather The Herbs First, I select the herbs and aromatics I want to use. I try to select herbs that match the overall vibe of the intentions I’m setting for the season. Or for that specific ritual, spell, or manifestation.
Step 2: Set your intentions very clear in your mind and don’t lose sight of them for the entire process.
Visualize your desired outcome or goal for the magickal work you are doing. Are you aiming to create happiness in the home, or more money in your wallet? Whatever it may be focus on what you want the outcome to look like. Continue with the visualization and stirring until it feels right to finish. You’ll know when! You may recite your goal, a chant, or ritual words while you stir as well. Something pertaining to your desired outcome.
Step 3: Next, I fill my pot with water ( Fill the pot two thirds full of water. You can just use water from your kitchen sink.) and add all the herbs and aromatics into the pot except for the bay leaves. ( If using them and I almost always am for these)
Step 4:Then I bring the water to a simmer over medium heat. Then turn down the temperature until it is simmering gently – similar to making soup.
*Once the water starts to get low, you can always add more water, allowing the the pot to simmer longer.
Step 5: set your intentions again
Once the water is simmering, I take each bay leaf and write my intentions on them. It could be the same intention written on several leaves or unique intentions written on each one. Then I take each intention in my hands, close my eyes, and take a few deep breaths. I try to connect with it and really feel what the intention will be like when it manifests. If you’re good at visualizing, you could spend a few minutes visualizing the intention.
After I’ve spent a few minutes with the intention, I place the bay leaf in the simmer pot. Then I repeat for the rest of my intention. Once all the bay leaf intentions have been added to the pot, I stir the pot a few times clockwise and imagine the simmer pot dispersing the energy of the herbs throughout my home
*stir the pot clockwise. Unless you are doing a banishing or releasing spell, in that case stir the pot counter clockwise.
step 6: And that’s about it! I just let the simmer pot do its thing for the day, keeping an eye on it to make sure it doesn’t run out of water. At the end of the day, I dispose of the herbs in my little compost bin (I pick out the citrus first). Usually, it’s suggested that herbs used in rituals be returned to the earth when you’re finished, so you could bury them outside. But if that’s just not an option, I think it’s ok to just thank the herbs and dispose of them in the garbage!
